WIN METHOD - HOT STOVE --- 2019 - 2020

It is that time again WIN METHOD fans.  The 2019 baseball season has concluded.  The best teams and the best players made it to the playoffs and after advancing through the playoffs by winning each series and eliminating each team they played, the Washington Nationals won the World Series and are the best baseball team and the best baseball players in the world.  Congratulations to the Nationals for all you have accomplished.  There is only one way for a team and for players to become the best of the best, and that is with wins and winning.  No individual stat matters.  Only wins and winning make you the best.  Sorry stat frauds, when you learn this you will learn real baseball.

Yes, the 2019 season is over.  The YANKEES did their best and it was not good enough as they lost to the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series.  However, it looked like the YANKEES took enough out of the Astros  that it may have cost them winning the World Series.  The YANKEES will need some work to do this winter to find and to put together the last few pieces they need to become the best of the best.  Considering the massive amounts of crippling injuries our YANKEE team had to endure over the season, making the playoffs was a fine achievement in itself.  But that was the past.  Now we look to the future.

There are likely as many opinions as there are YANKEE fans on what the team needs to do over the winter to '"win it all" in 2020.  There is the free agent route with several pieces available, there are our own pieces available who if healthy for an entire season will help, and then there are own in house pieces available that are blooming and growing in the minors.   Several of which may contribute greatly in 2020.  There are also trade possibilities that may become on option.

YANKEE management will be busy this winter.  How much money to spend on talent.  Is the money spent worth the investment?   Paying players very high salaries for multiple years is seldom a remedy, and in fact has hurt teams who have gone that route more than it has helped them,  The trade route is a possibility, but it takes two parties to make a deal that each party feels is good for their team.  Then there is the bloom and grow route.  Spring training will provide some answers, but the hot stove will be only ashes before spring training provides some answers.  We will just have to see what happens and how things shake out this winter and spring.  Each decision made by management determines how and what the next decision may be.  Throwing money at big contracts is up to management.  You WIN METHOD fans know my opinion on big long term contracts, 'just say no'.  We said no to Harper and Machado last year and it paid dividends over the season as the YANKEES made the playoffs even with all the injuries.  Harper and Machado each cost their team a lot of dollars and neither team made the playoffs and are saddled with many years of an overpaid single piece of talent.

Lets all have a fun hot stove season, keep offering your opinions, thoughts, and ideas, and be happy you are not the one making the decisions.  Remember fans, the YANKEE management team has more knowledge and information than you (we) do.   There must be financial limits and that is one thing everyone should remember.  So, here we go, let's turn on the stove and see what we can cook up.  LETS GO YANKEES.

Yankees get their first spring training game win 4-1 today as minor leaguers do it all for Yankees. The Yankees used 8 pitchers to throw 9 innings of one run four hit baseball and the offense was all minor leaguers with the big hit by Herrera a 2 run triple to win the game.

Louie Louie out for season with Tommy John surgery. The door opens wider for the youngsters.

Deb F said...

Tough luck for Louie Louie as the door gets slammed shut in his face. Another door opens wide looking for who of the young pitchers will come through. Positives are a stepping stone while negatives are a broken crutch.

Harry Stavris said...

Louie Louie will likely miss half of next year also. That adds up to about 2 1/2 to 3 years of little to no pitching. Tough road to come back from, but he may come back even better with less wear and tear on his arm.

HerecomestheJudge said...

Are the Yankees trying to have back to back injury record breaking seasons? No matter, we will play thru any roadblocks.

Benny Pake said...

Yes we can and yes we will.

Time for the young pitchers to show if they can produce when it matters most. Step up guys, this is your chance.

Joe Hognson said...

With spring training here and all that is happening I must get back to the cheating scandal by the Astros and sux and the Rob Manfred. Manfred is as much as a low life as the players and management who did the cheating. Manfred should lose his job for doing nothing in punishing the cheats.

Angel Cordero said...

Yanks23245, What you said. The young pitchers need to earn their spots. The door is open, who and or how many will step up and step thru the door.

Lou Lis said...

Tanaka makes his first start tomorrow against the Nationals. 1PM game time.

Linda Pardo said...

The good of the Louie Louie TJ surgery is the news came very early in camp. Gives the Yankees and the players time to plan their decisions based on who steps up to the challenge of winning a rotation spot.

Stanton injured again with calf strain. Oh well, a 2019 deja vu.

Tony Manchu said...

In my opinion Stanton has all these injuries because of his extensive weight lifting regimen. He has become muscle bound and any extended use of muscles by way of running, twisting, etc causes them to strain.

Kenny Sheperd said...

Tony Manchu, I have heard about that. You hit the nail on the head, that seems to be exactly what Stanton is and why he keeps having injuries like is having repeatedly.

It is just the beginning of spring training but our catcher Gary 'meatball' Sanchez is batting 0 for spring training so far. Maybe we can jinx him into getting a hit at some point.

Norm Jackson said...

Guy Padikian, as of yet the sad part of Sanchez's spring is he is not hitting the ball hard or hitting in tough luck. He has looked terrible. Hope the pendulum swings the other way. If not, he will be a giant black hole in the lineup.

First MLB lineup of spring. If Judge and Stanton out for opening day this could be close to opening day lineup. Issue is Gary "meatball" Sanchez.

Evan Donahue said...

No way on this earth should Sanchez be batting cleanup. Until he show he can hit consistently he shouldn't even be in the lineup.

1.Deglan 3 for 5

5.Thole 2 for 9
6.Sawyer 1 for 5
7.Sanchez 1 for 12
8.Sands 0 for 1

Scary to think that Gary 'meatball' Sanchez is the number one catcher as of now.

Nathan Riley said...

Cory, allow me to add, Sanchez's one hit was an 80 foot infield roller to the first baseman and the pitcher did not cover first base. If the pitcher covered first Sanchez still would not have a hit. Looking on the bright side, he is do.

Yanks/Orioles end in 5-5 tie. Yankees were bitten by some fluke hits, bad bounces, wind, and iffy defense allowing all the Orioles runs. Yanks used mostly lower tier players. A should have won game, but it is only a spring training game.

If you are fair and objective Chris Iannetta should open the season as Yankee starting catcher. He has earned the job while MEATBALL has lost the job.

The problem with Iannetta is age and no upside. But the way Sanchez has been going, anyone alive would be better. I do not think Higashioka is an answer either but he is also better than Sanchez right now. Sanchez is creating more drama than the team needs right now.

Fred Slube said...

If we have to play MEATBALL, he has to bat 7th or 8th until he earns moving up in the lineup. The way he is hitting he is a black hole and black holes show up far to many times when it matters most. That is not good for the team.

I find it very sad for Yankee fans that the injury ridden season of 2019 is carrying over into the 2020 season. What I find saddest is that some fans blame players, managers, coaches, owners, doctors and anyone they can come what with. These same fans make up stories about these people they blame as being stupid, incompetent, and any other foul adjective they wish to fill in the blank with as the ones responsible for everything. Those fans should be ashamed of themselves and I am afraid they are a product of the progressive liberal left wing democratic party of this nation who are leading the USA down a path of despair, depravity, and doom. I am over ninety years old, seen a lot and done a lot and don't have much more time left in me. Logan/Kentucky said...

Yankees go down 3-1. Deivi so so giving up 3 runs in 3 1/3. Cessa better going 3 2/3 allowing 0 runs on 1 hit. Cessa may be earning fifth spot in rotation. That would allow Schmidt, King, and Deivi to start the season in minors and hone their skills to see which one gets called up first.

Dinty Moore said...

Deivi was a little unlucky today. But that is part of the game. He had men on and couldn't get the third out when it mattered most allowing a 2 rbi seeing eye grounder between third and short that in the final look meant the game.

How many of you remember the swine flu of 2009 in the USA. The coronavirus is mild compared to the swine flu which killed thousands of Americans under the age of 65. But the swine flu was kept quiet by the corrupt, foul, and prejudiced media. Now the same media is exploiting and blowing the coronavirus to scare Americans. Think people, and think what the media has been trying to do for the past three years and why.

Jill Byrnes said...

I forget, here is the documentation for the swine flu. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21342903

Victor Grandozi said...

I, my family, and my friends are all doing what we always have done on a daily basis. We go out to eat, go shopping, go to work, travel, etc etc. Coronavirus is real, but it is not debilitating. And it has very little to no chance of killing you like the swine flu did just 10 years ago. Jill Byrnes is right, this is a media hoax.

Pedro,Seattle said...

People, this is a baseball forum and I realize there is no baseball right now. The culprit is the media and their blowing up of the coronavirus. When the coronavirus starts killing hundreds and then thousands of healthy Americans liked the swine flu did in 2009 then it will be something to truly worry about. Don't take the fake medias bait baseball fans. They have an agenda and it is not a good agenda for the American people. If you get the coronavirus you will live and it is very likely you won't even get the virus. I live in the cesspool of Seattle and I am not doing anything different than I always do.

jimbo said...

Jill Byrnes, I can't believe the hospitalizations and deaths from the swine flu. It was hid from the people, now the coronavirus is made to be the end of the earth. Stop the media nonsense now and lets play baseball.

muchomachoman said...

We have right now 40 deaths in the USA and everything is getting shut down. In 2009 in one year the USA had 18,000 deaths from the swine flu and nothing was shut down. In 2009 you had the terrorist supporter and enabler Obama as president and the media kissing his behind. Now we have the America and Americans first president Trump and the media is trying to destroy him. UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

If the season is delayed maybe Judge and Stanton will be ready to go for the whenever start. Also, Paxton and German return come sooner into the season.

Pretty much everyone who come here to the WIN METHOD blog knows that the WIN METHOD promotes winning by players who produce when it matters most while stat frauds promote individual stats and support players with the highest individual stats even when they do not help their team win or are essence losers. The same can be said for the media which is hand in hand with the philosophy of stat frauds. As WIN METHOD fans we know the stat frauds are fools and or believe in fake numbers, so they are relegated to the meaningless category by fans in the know. That is the same as the media, they lie, they make things up, and they lead their followers down the Rangoon Receptacle. The media hides facts in 2009 where overwhelming amounts of Americans were hospitalized and thousands upon thousands died and the media said nothing. Now the media streams fake news stories and repeats over and over how deady and how bad the coronavirus is while it is a very mild and a very minor virus compared to the deadly swine flu virus. Hang in there fans, all this will pass and we will have an election and the people who are not fools and haven't been fooled will re-elect America's greatest president.

coryankee said...

Very likely after the shutdown and baseball starts the guys on the team who want it more will come out on all cylinders firing. The players on the teams that stay in camp as a unit you would think will have an edge when the games count.

Patricia Piper said...

I love that the guys want to stay in camp as a team. Sounds WIN METHOD and smart.

Yankeefan2 said...

The best thing for the players to do is be out in the fresh air and sunlight in spring training camp which is a controlled and protected space. All players are monitored daily and as needed. Keep training and be ready. To hell with the ignorant naysayers.

Very few if anyone remembers the swine flu outbreak, hospitalizations, and deaths. All hid and covered up by the obama administration, the democrat liberals, and the media. They are all a disgrace to the nation. Yankee minor leaguer has been reported with coronavirus. Has recovered within a few days. Here is info: TAMPA, Fla. -- A Yankees Minor League player has tested positive for the coronavirus, general manager Brian Cashman said on Sunday, marking the first known case to impact the Major League Baseball world.

The team is not divulging the player’s identity, citing HIPAA regulations, and Cashman said that the player’s symptoms are improving.

“The player’s symptoms have dissipated, and he is resolved symptom-wise,” Cashman said. “No more fever, no more fatigue. He is much better, although he is still isolated.”

According to Cashman, the player called the club on Friday morning to report a fever and fatigue. He did not report to the facility, and team medical staff checked his temperature before testing him for influenza and strep throat.

Both tests were negative, prompting the club to send him to Tampa General Hospital on Friday morning for what Cashman said was the first -- and, to date, only -- coronavirus test issued to any Yankees player, coach or employee. The positive result was delivered to the Yankees late on Saturday by a laboratory in Tallahassee, Fla.

“He’s a younger player, and so because of that -- first and foremost, he was not in any of the groups that were with Major League players,” Cashman said. “We did our due diligence about any staff members or Major League players that were here Thursday when he hadn’t been presenting any symptoms at that time. … What were the possible interactions?

“Did he stay for the game? He did not. He left early and went home and stayed at his home and ordered pizza. He did not have any interactions with our Major League players. And the [Hillsborough County] Department of Health has communicated to us that they had very little concern about that.”

The player who tested positive has never entered George M. Steinbrenner Field and there is no known link to any of the Major League players, according to director of media relations Jason Zillo.

Good news on Judge...

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge revealed he had a collapsed lung that has healed and said his broken rib is improving. Judge had a CT scan on Friday. The Yankees announced two weeks ago that Judge had a stress fracture to his first right rib. "The bone is still about the same, slight improvement," Judge said as he left Steinbrenner Field. "The bone is healing the way it should be, so probably another test here in a couple more weeks and go from there." Judge added the scan showed a "pneumothorax came back completely gone."
"A little thing on the lung that we were having a little issue with, but that was all healed up." Judge said. "Good to go. Which means I can fly if I needed to go home."
The 27-year-old didn't play in any spring training games because of soreness in his right pectoral muscle and shoulder. With Opening Day pushed back into mid-May at the earliest due to the new coronavirus, Judge has more time to recover without missing games.
"That's the silver lining in all of this, just having the ability to not feel rushed trying to get back for a certain date, especially since we really don't have a date," Judge said. "Just trying to let it heal, don't try to rush it." Judge plans to continue working out and getting treatment at the Yankees' spring training complex.

Aceman said...

Looking good for Judge. Hope the season starts relatively soon and things get back to normal.

A possibility????? If I am not mistaken there are seven roofed MLB stadiums. If you played two games a day in each stadium that would allow for 14 games each day. In one week MLB could play 98 games. No rainouts ever. There are 30 MLB teams so each day two teams could have a day off allowing for an off day every two weeks for every team. That means every team could play 13 games every two weeks equalling. In ten weeks each team would play 65 games. I bet MLB using the little brains they have could come up with a viable albeit shortened baseball season even if they didn't start until July 1st. If they played thru the first week in October that would mean 14 weeks and 91 games. Round the numbers out and with each league playing a fair and equitable schedule and you could have a season and then even the playoffs. Heck, with closed stadiums you could even play the entire season and the playoffs right into winter.
