It's been a long time between blog posts and I have a lot to say, so hang on fans.
This is going to be a long off season waiting for baseball to resume in 2022. There are so many questions. How long will the owner/player collective bargaining take? Could there be a delay to the start of the 2022 season? What rule changes will be implemented or restored? Will there be a designated hitter in the National League? Sticky stuff agreement? Dead ball or juiced ball? New commissioner or does the dolt imbecile Manfred stay? Will Hal Steinbrenner spend and try to build the Yankees? Who will the YANKEES get rid of by hook or crook, deal or dump? Will the top minor leaguers be given a chance to play on the big stage if any prove themselves in spring training or continue to be held back? Will manager Aaron Boone ever say a negative about anyone who doesn't go all out? who always swings from the heals? who does not hit against the shift when it is right there in front of them? passed balls? dumb base running? constant misplays? not hitting behind runners? watching their batted balls that could be doubles or triples turn into singles because they did not run hard? and my pet peeve, failure to score runners from third base with less than two outs?
I would like to congratulate the WORLD CHAMPION Atlanta Braves for winning the 2021 World Series. The Braves are the best team in baseball and their players are the best in baseball for what they accomplished in winning the World Series. Each year, as always, only the best team and the best players win the World Series. This is irrefutable no matter what the stat frauds would like you to believe. No individual stat or combination of stats overshadows why baseball is played...it is to win games. Baseball has set rules as to how teams qualify for the playoffs, right now it is ten teams based on winning and wins. Nothing else matters. Advancement through the playoffs is based on wins and winning. Nothing else matters. The best team and players are the last one winning the final series of the season, the World Series. Nothing else matters. Do not believe the words, excuses, denials, and lies from the stat frauds. Nothing is more important than wins and winning. The following paragraphs discusses wins and winning,
It is amazing how you can define almost every game by production when it matters most. Production when it matters most wins games and winning games is the desired result you want from the players on your team. The players who are more interested in their individual stats and value them more than the team winning are the players you do not want on your team.
That is how the WIN METHOD values players. Each year players are valued on how far they help lead their team. One, the ten teams who make the playoffs. Two, how far the players lead their team into the playoffs. Third the players who reach the World Series and win the World Series.
The ten teams that reach the playoffs have reached the highest level of competition by eliminating two/thirds of the other teams. Now the best are playing only the best for a very short timeframe. That is when produce when it matters most reaches its highest level.
Each series a team is eliminated until you reach the final two teams, the best of the best.
Voila, you have the WIN METHOD, undeniably the best player evaluation tool in the world. No made up convolute man made fake and useless formulas. No exit velocity, no how far a ball is hit, no how much nor how many and individual reached. No fake ERA's. WINS is all the matters and WINS and winning is the only stat that determines the best in the game.
Why do stat frauds hate, bemoan, demean, and deny the WIN METHOD? Stat frauds live by individual statistics. Their best players are only the best based on their numbers. They do not care if their high individual stat players do not help their team make the playoff, the stat frauds just blame the other players on the team. However when the players with lesser individual stats lead their team to the playoffs and beyond and even win the World Series the stat frauds do not recognize them as the best. I guess the stat frauds players who produce most when it matters most is just dumb luck. In my opinion stat frauds and the word dumb are synonyms.
Why haven't the YANKEES made the playoffs since MR. S. passed away? There is only one answer. The answer is the person running the team, Hal Steinbrenner. There have been many opinions expressed all through the sports media and other sources regarding Hal's operating priorities, his direction, his wisdom, and more. No one knows for sure and all are just guessing. But, whatever Hal is doing, it appears it needs to change direction and it needs to change to a positive direction. In my opinion, I believe much of the problem is the analytics being used. Numbers and stat sheets do not win games, players on the field playing baseball for the team to succeed wins games.
Here is a fact for all baseball fans to think about. Since the inception of the WIN METHOD the YANKEES have had the best record in baseball. The most wins and least losses than any other team in either league despite the present owner and his decisions. His father gave him a golden goose and he is turning it into a tarnished golden goose. Time for some polish and elbow grease Hal.
So, now we watch and wait to see what the YANKEES do this hot stove season. It is up to them, nothing any fan or pundit says or thinks makes a difference. I feel I have done my part in advising on WIN METHOD players. Not everyone chosen and or signed by the YANKEES is WIN METHOD. I can do nothing about that, I do not coach nor manage nor run the team. Mr. S. was a strong and staunch believer in the WIN METHOD since its live inception. The success of the YANKEE team from the WIN METHOD inception until the death of Mr. S. was extraordinary. Hal Steinbrenner is not his father and that alone may be the biggest issue why the YANKEES haven't reached the WORLD SERIES for far too long now. Let's see what happens in 2022. We can only hope things change for the positive..

Yankees lose two games today and score just one run in eighteen innings. Lose first series after winning nine in a row.
Hot Oriole team come to Yankee Stadium for three games starting Monday. Cole and Monty will start first two games. No one named for third game as of now. Hope the bats come alive.
Cole starts today's game against the Orioles at Yankee Stadium. This is where the 'ace' needs to shine and stop the losing streak in its tracks. Florial should start every game in the outfield. Hicks should be DFA'd. And all the bats need to shake off these last two games and start producing when it counts to start another streak of consistent winning.
Florial looked far better at the plate last night than either Hicks or Gallo has all season. I would chuck Hicks in a heartbeat. The Yankees have to pay him no mattter what, unless they can trade him without picking up any part of his salary (doubtful). Why pay him to hurt the team, when you can help the team with a younger smarter better player for just small amount of dollars.
My thoughts on Yankee starters for Rays series in Tampa. Cortes, Thursday on regular schedule. Taillon, Friday on regular schedule. Cole, Saturday on regular schedule. Either Monty or Louie Louie on Sunday. Monty would be on regular schedule. Louie Louie get extended since he is on the comeback trail. Louie Louie would the pitch Monday against Angels in NY.

Judge did have two HR's and 3 RBI's to keep game close. But not enough.
I have always said it and it gets proven over and over. No player is worth what they are being payed, and that goes for every player making 20 mil per year or more.
Losing games like this is bad.

Players get paid only for the income the owner of the team feels the player will generate. Baseball is a business to the owner, a game to the fan. The fan pays, the players and the owners get richer.

MLB in all of its incompetence suspends Josh Donaldson for one game and an undisclosed fine. MLB is taking the lowest of low roads and is a disgrace to integrity character and free speech. I will take the appropriate actions to handle this issue.

The Yankees now head to Tampa for a four game, Thursday thru Sunday series with the Rays. The Yanks have listed their four starters, Cortes, Taillon, Cole, and Louie Louie. Would be a nice series to win, and I bet dollars to doughnuts the Rays feel the same way. The question for the Yankees will be who will be healthy enough to play for the Yankees. LeMahieu and Stanton did not play today, and if they are nursing injuries, it does not do much good to play them and risker longer injury.
Lets go Yankees, win them all.
Andujar had the only Yankee rbi with a run scoring single. The Yanks scored their other run in the same inning when Andujar stole second base and the catchers throw went into centerfield for an error allowing Torres to score from third base. That was the game.
Cortes opens the Rays series tonight in Tampa. Win game one. Let's go Yankees.
Considering the Yankees are not full strength right now and are being bolstered by minor league talent, I as a fan would be satisfied with a split of this series.

Final. Yankees win 7-2. After no hits for five innings, the Yankees came alive, scoring 7 runs over the last four innings for a 7-0 lead. In the ninth the Rays scored 2 meaningless runs for the final 7-2 win. A big team effort on the scoring front. The biggest star was Cortes who shut down the Rays for eight innings to earn the win. Cortes has surely become the ace of this team. Taking game one of this four game series is huge, no matter what happens over the next three games.
Matt Carpenter won me over already. He led off the Yankee sixth inning and started the rally that led to a three run inning. He stood firm in the batters box, never mover and took an inside pitch to the arm. You could tell it upset the Rays pitcher. The rest is history. Carpenter plays real baseball and got on base any way he could.

I thought Carpenter got hit by the pitch on purpose. He just stood there and didn't lean back or turn away. The camera closeup of the pitcher, told the story, he was agitated. The agitation transferred to his pitching, and a few batters latter the Yankees had three runs and the game.
What a nice win last night. Cortes is amazing. It sure proves you don't have to pay a pitcher who throws 100 MPH a king's ransom.

Matt Carpenter has played two games with the Yankees and he had a major impact on the outcome in both games. Cashman has done well.
The Yankees winning the first two games of this four game series has already did what was needed to neutralize the Rays. Any win going forward would be a bonus and make for an exemplary series.

Final. Yankees lose 3-1. A tough loss. Kluber outpitches Cole. Cole has to throw over one hundred pitches and can only finish six innings. Too many pitches missing the plate and always trying to nip the corners. If a pitcher does that and doesn't get the calls from the umpire he then has to work harder. The harder a pitcher has to work, the more stress on the arm and mind to deal with. The more stress on the arm and mind, the shorter the career. In a nutshell, not worth what he is paid.
Louie Louie tomorrow for Yanks and he will try to make it a great series with a win or just a good series with a loss. Come on guys, score some runs. See the ball in the strike zone, hit the ball. No time for fishing, save that for after the season.
When I see the Yankee lineup and Stanton is not in it, and then you watch the games, just think of the threat he poses every at bat for every pitcher. The lineup is not at its best without Stanton in it.

What is Cole's true value if he can't win a big game for us?
We may be conflating two issues regarding Cole. Pitching ability and dollar value. I believe Cole is a top-of-the-line pitcher. I also believe he is far over paid.
In first three innings Yankees had man on third and less than two outs, three times and never scored one of them. Not good and not acceptable.
Yankees down 2-1 after five. Louie Louie has given up only two hits, both solo homers.
Final. Yankees lose 4-2. Split four game series on the road with division contender. And did it with a patch quilt team. Yankees have tomorrow off. Tomorrow is Memorial Day and I would like to acknowledge all those who gave their life and all those who gave parts of their body and mind for the United States of America.
The WIN METHOD. Who wins and who loses. Production when it matters most. The Yankees had nine hits today and not once produced when it mattered most. The Rays had two hits and scored four runs. The Rays won the game. The WIN METHOD, the most game defining tool in baseball.
Just have to keep our heads above water until we get the bodies healthy and back. Tampa could have been a disaster, but turned out to be a wash.
The Yankees did not produce when it mattered most, especially with the man on third and less than two out, three times. There is no excuse for that. The Yankees, particularly Hicks caught two bad breaks on hard hit game changing at bats. Number one, first and second no outs and Hicks hits a bullet down the third base line which would have been a run scoring double and men on second and third no outs. The second one, man on third and two outs Hicks hits a rocket up the middle on the shortstop side of second base and the second baseman makes a slicing snare of the ground ball and bounces up throwing Hicks out at first to end the inning.
Sometimes you are just not destined to win.

This is the first time the Yankees scored some runs early to give Monty a cushion to work with. He has gone five innings so far not giving up any runs and leads 5-0.
Guy Padikian, you got a laugher. Monty goes seven and leaves leading 7-1 and will get his first win of the season. He gave up the run in the seventh after the lineup got him seven runs.
Final. Yankees win 9-1. Monty, seven dominant innings allowing one run, and earns the win. Star offensively, Trevino, great defense, great base running, and big three hit capped with a 2 run home run. Castro and McKay mopped up the 8th and 9th.
Cortes starts tomorrow for the Yankees and a win will take this series.
It was about time the Yankees scored runs for Monty. He must have been exhilarated to have a four run lead after the first inning. First time all season he pitched without the pressure of making a mistake costing the ball game.
Good chance to win this series and maybe sweep it with Cortes and Taillon starting these two games.
Trevino has lifted the offense from the catcher's spot. Higashioka's bat will come alive soon.
Their combined defense is exceptional, and adding production with the bat will really help the bottom third of the lineup.

Rizzo pinch hit two out two RBI single puts Yankees ahead 2-1 after eight innings. Holmes coming in to try for the save.
Final. Yankees win 2-1. Taillon earns the win when Yankees finally score in the 8th inning on a pinch hit 2 rbi single by Rizzo. Taillon opened game by pitching seven perfect innings, 21 batters up and 21 down. Taillon gave up his first hit and base runner in the 8th and then an rbi single for his only run of the game. Holmes pitched the 9th with some drama, getting the first 2 outs easily, then walking a batter on a 3-2 pitch. Holmes then hit the next two batters to load the bases, but he got the final out on an easy ground ball, and earned the save. Yankee sweep the three game series.
Yankees sweep three game series with Angels winning today's day night doubleheader, 6-1 and 2-1.
The Yankees now host the Detroit Tigers for a weekend series. Cole, Louie Louie, and Monty will be the starting pitchers.
Good game to watch tonight. Taillon kept you on the edge of your seat right into the eighth inning, and the Yankees did their part to keep you on the edge of your seat until the eighth inning by not scoring any runs. In the eighth, Taillon gave up the Angel's first hit of the game and allowed the first run of the game to put the Yankees down 1-0. That was the Yankees cue that they were allowed to score some runs. They responded and scored two runs and won the game 2-1.
The Yankee starters seem to be a tight knit group who collaborate on their pitching with the goal being to re-enforce each other, help and advise each other, with the goal of pitching better and winning.
By gosh, Taillon has turned into one hell of an outstanding pitcher.

I was so happy that Rizzo got the WIN METHOD when it matters most hit to win the game for Taillon last night. Taillon did all he could to give the Yankees every chance to win the game. A hit or two in big spots early in the game would have made for an easy win and eliminated the late inning drama.

Just keep winning series, one game at a time. Producing when it matters most is what wins games and is the single most important tool to winning.

Cole goes 6 2/3 innings before giving up a hit and a perfect game. Finished seventh and leaves game leading 12-0. Cole's line no runs, two hits, no walks, nine strikeouts. That is the line of an "ace".
Final. Yankees win 13-0 in a laugher's laugher. Cole goes seven innings allowing 0 runs and 2 hits. Both hits in the seventh inning after retiring 20 straight batters. The Yankee offense was pretty much everybody. The last two innings were pitched by Banuelos.
I can't recall this happening, it surely may have, but it may not have, two pitchers in back to back games retiring 20 consecutive batters each, as Taillon and Cole did the past two nights. It is an amazing feat.

If the official scorer changes the hit to an error, in essence it means nothing except stat fraud book-keeping. Louie Louie would give up no hit instead of one. So what. The Yankees as a team would have a no hitter instead of a one hitter. So what. The win is all the matters.
I'm 88 years old and have never seen a five man rotation this good in my life.
A big part of the Yankee success so far has been the ability to play multiple players at different position in each game. Being able to rest players and replace players without missing a beat and still compete at the highest level.

A hard fought, grinding, just enough production when it mattered most today.
Next up for the Yankees will be the Minnesota Twins. After an off day Monday the Yankees will visit the Twins for three games, Tue, Wed, and Thursday. The Yankees named starting pitchers are Taillon, Cortes, and Cole. Goal, win another series.
Every time we win a series, it makes it that much harder to be caught by the teams chasing us.
