Hello WIN METHOD Yankee fans, the smartest baseball fans on the face of the earth. It has been a long time since I last blog posted. However, there have been comments within the blog from me. So here we go for 2021.
First, the Yankees will be in the playoffs again this season, but they also will play in the World Series. In talking with players, they are not happy with what they have achieved the past few seasons. They feel they have something to prove and want to do it now. Most of the players have undertaken a new or modified training program instituted by the training staff. Look for less injuries and less severe injuries this season. That will be a step forward and a plus for the team as a whole.
Second, Corey Kluber and Jameson Taillon both feel very optimistic with what each will contribute to the Yankees success this season. Both players believe their injuries are behind them. As of now, the Yankee starting rotation looks like it will have four men in the first four spots right now. Cole, Kluber, Taillon, and Montgomery. The fifth spot will be determined in March. The guys who do not make the fifth spot will either be sent to AAA Scranton or long relievers on the big team. Then the big guy Louie Louie Severino will make his return to the Bronx in June. The pitching staff looks solid and has many fall back arms to rely on. The bullpen remains solid and strong, also with several young arms looking to make an impact.
Third, the lineup will be solid again, more important, will be healthier. Runs will be put on the board. The biggest question mark will be at catcher. Catcher Gary Sanchez has been a black hole in the Yankee lineup recently, ala afraud in the past. Gary Sanchez is being mentored and talked to by coaches and trainers. Sanchez feels it is helping him, As the season starts, we will all see if it has. Sanchez himself is the only person who can really make it happen. It is up to him. A big WIN METHOD season from Sanchez would be a big help to the lineup and the team. If he does what he has been doing the last couple of seasons, Gary's days could be short lived.
As you all know I always read all posts by all of you who post here. Looking at the numbers of views recorded on the WIN METHOD blog there are also an enormous number of fans who read the blog consistently. You fans will take this blog, the number one Yankee baseball blog in the world over the one billion mark somewhere around June 1st this year. You are the people who take this blog in the direction you want it to go on a daily, weekly, monthly, or whatever time frame basis. This past year, we saw a very shortened baseball season, we saw a disgusting Chinese created virus, spread throughout the world by the most foul Chinese government, killing millions of people from all countries across the globe. We had a presidential election here in America. The election was the most corrupt election in the history of America stolen by the most corrupt politicians in America's history. We now have the most corrupt politicians in America's history running our country. They will do their best to destroy America. Hopefully, you the people will do whatever you need to do to stop the destruction.
It is now back to baseball and a great Yankee season. Thank all of you for reading and posting your views and opinions in this blog. You are the people who have made the WIN METHOD blog the best and greatest Yankee baseball blog, forum, or site in the world. We here are WIN METHOD will continue to have no signups, no ask for no personal information from you, no advertisements, and no bans of anyone. You, your views, and your opinions do not get canceled here. Unlike big tech, other baseball forums or sites which control you by banning or canceling you, here, that will never happen.
One more thing before I conclude. I would like to recognize the life and pay my respects to RUSH HUDSON LIMBAUGH III who passed away February 17th. Rush was the greatest radio and political commentator of all time. Rush's radio career spanned over thirty years. Rush's show was three hours a day, five days week, fifty-two weeks a year. Rush was right 99.8% of the time and one of the finest American patriots who believed in freedom and pursuit of happiness of every single American. Rest in peace, you will never be forgotten.
It is baseball time again. Lets look forward to a great season and as always LETS GO YANKEES.

The Yankees are so lucky to have Gardner. Even at his advanced age he is a hardnosed grizzled veteran who always gives his all.
We won last night, but do not forget the horrid defense and mental ignorance from Gleyber Torres. He has got to go. Velasquez is the alternative for now. Velasquez knows how to play the game and his head is in the game.

LeMahieu out today.
It appears that rain is likely to affect tonight's game to some degree.
Yankees leading 2-0 mid fifth.
Yankees leading 2-1 thru six and they are now playing in a steady rain. Hope no one gets hurt.
2-2 after nine. O's score on single, ground ball, and two wild pitches. Extra innings.
Final. Yankees lose 3-2 in ten innings. Another horrendous nightmare of a loss. Yankees shot themselves once again. Lineup anemic. Played in a steady rain from the third inning to the end of the game. When you watch the Yankees play games like this so many times during the season, you have to wonder how they can even be in contention for a playoff spot.
A very heart breaking loss.
The Yankee organization need to clear their mind, starting at the top and all down the line to the very last player. They seem to have lost the WIN METHOD edge they always had.
This team finds new ways to lose. 2 wild pitches. But the big problem remains the hitting. 2 runs off the worst staff in baseball. You don't deserve to win when you score 2 runs against garbage pitchers.
Yanks home for a three game series with the Indians. Kluber, Gil, and Cole the starters for the Yankees.
Hey, the Yankee took 2 of 3 from the O's. If a team wins 2 of 3 game all season, they win their division and or positively make the playoffs. You can't cry over winning 2 of 3 even though it could have easily been 3-3. Unfortunately too many Yankee players have lost their focus and play for themselves. Example, last night one on no outs 3-0 count on brain dead Torres, he swings at and pops up the 3-0 pitch. A walk would have been fine and many lead to a run or two. But a walk means nothing to a selfish brain dead player.
To add, America is looking at its death knell as the most corrupt joe-bama/commie MALADY administration is doing everything in their power and not in their power to destroy American and with it the American people and freedom.
If the Yankees win each of their series for the rest of the season, will it be enough to make the playoffs? I would think so.

Sanchez out but the other half of the dumb and dumber combo, Torres, is still in stinking up the place. WINS ARE ALL THAT COUNTS.
Wake you guys, it's time to play a baseball game. Doing it as a team all on the same page would be nice.
Yanks up 1-0 after 2.
Gallo home run gives Yankees 1-0 lead after two innings.
Judge home run makes it 2-0 Yankees after four innings.
Tack on runs by Yankees tonight in 7th inning. RBI single by Urshela and a 3 run home run by Gardner open lead to 6-0 and still batting.
Final. Yankees win 8-0. Kluber goes six innings. King two innings of 1,2,3 ball. Luetge one inning 1,2,3 ball. Five Yankee home runs pummel the Twins. Just one of tonights home runs hit last night would have won the game. That is what WHEN IT MATTERS means. Hitting them when it doesn't matter only pads a players stats and means nothing except winning by more runs.
Need to win every game. Gil goes tomorrow.
7 of the 8 runs tonight were on home runs. All of nothing at all.
As Mel Allen said, "How about that".
This date 70 years ago.......Sep 17, 1951: The Yankees walked off with a 2-1 victory over the Indians when Phil Rizzuto executed a squeeze bunt to score Joe DiMaggio with the winning run. Rizzuto also drove in the Yankees first run with a fifth-inning single.
Score two runs with great baseball a single and a bunt when it mattered for the WIN.
A Yankee reminder. WIN or go home.
Todays Yankee Lineup
Luis Gil (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Luke Voit (R) 1B
3. Aaron Judge (R) RF

5. Joey Gallo (L) LF
6. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
7. Gary Sanchez (R) C
8. Brett Gardner (L) CF
9. Gio Urshela (R) SS
No Rizzo, Voit at first base. The blues brothers back to back, Torres and Sanchez.
Yanks behind 1-0 thru three.
Yanks down 1-0 after 4.
Gary Sanchez drops foul pop and opens door for an Indian seven run fifth inning. He and Torres are big time liabilities in the field and nothing special at bat. Gotta go.
Yanks in hole 10-0 and with each loss their chances of a post season gets slimmer and slimmer.
Stanton in a big 7th inning home run to cut into the Indian lead when it doesn't matter most.
Yanks now down 10-1.
Yankees coning up big when it doesn't matter most as Voit hits a two run home run to cut into the Indian lead even more, now 11-3 after eight.
Final. Yankees lose 11-3. The game was as close as the score indicates. Sanchez with an error that opened the door for Cleveland and killing the Yankees.
Cole starts tomorrow and the Yankees need a win to take this series.
Winning 2 of every 3 should be good enough to make playoffs, but with the way everything breaks bad for the Yankees it may not.
It is not good when a baseball team loses control of their own destiny and has to hope their competition loses.
Todays Yankee Lineup
Gerrit Cole (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
3. Aaron Judge (R) CF
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
5. Luke Voit (R) DH
6. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
7. Brett Gardner (L) LF
8. Gio Urshela (R) SS
9. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
Torres still in lineup, how sad and how stupid. Gardner in left with Judge in center and Stanton in right. Must win???
Why would you play your infielders out of position when by taking your worst defender, Torres, and removing him forever, you could play LeMahieu at second, his best position, Urshela at third, his best position, and Velasquez at short, his best position and make the infield extremely strong defensively, add more speed to the lineup, and lose maybe nothing at the plate. Velasquez playing and in the lineup can only bloom and grow plus he has more weapons offensively and defensively than Torres.
If we do not win today we lose this series and that could be a deadly blow to our playoff chances with so little time left in the race.
A few times each fall I go to UNC football games. I pass by the Steinbrenner wall at UNC’s Boshamer stadium and I say Jessica, why did you have to divorce your George and let Hal be in charge?
Yankeeforever, hear hear.
Yanks down 2-0 after one. Cole hits leadoff batter on 0-2 pitch. Walks third batter. Squib grounder loads the bases. and a grounder against the shift for a single and two runs when it mattered most.
Yanks down 2-0 after 2.
Mute your tv people. Now listen, in the distance you may be hearing the fat lady warming up.
Cole gets knocked out in the sixth giving up seven runs.
Yankees are trailing 8-1 after seven in a game their ace started. The players as the TV camera panned the dugout in the bottom of the inning look forlorn, lifeless, and have given up. When you give up you can't succeed = win.
Final. Yankees lose 10-1. Everyone stunk. Of the last nine outs by the Yankees eight were strikeouts. Tells a lot where their heads were at.
Yankees ten game series.
001-010 5-5
010-020 4-6 = 9-11
021-030 7-3 = 16-14
031-040 6-4 = 22-18
041-050 7-3 = 29-21
050-060 2-8 = 31-29
060-070 6-4 = 37-33
071-080 4-6 = 41-39
081-090 5-5 = 46-44
091-100 7-3 = 53-47
100-110 8-2 = 61-49
101-120 7-3 = 68-52
121-130 8-2 = 76-54
131-140 2-8 = 78-62
141-150 5-5 = 83-67
A 5-5 ten game series when making the playoffs are on the line is no going to get the job done. One more ten game series plus two more games is all that is left. In my opinion the Yankees must play 9-3 ball to control their own destiny. Anything less and they will need a lot of luck to make the playoffs this season.
As WIN METHOD has told everyone since the beginning of time, it's all about wins. Nothing else matters, the best teams and the best players need to win enough games every season to make the playoffs, and then it take nothing but wins to advance through the playoffs until finally two teams play in the World Series, and yes only wins will determine who is best team and the best players.
There is nothing like several teams trying to make the playoffs in the last month, weeks, and days of the season to emphasize this fact.
The Yankee are done only if they give up. There is no reason why they can't play the same type of winning baseball as they did over the 4 ten game series in a row during August.
What will-i-am said about the outs in the last three innings by the Yankees disturbs me most. It was like no one cared and they were just going thru the motions of getting the game over with.
Borrowing the old Mets motto ----------- You gotta believe.
Three night games with the Rangers starting tomorrow. Cortes, Montgomery, Kluber the Yankee starters. Need to win all three games.
I miss Derek Jeter. Great defense, great offense, great competitor, a leader, a winner.
Cortes, Monty, and Kluber go for Yanks in Texas series at the Stadium. Win them all, win them all, the long the short and the tall, win them all.
If the Yankees do not win enough games to make the playoffs it all falls on them as an organization, from top to bottom. They are all responsible for the mess they are in right now. However, they still have a chance to rectify this issue. How, WINS, only WINS and WINNING, can get a team into the playoffs. To be one of the best several teams you have to WIN. No other stat matters.
All the Yankees have to do is win all their remaining games and they are the first wild card and get to play the first round at home.
If the Yankees fail to make the playoffs, the off season will be interesting to follow. Heads roll, trades made, youngsters called up, money spent. So many questions. Nothing, any combination of possibilities, one or two possibilities, all possibilities???????????

6. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
7. Gary Sanchez (R) C

Is Boone brain dead? He keeps playing our worst infielder, Torres, everyday. Maybe he is managing to get fired.
Yaks take early 4-0 lead after three innings.
Yanks up 4-0 after 4.
Yankee lead cut to 4-3 thru 6.
Final. Yankees win 4-3. Bullpen was special tonight. Green, Holmes, Rodriquez, and Chapman gave up nothing over 5 1/3 innings for the win, holds, and save. It is a win.
Lineup scored 1 in 2nd and 3 in 3rd for a 4-0 lead and nothing the rest of the game. OK, it was a 4-3 win, but come on guys. Score more and win every game.
Monty's turn tomorrow.
Sanchez had a rotten game behind the plate and his lack of catching skills forced Cortes to have to work very hard. Cortes may well have saved the game in the first inning with men on 2nd and 3rd and no outs, he struck out the next three batters to get out of big trouble.
Baseball is a bat and ball game played by two teams of nine players each. A game consists of nine innings in which players of both the teams take turns at batting to score runs by advancing around four bases.
The calmative outcome after yesterdays game was a positive. Any day you win can never be a negative. Wins are goal and should be the desired outcome of every team and player. The players and teams who adhere to that goal will make the playoffs.
My kingdom for one more Quay Ho 10 game win streak right now. 1 game in the bank.
Look back to game early, and all throughout the season. Everyone has the same value. You either win or lose. Every team is responsible for their own destiny.
WINS is the only stat that matters. Analytics are for a-holes.

Repeat of last nights lineup. I stand by my comments from last night. See how easy that is.
Lets put up another win tonight. Let go Yankees.
Yanks up 1-0 after 2.
Yankees barreling up the ball but can't find a hole. Lead 3-1 after five.
Judge three run home run in 7th takes the pressure off and everyone can breathe. Yanks lead 7-1.
Louie Louie make his return. Pitches a scoreless 8th with two K's.
Louie Louie finishes it. Pitches a scoreless 9th for the 7-1 win.
Final. Yankees win 7-1. Stanton, Gallo, Judge home runs. Monty 5 2/3, one run. King 1 1/3, no runs, Severino 2, no runs.
Theeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, 7-1.
Nice comfortable win and a chance to sweep this series with Kluber tomorrow.
Ten games left in the season. Need to win games.
Last night's win kept us on pace. Another win tonight. Only wins gets teams to the playoffs.

Voit back in against left handed pitcher. Torres in again and useless. Higashioka in is a plus.
Game time. Lets go Yankees.
Yanks down 1-0 after 2.
Yankees score 2 in 5th. Trail 3-2 after 5.
3-3 after 6.
All even at 3 after seven. The bad and ugly, the Yankees have failed to score a runner from third base with less than two outs four times so far tonight. Therein defines why the Yankees are where they are this season.
Yankees score 4 in 8th to take a 7-3 lead after trailing 3-0 early.
Final. Yankees win 7-3. What can I say, a win is a win is a win. Bullpen come up big again.
Off day tomorrow and then a three game weekend series with the sux.
One thing is for sure, the Yankees don't make it easy for us fans.
Another small step forward again today. Only wins can move you forward. Nine games left in the regular season. Still fighting for a playoff spot.
Nine games left with three very good teams. At Boston this weekend. At Toronto Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next week and the final three at home with Tampa.
The Yankee starting pitchers for this weekend will be Cole. Cortes, and Monty. Bullpen will be loaded and ready. The goal needs to be win, win, win.
Will winning each of the last three series get the Yankees into the playoffs?
Today starts the Yankees first three game series, one of which will determine if the team advances to the post season. Lets go Yankees.
We will see what Cole is made of tonight and what he will be going forward. I believe his character, determination, and pride will get a one run seven inning effort tonight.
You political posters are right. I can see it from across the ocean. America is being destroyed by the joe-bama/commie MALADY administration. Boris Johnson made a fool of Biden when he asked for questions from reporters. One needed to just look at Biden's face and body language. Biden in an embarrassment to America. In Biden's defense he is just a stooge for Obama who is getting his third term via subversion and a corrupt election.
Back to baseball. Let's go Yankees.
Possibility of some iffy weather in Boston tonight. I would think they would want to get this game played tonight.
It looks like rain is leaving Boston area completely now, and it appears that tonight's game will be played without any issues due to weather.
Pierre, it is really bad over here. The administration is doing everything possible it can get away with to destroy this country.

We need wins and no more excuses. Lets go Yankees.
Yankees score 3 in first.
Yanks up 3-0 after 2.
Yankee score 4 runs in the 3rd, 3 on Stanton home run, to take 7-0 lead.
Stanton with a three run homer in 3rd makes it 6-0 Yanks and still batting.
Yanks up 7-0 after 4.
Cole gives up 3 run home run in 6th. Yanks lead 7-3 after 6.
Yanks up 7-3 after 6.
Time for a tack on run or two.
Yanks up 8-3 after 8.
One more inning, three more outs. 8-3 Yankee lead.
Final. Yankees win 8-3. Cole makes one mistake, completes six innings allowing 3 runs all on a 3 run HR. Yankees bullpen goes final three innings allowing nothing. Good start to this all important series. The bats struck early. Cole still throwing too many pitches each game.
Nice win tonight. Scored early with crooked numbers. And then added a tack on run right after the sux scored their only time in the game. Not a nail biter tonight.
Late afternoon 4:00PM game tomorrow in Boston. Cortes is starting. Repeat, repeat.
Scoring early was a big help last night. Takes a lot of pressure off your starter. Cole is throwing too many pitchers. With his arsenal he should be able to go at least seven innings pretty much all the time. When pitchers fall into the waste pitches mentality they hurt themselves and their team.

Significant changes from recent lineups. LeMahieu out and Odor in at third base. Gardner batting leadoff. Odor hasn't started in a long time. Another win is the prize.
0-0 after 2.
Yanks down 1-0 after 4.
Yanks down 2-1 after 6.
Louie Louie Severino come in to pitch the seventh inning of a really big game and pitches a shut out inning. Yankees trailing 2-1 in a great game by a fraction of an inch.
Torres breaks the Yankees hearts a again. Trailing 2-1 in the inning the Yankees put the first two men on base and Torres grounds into a double play.
Stanton grand slam in 8th puts the Yankees in front 5-2. It isn't over yet.
Yankees load bases with two outs and nobody on in eighth and then Stanton hits grand slam on first pitch he sees for a 5-2 lead.
Severino stays in to pitch the bottom of eighth.
Louie Louie pitches a scoreless 8th and will be the winning pitcher if Yankees close it out in the 9th.
Chapman does not make it easy and takes it to the last batter after allowing home run and then hitting the next batter, before getting the final out. Theeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
Winnnnnnnnnnnnn 5-3.
Final. Yankees win 5-3. Yankee pitching did their job keeping the game close and giving the lineup a chance. In the 8th inning with 2 out and no one on base, Gardner, Judge, and Rizzo all worked walks and Stanton hits a home run for the winning hit. Louie Louie earned the win with scoreless 7th and 8th inning. Chapman earns the save, but made everyone sweat it out.
Great win means Yanks take this series and have a chance for a sweep in the God awful Sunday night farce ESPN game.
I am so happy for Louie Louie after not pitching for over two years and to come back and contribute so quickly.
Would be a grand weekend if Monty comes up big and the Yankees win tomorrow night.
Gardner comes up with another great game today. Big double that set up the Yankees first run and the two walk in the 8th to start the rally capped by Stanton's grand slam.
I'm really happy to see just how focused the Yankees are right now. As bad as they can look at times, I believe they are putting together another strong winning streak and or high percentage baseball run. The players are really focusing only on each game and getting rid of all "the noise".
I don't care who's in the lineup or which reliever comes out of the bullpen. I just want to see every player totally locked in to the moment, I want to see a BIG BROOM come out of the closet, and then it's on to Toronto for another big series. September baseball, got to love it! Baseball, America's game and the number one sport in the world.
Monty's goal. Keep it close and lets hope the bats come alive with the sound of bats making solid contact with the pitched ball and the ball then finding open spaces or the seats in fair territory.

6. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
7. Gary Sanchez (R) C
8. Brett Gardner (L) CF
9. Gio Urshela (R) SS
DJ back in. Glad to see Boone stick with Gardner in centerfield. One more time.
Happy to see Boone stick with this lineup. They are winning with it. Skipping Voit is a plus because Gardner is our best defense in centerfield and he knows the ballpark quirks well. He is a sparkplug right now.
0-0 after 2.
sux score first. 1-0 after four.
Yanks down 1-0 after 4.
Holmes in for the sixth. Monty went five and left leading 1-0. He did his job.
Holmes strikes out the side in 6th. Quickly.
Yanks up 2-1 after 6,
Boone takes Holmes out of the game for Rodriquez. Could be one heck of a blunder.
LeMahieu and Gallo both drop third out popups in 7th giving the sux a 3-2 lead. And these are MLB players.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, DJ and Gallo drop popups allowing sux to take 3-2 lead in seventh. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Judge 2 rbi double followed by Stanton 2 run home run in 8th put Yankees up 6-3 and still batting.
Turn around is fair play. Judge should have been out before his double. sux first baseman misplayed a foul popup and let it fall to the ground. And on next pitch home plate ump missed third strike foul tip that catcher caught but ump only saw ball on ground after catcher dropped ball taking it out of his glove.
Judge, Gallo, and Torres all with possible injury/health concerns in eighth inning.
Yanks up 6-3 after 8.
Chapman on for the ninth for the save try. Here we go. Infield popup, one out. Infield ground out, two out. Ump misses another strike call, walk. One on two out. Runner goes to second on fielders indifference. Runner goes to third on fielders indifference. Strike out.
Game over, Yankees win 6-3. Sweep the sux series.
Final. Yankees win 6-3. In one of the craziest games played, errors and misplays on what should have been easy outs, home plate calls that left players from both teams aghast, both teams getting extra chances. No matter, the Yankees scored four times in the 8th inning, 2 on a Judge double and 2 on a Stanton home run, coming back from a 3-2 deficit. Monty went five innings surrendering just 1 run, leaving the game leading 2-1. The bullpen did a good job but for Rodriquez, and Green earned the win and Chapman with the save. Three game sweep was what was needed and what the Yankees got.
The Yankees have listed Taillon, Cole, and Kluber for the Toronto series starting Tuesday. Need to keep winning, only wins can get a team to the playoffs.
Tonight's home plate umpire was Joe West. He will be 69 in October, and has been a MLB umpire for 45 years. When younger he was a no nonsense umpire and during his career had many wild arguments with players and manager driving some players and managers to do wild and crazy things during the arguments. Joe West's nickname is 'cowboy'. Over the past several seasons his abilities have noticeably diminished and tonight's game was a prime example.
After seven innings tonight, neither the Yankees nor the sux had an extra base hit. In the eighth inning the Yankees got three consecutive extra base hits, doubles by Rizzo and Judge, and Stanton with a home run. Those hits when it mattered most, allowed the Yankees to come from behind and win the game.
For us WIN METHOD Yankee fans this weekend series was great. BUT the season is not over and the playoff teams are still to be decided with five teams playing for two spots. Only wins will determine who gets those two playoff spots.
Yes people, it was a good weekend. However, the season is not over until 162 games are played, and even possibly a 163rd game. No one is giving up and no one is going to quit. Keep thinking positive and keep on rooting and supporting the Yankees. Let the naysayers, the doomsters, the negative Nellies, the whinners, and the back stabbers live their lives in misery. We can win and if we don't lets go down trying our best. It is only a game, but we love it. LET GO YANKEES.
YankeeMike, your post about Boone taking Holmes out in the seventh was probably right since Rodriquez allowed two runs and put the Yankees behind. But the eighth inning four run outburst by the Yankees erases that issue. Plus, you can't ever prove one way or the other what Holmes would have done. If Boone leaves Holmes in and Holmes gives up the two runs, everybody would have said why did Boone leave Holmes in. But, as you, at the time before a pitch was thrown, I thought that Holmes should have been left in. That is baseball, ups and downs, twists and turns.
Judge did dislocate his pinky on slide into second on his 8th inning double last night that put Yankee in lead.
I was so happy to see Ottavino come in to pitch the eighth inning last night. All I could think of was now he is going to do to the sux what he did to the Yankees when the Yankees had him. He did not let me down. He blew the game. Loved it.
Hope the time off rejuvenated Taillon's arm. Five innings and keep the team in the game would be fine.
Six games in six days will determine if the Yankees move on to the playoffs or if they move on home. Only wins and winning will determine this.
Todays Yankee Lineup
Jameson Taillon (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
3. Aaron Judge (R) RF
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Joey Gallo (L) LF
6. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
7. Gary Sanchez (R) C
8. Brett Gardner (L) CF
9. Gio Urshela (R) SS
Boone is sticking with what is winning. Lets go Yankees, everyone contributes.
Lets win another series. Produce when it matters most, crooked number innings, let's go Yankees.
Taillon injures/reinjures himself in third inning. Leaves game with one out in third and game tied 1-1. King coming in.
1-1 after 3.
Stanton 3 run HR in 7th puts Yanks up 6-2.
Yankees take 6-2 lead mid seventh on Stanton 3 run home run.
Yanks up 6-2 after 7.
Stanton hit the homer on a pitch out of the strike zone, low and inside. He his laser focused. You could see it in his eyes right thru the TV screen.
Word on Taillon. He reinsured right ankle and very likely out for rest of year.
Tack on run on Urshela homer in 9th makes it 7-2. Three more outs will win it.
Final. Yankees win 7-2. Seventh straight win. Judge, Stanton, Urshela each with a home run.
Taillon 2 1/3 one run, King 2 2/3 one run earns the win, Holmes 1 no runs, Green 1 no runs, Louie Louie 1 no runs, Peralta 1 no runs. Another big win.
Tonight, except for Taillon getting hurt was a great win and just what the Yankees needed starting off the last week of the 162 game season.
Judge and Stanton when they are on their game are one heck of an intimidating duo.
The ugly, Rizzo, Torres, Sanchez, Gardner, 2-16, 1 walk, 0 runs, 0 rbi's, 6 K's.
I feel sorry for Taillon. He was looking good until the ankle went again.
Cole starts tomorrow and Yankees have chance to win this series.
Sanchez looked pretty bad behind the plate. This gets lost in a win.
Yankee pitchers have been doing fantastic. Louie Louie looked great again tonight in his inning.
Lets keep winning. One game at a time.
Knowing that you can never prove one way or another how any lineup change, addition, or subtraction would have worked out, people can only offer an opinion what actually happened with the lineup(s) used.
So, it sure looks as if Boone not using Voit this past week has done wonders for the team and winning.
Cole has been throwing, in my opinion, too many pitches in too many innings. Therefor he is struggling to et seven innings. I would prefer an absolute minimum of seven innings from an "ace" and more often eight innings. He is so due for special game. Tonight would be a great time to start a run of special games.
Todays Yankee Lineup
Gerrit Cole (R) P
1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
2. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
3. Aaron Judge (R) RF
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Joey Gallo (L) LF
6. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
7. Gio Urshela (R) SS
8. Brett Gardner (L) CF
9. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
Boone sticking to his lineup guns. Going for number eight, will eight be enough?
Would help if some of the guys who didn't produce last night make a big contribution tonight.
Old King Cole was a merry old soul who gave up a line double on his first pitch and then a screaming home run to the second batter putting his kingdom down 2-0 without getting an out.
Yanks down 3-0 after 2.
King Cole has Yankees in hole 3-0 after two innings.
Yankees get first hit in fifth and score 2 runs. Trail 4-2 mid fifth.
Yanks down 5-3 after 6.
Higashioka 2 out 2 rbi single ties game at 5 in 7th and takes Cole off the hook. Loaisiga in to pitch the 7th.
Loaisiga with a 1,2,3 7th. 5-5 game.
Holmes in for 8th. Gives up home run. Yanks down 6-5 thru 8.
Final. Yankees lose 6-5. Holmes takes the loss but Cole buried the Yankees giving up 5 runs in a pathetic effort in a big game from your number one starter. A step backwards tonight.
Cole is over paid. Tonight was a big loss and it was all on Cole.
The win streak is over. Kluber goes tomorrow to try to win the series.
When your 'best pitcher' comes up empty and quickly buries his team in a big game as last nights was, it is not acceptable. Cole should be embarrassed.
I was very disappointed with Cole last night. I can accept losing and close well pitched game, but Cole did not pitch well and he cost his team the game with a very poor effort.
Hell, Heaney could have done what Cole did last night, and the Yankees could have saved $300 million.
Bright spot from last night, you do have to appreciate the way the Yankee bats fought back. The hole Cole dug was just to deep.
