It's been a long time between blog posts and I have a lot to say, so hang on fans.
This is going to be a long off season waiting for baseball to resume in 2022. There are so many questions. How long will the owner/player collective bargaining take? Could there be a delay to the start of the 2022 season? What rule changes will be implemented or restored? Will there be a designated hitter in the National League? Sticky stuff agreement? Dead ball or juiced ball? New commissioner or does the dolt imbecile Manfred stay? Will Hal Steinbrenner spend and try to build the Yankees? Who will the YANKEES get rid of by hook or crook, deal or dump? Will the top minor leaguers be given a chance to play on the big stage if any prove themselves in spring training or continue to be held back? Will manager Aaron Boone ever say a negative about anyone who doesn't go all out? who always swings from the heals? who does not hit against the shift when it is right there in front of them? passed balls? dumb base running? constant misplays? not hitting behind runners? watching their batted balls that could be doubles or triples turn into singles because they did not run hard? and my pet peeve, failure to score runners from third base with less than two outs?
I would like to congratulate the WORLD CHAMPION Atlanta Braves for winning the 2021 World Series. The Braves are the best team in baseball and their players are the best in baseball for what they accomplished in winning the World Series. Each year, as always, only the best team and the best players win the World Series. This is irrefutable no matter what the stat frauds would like you to believe. No individual stat or combination of stats overshadows why baseball is played...it is to win games. Baseball has set rules as to how teams qualify for the playoffs, right now it is ten teams based on winning and wins. Nothing else matters. Advancement through the playoffs is based on wins and winning. Nothing else matters. The best team and players are the last one winning the final series of the season, the World Series. Nothing else matters. Do not believe the words, excuses, denials, and lies from the stat frauds. Nothing is more important than wins and winning. The following paragraphs discusses wins and winning,
It is amazing how you can define almost every game by production when it matters most. Production when it matters most wins games and winning games is the desired result you want from the players on your team. The players who are more interested in their individual stats and value them more than the team winning are the players you do not want on your team.
That is how the WIN METHOD values players. Each year players are valued on how far they help lead their team. One, the ten teams who make the playoffs. Two, how far the players lead their team into the playoffs. Third the players who reach the World Series and win the World Series.
The ten teams that reach the playoffs have reached the highest level of competition by eliminating two/thirds of the other teams. Now the best are playing only the best for a very short timeframe. That is when produce when it matters most reaches its highest level.
Each series a team is eliminated until you reach the final two teams, the best of the best.
Voila, you have the WIN METHOD, undeniably the best player evaluation tool in the world. No made up convolute man made fake and useless formulas. No exit velocity, no how far a ball is hit, no how much nor how many and individual reached. No fake ERA's. WINS is all the matters and WINS and winning is the only stat that determines the best in the game.
Why do stat frauds hate, bemoan, demean, and deny the WIN METHOD? Stat frauds live by individual statistics. Their best players are only the best based on their numbers. They do not care if their high individual stat players do not help their team make the playoff, the stat frauds just blame the other players on the team. However when the players with lesser individual stats lead their team to the playoffs and beyond and even win the World Series the stat frauds do not recognize them as the best. I guess the stat frauds players who produce most when it matters most is just dumb luck. In my opinion stat frauds and the word dumb are synonyms.
Why haven't the YANKEES made the playoffs since MR. S. passed away? There is only one answer. The answer is the person running the team, Hal Steinbrenner. There have been many opinions expressed all through the sports media and other sources regarding Hal's operating priorities, his direction, his wisdom, and more. No one knows for sure and all are just guessing. But, whatever Hal is doing, it appears it needs to change direction and it needs to change to a positive direction. In my opinion, I believe much of the problem is the analytics being used. Numbers and stat sheets do not win games, players on the field playing baseball for the team to succeed wins games.
Here is a fact for all baseball fans to think about. Since the inception of the WIN METHOD the YANKEES have had the best record in baseball. The most wins and least losses than any other team in either league despite the present owner and his decisions. His father gave him a golden goose and he is turning it into a tarnished golden goose. Time for some polish and elbow grease Hal.
So, now we watch and wait to see what the YANKEES do this hot stove season. It is up to them, nothing any fan or pundit says or thinks makes a difference. I feel I have done my part in advising on WIN METHOD players. Not everyone chosen and or signed by the YANKEES is WIN METHOD. I can do nothing about that, I do not coach nor manage nor run the team. Mr. S. was a strong and staunch believer in the WIN METHOD since its live inception. The success of the YANKEE team from the WIN METHOD inception until the death of Mr. S. was extraordinary. Hal Steinbrenner is not his father and that alone may be the biggest issue why the YANKEES haven't reached the WORLD SERIES for far too long now. Let's see what happens in 2022. We can only hope things change for the positive..

The dynamics of how players get paid needs to change. If you get your team to the playoffs players should get paid more. Take the emphasis off of individual stats and you will create a better game for the fans.

If you paid players who helped their team make the playoffs, I wonder how upcoming players would play the game. The losers like Harper, Machado, and Trout wouldn't care, they have their long term contracts and don't care if their team wins or not. They laugh all the way to the bank.

Everyone baseball fan needs to read this blog post from WIN METHOD. They can learn real baseball and the way the game should be played by everyone.
I can look back at one of the most prolific home run hitters of all time in Mickey Mantle and see him drag bunt for a base hit to start an inning in a close game. He had dozens of bunt hits over his career. When asked about it by sports writers, Mickey said I would rather win the World Series than try for any home run record.

The Yankees have been clearing room on their 40 man roster hopefully to add some prime minor league talent in order to protect them from poachers.

The worse thing with the powerful unions is if you don't join and pay tribute you don't work. Unions take your rights away.

The negativity in the two posts quoted from the nyyforum is glaring and sad. There are a lot of dead men posting over there. So many redundant posts from so few posters. I was kicked out of the nyy forum several years ago. It was because I complained that so many posters there were so negative. A top infectious disease doctor has raised alarm about COVID-19 vaccine mandates despite top federal officials recommending them for businesses, schools, and other institutions.
Dr. Matthew Memoli, who runs a clinical studies unit within the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases—headed by Dr. Anthony Fauci—is scheduled to argue against COVID-19 vaccine mandates during a Dec. 1 seminar hosted by the agency, according to David Wendler, a senior NIH bioethicist who is planning the seminar.
“There’s a lot of debate within the NIH about whether [a vaccine mandate] is appropriate,” he told the Wall Street Journal. “It’s an important, hot topic.”
Memoli had told Fauci in a July 30 email that he believes “the way we are using the vaccines is wrong,” adding that mandated vaccines are “extraordinarily problematic,” according to the WSJ.
In comments to the paper, Memoli said that he supports COVID-19 vaccination in high-risk groups including obese people and the elderly. However, widespread vaccinations for people who have a low risk of death or severe illness from COVID-19 could hamper the U.S. population’s ability to develop more robust protection against the virus via previous infections, he said.

Isn't it common sense that the Yankees have to know who they want to keep and are able to sign, in order to know who they can try to sign out of free agency plus who they may be able to trade for. Example: why would the Yankees trade to trade for a first baseman if they want to keep Rizzo and know they can sign him. The same can be said for every position they think they can upgrade at.
Bob Behan, If Hal Steinbrenner is willing to loosen the purse strings enough, that could improve the Yankee chances. A big help could also be obtaining a couple of guys who don't swing and miss so much. Nothing happens when you strike out, if you put the ball in play you could reach base.
It would be great if Sanchez is gone, if only for the upgrade in defense behind the plate. Unfortunately, he hits just enough home runs and those home runs mask his poor contact, his strikeouts, and interstate batting average.

Rumors and guesses galore re Yankee trades, acquisitions, and decisions on minor league talent. Yankees may want certain players, but it take two teams to make a deal. How much are you willing to overpay? Should you even overpay?
As fans we can speculate all we want while doing it with maybe 10% of information. Information we really don't even know is fact. The experts(?) if every team know the players and the facts far more than any of us will ever know. Thus, I wait and see what happens and then I will comment on any trades or signings the the Yankees make this off season or at anytime they do.
How many fans out there overpay for things they buy? Do you buy item only when on sale, or use coupons, or negotiate a price for a new car? I guess if some of you+ have so much money, you may not care what you pay for anything. Have you sold a car or traded one in? Wouldn't you want the most money you can get for your used car? When the buyer and seller agree, only then does the sale/deal take place. Same for baseball, two parties must agree, no matter what/who is involved in the deal.
In baseball there are other variables involved in deals. Money, position, age, 40 man roster, rule 5 free draft, years of control, etc.
So many factors in trades and deals with everyone having an opinion on whether it's a good deal or a bad deal - but over time, these decisions prove to be correct or not correct, not something that can be predicted in advance. There's just too many uncontrollable variables. Each side in a trade hopes they get what they want from a trade, and because of the variables neither will know until everything plays out on the field over time.
The WIN METHOD evaluation...Not all players can perform at the same level in NY as they have in other cities.

I might add that producing when it matters most is still the single biggest attribute for any player, and producing when it matters most on the biggest stages and under the brightest lights is far harder and far more important than producing when it counts most playing for what you do and when you produce and do not help your team to wins.
Instead of paying a fortune for a multi year shortstop, ride with the best minor league shortstop we have and who earn the job in spring training. If you can't dump Torres, he then becomes the utility infielder. Trade for or sigh a left handed first baseman. Go all in for a top center fielder using chips for one. Chips could include Garcia, Frazier, Sanchez, Voit, Torres, Urshela, a couple of minor leaguers, etc. We have the pieces to make it happen. Just have to find a team or two who need/want some of our talent. You don't tango by yourself.

Frazier was a spotty hitter at best, with prolonged slumps, a lousy fielder, and very injury prone. Absolutely no loss and opens a roster spot.
With Wade and Odor gone I am really interested how the Yankee infield will play out.
With a couple of shortstop possibilities in the high minors I wouldn't think it wise to sign a price long term contract for a FA shortstop. Giving your youngsters a full opportunity to make or break themselves is the way to go.
I will say a prayer each day that I will not have to watch the Yankees play next season with Sanchez in the lineup.

Steve(winstheonlystat), the one part of the post I do not agree with is the shift. A manager should be allowed to play his defensive players anywhere on the field he wants. The rule is the players all must be in fair territory except the catcher. It is then up to the batters to hit the ball where they ain't, which should be very easy with three infielders on one side of second base. If any manager is ignorant enough to not take what is handed to him on a silver platter, that is on him.
