The 2022 season is over. Another solid winning season making the playoffs. Sadly another season of getting knocked out of the playoffs and not making the World Series. A good season, yes, to make the playoffs, but not good enough to make the World Series.
The hot stove has been hot and is burning strong. Many big names have changed uniforms so far. The YANKEES re-signed free agent Aaron Judge and signed a top of the rotation starter in free agent Carlos Rodon.
As I told all the WIN METHOD fans in my July 5, 2022 blogpost, Aaron Judge was not going to sign with any other team but the YANKEES. Attaining Rodon is a fine upgrade to the starting rotation. With the addition of Rodon, the rotation is more balanced with three right handed starters and two left handed starters. Cole, Cortes, Rodon, Louie Louie, and Montas.
With Benintendi lost to free agency there is an opening in left field, I would think and hope the YANKEES will give Oswaldo Cabrera every chance to earn and then hold the left field position. Then there is the infield to deal with. First base as of now is the only infield position set in stone. Anthony Rizzo has first base locked up. There may or may not be a deal coming this winter to help decide the infield spots at second base, third base, and shortstop. But the YANKEES have an abundance of bodies in LeMahieu, Torres, Peraza, Kiner-Falefa, Donaldson, and possible even Volpe to fill the three positions. How things shake out during the winter break and then spring training will eventually tell the story.
The bullpen has many arms and should be no issue throughout the 2023 season, There are a couple of youngsters in the minors who are still developing and who knows just when the light bulb goes off for them and they are ready to make an impact at the major league level.
At the catcher position. Personally, I am looking forward to seeing what left handed hitting catcher Ben Rortvedt will bring to the team. Rortvedt may provide a big surprise. I would think the YANKEES will not carry three catchers and either Trevino or Higashioka will be gone.
In the minor leagues the YANKEES have a bunch of fine looking youngsters at all positions, as WIN METHOD as they can be, how they bloom and grow over time will determine their ultimate value.
WIN METHOD fans, I can't say this often enough. You are the smartest and most knowledgeable baseball fans in the world. You make fans at all the other blogs, sites, forums, or whatever look silly. «Oldest ‹Older 801 – 1000 of 2034 Newer› Newest»Brito starts tomorrow's game. Yanks need to clean up their game.
Let's go Yankees
I bet Brito will out pitch Schmidt in his start. And win the game.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Jhony Brito (R) P
1. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Josh Donaldson (R) 3B
6. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) LF
7. Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) CF
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
IKF in CF. Higshioka catching. Hicks passed over again? he would be a left bat against a righty?
Yes, no Hicks is good, but I wonder why.
Four innings in the books. Judge, Stanton, and Higgy home runs have the Yankees on top 4-0.
Jimmy Thames, so far you are right about Brito. He easily outpitched Schmidt going five shutout innings, with two singles and one walk. Struck out six. And if nothing stupid happens, your second comment about him getting the win should also be right.
Yanks have 6-0 lead thru seven.
Final. Yankees win 6-0. Brito sparkling in his first MLB start and win. Five shutout innings and in total command. Could be just what the Yankees needed what with the injuries to three starting pitchers. Bullpen goes final four scoreless innings. Judge, Stanton, and Higashioka each with a HR for a stressless win. Take first series of season. Should have swept however.
Next up for the Yankees is a three game series at the Stadium against the Phillies. Cortes, German, and Cole listed to start.
First time ever Yankee fact. This is the first time in Yankee history that the Yankees had two shutout games in their first three games to start a season.
Remember when WIN METHOD told us a while ago to watch for Brito in the future. Brito was just in his teens back then.
The lineup with Cabrera and Volpe with defense, speed, and enthusiasm have instilled life into the lineup. Plus have LeMahieu back are all pluses. Looking forward to the arrival and youth of Peraza and Dominguez at some point during the season. Volpe has natural instincts just like Jeter had.
Yankee newest addition closed out today's game with two scoreless innings. Nice low leverage pickup for 26th man.
This three game series with Phillies have night games today and tomorrow at 7pm and Wednesday at 1pm.
Cortes, German, Cole Yankee starting pitchers.
Eddie OConnor. I didn't remember that comment about Brito. I did find it, and it was in a blogpost. February 2018. More great insight from WIN METHOD.
Eddie OConnor, thanks. You saved me the time for searching for the post, This blog and the information from posters here is best in the world. No one knows baseball better than WIN METHOD and the fans who contribute to this message board. No other site is even second best. You would probably have to go down to eleventh on the list because the WIN METHOD would fill on the spots on the top ten list.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Nestor Cortes (L) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
6. Franchy Cordero (L) RF
7. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
8. Jose Trevino (R) C
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Franchy Cordero in RF. Hicks in LF. LeMahieu at 3B with Donaldson off day. Phillies come in with three game losing streak and are to good to keep losing. Yankee bats need to keep scoring.
Think positive, sweep the Phillies and send them home with a six game losing streak.
If anything Franchy Cordero puts another left handed bat in the lineup. Only problem it took a better left handed bat out of the lineup in Cabrera -- plus Cabrera is a better fielder.
Five run fifth inning gives Yanks 8-1 lead.
Final. Yankees win 8-1. Cortes goes five innings allowing 1 run for the win. Bullpen goes four scoreless innings. Hamilton, Loaisiga, and Holmes. Rizzo and Torres with home runs.
So far so good, German's turn tomorrow. Will he outpitch Schmidt's outing?
I suggest everyone read the story behind Ian Hamilton, his injury, and what he has done to get to where he is now. When you read his story, you will understand what makes some athletes WIN METHOD. Everyone contributes, that is WIN METHOD.
Harvey Wixman, An amazing story about Hamilton. He went through a lot of pain and suffering. He never gave up, he put in the time and effort to get to this point. Demonstrates integrity, character, and desire. That is WIN METHOD.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Domingo German (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 1B
2. Aaron Judge (R) DH
3. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
5. Josh Donaldson (R) 3B
6. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
7. Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) CF
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Except for Volpe, this is a throwback lineup. All right-handed lineup. Hicks whining and sniveling got him two back to back games. What a disgrace he is. Yet, I root for him and hope he performs when it matters most.
Yanks down 2-0 after 3.
German goes 4 2/3 giving up 4 runs when King comes in to get last out but not before giving up 2 RBI singles. Yankees trail 4-0 after 5.
Final. Yankees lose 4-1. Really never in it. German takes the loss. Series tied at one with rubber game tomorrow at one o'clock. Cole starting. We have to much talent for Donaldson, Hicks, and IKF to ever be in the same game.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Gerrit Cole (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 2B
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Gleyber Torres (R) DH
5. Josh Donaldson (R) 3B
6. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) LF
7. Franchy Cordero (L) RF
8. Jose Trevino (R) C
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Rubber game, need a win to take series and then head to Baltimore. Donaldson should be batting in the nine hole, with everyone moving up one spot.
Democrat controlled and run cities are crumbling all around us and are destroying America. If you are not a democrat liberal piece of scum, get out while you can, or you will be swallowed up in the death and destruction of these cities.
Yanks up 1-0 after 4.
Donaldson taken out of game after pulling up lame running to first base.
Trevino 2 run HR puts Yankees up 4-1 in seventh.
Final. Yankees win 4-2. Cole gets the win and Holmes gets the save. Torres with two RBI singles and Trevino with a 2 run home run for the Yankee runs. Yanks take series and head to Baltimore for a three game series.
NOTE -- The series opener in Baltimore tomorrow has been canceled and has been scheduled for Friday. Off day tomorrow.
Donaldson going down is not really a loss. The Yankees have multiple options for replacements and they are better than Donaldson.
New York City District Attorney Alvin Bragg a dyed in the wool radical leftwing liberal democrat defines the joe-bama/commie MALADY administration. Bragg is a corrupt, foul, brain dead, fool. This is why democrat liberal cities across America are crashing and burning. This is why the federal government is crashing and burning. This is why America is crashing and burning. Quoting a poster on this blog -- WAKE UP AMERICA.
The canceling of tomorrows game has screwed up the rotation. The Yankees need another starter. for 4/11. A rain out would buy some time.
No word on Donaldson as of now. It is a hamstring issue, and did not seem severe.
Cory, the canceling of today's game a day before the game was to be played was a foolish "rush to judgement decision" that the fans of both teams did not deserve. The worst of all, not playing today, has a negative affect on the Yankee rotation going forward.. A very bad decision by the powers that be in Baltimore.
Tom Wilson, what the Orioles did was a farce. How many fans had their plans turned upside down because a game was cancelled because of a chance of a storm during game time. There was no storm before game time and as of now still no storm. The game, at this point would be in the last couple of innings right now. Not a drop of rain.
Hope it doesn't rain tomorrow. 👿👿👿👿👿
No named starter for tomorrows game with O's, but it should be Schmidt, as it is his regular rotation day.
Schmidt is now listed as starting today. 3pm game time.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Clarke Schmidt (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
6. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) LF
7. Jose Trevino (R) C
8. Franchy Cordero (L) RF
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
I can live with this lineup. Peraza and Dominguez are waiting.
Without Donaldson and Kiner-Falefa the lineup really does not have a hole in it.
Torres with a major error on a double play ground ball allowing a run to score. Yanks down 2-0 after two.
Schmidt getting lit up again, has Yanks down 4-0 thru three innings.
Franchy Cordero breathes life into the Yankees with a three run home run to cut Oriole lead to 4-3 in fourth.
Yanks down 4-3 after 5.
Cabrera 2 RBI double in sixth gives Yanks 5-4 lead.
Final. Yankees lose 7-6. A badly played game by the Yankees. Poor pitching from several different pitchers and poor hitting from most of the lineup, except for Cordero and Cabrera. Marinaccio takes the loss.
Cabrera is the brightest light for the Yankees so far this season as a position player. Can do it all. Infield, outfield, defense, offense, speed, enthusiasm, desire.
Brito called up and listed to start tomorrow's game. Cortes on Sunday.
Happy Easter....
Yes, Happy Easter kids. Chocolate!
Update. Donaldson, hamstring and Loaisiiga, right elbow place on the DL today, retro to 4/6.
Happy Easter. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.
Easter ham, yummy. Easter eggs, yummy. Easter candy, yummy. Happy Easter. Yankee wins tonight and tomorrow would be great.
HAPPY EASTER !!!
O's starting left hander tonight. I would go all right-handed hitting lineup
1 DJ 1b
2.Judge cf
3.Cabrera 3b
4.Torres 2b
5.Stanto n rf
6.Trevino c
7.Hicks dh
8.IKF lf
9.Volpe ss
Todays Yankee lineup.
Jhony Brito (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
6. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) RF
7. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Walt Belamy, you were close, IKF instead of Rizzo, change a few positions and you called it,
Nice call Walt.
Let go Yankees, lets go Jhonny Brito.
Yankees lead 4-1 thru five innings. Brito shinning again. Bends but hasn't broken so far.
Final. Yankees win 4-1. Brito earns another win. Goes five innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Was in control again. Should be in the rotation before Schmidt and German. Hicks RBI single tied game at 1 in 4th inning. Volpe triple start 3 run 5th inning rally that wins game. DJ RBI double for 2-1 lead. Judge RBI sac fly for 3-1 lead. Stanton HR for 4-1 lead. Bullpen, King 2 shutout innings. Peralta a shutout inning, and Holmes shutout inning. Needed this win. Rubber game tomorrow for the Easter weekend series.
Cortes starts game tomorrow. Need a win to take the series. Happy Easter to all.
Interesting numbers from Brito and Yankee history.
Brito is the ONLY pitcher in Yankee history to have completed at least five innings in each of their first two starts, and have allowed no more than 1 run in each start, and have allowed no more than 3 hits in each start.
First time ever records on the positive side of the ledger are interesting and positive.
Happy Easter
Happy Easter Sunday Yankee fans.
Todays Yankee Lineup.
Nestor Cortes (L) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
6. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) LF
7. Jose Trevino (R) C
8. Franchy Cordero (L) RF
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Look at the lineup. Does it not look far more impressive without Donaldson, Hicks and Kiner-Falefa in it?
A win today will earn the Yankees three consecutive series wins to start this season.
Lovely lineup. Produce when it matters most will carry the day. Happy Easter.
One of these games either German or Schmidt will pitch well and earn a win.
Lets win one for the Easter Bunny.
The Easter bunny and come and he left large quantities of chocolate of many kings. Happy Easter.
Judge HR gives Yankees 2-0 lead thru 3.
Yanks up 4-2 after 6.
Final. Yankees win 5-3. Cortes gets the win going 5 1/3 innings and allowing 2 runs. Yankee runs on a Stanton rbi single. Judge 2 solo home runs, and Cordero 2 run home run. Holmes with another save. Yankees win third straight series to start the season.
Great Easter Sunday. Great food and a Yankee win.
On to Cleveland for a three game series.
There is absolutely no reason Hicks should be playing with Cabrera, Cordero, Bader, Judge, and Staton able to play at any time and still have rest days.
It sure looks as if Judge is picking up right where it left off last year.
German tomorrow. He needs to come up big and earn a win.
Schmidt and German were given a starting rotation spot. So far Schmidt has failed, but he will get more chances to turn things around. German is a question mark, his first start was not awful, and he will make his second start tonight. Then there is Brito who was given a chance where he excelled. The Yankees foolishly sent Brito back to the minors. A rained out game forced the Yankees to recall Brito for a second start, and he excelled again. Hopefully the Yankees will now move forward keeping Brito in the starting rotation.
Only nine games into the season but the Yankees are 6-0 in games started by Cole, Cortes, and Brito, and 0-3 in games started by German or Schmidt,
It will be nice getting Rodon and Louie Louie back and then Schmidt and German as bullpen arms, maybe.
Todays Yankee Lineup.
Domingo German (R) P
1. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
5. Willie Calhoun (L) DH
6. Jose Trevino (R) C
7. Franchy Cordero (L) LF
8. Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) 3B
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Boone shoots himself in the foot again. Cabrera should be over IKF anytime any game. Hope for the best.
Yankees up 2-1 after 3, and German is struggling
2-2 after 5.
Final. Yankees lose 3-2. Yankees blow a game with pathetic when it matters most production. Many, many chances, and many, many failures. German had nothing, giving up 2 runs in 3 innings. Bullpen takes the loss allowing just 1 run in five innings. No one can really say for sure, but Kiner-Falefa playing third base may have cost Yankees 2 runs on ground balls down the line that a real third baseman --LeMahieu or Cabrera-- could have made plays on. But that is baseball. The Yankees scored 2 first inning runs, had men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and did not score again -- and I mean in the first inning and the rest of the game. Worst was men on third and no outs in the 8th inning and came up empty. Very sad night.
I detest losing games like this. Shoulda, coulda, but didn't. Wins are determined by who delivers the most when it matters the most.
Cole tomorrow night to try to even series. To continue a previous post re Schmidt and German. The Yankees have now lost every game both of them have started. A total of four and that is every Yankee loss.
It looks like the Yankees are just plodding along. Don't forget, they have started the season with 3/5 of their starting pitchers on the DL.
My take from last night, and Guy Padikian in his comments about the lineup he posted the lineup last night was dead on target, Boone said Cabrera had clearly won the left field job coming out of spring training, Through the first 10 games the Cabrera has been rested 3 times. Could he have made a difference last night batting in the middle of the lineup behind Stanton, especially in the first inning? We’ll never know, but if they keep forcing IKF, into the lineup, it seems like Boone doesn't truly know what he is doing. Cabrera at 3B instead of IKF gives the lineup another left handed bat, a better defensive player, and a faster more determined player with much more to offer.
It was a horrible game to watch...pathetic offense and zero ability to hit when it mattered most. That first inning, after two runs in and men on second and third with no outs, and can't get another run in. Plus the failure to score after Torres triple to start the eighth, with Judge, Rizzo, and Stanton failing to get Torres home, was a killer. So none WIN METHOD. A shame I say, a crying shame.
This message board blog has so many people who post here. People with vast baseball knowledge and wisdom. A vast majority of us are positive and believe that management of any team has inside information that is not known by the general public. The posters don't harp on attacking players, coaches, management, and owners. There are times however when we do, not too often, but we do. It usually occurs after any of the previously mentioned parties fails over and over and over at what appears to us fans as "what the hell are you doing".
Last night was a prime example -- the Yankees were playing a good team with a top left-handed pitcher starting for them. The norm is to try to get left-handed batters into the lineup, which the Yankees do not have that many of. Using third base as the spot in question -- the Yankees had three options, 1 LeMahieu, a good hitting, good fielder, 2. Kiner-Falefa, a poor hitting, poor fielder, or 3 Cabrera, a good hitting, good fielder. Now the decision, LeMahieu is the better hitter of the three, Cabrera second best, and Kiner-Falefa the worst. As to fielding, LeMahieu and Cabrera are both better than Kiner-Falefa. Next, LeMahieu and Kiner-Falefa are both right-handed hitters, Cabrera is a switch-hitter, therefore a left-handed bat for this game. In my opinion, of the three players available, there are two options, LeMahieu or Cabrera. In reality, Kiner-Falefa is not a logical choice and should only be uses if both LeMahieu and Cabrera cannot play at all. The player chosen to start the game was Kiner-Falefa. This was a gigantic failure by the people in charge, a dereliction of duty, and just plain stupid -- WHY? WHY? WHY?
I can understand you have to rest these prima donna millionaire ball players once in awhile, but they should not be rested when you are facing the opponents best pitcher(s). The idea is to try to win every game. When I was a kid the season was only 154 games and there were many double headers throughout the season, but you would be surprised how many guys player at least 140 plus games.
Willie Mays played over 150 games per season for 13 consecutive seasons in the 50's - 60's.
ALERT----Boone lost his lucky pencil he uses to make out the lineup card. He is befuddled and in a quandary.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Gerrit Cole (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
5. Willie Calhoun (L) DH
6. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) SS
7. Franchy Cordero (L) RF
8. Jose Trevino (R) C
9. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
Five lefty bats tonight. Stanton out, Calhoun DH. Hicks in LF. Volpe out, Cabrera SS.
sid greenberg, nyc, those were the days when men were men and women were women. (I could go much further. I don't want to get WIN METHOD in trouble so I will stop there.) Not anymore, there are now at least ten different categories of gender, of which eight are all garbage. That is what you get from the radical leftwing liberal democrat scum that is destroying America and the American people.
Today Yankees produce when it matters most. Down 2-1 in top of 3rd, Yanks load bases, Calhoun RBI single ties game 2-2, Cabrera RBI sac fly for 3-2 lead, Cordero 3 run HR for 6-2 lead.
Yanks up 8-2 after 4.
What a difference a day makes, Yankees trouncing the Indians 10-2 thru six.
Final. Yankees win 11-2. A laugher. Cole earns the win going 7 innings allowing 2 first inning runs and that was it. Abreu tossed the final two innings allowing no runs. The Yankee lineup pretty much produced from top to bottom for the easy win. Rubber game of this series tomorrow afternoon.
Schmidt goes tomorrow. Can he win a game? A win takes the series. Big spot. More pressure?
I hope the Yankees have as many runs left in them for tomorrow as they scored today.
The sad thing with Schmidt was how he was saying that he learned a new wipe out pitch over the winter and was using it during spring training and it was very effective.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Clarke Schmidt (R) P
1. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
2. Aaron Judge (R) DH
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
5. Franchy Cordero (L) LF
6. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) 2B
7. Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) 3B
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
Volpe who is slumping, gets one game off, and comes back as leadoff hitter. IKF at 3B and Hicks in CF. What I can I say that you cannot see, Boone is like a bad penny.
Boone must have a plan, however it appears he is the only one that knows about it.
Hicks and umpires make fools of themselves in first inning. Hicks messes up two pop flies and umpires break the rules on replays. Cost of it all, Yanks down 2-0.
After doing a little research, under the present rules of MLB.
Official baseball rule 7.04, which covers protested games, has been amended for 2021 and now reads: Protesting a game shall never be permitted, regardless of whether such complaint is based on judgement decisions by the umpire or an allegation that an umpire misapplied these rules or otherwise rendered a decision in violation of these rules.
In other words, umpires cannot be challenged, ever, and they are able and allowed to corrupt any game at any time at their discretion.
Schmidt does it again. Today, goes 4 inning giving up 3 runs and leaves game with Yankees down 3-0.
3-3 game thru 8.
Cabrera again, when it matters most, RBI single in ninth inning with two outs giving Yankees 4-3 lead.
Cabrera 2 out rbi single for 4-3 ninth inning Yankee lead.
Final. Yankees win 4-3. Coming from being down 3-0 after four innings, Yankees win on a Higashioka 2 rbi double in the fifth inning, a Cordero HR in seventh inning, and a game winning WHEN IT MATTERS MOST 2 out rbi single in the ninth inning. Schmidt struggled going four innings and giving up all 3 Indian runs, The bullpen was flawless over the final five innings. Marinaccio, one inning, King two innings, Peralta one inning for the win, and Holmes one inning for the save. The Yankees won despite Hicks and IKF starting, but they both tried to give the game away with poor defense by both.
FIRST ALERT. This was the first season in Yankee history that they have won the first four series to start a season.
A nice win today. Finally won a game that Schmidt or German started. 1-4 in their starts. Coming home for a four game series with the Twinkies. Lets go Yankees.
Every player on a team contributes, the big name losers are the 'fools gold' God of stat frauds.
Stat frauds are the fools of baseball fans.
Looking forward to the series with the Twins. Four games, Thursday and Friday at 7PM. Saturday at 1PM and Sunday a 1:30PM. Yankee starters listed as Brito, Cortes, German, and Cole.
Everyone, get excited, let's sell out the Stadium all four games. WINS rule. I'll be there.
Interviewed after the game today, Indian manager Terry Francona said he never challenged the call. Umpires should be sent to AAA and four AAA umps moved up to MLB. Each umps pay accordingly.
Brito will open the Twins series for the Yankees, making his third MLB start. Would love to see him keep producing the way he has.
Let us all not forget. The lowest for of human life, the corrupt criminal Joe Biden is in the United Kingdom for four days. He keeps doing what he does best, embarrass himself and the United States of America. His name will forever be imbedded in the history books as a stain on America and what it stands for.
It's only two games, but it also was two wins. With three of five starters not throwing a game yet this season and our fifth and sixth starters failing so far, it was a big boost to have Brito step up and do what he has done so far.
Brito should have the edge over teams that see him for the first time. We will know more later in the season when teams see him for the second time. My impression is based on the (WIN METHOD) comment back from Feb 2018, and seeing him pitch. The demeanor and stature he shows is very positive.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Jhony Brito (R) P
1. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Willie Calhoun (L) RF
6. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) 3B
7. Franchy Cordero (L) LF
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Four lefty bats again. I'd like to see how Brito pitches with some big run support.
Saul Irving, good post and I second your thoughts.
As Yankees come to bat in first inning, they trail 9-0. Brito was bludgeoned.
Wow, Brito had nothing tonight. A kick in the butt. Gives up 7 runs as Twins score 9 times.
If you have to lose a game, this is the way to lose. You got to laugh. We just win the next three.
Nothing to say. Down 11-1 thru 7. Hosta la vista baby.
Final. Yankees lose 11-2. Brito gives up 9 first inning runs. Everything he threw the Twins hit hard. Yankees with just 4 hits. Volpe a single and Rizzo with a single and two solo home runs. All meaningless. Try again tomorrow.
A learning experience for Brito tonite? We will see what happens in his next start.
Cortes will bring the Twins bats down to earth.
Izy Hernandez, so true. A test for Brito and his resilience. A good bounce back effort and we all can move forward.
There is nothing worse than when an autocratic like Manfred creates a stupid rule, like the 15-second to challenge rule, but then does not enforce it when it comes up. Then, as with all autocrats, he doesn't allow you to challenge or appeal. The umpire clearly made the out call on Hicks dropped fly ball in centerfield. Hicks threw the ball to second base making for a double play ending the inning. All the players left the field, Cleveland manager Francona DID NOT challenge the call. Over and out, done with. When Cleveland showed the replay on the scoreboard and it showed Hicks did not catch the fly ball, the Indian fans booed and the umpires illegally changed the game on their own accord in VIOLATION of the 15 second challenge rule. This is not American. To a degree, Manfred and his ignorant cohorts are making a mockery of the game.

Volpe and Judge go back to back HRs in bottom of first for a 2-0 lead.
Yankees clinging to 3-2 lead after seven innings. Cortes went seven innings allowing 2 solo home runs and leaves game leading 3-2.
Homes in for the 8th gives up 2 runs and Yanks down 4-3 after 8.
Final. Yankees lose 4-3. Cortes goes seven innings of solid pitching allowing just 2 runs. Holmes comes in for the 8th inning and allows 2 runs and takes the loss. Yankee runs all solo home runs from Volpe, Judge, and Stanton. A bad loss in a game that the Yankees should have won. I'll let it go at that.
4-3 loss was a heartbreaker. Wasted a great start from Cortes. Not to pick on Rizzo, but what he did in yesterdays game was meaningless production ( 2 HRs and a single) when it did not matter, while what he did today in a one run game was important and he contributed nothing, striking out three times.
We need a win tomorrow. German hopefully will come up really big and hopefully the lineup will do major damage. Wake up guys, the other teams are not rolling over, they are trying to beat you.
I can't fall asleep, tonight's game is bothering me. Noooooooooooooooo. Holmes failed when it mattered most.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Domingo German (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
6. Franchy Cordero (L) RF
7. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) LF
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
'A' lineup at this point in season. German could be the key component.
Great idea for the electric cars --- bury each one of the radical leftwing liberal democrat scum in the joe-bama/commie MALADY administration in an electric vehicle. It would make the world cleaner and better for everyone else.
Geronimo Wyatt, can we also throw in the fake doomsday climate change frauds that are trying to brainwash people. For over 60 years now they have proclaimed disasters than have not occurred. They make up new lies or extend the old ones and they are always wrong. Bury them all.
okiened, yep, we do need a wins today and tomorrow.
Lets go Yankees.
Yankees take 2-0 lead in second inning on Higashioka 2 run Ballantyne blast. Kudos Mel Allen, one of the best of all time announcers.
Yanks up 3-0 after 4.
German goes a very strong 6 1/3 allowing 1 run and strikes out 11 as Yankees lead 6-1 after seven innings. German came up big when it mattered most. Hope he builds on it, because he was really good today.
Mario/Staten Island, you should sleep well tonight.
Final. Yankees win 6-1. German came up big today. Pitching one of his best games, German went 6 1/3 innings allowing just 1 run while striking out 11 Twinkie batters. Yankees got home runs from Higashioka, a 2 run shot and a solo home run from Rizzo. A 2 rbi double by Stanton and an rbi single from LeMahieu. King finished game going 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball. Yankees now have a chance to come away with split of this series with Cole starting tomorrow.
Sam Anderson, yes I will. And if we win tomorrow I will feel even better. Still should have won last night.
Get wiped out in game one, should have, could have won game two, then an easy win in game three. Baseball is such a great game.
Maybe Schmidt will come up with a big effort soon. So far German has been outpitching him for a rotation spot.
Lets do it again tomorrow.
1. Volpe ss
2. LeMahieu 3b
3. Judge rf
4. Rizzo 1b
5. Stanton dh
6. Cabrera lf
7. Torres 2b
8. Higashioka/Trevino c
9, Bader cf
Volpe is an ideal leadoff hitter, speed, contact, stolen base, etc
LeMahieu situational hitter, hit & run, hit behind the runner contact, etc
Judge has two men in front of him which should almost double his coming to bat with men on base
Rizzo protection for Judge, contact hitter
Stanton is Stanton, when hot can be devastating
Cabrera switch hitter that when the pitcher thinks he can relax, will kill you
Torres likely best spot for Torres similar to Cabrera
Hihashioka/Trevino either can be a threat at any time or not
Bader speed leading to the top of the order with sneaky power
I had some time on my hands and started to play 'thinking manager'.
Just sayin' Cole has not had a poor outing all thru spring training and so far since the season started. Everyone has a bad game at some time or other.
Boston/Yankee, what, no Donaldson, Hicks, or Kiner-Falefa?
Todays Yankee lineup.
Gerrit Cole (R) P
1. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
5. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
6. Willie Calhoun (L) DH
7. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) RF
8. Jose Trevino (R) C
9. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
Boston/Yankee, I like your lineup better than Boone/s. Some stat fraud likely told Boone that the best hitter needs to bat second. In the history of baseball the best hitter(s) usually hit 3rd, 4th, & 5th. Wake up Boone, smell the coffee, see the light, and think like you may know baseball.
Stanton out of lineup because of another hamstring issue. Will be put on DL. Peraza called up from AAA Scranton. Sweet.
Well scratch Stanton for a while.
LeMahieu rbi single gives Yankees 1-0 lead thru 3.
Yanks up 1-0 after 3.
Sixth inning LeMahieu puts Yankees on top 2-0. Cole throwing a gem. Three more innings.
Final. Yankees win 2-0. Cole gets the win with a complete 108 pitch gem, allowing just 2 hits, 1 walk, and 10 strikeouts. LeMahieu was the offense with an rbi single and solo home run. Split of the four game series after losing the first two games.
When you see how LeMahieu hit today in the five hole, I will have to totally agree with Boston/Yankee and see Volpe lead off with LeMahieu in the two hole.
Reflection on the Yankee lineup today and Hicks in it. Why in heck would Boone play Hicks over Cordero when Cordero is at his best hitting against right handed pitching, and have reiterated the same since joining the Yankees. Making my point, Hicks came to the plate three time today and never hit the ball, striking out all three times. I'll bet my life that Cordero could not have done worse. What is wrong with Boone and his thought process? Is he that out of it, baseball wise?
Boston/Yankee, I am going to borrow your lineup because I like it so much. Moving forward we have Donaldson coming back and sometime later Bader. Using Boston/Yankee's lineup how about this.
1. Volpe ss
2. DJ 3b, 2b, 1b, dh
3. Judge rf, lf, cf, dh
4. Rizzo 1b, dh
5. Torres 2b, dh
6. Cabrera lf, rf, cf, 2b, 3b, ss, dh
7. Donaldson 3b, dh
8. Higgy/Trevino c
9. Bader cf, lf
Think of the options, using Calhoun, Cordero, IKF as needed. Chuck Hicks butt off the team.
The lineup modifications, depending on pitcher, are endless.
When Stanton comes back? Calhoun gets moved to AAA. When Peraza is ready? IKF gets moved out.
If I can figure this out, why can't the people in charge?
We would not be having these issues if George Steinbrenner was alive. Wake up Hal.
WIN METHOD, maybe it would be too much of a brain drain on the people in charge.
WIN METHOD, brilliant as usual. Love ya,
When you look at the positions several players can play, there is so much than can be done with the lineup in a positive way. However, much of the results depends on players producing when it matters most and buying into wanting to win as a team and not playing for yourself.
Really nice start from Cole today. He appears to be challenging hitters much more, and attacking the strike zone.
Off day tomorrow and then the Angels come to the Stadium. Schmidt, Brito, and Cortes the Yankee starters for the midweek three game series.
Everyone, thank you for being so positive and upbeat on my lineup post. All you fans is why this message board is so great, has so many posters, and even more readers. Thank you all.
Can't cry over spilt milk, but we should have won the Twins series. Holmes cost us a game. He needs to make up for it.
Don't want to put a hex on anyone, but the Yankees at 10-6 through 1/10th of the season without three starting rotation pitchers is pretty impressive, whether the stat frauds like it or not.
Everyone, take a deep breath and enjoy the off day. But don't forget, let's go Yankees.
Injury update on Bader......
Bader went through an on-field workout April 13 at Yankee Stadium, taking batting practice, running bases, taking fly balls, grounders and throwing to bases. He is expected to have another similar day of workouts during the week of April 16, then will begin a minor league rehab assignment.
“It’s right around the corner, which is very exciting,” Bader said. “It’s been a really good progression.”
Manager Aaron Boone indicated that Bader will serve a relatively longer stint in the minors, saying, “It’s not just going to be a few days down there. He’s got to play some games, get up to playing back-to-back games, volume of innings and things like that.”
Meaningless tidbit --- nonetheless a fact ---The Tampa Bay Rays have started the season 13-2. Best start by any MLB team in 2023. However, there is only one of the thirty MLB teams to have yet to lose a series this season so far. That team is the New York Yankees.
Cory, like how you phrased your point. Truly WIN METHOD.
rinse REPEAT, only wins will get teams and players to the playoffs. Nothing else matters.
Schmidt's turn for a good game and most important, a win tomorrow?
Looks like Stanton will be out until June. Opportunity knocks again, who will step up?
The Yankees with Stanton out, may lose his threat to hit home runs, but they lose nothing on defense when he does play the outfield, they lose nothing on the basepaths, they gain less strikeouts, they gain less double play grounders. The Yankees and the dumb stat fraud media loses the meaningless headlines of high velocity hit balls, and how far they were hit. In essence the Yankees lose little. The Yankees, by putting the proper youngster into the lineup and on the field will gain a positive lineup player who can field, has speed, put more balls in play and likely will be a bigger asset to the team.
Get ready people. Gas prices are starting to rise and they will go very high very quickly. The joe-bama/commie MALADY administration supported by the radical leftwing liberal democrat scum of America are driving the prices of gasoline as high as possible in order to hurt American and the American people. The corrupt criminals live by their credo --- Make America Last Again Destroy You ---
Todays Yankee lineup.
Clarke Schmidt (R) P
1. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Gleyber Torres (R) DH
5. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
6. Oswald Peraza (R) 2B
7. Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) CF
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
How and why in the world is Cabrera not in the lineup? Look at the lineup, perfect 1 thru 6. Put Cabrera in the 7 hole in LF and drop IKF and Higgy to 8 and 9 holes, then you extend lineup to a perfect 1 thru 7 and have a better player offensively and defensively added to the lineup. Boone 👿👿
I would love to have Boone justify not using Cabrera tonight. I always thought it was the managers job to put the best guys on the field every game. Not in Bonne's world? I am only thinking bad thoughts now regarding Hicks. Say no more.
Listening to Boone speak and watching how he manages is very frustrating. Yet the team keeps winning.
The Yankee lineup better have brought their bats tonight because Schmidt didn't bring his stuff. First two batters, double - home run.
Yanks down 2-0 after 2.
Schmidt does it again. 3 2/3 innings 4 runs 6 hits and leaves with Yanks down 4-0.
Yanks down 5-2 after 5.
Final. Yankees lose 5-2. Schmidt with another garbage game. Same old same old. Schmidt goes 3 2/3 innings, giving up 4 runs for the loss. Showed nothing again. Yankee get 2 runs on only 4 hits and never really in it, Had a couple of chances early but could not produce when it mattered most.
A woeful game tonight. It tends to happen when your starter gives up two runs after pitching to the first two hitters.
Brito tomorrow to try to even series. A real test for the kid.
Need a win today and tomorrow or the Yankees will lose their first series of the season.
Every time Boone puts Hicks in the lineup is a mistake. You keep making the same mistake too many time, you should be removed from your job.
Todays Yankee lineup.
Jhony Brito (R) P
1. Anthony Volpe (R) SS
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
4. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
5. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
6. Willie Calhoun (L) DH
7. Oswaldo Cabrera (S) LF
8. Jose Trevino (R) C
9. Franchy Cordero (L) RF
Brito bounce back? Better lineup than yesterday by far. Need a win.
