THE 2026 BASEBALL SEASON -- 162 GAMES TO PLAYOFFS
Here we are 23 games into the 2026 season with a 14-9 record. At this point I feel very comfortable in saying the Yankees will make the playoffs, and win the AL East division. The YANKEE win total for the regular season should be about 101 wins. I broke the season into thirds, with 54 games in each third. Because the YANKEE starting pitching is just getting better and better with disabled list pitchers returning. Cole and Rodon will be back very soon, and I am not counting on Schmidt at this point in time. I am also looking forward for Volpe's return, returning as an improved hitter and fielder. Watch and see for yourself.
Now let me break down the three 54 game thirds into actual win/loss numbers. Remember WIN METHOD fans, wins are the only number in baseball that determines the best players and teams. Frist third, I went with a low 27-27 record. For the middle third, with Cole and Rodon's return, with Fried, Schlittler, Warren, Gil, and Weathers available, look for the bullpen being better also, with Cruz, Bednar, Headrick, and Hill being the top holdovers. I am not even mentioning Schmidt's return. Middle third record 36-18. Then we come to the final third of games. With the strength of the roster and the strength of the YANKEE minor leaguers, look for the YANKEES to make deals, if needed, to upgrade the lineup. The final third is the race to the finish line and the playoffs. Record 38-16. That will make for a 101-61 won/loss record. Not to shabby.

Final. Yankees win 9-2. Cole goes 5 2/3 innings for the win throwing 105 pitches. When the Yankees gave him a quick 7-0 lead it looked as if he was working on some pitches. Bullpen went the final 3 1/3 scoreless innings using five guys who got in some light work. Rice two solo HRs, Lombard a solo HR, and McMahon with a grand slam for seven of the runs. Yanks lead series 2 games to 1, Schlittler tomorrow to win series.
Yankees win easy one tonight, but the sux did not use a top starter. Yanks scored 7 runs off the kid in three innings. In essence these last few games are meaningless.
Todays Yankee lineup
Cam Schlittler RHP
P Goldschmidt (R) DH
C Bellinger (L) LF
H Ramos (R) RF
B Rice (L) 1B
A Rosario (R) 3B
G Lombard Jr. (R) SS
A Volpe (R) 2B
A Wells (L) C
J Caballero (R) CF
Schlittler in his final game of 162 game season. His next start will be in the playoffs. Lets play for a win and taking 3 of 4 from division winner Tampa Bay Rays.
This game is being played as if it means nothing, which is exactly what it means. Yanks down 4-1 thru six. Schlittler only went three innings. Yankees into third bullpen guy so far. There's just excitement. Rain moving into New York over the weekend, so the Saturday game is being played on Friday afternoon as part of the doubleheader.
Lombard putting on a show tonight as he hit 2 run HR in bottom of 8th giving Yanks 6-4 lead.
Yankees win and take series from Rays coming from four runs down to win 6-4.
Final. Yankees win 6-4. One crazy meaningless game. Yankees trailing 4-0 coming to bat in sixth inning score a run on Wells home run. In seventh inning Lombard rbi double makes it 4-2. On wild pitch Lombard scores evading the catchers tag at home as he stops short does a leaping half turn to avoid the tag and winding up behind home plate, reaches back to touch the plate to make the score 4-3. Goldschmidt then hits a rbi single to tie game 4-4. In 8th inning Lombard hits a bombastic 2 run HR into the second deck for a 6-4 lead. The Yankee did this using only secondary bullpen pieces.
Doubleheader tomorrow, first game 4PM. one admission.
Todays Yankee lineup
Brendan Beck RHP
P Goldschmidt (R) 1B
B Rice (L) DH
H Ramos (R) LF
A Rosario (R) RF
G Lombard Jr. (R) SS
S Jones (L) CF
A Volpe (R) 3B
A Sanchez (R) C
J Caballero (R) 2B
Yankees starting minor league pitcher.
Yankees down 7-0 in third inning. Beck still in game, eating innings. 😊😀
Yanks down 7-1 after 4.
First game of DH over, Yankees lose 10-2. Beck went five innings allowing 7 runs. Do los Santos two innings 2 runs Blackburn one inning 1 run and Bednar 1 inning 0 runs. No Yankee pitcher looked good. Lets not forget it was a nothing game.
Todays Yankee lineup second game of double header
Ryan Yarbrough LHP
B Rice (L) DH
C Bellinger (L) LF
H Ramos (R) RF
L GarcÃa Jr. (L) 1B
S Jones (L) CF
J Chisholm Jr. (L) 2B
A Volpe (R) SS
A Wells (L) C
R McMahon (L) 3B
Yarbrough get start this game to eat innings. Lineup is normal and will get their at bats in a meaningless game.
0-0 after 4.
Yankees take 4-0 lead in 6th on Jones rbi single and Volpe 2 rbi double.
Yanks win second game of double header 6-3. Lineup produced when it mattered most. Warren got the win in long relief.
Final. Yankees win 6-3. Yarbrough starter went 2 1/3 scoreless innings followed by Warren going 3 2/3 scoreless innings and earns the win. Hendrick with another poor inning giving up1 run. Schreiber went a 1,2,3 inning. Finally someone by the name of Cornielle pitches the 9th, horribly, allowing 2 runs and finally getting the final out with two men on base and the batter being the tying run. Yank lineup did a pretty good job scoring 6 runs. Jones, Volpe(2), Ramos, Sanchez, and Garcia all had rbi's
Looks as if the 162nd game of the season will not be played. Northeaster storm in New York with flooding rains.
Todays Yankee game has officially been canceled due to weather. 🤣
I love the Yankees. Need wins, nothing else matters.
