WIN METHOD YANKEE BASEBALL SEASON 2020 shortened

Finally, it looks like we will have some semblance of a Major League Baseball season in 2020.  Baseball for 2020 was halted by a Chinese oriented deadly virus that is traveling the world and killing massive amounts of innocent people.  In March baseball was shut down as was most of America.  As most of America regains its footing and is starting to recover, so is baseball.

The MLB owners and the MLBPA (players association) yesterday have agreed to play a partial 2020 season commencing around July 23-24.   A second spring training will open July 1st, and each team will get in shape in their own home ballparks all across the nation.  There is tentatively a 60 game season that will be played.  There is always a probability what I post here may be amended by the owners, players, and baseball commissioner.  Each division will play 40 games in their own division.  That would make for 40 games, 10 with each rival in their division.  Each team would also play 4 games against each team in their opposite division for 20 games making for the total of a 60 game season.  The divisions will play each other geographically limiting travel.  East vs east, central vs central, and west vs west.  The regular season will end the last week of September.  As of now each division winner and two wild cards in each league will make the playoffs.  That is the same as the 162 game season.  The inferior AAAA national league will use the designated hitter for their games for the first time in baseball history.  The American League has used the designated hitter since April 6, 1973 when Ron Blomberg of the New York Yankees became the league's first ever designated hitter.  Also extra inning games will be started with a runner on second base which makes a mockery of the game and is a sham that demeans the game of baseball.  Not all changes are bad, however this change is bad.

The playoffs will conclude the season as usual hopefully ending in October.  In the end as it always has and hopefully always will the best players and best teams will reach the playoffs and then advance to the final series, the world's greatest sports event the WORLD SERIES.

The season without question will be shorter and different.  Look at it this way, every one of the sixty games becomes far more important and losing streaks will eliminate teams fast, while a big winning streak can carry a team right into the playoffs.  The players will need to get their heads fully into the season from the first game on.   The fun part is the WIN METHOD becomes even more important.  The players who produce when it matters most and do it the most often will lead their team through the season and into the playoffs.   Hopefully all goes well healthwise and the season can be completed.

No matter what, happens and as always, LETS GO YANKEES!

PS....thank you all, WIN METHOD fans from all over the world for your unwavering support, your comments, and for being the most intelligent baseball fans in the world.   The ignorance of the stat frauds  doesn't exist here.  They have no game.  They are  losers who love losing players.

WIN METHOD, how is your season going considering Covid-19.

Nice to hear from you again WIN METHOD. Love ya,

yankeeclipper said...

For the died in the wool true baseball fan the extra inning rule will be a joke and hopefully will be abandoned by the smarter baseball officials in charge. But then again, the smarter people are aging and the younger indoctrinated imbeciles are more involved.

WIN METHOD said...

Carl Hooks, still interviewing. More spaced and more slowly equalling less interviews. Different protocols in different states and countries. It is what it is and it isn't good.

Wolverine Willie said...

What is a short season? The only one I know is the nfl and the 16 games they play. A 16 game season is a joke. Most inequitable, shortest I know of, game is a farce. 60 minute clock with about 8 minutes of live action.

Tug Garner said...

But, but, but, football players can only play once a week. Play completely unbalanced schedules also.

Wilsonsway said...

Really looking forward to some baseball, America's game.

Asoka Gangadean said...

I can see some details shifting as everything shakes out.

George W said...

We should be completely healthy and ready to go.

Cory said...

Producing when it matters most will be at a premium in a shorter season just as it has been during the playoffs. Now it will be magnified.

Deb F said...

Can't wait to hear the cry of PLAY BALL!

bigbadwolf said...

Every team is in the same boat. Injured players should be recovered except those who had major surgeries or other type of major issues. The mental part of baseball is all important now more than ever. Players will need to come prepared and the ones who eliminate "the slump" will help carry their team the most. Not much if any room for excuses, ifs, ands, or buts. Wins are the only thing that counts and the only thing that will determine the best teams and the best players. If there are no stoppages to the shorter season it will be very interesting to say the least to see who rises and who falls.

Steve(winstheonlystat) said...

It's about 50-50 among stat frauds. Half want baseball this season and the other half don't care and think the season will be a fraud like they are. Then half of the half that are looking forward to baseball say they season is not a real one and the winner will be a fraud like them. The stat frauds truly are something else.

Tom Wilson said...

Opening day roster to have 30 players dropping to 28 after two weeks and then dropping to 26 after another two weeks.

Walt Belamy said...

Tom Wilson, All of that is fine, didn't even mind the designated hitter change. The DH made the game better in my opinion. Eliminating the almost sure out pitcher having to have to hit.
Don't like at all the extra inning with a runner at 2nd base. That inherently changes the game itself.

Vladimir Tinzak said...

Could you ever imagine baseball played once a week. You would need only one starter. Imagine how much he would get paid. Pretty much how much of a joke professional football is.

Stanley Chin said...

Vladimir Tinzak, Cole would start every game. You wouldn't need a 25 man roster. And the pro baseball game would still be better than the pro football game.

Sal Mineo said...

Come on people, don't give Manfred any ideas.

No new info on 2020 season so far since announcement of season opening for July 23-24.

Patrick Healy said...

Will the teams play any spring training games in July before opening day games for all teams?

johnsondc said...

Patrick Healy, I would hope so, but I haven't heard anything. Might come out when the schedule for season comes out.

YankeeBob said...

The first Yankee to go down will most likely be 'meatball'. Via either swinging a bat wildly or jogging down to first base.

muchomachoman said...

YankeeBob, you have to also consider "meatball" maybe getting a walk and injuring himself walking down to first base.

Teena/Bronx said...

You guys are unmerciful. I hope all of you as I am are wishing for Gary 'meatball' Sanchez to have his greatest 80 games of his career.

PS.. My husband and I are making progress on getting out of this hell hole city.

WIN METHOD said...

From what was passed on to me, MLB teams will have players report to their home parks by July 1 for a second spring training, which will last roughly three weeks. They will play a handful of exhibition games before the regular season starts on July 23 or 24.

Patrick Healy said...

WIN METHOD, thank you for the update.

Teena/Bronx, good for you. Good luck. You will love getting back to civilization.

Logan/Kentucky said...

Teena/Bronx, civilization only if you move to a red state.

Don't be surprised if Paxton comes in most ready to pitch.

Anthony Naro said...

Less than four weeks until baseball.

Diane Stahl said...

It will be an interesting 2020 baseball season to say the least. But it will be a foot note to what is going on in the world and particularly the USA this year.

Cory said...

For the record books, no cumulative records will be broken this season. Only something like batting averages (BA) and earned run averages (ERA) can set records, but they would be asterisked by a very short season. No matter, it will all come down to wins and winning.

yankeeclipper said...

I’m excited that it’s finally going happen. Every game will be played like September baseball. And it’s all within the division so there will be some real heated competition. Only issue I have is the designated runner in extra innings. It’s utter nonsense. No need for it at all. What’s next? A bullseye in behind the CF fence, where if you hit you get an extra run added on.

AAA said...

yankeeclipper, The runner at second base for extra innings is a very stupid idea. Likely by someone who won't attach his name to it.

will-i-am said...

MLB games will be scheduled just like they are in a full 162 game season. This is because of the contract between MLB and the television networks.

RLA said...

Just think of this being the final 60 games of the season and all the teams are pretty much even going into them. Fans would be going crazy during these 60 games. That's what it is a drive to the finish line and only wins (as always) will decide who is best.

Gabe Dreuer said...

RLA, these are the last 60 games of he season. Playoffs will follow for teams who make it.

sid greenberg,nyc said...

August, September, and October will be fun. Cap it off in November with Trump win.

Mike Smith said...

sid greenberg,nyc, Hear hear.

coryankee said...

Yanks23245, I think you are right. Paxton didn't start throwing until sometime in March and did so very slowly on flat ground per doctor's orders. Then went to the mound and outings were well spaced out. He was hard throwing by May 1st and was continuing to build all thru the Chinese virus garbage. He started to really step up to be ready for the June 1st goal he was trying to meet or beat. I bet he kept throwing all thru June and I bet he will be able to go longer than almost anyone. Knowing guys like Tanaka, Cole, and Happ they will be well ready to go five innings minimum to start the season. And so will the other teams pitchers. The July 23-24 start is for real and only wins will make the playoffs. All other stats are for the stat fraud fake fantasy world games they play and live in.

muchomachoman said...

All pitchers will be ready as will all other players. If they don't realize that 60 games determines who goes to the playoffs and who goes home they shouldn't be baseball MLB players.
The first player who gets off to a bad start and then blames the short training period should be chucked from any team he's on. Excuses for the stat frauds as they try to explain why their "superstar" highest paid players fail time and again.

Hobbs said...

What will some people say when this season turns out to be fantastic. I know the stat frauds will say it is a small sample size and means nothing.

Woody/Atlanta said...

Every game will be a big game in a 60 game season in order to make the playoffs.

Izy Hernandez said...

Tanaka, Cole, and Happ are veterans, they know what will be expected of them and will deliver.

Lou Lis said...

Izy Hernandez, and Paxton. And Chapman, Britton, etc.

Hogan Clingman said...

The 2020 MLB season. Baseball at its best. With a very flawed uneven, unbalanced schedule. Just win, get into the playoffs and go from there.

Logan/Kentucky said...

Hogan Chapman, every team within their division has the same chance to win their division. The schedule for 2020 may be the most even for every team within their own division.

Yankeeforever said...

I think the season will be very different in that at some point, teams making the playoffs will have to face teams they haven't seen at all since last year.

From the horse's mouth.........At a time when almost everything seems to have changed, the message being relayed from the top of the Yankees organization has remained consistent. Tom Wilson said...

Harvey Wixman, the 60 games short season is exactly the same as that scheduled for the 162 game season. The last 60 games in 66 days. The difference is the short season coming up the players wouldn't have played 102 games already. Managers will play the best and hottest they have in order to reach the playoffs. Now, some stat frauds may not like who is playing, but the frauds do not manage the team and really do not know baseball.

YankeeBob said...

Tom Wilson, When trying to make the playoffs or being the best only wins matter. Every at bat, every pitch, every play has more importance and value in a 60 game season than in a 162 game season. Several failures may be easier to overcome over 162 games, but not as easy in 60 games.

Woody/Atlanta said...

All people are equal. What each makes of themselves is determined by each. July 4th is Americas cerebration and should be celebrated by all. You destroy, and you should be destroyed. You deny, and you should be denied.

Spring training now is not the same as spring training. Batters are getting live at bats against live pitching. Opposite of using pitching machines or batting practice pitchers.

Adam Egan said...

The schedule had to be cobbled together and is extremely unbalanced. It is what it is.

Steve(winstheonlystat} said...

No matter what the schedule is or who plays who, a team only advances with wins. Wins are the only stat that matters and determines the best players and teams.

Yanks23245 said...

Simulated games are best case scenarios for live action. Players are still able to take batting practice as needed.

coryankee said...

Without all the extra minor leaguers not here as they would be in the spring training camps, the level of one on one pitcher vs batter competition is raised quite a bit. Sort of like cramming for an exam the night before the test. Only 16 days to game one in DC.

Sal Mineo said...

coryankee, add on that the hot weather doesn't hurt either. Not like having 60 degrees one day than 75 the next during spring training. Easy to get loose when it's around 90 every day.

It has been 'reported' Clint Frazier has a bad foot and has been playing through it. Looks like as if 'maybe' a reason to keep him off the season opener roster?

Tony Gigante said...

Andujar has been taking reps at first and third base and left field.

Vinny Ferrero said...

Two weeks from today at this time of day weather permitting we will be just about starting to play our opening game of the season in Washington DC against the Nationals.

NJYANKEE said...

Last night Deivi Garcia pitched a 12-pitch inning in a intrasquad game. The touted right-hander retired Mike Tauchman on a flyout, got Miguel Andújar to ground out to third base and struck out Gary Sánchez swinging. sanchez is in peak form.

sid greenberg,nyc said...

Monty went three innings. He never stopped pitching routine from the spring training shutdown. Says his arm is strongest ever and just needs to work on control to be ready for season start. Looks as if he is a lock for fifth spot in rotation right now.

Wilsonsway said...

The Yankee pitchers are far ahead of the hitters so far. The Yankee pitchers never stopped their regimens during the Chinese virus and are very strong. The hitters for the most part never faced pitchers and batting machines are not the same as pitchers.

Teena/Bronx said...

Heavy rains so far today.

Lets hope Torres really means it. Ballplayers usually say that, many don't mean it and just want money, Mike Trout is a perfect example of that. Many do mean it and do whatever they can to reach that goal. The Yankee goal every year is to 'win everything' and it always has been. Wins and winning always determines the best players and teams. However, no one or no team can win every year nor all the time. The best players do win the most over their careers and the best teams win the most over their history.
