YANKEE 2024 MLB SEASON -- 162 games to the playoffs

The New York YANKEES  start their 2024 season today.  They start the season with their best pitcher, Gerrit Cole, on the DL (disabled list) and their starting third baseman, DJ LeMahieu also on the DL.  It is estimated that Cole will be out of action for about two months, and LeMahieu out for anywhere from  two weeks to two months.  There are also several other players who will start the season on the DL.

The ultimate goal for the YANKEES is to win the World Series.  There are many thresholds that must be met just to get to the World Series.  Every threshold is met in only one way, WINS.  Wins is the only stat that determines the best players and the best teams in baseball.  Over the 162 game season the teams who win their division will move on to the playoffs, and the next teams in each league with the most wins will also go on to the playoffs.  The playoffs then start and only the teams that WIN each round move forward towards the World Series.
Any team that loses any round is finished for the season.  Only WINS determines which teams move forward, until only one team in each league is left, and they will be the two teams who will meet in the World Series to determine which team and their players are the best in baseball. No players individual stats mean a thing on which players and teams reach the World Series.  Learn this fans, if you haven't already or if you are new to baseball, only WINS determines which players are and which team is the World Champions of baseball, by winning the World Series.

The YANKEES have upgraded their lineup and roster significantly by adding Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and Marcus Stroman to the team for the 2024 season.  Anthony Volpe will be in his second season and still on the improve.  Austin Wells, a promising youngster, has been added to the catching ranks. The YANKEES, will be looking for help from several young pitchers until their 'ace' Cole returns to the starting rotation.

In other news, this blog, the WIN METHOD YANKEE baseball blog, will break two billion views in the next several months.  The WIN METHOD blog is the number one YANKEE baseball blog in the world with readers and contributors of opinions from all around the world.  Yes, 2,000,000,000 views, from all over the world.  Thank you all, wherever you are from for your viewership and your opinions.

As the season begins, lets all get behind and support our team, the New York YANKEES, and their run to the World Series.  It will not be easy, there are thirty teams with the same goal.

Again, thank you everyone, for making the WIN METHOD what it is today, the best blog, forum, or site in the world, just as you all are, the best in the world readers and posters.

Yankees take this series with Houston with a 9-4 win. Go for sweep tomorrow.

Final. Yankees win 9-4. Another laugher. Rodon goes 6 1/3 innings giving 2 runs on 7 hits and 0 walks, earning the win. Ferguson 2/3 scoreless innings, Gonzalez 2/3 inning allowing 1 run, Hamilton the final 1 1/3 innings also giving up a run. Offense, alive again with Soto leading the way, going 3-5 and 5 rbi's. Judge also 3-5 and 3 rbi's. Stanton the other rbi. Yanks take series and will play for a series sweep tomorrow.

Marcus Stroman RHP

A Volpe (R) SS
J Soto (L) RF
A Judge (R) CF
A Verdugo (L) LF
G Stanton (R) DH
A Rizzo (L) 1B
G Torres (R) 2B
A Wells (L) C
O Cabrera (S) 3B

Stroman needs to give us a good start. Need the lineup to keep the runs coming. Good series for the Yankees so far on all aspects.

Doug Parker said...

Rinse and repeat, same lineup as last nights.

Lets go Yankees.

yankeeclipper said...

Stroman outdid the two pitchers who started for the Yankees in this series. They each allowed a run on a solo HR in their game they pitched. Stroman allowed 2 HR's and 3 runs. Stroman is starting to be a problem.

Yanks down 3-2 after three. Volpe two run home run in third tightens game. Stroman in jams in second and third innings and gets out of them both. He hasn't had good inning yet. In trouble every inning.

Stroman guts out 5 2/3 innings, but leaves game with Yankees in a 4-2 hole.

Yankees lose a tough one. Down 3-0 before coming to bat, Yanks go down 4-3. Stroman gave up all 4 Astro runs.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 4-3. Stroman with a horrid first inning giving up 3 runs and then another 1 run in the 5th for the loss. He was in trouble several times but got away with when it mattered most big outs to at least give the Yankees a chance. Yankee runs on a Volpe 2 run home run and a Judge solo home run. Bullpen threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings and gave the lineup a chance. You can' t win them all.

Next up, Tampa visits Stadium for three game weekend series. Schmidt, Cortes, and Gil starting for Yanks. Take another series and then a road trip.

Well the Yanks took 2 of 3 in this series and swept them in Houston 4 game series. 6 of 7 is not bad, and winning 3 game series consistently gets you to the playoffs. Do it again this weekend.

Final. Yankees win 2-0. Big game from Schmidt, likely the best of his career. Went 6 2/3 shoutout innings, 0 runs, 5 hits, 2 walks, and 6 K's to earn the win. Burdi 1/3 inning and a hold. Weaver 1 inning and a hold. Holmes 1 inning, a nail biting 1 inning, allowing a single and 2 walks loading the bases, but did strike out all 3 outs he got throwing 34 pitches to earn another save.

Lou Lis said...

Nice win, got scary in the 9th, but Holmes created his own mess then cleaned it up himself.

Only Yankee offense was a 2 rbi single from Volpe who had 3 hits today. Yankee lineup was dull, but for Volpe. Rubber game tomorrow.

1/10th of an inch. If Soto's flyout in the 7th is 1/10th inch lower off his bat, the ball likely would have been a 3 run home run and given the Yankees a 5-4 lead at the time. Changes the whole ballgame.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 10-6. It was easy, then it wasn't, then it was. Gil went six very strong scoreless in command innings for the win. But the bullpen had a problem. Ferguson in the 7th, pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up 4 runs, HORRID. Burdi came in, pitched 0 innings and gave up a run, HORRID, score now 6-5 and bases loaded with Rays. Weaver come in for 1 2/3 innings of shutout ball and earns a big big hold. Hamilton pitches the 9th and allows 1 run, no save. But Yankees win 10-6. Offense, alive, Judge sac fly rbi after Volpe lead off triple in first inning. 1-0.
Jamal HR 2-0 in 3rd inning. Trevino 2 run HR 4-0 4th inning. Judge 2 run HR 6-0 6th inning. After bullpen give up 5 runs, Yanks lead 6-5 after 7 innings. Torres 3 run HR and Trevino another sole HR 10-5 Yankees 8th inning. Big bats with big home runs for the win, in a game the bullpen failed. Yankees do take series.

Here is a story about Clayton Beeter at AAA right now. He likely may be the next up rotation starter at the MLB level when needed.

In six starts at Triple-A, Beeter has posted a 3-1 record with a 2.89 ERA. Across 28 innings, Beeter has held opponents to 17 hits, walking 16 while striking out 41. He has also permitted only one home run, notching a 1.69 ERA thus far in two May starts.

Beeter’s workload included a showdown against Gallo’s Rochester Red Wings on Wednesday in Moosic, Pa. Beeter struck out Gallo twice (once swinging and once looking), while Gallo reached base once on an error.

“I know I have good stuff,” Beeter said. “It’s just kind of getting into the mindset of believing that my stuff is going to play, even in the [strike] zone. It just allows me to go out there and attack. Obviously, when I do that, I end up having good results.”

MLB Pipeline’s writeup on Beeter notes that he shows flashes of plus pitches. His best offering is an 82-86 mph slider with two-plane depth that hitters can’t barrel or lay off. His fastball sits 92-94 mph and peaks at 97, with more carry up in the zone than true life.

Beeter also features a curveball and a changeup, though it has been suggested that he could find success out of the bullpen by primarily focusing on the fastball/slider combination.

“His fastball is really good,” catcher Jose Trevino said this spring. “I think his offspeed pitches are really good. He gets to good locations. Just having conversations with him, he’s a smart kid. He understands what his arsenal is and what he can do with it.”

Grosner said...

Right no the Yankees are playing very well, so take all the wins with a grain of salt. There will be downs ahead, and ups ahead. When the season is over the average of all the ups and downs will determine which players and teams go to the playoffs. Wins will determine which players and teams go to the playoff and beyond. Wins are the only thing that matters.

Limit the downs and maximize the ups. Never give up, never stop trying.

Final. Yanks lose 5-4. A disastrous loss after leading 4-1 thru eight innings. Stroman went 7 1/3 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Weaver pitched 2/3 inning scoreless and closing out the 8th inning. Holmes had a nightmare game and blew the game because he did not produce when it mattered, walked 2 batters and gave up 4 hits and 4 runs to lose the game 5-4. Dreadful loss, but remember, you can't win them all, and some losses will hurt big time. This game was one of those. Throw in the fact that the Yankees also gave away multiple scoring opportunities by hitting into three double plays with runners in scoring position.

Final. Yankees lose 6-3. Schmidt struggled through five innings, only gave up 2 runs, but it was enough to earn the loss since the offense didn't score any runs for him. Santana gave up 2 runs and Burdi gave up 1. Yankee offense was a 3 run home run from Torres. Two straight losses now, after seven straight wins.

Cortes throws 97 pitches but grinded out five scoreless innings for the win. Kahnle worked a scoreless inning, Tonkin gave up 2 runs in 1 1/3 innings, Weaver 1 run in 1 2/3 innings. Yankees still down 2 games to 1 in series with final game tomorrow. Yanks need a win to split series.

Final. Yankees win 5-0. Split series. Gil magnificent again. Goes 6 1/3 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, and earns the win. Gonzalez 1 shutout inning, Burdi 1/3 shutout inning, Holmes 1 1/3 shutout innings and earn a save. Offense, Judge and Stanton solo home runs, Soto rbi single, Rizzo and Verdugo rbi sac flies. Gil, unquestionably the 'ace' of the team until Cole comes back and shows he is the 'ace'. Something for him to shot for.

What a great rally in the Bronx last night. Thousands of people waking up to the reality that Trump will help them in stead of spitting on them as the liberal democrats have done forever and are doing to this day. Trumps message to the people was upbeat and positive. Can you imagine if he wins New York? Anything is possible, but I think there are just too many very ignorant people and illegal criminal aliens who vote illegally in New York. God forbid anyone will do something about it. This is the the liberal democrat base of corruption.

Yankees rock and roll to start road trip, as they pummel the Padres and Darvish for an 8-0 win. Darvish's head was on a swivel as the Yankee bats made contact. Some real hard hit balls by Yankee lineup. All Darvish could do is look to see where each hit would land. Four of them landed over 400 feet away and were home runs.

Verdugo is having one of the best slightly above league average seasons a player can have. His OPS+ is just 108 but it seems like every game he has a big at bat and drives in an important run.

Nelson Muntz, you appear to be a stat fraud. However, if you are capable of understanding, the WIN METHOD clearly explains what you are unable to understand about Verdugo.

I wonder what influence Cole has on the pitching staff this season while he has been inactive. I seem to always see him talking to them, showing them grips of the baseball, and are angles when throwing. If anything has made them each better, not only physically throwing but also in mental attitude when pitching.

Ferguson 1/3 inning 1 run, and finally Tonkin 1 2/3 inning 0 runs. Yankee runs Soto rbi double and Verdugo solo HR. Didn't sweep, but won the series. Off day for Yankees on Memorial Day tomorrow.

Final. Yankees lose 4-3. Error costs game combined in no production when it mattered most. Cortes goes 5 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs and leaves leading 3-2. Kahnle 2/3 innings 0 runs. Weaver 1 2/3 innings 2 runs neither earned because of Rizzo error, and takes the loss. Holmes 1/3 inning and fails when it mattered most giving up the game losing hit earning a blown save.
Uninspired play by Yankees cost game and lose first game in series.
