The New York YANKEES start their 2024 season today. They start the season with their best pitcher, Gerrit Cole, on the DL (disabled list) and their starting third baseman, DJ LeMahieu also on the DL. It is estimated that Cole will be out of action for about two months, and LeMahieu out for anywhere from two weeks to two months. There are also several other players who will start the season on the DL.
The ultimate goal for the YANKEES is to win the World Series. There are many thresholds that must be met just to get to the World Series. Every threshold is met in only one way, WINS. Wins is the only stat that determines the best players and the best teams in baseball. Over the 162 game season the teams who win their division will move on to the playoffs, and the next teams in each league with the most wins will also go on to the playoffs. The playoffs then start and only the teams that WIN each round move forward towards the World Series.
Any team that loses any round is finished for the season. Only WINS determines which teams move forward, until only one team in each league is left, and they will be the two teams who will meet in the World Series to determine which team and their players are the best in baseball. No players individual stats mean a thing on which players and teams reach the World Series. Learn this fans, if you haven't already or if you are new to baseball, only WINS determines which players are and which team is the World Champions of baseball, by winning the World Series.
The YANKEES have upgraded their lineup and roster significantly by adding Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and Marcus Stroman to the team for the 2024 season. Anthony Volpe will be in his second season and still on the improve. Austin Wells, a promising youngster, has been added to the catching ranks. The YANKEES, will be looking for help from several young pitchers until their 'ace' Cole returns to the starting rotation.
In other news, this blog, the WIN METHOD YANKEE baseball blog, will break two billion views in the next several months. The WIN METHOD blog is the number one YANKEE baseball blog in the world with readers and contributors of opinions from all around the world. Yes, 2,000,000,000 views, from all over the world. Thank you all, wherever you are from for your viewership and your opinions.
As the season begins, lets all get behind and support our team, the New York YANKEES, and their run to the World Series. It will not be easy, there are thirty teams with the same goal.
Again, thank you everyone, for making the WIN METHOD what it is today, the best blog, forum, or site in the world, just as you all are, the best in the world readers and posters.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 2054 Newer› Newest»Gil finished five innings and leaves down 3-1. He was off and had to work hard. Yankee bats not any better.
Yanks go down 3-1. Real dud of a game from offense.
Final. Yankees lose 3-1. Yankee one rbi from Cabrera. How about this pitching line from Gil. 5 innings, 99 pitches, 3 runs, 3 hits, 7 walks, 6 K's and the loss.
Maybe a stinker game like last will bring reality to the team, nothing is a given, you have to earn it.
The greatest teams of all time have lost games during regular season play. When an opposing pitcher is having a great game and things go his way, he can beat any team on any given day.
Great lineups can have bad days when nothing falls in and hard it balls are right at a defender and the defense makes a sparkling play or two or three.
In the end, teams have to win games to go to the playoffs. After 162 games only the best teams and the best players go to the playoffs based on the ruled of MLB at the time.
Smile, be happy, the season has just begun. There will be ups and downs. Increase the ups and limit the downs.

Break losing streak in its tracks.
Yanks up 1-0 after 2.
Yankees trailing 5-3 after seven. Rodon only went four tough innings and left down 3-1.
Final. Yankees 5-4. Lose third straight game and lose first series of season. Rodon takes the loss going four inning, throwing 101 pitches, 3 runs, 5 hits, 4 walks and 5 K's. The 8 and 9 batters, Trevino 3 rbi's and Cabrera 1 rbi for all the Yankee runs. Judge continues his dismal slump going 0-4 with 2 K's and Volpe was horrid tonight going 0-4 and 4 K's. Slip sliding away. Playing tomorrow to avoid a sweep.
Final, Yankees lose 5-4. Rodon gets the loss, only going four innings. Torres with another poor mental and defensive game. Stroman starts tomorrow to try to keep the Yankees from getting swept.

Yanks down 2-1 after 5.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnn 6-4 comebacker.
Final. Yankees win 6-4. Score 5 runs in the last to innings. Soto leads the way going 3-3 with HR and 2 rbi's. Stanton solo HR. Trevino with a big pinch hit rbi in 9th, and Judge the game winning 2 rbi hit in the 9th. Stroman went 5 1/3 allowing 2 runs and gave the Yankees a chance. Ferguson went 1 inning giving up 2 runs and putting the Yankees down 4-1. Hamilton went 1 1/3 scoreless innings, and Gonzalez 1/3 inning and earns the win. Holmes worked a scoreless 9th for the save, his seventh of the season. Production when it mattered most wins the game and the day, while also preventing a series sweep.
A big come from behind early season win. Home plate ump had his own strike zone. He was pathetic. Both sides.
Hate to lose games like todays, but it sure is nice to win them. Off day tomorrow then Tampa comes to town for three games.
Schmidt, Cortes, and Gil named as starters for weekend series with Tampa.
So we lost our first series of the season. Just gives us a chance to start another series streak. A win tonight and we are on the move again.

Biden suggests uncle eaten by ‘cannibals’ in New Guinea — but military says his WWII plane lost at sea
Published April 17, 2024, 3:50 p.m. ET
President Biden twice implied Wednesday that his uncle Ambrose Finnegan was eaten by cannibals in New Guinea after his plane crashed during World War II — even though military records show that the aircraft plunged into the Pacific.
“He got shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals at the time,” Biden initially told reporters after visiting a war memorial that bears his uncle’s name in Scranton, Pa.
“They never recovered his body, but the government went back when I went down there and they checked and found some parts of the plane.”

Yanks win first game of series 5-3, but they didn't make it easy.
Final. Yankees win 5-3. Schmidt goes 5 1/3 innings throwing 102 pitches and leaves down 1-0. Santana works 1 2/3 scoreless innings and earns the win. Hamilton comes for the 8th and gives up 2 runs. Holmes in for a scoreless 9th and the save, his eighth of the season. Yankees scored all their runs in the 7th inning, Cabrera a hot shot past the first baseman for the tying run, scored wrongly as an error so no rbi. Volpe follows with and rbi single for a 2-1 lead, then Soto with a e run HR for a 5-1 lead at the time and eventually the game winner.

Beautiful, Torres benched. Six lefthanded bats. Jones at second base. Do it again guys.
I hope Jones gets a couple of hits and plays great defense today, if only to keep Torres on the bench. When Torres is not hitting (like now), combined with his inferior defense and head not in the game, he is useless.
0-0 after 3.
Pitchers duel. 0-0 after six innings. Yankees with just 3 hits. One a bloop, the other two, line drives by Soto, a single and a double.
Extra innings tied at nothing.
Yankees whitewashed, goose egged, shutout, lose 2-0 in ten innings.
Final. Yankees lose 2-0 in ten innings. Waste seven scoreless innings from Cortes. Weaver scoreless 8th, and Holmes scoreless 9th. Ferguson take the loss with a poor outing again. Yankee offense, non-existent. Soto 2 hits, Rizzo and Verdugo 1 hit each. Judge looked like a little leaguer with four horrid strikeouts. Series even with rubber game tomorrow. Judge has really looked bad, and that is not good.
Wash rinse repeat. Never changes, if you don't score a run you can't win the game.
Rubber game tomorrow with Gil on the mound for the Yankees. Gil needs to throw strikes and make the batters have to swing.
Here I thought Judge had learned to not swing at pitches a foot out of the strike zone. I can't believe he has regressed so badly. Where is the hitting coach and is Judge watching replays of his at bats. Wake up man, the team needs you to produce.

Santana flops and almost give the game away in the 8th, giving up 3 runs, 3 hits and a walk. Gonzalez close game out in 9th and earns the save. Rizzo rbi single in first inning for Yankee first run. Then in the 5th inning after Soto and Judge make the first two outs. Stanton, Rizzo, Torres each walk to load the bases. The the production when it matters most, Verdugo 2 rbi single, Trevino rbi single and Cabrera rbi single for a 4 run inning and a 5-1 lead, that held up. Yankees win the series.
Next up, Oakland A's come to town for a four game series Monday thru Thursday.

Final. Yankees lose 2-0. Rodon goes 7 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 3 walks. Hamilton a scoreless 8th. Gonzalez infield single and home run in the 9th for the loss. Yankee bats, dead to the world. Three singles, that was it. Nees to win next three game to take this series.
After the hot start, looks like things are flattening out. Held scoreless again.
Here I thought I would watch a nice Monday afternoon game. But nooooo! It was sad. Come on guys.
I'm going to say it again, and again, if you don't score, you don't ever win.
Rodon throws a great game and because his offense doesn't do their job again, he gets nothing for it. And worse, the team doesn't win.

Yanks up 4-2 after 3.
After 4 run first inning, Yankees clinging to a 4-3 lead thru six innings.
Ok, Yanks with 4 hits and 4 runs in first inning and one hit for rest of game, lead 4-3 with Holmes in for a save try in 9th. K, ground out to third and K for final out. A 4-3 win.
Yanks win 4-3. Stroman goes 5 1/3 innings. Allowing all 3 A's runs and K's 9.
Final. Yankees win 4-3. Stroman goes 5 1/3 innings, 3 runs, 7 hits, 2 HR's, 9 K's and earns the win. Marinaccio 1 inning, Ferguson 1 inning, Santana 2/3 inning, all get a hold, Holmes 1 inning for the save, his 9th of the season. Fred Slube, I agree completely. All this support for terrorism started with the one and only barack HUSSEIN obama.
A win is a win, no matter how it comes about. Some you earn, some are given to you. Sometimes the pitching is big, sometimes the lineup is big, sometimes it's a combination of a few different things including defense.
2-0 Yanks after one on Judge 2 run home run.
Yanks up 4-0 after 4.
Yankees win it 7-3. Judge two run HR, Rizzo and Soto with solo HR's.
Final. Yankees win 7-3. Schmidt goes 5 1/3 innings, earns the win, allowing 3 runs and 4 hits. That was all the A's runs and hits for the game. Weaver a perfect 2 2/3 innings for a hold, and Hamilton a perfect 9th, but no save. Final game of series tomorrow, a win takes the series for the Yankees, a loss would mean a split. Soto 2 rbi's and a HR. Judge 2rbi's on a 2 run HR. Volpe and rbi triple. Rizzo and rbi solo HR. Verdugo and rbi sac fly. A nice win.

Good game from Cortes, good game from lineup should produce another win.
Yanks down 3-1 thru third. Fail to score with bases loaded and no outs.i
Final. Yankees lose 3-1. Cortes gives up 3 runs in third inning and takes the loss. Why? Because the lineup was putrid when it counted. Only Yankee run was pop fly ball off the bottom of the right field foul pole. The Yankees failed to score in the first inning with the bases loaded and no outs. They also failed to score with the bases loaded and one out. Result, the four game series is a split. Which in my eyes is not good.
Yanks lose 3-1, a game they should have won. They failed every opportunity they had, every one. Very disappointing.

One more time for series win.
Yankee take first inning lead on Judge home run. 1-0.
You can't predict baseball, especially with stats. Yankee take 4-0 lead after 4 innings. Stroman works the 5th inning to qualify for a possible win, gives up 4 runs and is taken out of the game getting 0 outs in the 5th. Marinaccio closes out the 5th. Then Yankee score 7 runs in the 6th for an 11-4 lead.
If you want to be intelligent, smart, knowledgeable baseball fan, remember the only thing that matters in baseball to determine the best, is WINS.
Yankees win a 15-5 romp in Milwaukee and take series 2 games to 1.
Final. Yankees win 15-5. Score 15 runs two games in a row and win series on road in Milwaukee.
Stroman 4 innings allowing 4 runs and does not protect a 4-0 lead and doesn't go five innings.
Marinaccio goes 1 1/3 allowing 1 run and earns the win. Hamilton 2/3 scoreless innings. Tonkin 1 1/3 scoreless innings, Ferguson 2/3 scoreless innings, and Gonzalez 1 inning scoreless. No holds no save awarded. Judge solo HR, Volpe 3 run HR, and Rizzo 2 run HR, his 300th homer of his career. All nine lineup starters scored at least one run and all contributed.
Next stop is Baltimore for a four game series with the foul ball Orioles.
Schmidt, Cortes, Gil, and Rodon starting the four game series in Baltimore starting tomorrow.
Winning this series would be big, a split would be fine.
Best to win them all.
As far as this series goes whichever team wins this week it's not going to effect things for the rest of the season. If the Orioles take three out of four, does it make a statement to the Yankees - you can't beat us at our home ballpark? I doubt it. If it does, the Yankees are pretty damned soft. Just keep an even keel and gather wins as you go along. The team with the most wins at the end of 162 games wins the division. Not any one series, week, or month.
Yankees trail 1-0 after four innings. Judge fails when it matters most, striking out with man on third and less than two outs.
The Verdugo family is expecting a child, he is on paternity leave. Would not happen in the good old days, when men were men and women were women.
Wells a base hit to right field as Stanton moves to second, no, Stanton can't make it to second and is forced out on the throw from right fielder to shortstop for a force out and no hit for Wells. Oh well.
Final. Yankees lose 2-0. Schmidt gives up home run to Oriole lead-off better in first inning and that was the game. Schmidt takes the loss. Yankee lineup out hit the Orioles 7 to 4, but never produced when it counted. Oriole tack on run in the 8th, unearned because of Volpe error. I guess when you score 15 runs in two straight games, many of them meaningless, it balances out when you score none. Unimpressive loss.
Yankees shut out again. Lose game one of four game O's series 2-0.
It must be said every time it happens. You do not score, you do not win, no way no how.
Schmidt strong outing wasted. It is a long season.
Cortes starts game two. A win is needed. But the guy who started the fire of the two game 15 run barrage wife is having a baby. La de da!
Yankees need to be more consistent. Pitching and hitting need to be in consort. Need to play for wins not stats.

Keep the faith Yankee fans, it's a long season with ups and downs.
Yankee lose first two game of O's series, win the next two and all is a draw.
Gils turn tomorrow. Will the lineup support him and/or even show up?
I am having a hard time wrapping my arms around the idea that Stanton should be a bench player. He is a documented bad pinch hitter. He can’t play the field nor run, and he’s useless on the bench. It is now time where the Yankees have to be honest with themselves and admit the fact that with Stanton's limitations, keeping him on the roster is not the answer. As soon as Jasson Dominguez is fully given the ok to hit, he should take Stanton's roster spot and be the designated hitter until he is also given the ok to throw and play in the outfield. The offense will improve greatly when this happens.

OswaldO strikes again, and when it matters most. 0-0, top of 5th he hits two run home run for the first runs in the game and the first lead in this series for the Yankees. Now to hold it, and win.
Gil has gone six dominant scoreless innings and the Yanks are leading 2-0. I wouldn't think Gil will come out for the seventh. It's up to the bullpen now.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnn. 2-0
Yankees with a much needed win. Gil and the bullpen with a shutout. Cabrera with 2 run HR for the only runs of the game.
Final. Yankees win 2-0, on a Trevino single and Cabrera 2 run HR. The Yankees only had 4 hits, 2 by Cabrera, the HR and a single, the single by Trevino and a single by Soto. That was it. The pitching, Gil went 6 1/3 innings, brilliant innings, in command innings, allowing 0 runs, just 2 hits, and 1 walk, and earned the win for his outstanding effort tonight. Ferguson came in for the last 2 outs of the 7th striking out both batters. Hamilton started the 8th inning with a walk, a HBP, then got a flyout. Left with 2 men on and 1 out. Holmes came in and pitched 1 2/3 innings, the last 2 outs in the 8th and the 3 outs in the 9th for the save. Those 5 outs may have been the greatest stretch of pitching in Holmes career. Holmes threw just 23 pitches to get the 5 outs, 20 of them were strikes. Holmes earned a save and did it without any drama. The Orioles only had 6 base runners for the entire game. The downer, nothing from the mainstream lineup, nothing.
Big game for the Yanks tomorrow, and maybe even bigger for Rodon who will start for the Yankees. Bullpen was used tonight, and for sure Holmes will not be available tomorrow.
After tomorrow's game, the Yankees will finish the seven-game road trip either 4-3 or 3-4. Which is not bad considering they will have played two very good winning teams.
After three dud games from the hitters, it would be great to see them like they were in the last two games in Milwaukee.
Lets not forget Cabrera last night. There was a nine innings pitchers duel, 54 outs, only 7 hits in the game combined for both teams, and only one player produced when it mattered most for the entire game. Oswaldo Cabrera had the only runs batted in for the game. Producing when it matters most is what matters most in baseball.
Lets go Yankees.
Biden and everyone in the joe-bama/commie MALADY administration should by locked up in an institution for the criminal insane.
Last night was the best stuff I can recall from Holmes. Great control, through strike after strike, and the O's hitters couldn't do a thing about it. If it happened in a playoff of world series game, it would be an epic story.

America, under the present administration is in bad shape. In my opinion, things will get much worse before they get better, if at all. Bad shape, because of progressive, liberal, democrat and their policies of lies, corruption, deceit, and crime from top to bottom.
Final. Yankees lose 7-2. All on Rodon. Rodon earns the loss, goes 4 innings and gives up 7 runs and 8 hits. Bullpen, goes last four innings and retires 12 straight batters. Offense, pretty much a dud. Torres meaningless HR. Rizzo with a two out rbi single to give the Yanks a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning. A big when it matters most hit at the time. Yankees finish road trip 3-4 and head home for the weekend.
A truly rotten game from Rodon in a big spot. He failed and was hit hard by everyone.
On the trip home from Baltimore, I don't think the Yankee team should be proud nor happy with themselves with how they performed in Baltimore and the outcome of their performance. Hope it was a good slap in the face for all of them. Maybe a double slap for the non performers. I guess Gil will have to sit by himself.😁😀🤣😃😄
Stroman, Schmidt, and Cortes for the Tiger series in the Stadium.
Get back to winning series.
Todays Yankee Lineup
Marcus Stroman RHP
A Volpe (R) SS
J Soto (L) RF
A Judge (R) CF
A Verdugo (L) LF
G Stanton (R) DH
A Rizzo (L) 1B
G Torres (R) 2B
A Wells (L) C
O Cabrera (S) 3B
Until the Yankees replace Stanton, he still is the only option right now. Can only hope that when Jasson Dominguez starts rehab in AAA, he excels, and the Yankees have their DH replacement.
0-0 after 2.
0-0 after 4.
Seven complete. Yankees doing it again. Trail 1-0 and have just 2 singles.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnn. Two runs in bottom of 9th. 2-1
Yankees score 2 in 9th for a 2-1 walk off win. Judge single, Verdugo bunt single, Stanton rbi double, Rizzo game winning single. Two hits over first eight innings. Four consecutive hits in the ninth. You never know, nonetheless, a good win after the first eight innings of nothing.
Much needed win. Only if you don't give up. Two more over the weekend needed.
Final. Yankees win 2-1. Score 2 runs in bottom of 9th for a walk off win. After being shutout in Baltimore yesterday, the Yankees went 8 more scoreless innings before staging a 9th inning four hit rally for the win. Judge led off inning with single, Verdugo (team player) bunts for a single, Stanton, yes Stanton doubles to tie game, and Rizzo singles for the winning rbi. Stroman went 5 1/3 innings allowing the Tigers lone run walking the run in with the bases loaded. Hamilton came in likely saved the game by getting the last two outs with no further damage. Hamilton went 1 1/3 shutout innings. Gonzalez followed with 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Santana pitched a scoreless 9th and earned the win.
Walkoff win with 2-1. Nice comeback.
Four straight hits to end last nights win, keep it going today.

Playing for two in a row and a series win. A stirring lift for the fans last night with a ninth inning rally and win.
Yankees lead 5-3 through six innings.
Yanks win 5-3. Play for sweep tomorrow.
Final. Yankees win 5-3. Schmidt goes five tough innings allowing all 3 Tiger runs and earns the win. Ferguson 1/3 inning allowing a walk and single, and was promptly removed. Weaver in for 2 1/3 innings allowing just 1 hit while striking out 4 for a save. Holmes the final 1 1/3 for his 11th save. Stanton rbi single in first inning, Judge rbi double and Rizzo 3 run home run and that was it for all the Yankee runs. Lineup still struggling to a degree, yet finding a way to win game. Yankee win take the series and will play for a sweep tomorrow.
A win today with a four run third inning, three on Rizzo's home run, but no add on runs, allowed the Tigers to stay close until the last out.
Cortes starts tomorrow's game. Another chance to right his ship.
Possibility Sunday's game could get washed out.

Game still on as rain is just lightly falling. Rizzo out with Cabrera at first base. Berti at third base.
Judge HR in first, Cabrera rbi double in second give Yanks 2-0 lead thru two innings.
Yanks up 2-0 after 2.
Yankees lead 5-2 mid 8th, and imbecile umpires call for tarp to be put on field. It has been raining the entire game. Now with six outs to go to end game tarp is put on field.
Final. Yankees win 5-2 in rain shortened 7 1/2 inning game. Cortes went 6 1/3 innings, putting two runners on base in the 7th which both scored, and wound up with a no decision although pitching a very good game. Hamilton came in for 1/3 ineffective inning allowing both inherited runners to score costing Cortes the win. Gonzalez came in for 1/3 inning keeping the game tied at 2 all, and earned the win as the Yankees scored 3 runs in the bottom of the inning. Santana pitched the 8th and earned the win after the game was called after a rain delay. Judge 1st inning HR, Cabrera rbi double in 2nd, and Soto 3 rbi game winning double in 7th for all the Yankee runs and a sweep of the series. Good weekend in Yankeeland.
Glad the Yankees got the game in today, more so that they won, and they beat one of the best pitchers in baseball. Off day tomorrow.
The Yankees just completed playing 17 games in 17 days home and away. They won 10 and lost 7. Not bad considering they played some pretty good teams over the stretch.
Gerritt Cole did throw off the mound the other day and said everything went well. Hope he doesn't push it too hard, and extra couple of weeks added to his return will not hurt.
NJYANKEE, it was a pretty good run. Keep moving forward.
National election day is six months away.

Next up, Yanks host Astros for three games, Gil, Rodon, Stroman starting for Yankees.
Verlander/Gil matchup tonight. Lets go Yankees.
Should be a good game tonight, even better if the Yankees win.
The Trump trial in NYC is a joke and a slap in the face to legality, honesty, and integrity. Then again, you just have to look at the criminals running it, starting at the White House on down to judge. All left wing radical democrat scum of America.

Interesting, Wells and Cabrera both left handed bats not in lineup?
Gil allows solo HR in first, Yanks answer with a 3 run HR from Verdugo. 3-1 after one inning.
Yanks up 6-1 after 4.
Gil goes six innings allowing just one hit a solo homer in the first inning and leaves game with the Yanks leading 8-1. Two sparkling games in a row for Gil.
Yankees take down the Astros again. 10-3 laugher.
Yankees beat Houston again. A 10-3 team win while hammering Verlander to a pulp. Sweet.
Final. Yankees win 10-3. Gil goes six sparkling innings. 1 run, 1 hit, and earns the win. Marinaccio throws 7th and 8th innings 0 runs 1 hit. Tonkin goes the 9th giving up 2 unearned runs on a Berti throwing error, 1 hit, all when it was meaningless. Everyone contributed with Verdugo igniting the offense and putting it into gear with a 3 run first inning HR and a rbi single in the third knocking in the first 4 Yankee runs. Volpe had a 2 run HR and Stanton a solo HR.
Rodon tomorrow. Last time Rodon followed Gil, he folded like a cheap tent. Gets another chance tomorrow to follow present Yankee 'ace'.
Great news about Burdi. Thanks for the info.
Verdugo had a heck of a great game leading the Yankees to victory last night, offensively and defensively. Hits and catches when it mattered most.
WINS are most important in baseball than all other stats combined in determining the best teams and players in baseball.
Our country is being soiled by the joe-bama/commie MALADY administration. This must come to an end. There is a man who can and has the will to clean up the mess from the joe-bama/commie MALADY administration if he is allowed to. Make it happen people. Support Donald Trump.

Left handed lineup tonight. A win clinches this series. What will we get from Rodon? Will the lineup produce as they did yesterday? Tune in fans.
Get a well-pitched game from Rodon, the bullpen takes over and does well, all the while the Yankee bats produce six or more runs.
Yankees lead 5-1 after three innings. Soto 2 run HR in first, Soto rbi single in second, Judge and Stanton solo HR's in third.
