WIN METHOD - HOT STOVE - 2021 - 2022 The world's best internet Yankee site for baseball talk.

It's been a long time between blog posts and I have a lot to say, so hang on fans.

This is going to be a long off season waiting for baseball to resume in 2022.  There are so many questions.  How long will the owner/player collective bargaining take?  Could there be a delay to the start of the 2022 season?  What rule changes will be implemented or restored?  Will there be a designated hitter in the National League?  Sticky stuff agreement?  Dead ball or juiced ball?  New commissioner or does the dolt imbecile Manfred stay?  Will Hal Steinbrenner spend and try to build the Yankees?  Who will the YANKEES get rid of by hook or crook, deal or dump?  Will the top minor leaguers be given a chance to play on the big stage if any prove themselves in spring training or continue to be held back?  Will manager Aaron Boone ever say a negative about anyone who doesn't go all out?  who always swings from the heals?  who does not hit against the shift when it is right there in front of them?  passed balls?  dumb  base running?  constant misplays?  not hitting behind runners?  watching their batted balls that could be doubles or triples turn into singles because they did not run hard?  and my pet peeve, failure to score runners from third base with less than two outs?

I would like to congratulate the WORLD CHAMPION Atlanta Braves for winning the 2021 World Series.  The Braves are the best team in baseball and their players are the best in baseball for what they accomplished in winning the World Series.  Each year, as always, only the best team and the best players win the World Series.  This is irrefutable no matter what the stat frauds would like you to believe.   No individual stat or combination of stats overshadows why baseball is played...it is to win games.  Baseball has set rules as to how teams qualify for the playoffs, right now it is ten teams based on winning and wins.  Nothing else matters.  Advancement through the playoffs is based on wins and winning.  Nothing else matters.  The best team and players are the last one winning the final series of the season, the World Series.  Nothing else matters.  Do not believe the words, excuses, denials, and lies from the stat frauds.  Nothing is more important than wins and winning.  The following paragraphs discusses wins and winning,

It is amazing how you can define almost every game by production when it matters most. Production when it matters most wins games and winning games is the desired result you want from the players on your team. The players who are more interested in their individual stats and value them more than the team winning are the players you do not want on your team.

That is how the WIN METHOD values players. Each year players are valued on how far they help lead their team. One, the ten teams who make the playoffs. Two, how far the players lead their team into the playoffs. Third the players who reach the World Series and win the World Series.

The ten teams that reach the playoffs have reached the highest level of competition by eliminating two/thirds of the other teams. Now the best are playing only the best for a very short timeframe. That is when produce when it matters most reaches its highest level.
Each series a team is eliminated until you reach the final two teams, the best of the best.

Voila, you have the WIN METHOD, undeniably the best player evaluation tool in the world. No made up convolute man made fake and useless formulas. No exit velocity, no how far a ball is hit, no how much nor how many and individual reached. No fake ERA's. WINS is all the matters and WINS and winning is the only stat that determines the best in the game.

Why do stat frauds hate, bemoan, demean, and deny the WIN METHOD?  Stat frauds live by individual statistics.  Their best players are only the best based on their numbers.  They do not care if their high individual stat players do not help their team make the playoff, the stat frauds just blame the other players on the team.   However when the players with lesser individual stats lead their team to the playoffs and beyond and even win the World Series the stat frauds do not recognize them as the best.  I guess the stat frauds players who produce most when it matters most is just dumb luck.  In my opinion stat frauds and the word dumb are synonyms.

Why haven't the YANKEES made the playoffs since MR. S. passed away?  There is only one answer.  The answer is the person running the team, Hal Steinbrenner.  There have been many opinions expressed all through the sports media and other sources regarding Hal's operating priorities, his direction, his wisdom, and more.  No one knows for sure and all are just guessing.  But, whatever Hal is doing, it appears it needs to change direction and it needs to change to a positive direction.  In my opinion, I believe much of the problem is the analytics being used.  Numbers and stat sheets do not win games, players on the field playing baseball for the team to succeed wins games.

Here is a fact for all baseball fans to think about.  Since the inception of the WIN METHOD the YANKEES have had the best record in baseball.  The most wins and least losses than any other team in either league despite the present owner and his decisions.  His father gave him a golden goose and he is turning it into a tarnished golden goose.  Time for some polish and elbow grease Hal.

So, now we watch and wait to see what the YANKEES do this hot stove season.  It is up to them, nothing any fan or pundit says or thinks makes a difference.  I feel I have done my part in advising on WIN METHOD players.  Not everyone chosen and or signed by the YANKEES is WIN METHOD.  I can do nothing about that, I do not coach nor manage nor run the team.   Mr. S. was a strong and staunch believer in the WIN METHOD since its live inception.  The success of the YANKEE team from the WIN METHOD inception until the death of Mr. S. was extraordinary.  Hal Steinbrenner is not his father and that alone may be the biggest issue why the YANKEES haven't reached the WORLD SERIES for far too long now.  Let's see what happens in 2022.  We can only hope things change for the positive..

LET'S GO YANKEES

Its refreshing to see someone like Rizzo whose been a significant player for a long time do so many things to help his team WIN. Every hitter is going to have stretches when he doesn’t hit, but there are so many other things he can do to help his team WIN. Whether its making a great defensive play. moving a runner, smart baserunning, choking up and making contact when needed, etc. We’ve seen Rizzo do all of the above. For me, that’s the beauty of game. I continue to maintain if you watch enough baseball and know what you’re looking at you’ll know who the good/WINNING players are. That is the WIN METHOD.

Two series sweeps in a row. Playing well. The only thing I see being needed is an upgrade or two of a couple of players as long as the chemistry and camaraderie are satisfactory.

Cory said...

Individual stats are only a means to keep score. Wins is the only stat that determines the best teams and players.

Any team can beat any other team on any given day. You just have to stay focused, produce when it matters, offensively, defensively, and pitching.

Final. Yankees win 10-4. Taillon had a bad game tonight and could not finish five innings. Taillon went 4+ innings giving up 4 runs 9 hits and a walk. Luetge, Peralta, and Marinaccio pitched the final five innings allowing 0 runs 3 hits and 0 walks. Luetge earned the win and Peralta a hold. There was no save. Stanton solo HR, Judge 2 run HR, and Rizzo 3 run HR.

Final. Yankees lose 8-1. The Yankees haven't played a game like this in a long time. A full-scale clunker. Poor pitching, poor hitting, and poor fielding. That trio will lose just about every game. Series even at one, with rubber game tomorrow. Need a win to take series.
Better get a good night's sleep guys.

jimbo said...

Watching the game tonight was painful.

YankeeMike said...

Both Taillon and Cortes with poor outings last two days. Both coming after they each had great efforts the games prior. Both flirting with no-hit games and combined only giving up one run. Both threw over 100 pitches in their great games with and much pressure. The two games this week neither lasted five innings and neither were sharp.

Cole starts tonight and he also had a great outing last time out, also flirting with a no-hit game. Let's see how he fairs tonight.

Tony Gigante said...

YankeeMike, Cole has thrown over hundred pitch games multiple times this season. He will be fine and as the ace of the staff will win tonight allowing the Yankees to win this series.

BIGTIMEYANKEE said...

YankeeMike, I agree. Baseball is so much a mind game, pressure, circumstances, etc. When both Taillon and Cortes got caught up in their no hitter games, there was a strain on their mind and a strain on the bodies and arm, which reared its head in the next game for each.

Tony Gigante, Yes, Cole has been thru the mill many time over his career. I think and hope he will be fine for his game, which is tonight.

Jimmy Thames said...

I will not be surprised when both Taillon and Cortes excel in their next starts.

The Yankees win 10-7 after being down 7-3 and their ace pounded out of the game in the third inning. After losing badly last night, and falling behind tonight, it was a stellar comeback.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 10-7. In a never give up game the Yankees overcame a pathetic pitching performance from Cole who only went 2 1/3 innings, giving up 7 runs and 5 home runs. Cole left with the Yankees trailing 7-3. For the Yankees to have a chance the bullpen would need to produce for the rest of the game. And that they did, Luetge, Castro, Peralta, King and Holmes pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up 0 runs, 1 hit, and 2 hits while striking out 5. What an amazing performance from the quintet of Yankee relievers. In the meantime the Yankee offense did their part to earn the win scoring 7 runs over the last 6 innings. 2 runs in the 5th, 2 runs in the 6th, 2 runs in the 7th and 1 run in the 8th for the win. A team effort if there ever was one. Production from so many when it mattered most to earn the WIN.

Extra innings tied at one.

Arnies Army said...

Ok, lets get this game over with. 1-1, Yanks coming to bat in the 12th. Yanks only have five hits in the game. Do it now. IKF ghost runner on 2nd. Coming up for Yankees, DJ, Judge, Rizzo, DJ strikes out on a 3-2 pitch strikes out on a pitch in the dirt. Judge is intentionally walked. Men on first and second with one out. Rizzo pops out to very short right field. Two outs. Gallo comes up. Gallo strikes out.

How about this epic frustration and failure. Twelve innings played, one run for each team, each a solo home run. But, both teams combined have had chances to score 31 times, and 31 times they have failed.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 2-1 on walk off pinch hit rbi single by Trevino. After both teams went 0 for 36 when it mattered most on the 37th try Trevion produced on his only at bat of the game. Louie Louie six innings gives up 1 run. Yankee bullpen, seven innings 0 runs.

AAA said...

What a hell of a game. Yanks win 2-1 in 13th inning.

Grosner said...

Cubs 0-18 with running in scoring position, Yankees just one better. WINMETHOD isn't just the players and teams who get the hits when it counts, but the pitchers/catchers who can execute the right pitch with runners on base. Credit to Yankees pitchers for a clutch, gutsy "WINMETHOD" pitching performance (really all year)

Pete H said...

Let's get another win. Let's go Yankees.

Sharon/NC said...

Monty starts tonight's game. A win takes this series. Maybe a little less dramatic.

Ursala Pei said...

Amazing. Six innings of one run ball from Louie Louie and another seven innings of no runs from the bullpen. This is the stuff from where wins come from.

Steve(winstheonlystat} said...

The tenets of the WIN METHOD have stated that winning is accomplished by every player on the team. Everyone contributes in their own way on any given day. Be it offensively, defensively, pitching, coaches, etc. Last night so many failures when it mattered most by both side. Conversely it can be said, so much production when it mattered most. When someone fails, someone else had success.

What is so great about using the WIN METHOD evaluation tool, you will see just how valuable any player can be at any time in any game in helping their team win. Final. Yankees win 12-3. Monty six solid innings for the win. Yankee home runs from Stanton, a 2 run shot, Rizzo, a grand slam, and Gallo, a meaningless 9th inning 2 run add on. Banuelos, Castro, and Luetge closed out the final three innings and none worked hard.

Jimmy Thames said...

In the three games the Yankees just won from the Rays they scored a total of 8 runs on 12 hits. Tonight, in one game against the Blue Jays they scored 12 runs on 14 hits. Go figure. You can see how stats are relatively meaningless, but the wins are infallible.

What fans don't often look at is how each individual player plays a different role on a team. Even with their individual weaknesses, all players also have strengths.

The Yankees have a lot of players who have strengths that complement each other. The sum of the strengths on this team is greater than the sum of the weaknesses. The final result is truly the sign of a championship caliber team.

Boone got all possible left handed bats in lineup. I would love to see these guys earn a win today. When and if you get the opportunity, produce. How about this, if the Yankees win todays game they will go to the World Series. And if they Yankees don't win todays game they will go to the World Series.

Baseball scouts look for talent, and what they feel a player will develop into. WIN METHOD looks for the desire, the character, the attitude. The highest paid players don't all fit the WIN METHOD profile. The failures play for themselves, their desires of money, their wants and wishes, while failing the team and teammates. WIN METHOD is copied but he cannot be duplicated, he is special, he is one of a kind, he is the greatest baseball talent evaluator in the world. Cole pitches a quick 1,2,3 7th inning. Leads 2-0 and has a no-hitter going. Has thrown 102 pitches.

Yanks23245 said...

Cole gives up lead off single in eighth. Stays in and next batter hits drive to center field where Judge makes a leaping catch at the wall. Holmes called in to try for a five out save. Holmes gives up double, men on 2nd & 3rd with one out. Ground out to Holmes unassisted, run scores and runner on third with two out. Run is charged to Cole, so he goes 7 1/3 innings allowing one run on one hit. Infield dribbler to third base ties the game. Walk, men on 1st & 2nd with two outs. Strike out. 2-2 after 8.

Jackson DeWitt-Iowa said...

Tonight's game had everything in it, well almost everything. No hitter into the 8th inning. Single, double, triple, home run, walk, score on error, sacfly, blown save by bullpen, a win by bullpen, a save by bullpen. Best of all, a 4-2 WIN. Another game tomorrow.

Steve(winstheonlystat} said...

In my opinion, and as a big WIN METHOD advocate, there was no reason for Cole to come out and pitch in the eighth inning last night just because he had a no-hit game going. He crashed and burned on the first batter and it put the game in jeopardy. The team winning is the top priority, and not player comes before the team. I know it was Boone's decision, but Cole could have said to Boone, go with the bullpen. How much harm could it have done to Cole if he gave up no hits in the eighth and came out for the ninth and had to throw 130 plus pitches?

Walt Belamy said...

It looks like the stat fraud scorer has taken the win away from Holmes, gave it to Peralta, and then took the save away from Peralta. These decisions are the stat frauds garbage. These frauds decide hits and errors and are far too many times done with prejudice(s). This makes their decisions when added to player meaningless stats even more meaningless. The only thing the mattered and counted last night and in every game, one team got the WIN and the other team got the loss. End of story.

Ben Rosen/Israel said...

A player who performs and produces when it counts and matters the most often is better than any high individual stat player who produces more when it doesn't count and doesn't matter.

That allowed Judge to pinch hit and on the first pitch he see just misses tying game as he flies out to the left field wall to end game. Need a win tomorrow to win series.

Cortes was not sharp tonite. He even may have been called pretty lucky because there were several hard hit outs. Schmidt coming in to replace Cortes in the fifth to face a right handed batter and giving up a two run home run eventually was the game defining failure when it mattered most.

Let's get one thing straight about stats. They tell a story. When keeping an impeccable and defining score card, a person reading the scorecard decades later should be able to picture in their mind how and where every out, every hit, every play, was made. Stats tell the history of every players individual achievements. Stats will tell what every player was good at and stats can help predict what a player may do in the future. The biggest problem with stats is they do not, but they do not tell you who the best of the best players in the game were, are, and will be. Only wins and winning can do that. In other words wins and winning define the best players and teams throughout baseball, over decade after decade through today. Also, some players with great individual stats can also be the best of the best players, but they must have the wins and winning to declare them the best. I was born in 1934 and have seen a heck of a lot of baseball, players and team, I know. That is why I am a WIN METHOD fan, he knows baseball and what it is all about.

First and second two outs Judge comes up, Takes three balls, and then swings at 3-0 pitch for a solid walk off game winning single to the left field wall on one bounce. One heck of an amazing come back win. Yankees had 3 runs on 2 hits over first 8 innings. Then scored 4 runs on 4 hits in the 9th inning when it mattered and counted the most. The WIN METHOD rules.
