WIN METHOD - HOT STOVE --- 2019 - 2020

It is that time again WIN METHOD fans.  The 2019 baseball season has concluded.  The best teams and the best players made it to the playoffs and after advancing through the playoffs by winning each series and eliminating each team they played, the Washington Nationals won the World Series and are the best baseball team and the best baseball players in the world.  Congratulations to the Nationals for all you have accomplished.  There is only one way for a team and for players to become the best of the best, and that is with wins and winning.  No individual stat matters.  Only wins and winning make you the best.  Sorry stat frauds, when you learn this you will learn real baseball.

Yes, the 2019 season is over.  The YANKEES did their best and it was not good enough as they lost to the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series.  However, it looked like the YANKEES took enough out of the Astros  that it may have cost them winning the World Series.  The YANKEES will need some work to do this winter to find and to put together the last few pieces they need to become the best of the best.  Considering the massive amounts of crippling injuries our YANKEE team had to endure over the season, making the playoffs was a fine achievement in itself.  But that was the past.  Now we look to the future.

There are likely as many opinions as there are YANKEE fans on what the team needs to do over the winter to '"win it all" in 2020.  There is the free agent route with several pieces available, there are our own pieces available who if healthy for an entire season will help, and then there are own in house pieces available that are blooming and growing in the minors.   Several of which may contribute greatly in 2020.  There are also trade possibilities that may become on option.

YANKEE management will be busy this winter.  How much money to spend on talent.  Is the money spent worth the investment?   Paying players very high salaries for multiple years is seldom a remedy, and in fact has hurt teams who have gone that route more than it has helped them,  The trade route is a possibility, but it takes two parties to make a deal that each party feels is good for their team.  Then there is the bloom and grow route.  Spring training will provide some answers, but the hot stove will be only ashes before spring training provides some answers.  We will just have to see what happens and how things shake out this winter and spring.  Each decision made by management determines how and what the next decision may be.  Throwing money at big contracts is up to management.  You WIN METHOD fans know my opinion on big long term contracts, 'just say no'.  We said no to Harper and Machado last year and it paid dividends over the season as the YANKEES made the playoffs even with all the injuries.  Harper and Machado each cost their team a lot of dollars and neither team made the playoffs and are saddled with many years of an overpaid single piece of talent.

Lets all have a fun hot stove season, keep offering your opinions, thoughts, and ideas, and be happy you are not the one making the decisions.  Remember fans, the YANKEE management team has more knowledge and information than you (we) do.   There must be financial limits and that is one thing everyone should remember.  So, here we go, let's turn on the stove and see what we can cook up.  LETS GO YANKEES.

Besides the 7 domed stadiums you could play in warm weather stadiums such as Atlanta, Arlington, San Diego, LA, Anaheim. Then how about a few college ballparks in the south.

When the great President Trump allows some people to go back to work again in some areas of the country that is when it is possible the MLB 'puck puck' chicken powers that be will start thinking about baseball games again.

I believe that the problem here in Italy was caused by the Chinese moving here over the past several years to produce their clothing lines and being able to use a 'Made in Italy' label on them. They established their factories in northern Italy where our coronavirus outbreak killed thousands of our citizens. Many of them are from and travel back and forth to the Wuhan area in China. The Chinese are killing us and hiding their culpability.

According to the stat frauds, 'who needs real baseball'. We all know individual stats tell us everything we know about each player and each players WAR tells how much better or worse than the average player they are. All we need to do is play each game on paper, simulate it, and then stream each game for the fans. Voila, we reach the playoffs and go from there thru the playoffs and World Series. The baseball issue is resolved and we have baseball to watch. Albeit fake.

I hope baseball doesn't do anything to crazy with the scheduling of games this season. A simple logical common sense schedule of teams in their own division and their own league would be fine. No inter-league games this season. 5 team division, you play 12 games with each team = 48. Then play the other 10 teams in your league 4 each = 40. 48=40=88 game season. Then the playoffs as normal.

If anyone can screw up baseball worse than the virus it is commissioner Manfred.

Gordon Gecko said...

Depending on when they start the MLB season, as early as June 1, more games can be played easily reaching the 110+ range. As Cory said, eliminate the inter-league uneven schedule and balance games and you can come up with a really fair and unbiased season.

As liberal democrats who have been out to "get Trump" since his election 3 1/2 years ago with made up stories, fake stories, lies, and out and out corruption and deceit, Trump who has done everything he could to make America great again, and has, now is dealing with a deadly Chinese conceived virus and is opening up the federal coffers to keep the American working people solvent on one hand while planning to make America great again, again. All hail out brilliant commander and chief. Vote Republican in 2020 or suffer your doom at the hand of the radical liberal left democrats who will finally destroy America and the American way of freedom for all.

Chuck said...

I see a lot of calls to "open America up again". This is an oversimplification.

I know five people who have died from this disease, as well as numerous hospital workers who have gone through hell and back the last few weeks.

The opening of America needs to be done on a state by state basis, we can't just open up America all at once, or we risk losing another 40,000+ lives.

Larry Kennedy said...

Chuck, We all should be sorry for anyone's loss and sorry for everyone in the world who has lost their life because of this virus. I may have missed it, but I have not read one post here or heard anywhere that people want to open up America all at once and I don't think it should be. I read people saying certain areas should open open slowly and as Trump himself has stated, open up by phases and only after these areas have met specific guidelines. Then if all goes well for a period of time and after specific guidelines are met, go to a phase two and open up certain areas even more. Open each specific area only after the guidelines are met and not on a whim or just taking a flyer. Trump is a brilliant man, he knows what he is doing and is getting advice and opinions from countless other brilliant people in a myriad of fields of expertise. America and the American people just can't stop dead in their tracks forever and we must start growing again. I am sure their are some sad people around who want to see America fail and I can probably name a whole bunch of them. Slowly but surely let's make America great again one more time. And lets play some baseball.

Dakarai Folami said...

There will be more lives lost to this virus no matter what is done or not done. If lives lost jump in an area that is opening slowly, I would think that area what quickly pull back and start over after meeting the criteria decided upon by the powers that be. If lives jump in areas not close to opening that would be sad and those areas just keep holding back until the time comes they meet the phase one opening criteria. But we must start to open as a country.

Evan Donahue said...

Debate point, what is better and what is worse.

An area of 10,000 people who has met the guidelines to open, opens and after 3 weeks 1 life is lost to the virus. At the same time another area of 10,000 does not open and continues to do what it is doing to try to meet the guidelines to open and after the same 3 weeks 2 lives are lost to the virus.

Frank Sergi said...

Chuck, you mentioned opening on a state by state basis. I do not think that is on the table right now. It will be an area by area basis, be it a county, a town, a city, etc.

Evan Donahue, I could live with the results from both towns. But I am not the one that is allowed to make the decision.

If that happens America will see four years of unimaginable posterity like never before.

We have now over 40,000 deaths attributed to the Chinese coronavirus in the USA. One problem is, and it is a major problem, thousands of the deaths that are being attributed to the virus are not in reality caused by the virus. Different states count deaths attributed to the virus in different ways. The biggest issue in counting deaths and attributing them to the virus the state get thousands of dollars more from the federal government if the death is due to the virus. Makes for a lot of corruption.

The way I understand the state of Georgia openings is they are not mandatory openings. The governor is allowing certain businesses to open if they feel comfortable and safe doing so. Barb, you and I know that as do fair intelligent people. But, there is always a but, the liars, haters, and fake news says the Georgia governor is opening the state to early and doesn't care how many people die.

Somebody has to be first, if there is no first, there can be no second.

Barb said...

I mean they could just be worried about their own health or their families health, I don’t know why they have to be a liar hater for that opinion.

Can any of us say we know what the right thing to do right now with 100 percent certainty? We’re dealing with something truly unprecedented .

Woody/Atlanta said...

Barb, If anyone is worried about their own health or their families health, they can just isolate themselves and hide wherever the wish as long as they wish. But no one should ever be deprived of their choice to patronize a business if that is their choice. And the same goes for any business owner that wishes to be open. The liars, haters, and fake news do not want to allow those people to have a freedom choice. No one can be 100% of anything, and no one should be deprived of their freedom of choice.

Barb said...

I agree to a certain extent, but I think the issue is that people choosing to open up places and people choosing to go is a choice that doesn’t just directly them, but effects the health care workers, their families, and countless of other essential workers. It’s not nearly as black and white as you make it out to be.

I live in in NYC where I have friends who have deceased relatives currently sitting in the hospitals because the funeral homes and morgues are at full capacity. I wouldn’t wish that on any other city of state and personally hope that they’re truly opening with their populations best interest and not simply to boost the economy.

Woody/Atlanta said...

Barb, didn't your mayor and governor allow your subways to keep running? that had to have had
the single most devastating effect on your population. Your cities loss for voting in those two jerks. I do not think you are even in the ballpark with your claim of ""I think the issue is that people choosing to open up places and people choosing to go is a choice that doesn’t just directly them, but effects the health care workers, their families, and countless of other essential workers"". That falls squarely into the category of no one knows any percent for sure.

When all this is over and it turns out the death rate is like around 1/2 of 1% it will be a shame the panic mongers shut down and crippled America. Shame on them.

yankeedoodledandy said...

By darn, I can't wait until baseball is back.

Barb said...

Woody
So I’m confused do you want things to open or stay closed?

The subways have been open because medical workers and essential workers rely on them to travel. The general public has not been using them. Can you clarify because otherwise that seems to be a fairly ignorant comment.

Carl Hooks said...

Sweden never shut down, everything was open to full capacity and their death rate and overall numbers where far less than many European countries and more than some others. Same thing here in the United States, some states were horrendous and some were not. Some put draconian rules into effect and others did not. In my opinion shutting down the country should never had been done, however I can understand why it was done.

Swen Jorgenson said...

Carl Hooks, herd mentality in Sweden and within a few more days their heath officials feel that everyone in Sweden will have come into contact with the deadly virus and in the future and health consequences because of the virus will be the most minimal in the world and the Swedish people will be the best off in the world. While because so many other countries in the world shut down to various degrees many of their populations have had no contact with the virus and as time goes by they are the ones who will be most susceptible to it and possibly getting sick and dying from it down the road. The shut downs will have accomplished nothing as to total deaths at the end of lets say three years.

Tony Manchu said...

Open the country NOW!. And those who do not want to participate don't have to. Just stop paying them to not participate.

Woody/Atlanta said...

Barb, that is baloney. Anyone could use the subways, tourists, residents, anyone. So the geniuses who run NY and NYC let anyone heard into the subways anytime they wanted to. I want things to be open and people to have free choice to decide whether or not to patronize any and all services. There are controls any business owner could put in place involving flow and amount of customers at any time. The only ignorance I see was the way NY handled the situation. Their elevated and sad numbers illustrate that. I'm going out to get a much needed haircut from my barber who is doing one person at a time by appointment only at 20 minute intervals. Only he and one other customer in the shop at a time. Open and smart, not closed and stupid.

Being as sarcastic as I can be, what I think the world and politics are coming to is......

There is a multi-million dollar court case and the injured plaintiff is suing a billion dollar corporation for whatever the injury is......The jury says to the plaintiff, we will find for you if you give each of us jurors 5% of your final settlement.....the jury also say to the billion dollar corporation, how much will you pay each of us jurors to find your corporation not guilty.

On another note, I am still doing my job, traveling and talking to people I need to talk to.

I think you’re a little disillusioned.

How many tourist do you think have been here? My friend is the GM of a hotel in time square and the only guests have been out of state nurses who have come in to help. My medical friends have said subways are nearly empty day in and day out as they take it to the hospital. I’m here everyday and I see what’s happening, so I don’t know how you can tell me it’s baloney.

I’m also confused as you seem to be against the NY government shutting things down but also saying that they handled it poorly by not shutting it down soon enough? Can you elaborate as to what they should have done?

Woody/Atlanta, good for you. I want to go and have a few beers with the guys again. This shutdown sucks and what is worse are the people afraid to open up their towns, cities, or states. Hell, the flu has killed tens of thousands each year for decades and there is no vaccine. Mother nature rules or is it the mad scientists?

WIN METHOD, I believe your what the world is coming to has been evolving for decades now at a more rapid pace than ever before. Money, in all of history could buy you most anything you wanted. Bribery, lies, deceit. Now with Trump the DC the applecart was upended and the crooks are out to get him anyway they can via bribery, lies, and deceit. The saddest part is the press is now part of it and not a watchdog for the American people anymore, the press is just a lapdog for the bribers, liars, and deceivers.

Arnies Army said...

sid greenberg, nyc, In my opinion that is why the United States was pretty much shut down. The press is all out to destroy Trump and they will do and say anything to reach their end, even if it means the tearing down of America. God forbid if Trump destroys their meal ticket far left liberal progressives.

Longtime viewer from Australia and never posted but felt the need to chime in. We’re going through the same shutdown over here and it certainly isn’t attributable to the US President. Have to agree with Tyler on this one.

Barb said...

Woody,
You seem to be dodging my question, so I will assume you have no actual response. Thank you.

Arnies Army said...

Tyler, my post was in response to sid greenberg, nyc who was responding to WIN METHODS post.
WIN METHOD posted "Being as sarcastic as I can be, what I think the world and politics are coming to is......", WIN METHOD then went on to describe a scenario.

sid greenberg, nyc, posted in response to WIN METHOD, that he felt with Trump as president the corruption applecart has been exposed and overturned. And the corrupt media/press was coerced by bribery, lies and deceit and is espousing fake news to try to destroy Trump ever since the day he was elected. The Russian hoax that was made up and paid for by Hillary Clinton, the fake Mueller investigation led by 19 democrat lawyers. I guess Mueller couldn't find a republican lawyer to go along with the lies. McCabe, Comey, and others were all involved in trying to take down the President of the United States with lies and made up information. Then the Ukraine lies of a quid pro quo. Another made up story. There was no quid, no pro, and no quo. The media goes on and on ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN attacking Trump for everything he doesn't do. What he has done, make America great again, militarily, financially, lowest unemployment in decades for men, women, blacks, latinos, asians, etc. More people working in the US in history. Economy flourishing. Not a word from the lying corrupt media.

Next, the media did not makeup or create the coronavirus. It is real. Thus your making the comment, "Are you suggesting this was all a ploy to get at Trump?" is exactly what the fake media does, you made up a fake innuendo.

Now to my comment "In my opinion that is why the United States was pretty much shut down". I believe if it wasn't from pressures and advice he Trump got from the medical doctors and even his closest advisors he may not have shut down the country. (That is my opinion). No matter what Trump would have decided, the lying media would crucify him for whatever he did. He was told by the first medical modelers that 2 1/2 million people would die in the US if he did not shut down the country and take action. So he did as almost all countries in the world did. Sweden didn't, went through the worse the virus could dish out, and now Sweden is the best off country in the world their population likely almost totally immune now.

After the modelers realized they put out false information as to the deaths, they did remodel after remodel and are down to 100,000 deaths, maybe. If Trump did not shut down the country (again my opinion but I would be everything I own I am right) the media would have singly blamed him for every single death in America. He shut down travel from China in January, he was ridiculed at the time and called xenophobia, a hater, etc. He curtailed travel from Europe and was demeaned for that. He mentioned the hydroxychloroquine and was ridiculed for that and on and on.

Like it or not (and only an idiot would like it) most of the media is corrupt, paid for, and is a wind of the radical, liberal, far left, democrat, socialist party that is trying to take down the President of the United States.

Yankeeforever said...

Arnies Army, hear hear, bury the fake news.

Wilsonsway said...

Arnies Army, To your point. Trump shut down the country and we are over 50,000 dead. If he left the country open and did nothing and there were only 20,000 deaths he still would have been ridiculed and demeaned and the fake news would have said if he shut down there would have been much fewer deaths. I've seen what the media has been doing for 3 1/2 years now and it is a disgrace to our country and anyone who believes them is an imbecile or one of them, themselves.

Hoyle said...

Tyler, you said in response to me...... "What part? I currently live in Florence, Italy and tell you our shut down has absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump. Nothing. It’s an asinine comment in fact."
