THE 2026 BASEBALL SEASON -- 162 GAMES TO PLAYOFFS

Here we are 23 games into the 2026 season with a 14-9 record.  At this point I feel very comfortable in saying the Yankees will make the playoffs, and win the AL East division.  The YANKEE win total for the regular season should be about 101 wins.  I broke the season into thirds, with 54 games in each third.  Because the YANKEE starting pitching is just getting better and better with disabled list pitchers returning.  Cole and Rodon will be back very soon, and I am not counting on Schmidt at this point in time.  I am also looking forward for Volpe's return, returning as an improved hitter and fielder.  Watch and see for yourself.

Now let me break down the three 54 game thirds into actual win/loss numbers.  Remember WIN METHOD fans, wins are the only number in baseball that determines the best players and teams.  Frist third, I went with a low 27-27 record.  For the middle third, with Cole and Rodon's return, with Fried, Schlittler, Warren, Gil, and Weathers available, look for the bullpen being better also, with Cruz, Bednar, Headrick, and Hill being the top holdovers.  I am not even mentioning Schmidt's return.  Middle third record 36-18.  Then we come to the final third of games.  With the strength of the roster and the strength of the YANKEE minor leaguers, look for the YANKEES to make deals, if needed, to upgrade the lineup.  The final third is the race to the finish line and the playoffs. Record 38-16.  That will make for a 101-61 won/loss record.  Not to shabby.

This blog, your blog, the fans blog is moving slowing but surely to the three billion views level.  You, the most intelligent and knowledgeable baseball fans in the world are making this all happen.  More baseball fans, each day are learning and realizing that WINS are the only stat in all of baseball that matters, and the only stat that counts in determining who are the best players and teams.   Fans from all over the world read this blog everyday.  As a matter of fact, the WIN METHOD blog had a fan visit from a country I didn't know existed.  I had to look it up.  Burkina Faso.

As always, thank you all, every last one of you, with sincere and fond memories, to those fans who have passed away, to the original WIN METHOD fans, to the fans who have come on board along the way, to the newest fans, and to the fans yet to join all of you and the WIN METHOD blog.  THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH and LETS GO YANKEES.

Yanks down 2-0 after 6.

Final. Yankees lose 6-0. A good way to lose when you don't score a run.. Rodon takes the loss. Offense quiet but for a big hit that should have scored a run but for a poor base running blunder.

Roger Brown said...

Yanks go down 6-0 allowing 4 ninth inning runs. Series even at one game apiece. Fried in tonight's game.

Todays Yankee lineup

Max Fried LHP

T Grisham (L) CF
B Rice (L) DH
H Ramos (R) RF
L García Jr. (L) 1B
J Chisholm Jr. (L) 2B
G Lombard Jr. (R) SS
S Jones (L) LF
A Wells (L) C
J Caballero (R) 3B

Lineup is better, Fried?? Need to win today or tomorrow, or both.

Gil McKenzie said...

After Fried gives up solo HR in 3rd, Yankees answer with a 3 run rally of small ball for a 3-1 lead after three innings.

Victor Grandozi said...

Fried on a pitch count goes 3 2/3 innings and leaves with Yankees up 3-1.

candycane said...

Yanks up 4-1 after 6.

Final. Yankees win 9-2 icing the game with a 5 run 8th inning. The Yankees had 13 hits, all were singles. Nine man batting order, nine different players scored a run, one from each position in the order. Fried on a pitch count start did very Well. Blackburn earned the win with an outstanding relief appearance. Hill and Hendrick got holds. No save recorded because Yankees scoring 5 in the 8th eliminated the save and Bednar was not needed. Beck the 27th roster man because of the double header today finished the game.

Todays Yankee lineup

Will Warren RHP

P Goldschmidt (R) 1B
C Bellinger (L) LF
H Ramos (R) RF
L García Jr. (L) DH
A Rosario (R) 3B
T Grisham (L) CF

J Chisholm Jr. (L) 2B

Hope Warren is at his best and the lineup contributes what is needed to win. A loss is not horrific but a win would be stupendous.

0-0 after 3.

BIGTIMEYANKEE said...

Goldschmidt with a when it matters most 2 rbi single for the first runs in the game giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.

BIGTIMEYANKEE said...

I should have waited, adding to above comment, followed by Bellinger single and Ramos with a 3 run home run for a five run inning and a 5-0 lead.

coryankee said...

Well how about that, the Yankees with a big game big inning scoring 5 runs in the fifth inning on a Goldschmidt 2 run single and a 3 run Ramos home run, his first HR as a Yankee.

Stache Colinski said...

Warren with possibly his best start of his career. Seven innings, seven strikeouts, four hits, one walk, and 0, nada, nil, zero, no runs. Just what was needed when it mattered most.

YankeeMike said...

The win today moves the Yankees 4 games ahead of the sux and if tied at season close the Yankees have the tie breaker. Just need to come back with a career making hot streak.

Mark Wagoner said...

What a sweet win. The game may have turned on one play. The umpire trap caught ball that couldn't be overturned because of lack of irrefutable evidence.

Diane Stahl said...

What a great weekend, anytime the Yankees beat the sux is a great time.

Yanks head west, three games with Angels, M,T,W, off day H, three games with Padres, F,S,,N.

A Rosario (R) 3B
T Grisham (L) CF

Rodriquez to impress again? Lineup half as good as yesterday?

Yanks down 1-0 after 3.

Richard Moustakis said...

Looks as if Yankees bats weren't on the plane with the team. Hope they arrive soon, before the game is over.

Yanks23245 said...

Sad game tonight. Rodriquez struggled every inning, failed in every when it mattered most at bat, giving up 4 two runs. Taken out after 3 2/3 innings and Yankees down 4-0.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 10-1. There is nothing to say except everything that could go wrong, all went wrong in one game. Now, that is out of the system and we win the next two games with no problem. Oh yeah, the Yankee bats arrived at the hotel.

Victor Bruno said...

I think we will see a different Yankee team tonight, in more ways than one.

Guy Padikian said...

Todays Yankee lineup

Gerrit Cole RHP

B Rice (L) DH

S Jones (L) RF
J Chisholm Jr. (L) 2B
T Grisham (L) CF
R McMahon (L) 3B
J Caballero (R) SS
A Wells (L) C

Eight left handed bats for the Yankees and Cole starting. Not getting embarrassed tonight.

Greg Ames said...

Good start, Jones 2 run HR and Chisholm solo HR for a 3-0 lead before Cole throws a pitch.

candycane said...

Yanks up 4-1 after 3.

Yosi Inoue said...

Cole gives up the ghost in sixth allowing 2 runs and is taken out with the tying run on third with one out. Hendrick saves the day with a K and a fly out. Yanks now up only 4-3 after six. Yankee bats suddenly silent again.

Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnn, 7-3.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 7-3. Cole gets the win going a very shaky 5 1/3 innings. Hendrick went 1 1/3 innings for a big hold saving the win for Cole. Blackburn 1 1/3 innings for a hold. And new guy, Schreiber went a 1,2,3 ninth. Jones with a 2 run HR and rbi single to lead the offense. Grisham solo HR. Grisham rbi single and Goldschmidt a pinch hit sac fly. Cole the let down of the game.

Yanks score 5 in 10th to take 6-1 lead. Too late for Schlittler.

Swen Jorgenson said...

Yanks win in ten as offense does nothing for nine innings and cost Schlittler the win. Then with two outs in the tenth inning get five consecutive singles for 5 runs and a 6-3 win.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 6-3 in ten innings. Schlittler goes 8 innings allowing 1 run and 2 hits and gets a no decision. Bednar pitches a scoreless 9th and earns the win when Yankees score 5 runs in 10th. Fulmer gives up a 2 run HR in 10th and Yankees win 6-3. Take series 2 games to 1 barely.

Could use a big bounce back win today. Need to score runs to do that. Can't get much better pitching than we did last night, and we still lost.

Patricia Piper said...

Offense, we need offense, the pitchers can't do everything.

Norm Jackson said...

Yankees score four in top of second. 4-0.

candycane said...

Yanks up 5-1 thru six. If Fulmer throws one more pitch as a Yankee, Boone should be fired.

muchomachoman said...

Theeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnn, 5-1.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 5-1. Should've been 10-1. Rodon went five strong innings allowing the Padres lone run. Fulmer, Hendrick, Schreiber, and Hill went the last four with only Fulmer looking bad. Jones rbi double, Goldschmidt rbi walk, Bellinger 2 rbi single, and Lombard rbi sacfly. The bad, there were more failures when it mattered most than successes. A win is all that matters.

J Domínguez (S) RF
G Lombard Jr. (R) SS
R McMahon (L) 3B

Lombard the only Yankee right handed bat in lineup. Cole must pitch better than last start. Need to win to take this series.

johnny said...

Lets go Yankees.

YankeeMike said...

Cole, you gotta be kidding. Back to back to back home runs to start the game. With King pitching for the Padres that may be the game. Something is not right, I saw it last game. First out is a catch against the centerfield wall. It looks like batting practice. Second out is bullet line drive to center. Third out is the only weakly hit ball, a grounder to shortstop. Down 3-0.

candycane said...

Yanks down 3-0 after 2.

Bond007 said...

Yankees trail 3-0 after six innings. Cole after the first three batters of the game has pitched a great game.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 4-3. Cole goes seven innings allowing four solo home runs, three straight to start the game, and takes the loss all by himself. Yankee late rally falls short. Tough one to lose, but a loss like this puts things into perspective and wakes you up.

YankeeMike said...

I have to apologize for my comment at the start of the game. I was very frustrated at Cole and the home runs to start the game. Cole pitched brilliantly after those first three batters and looked great, which in the end is very comforting right now. The Yanks will win it all this year, I feel it. The Gods of baseball were just testing me.

Deb F said...

Final, Yanks lose 4-3. A game they could have won. Lets finish the season strong and get ready to welcome out captain back.

Aaron Judge likely to return to the lineup sometime this week. WIN METHOD stated a few days after Judge injury diagnosed, that Judge would not play until September. He was the only person who stated that. All other forecasts where from the All-Star game to first week in August.

Doug Parker said...

Yankees open three game series with Colorado Rockies tonight. I always worry about series like this, the Rockies are playing for nothing, loosey and goosey. Yankees, as a team better start playing like every game is a must win for the rest of the season.

Final. Yankees win 5-3. Schlittler goes seven sparkling innings allowing one run and earns the win. Hendrick goes one perfect inning for a hold. Hill gets two outs in the night but gives up a two run home run and is taken out of game. Bednar in for one batter, strikes him out and earns the save. Judge went 0 -3 with 2 strikeouts.

Steven Sands said...

Yanks defeat Rockies 5-3, but it wasn't an easy win. Yanks only up 2-1 after seven innings. Bats need to get into a groove and score more often and with crooked numbers.
