PLAYOFFS 2019 -- THE SECOND SEASON

Here we are WIN METHOD fans.   Despite a season long rash of debilitating injuries to an overwhelming amount of players, our New York YANKEES have won 103 games, won the American League East Championship and have qualified as one of five best teams in the American League.

The YANKEES will host the Minnesota Twins scheduled for Friday, October 4th, at Yankee Stadium in the first game of a best of five series.   The team that wins any of the series in the post season playoffs will be the team whose players produce when it matters most in each game.  Only the best teams with the best players will win and move on to the next series.  All the teams and players who made the playoffs are the best in baseball.  All the other players in baseball are done and are going home to watch the playoffs on television.  Many of the highest paid players in baseball are going home.  They are going home because they are not the best and are only paid because of their high meaningless individual stats.

Speaking of high paid losers going home and not making the playoffs.  How wonderful did it turn out for the YANKEES by not signing either of the 300 million dollar losers, Manny Machado and Bryce Harper.  If the YANKEES had signed either, the YANKEES would not have made the playoffs and their chances in the future would have been seriously compromised.  Even though it can be done it is hard playing around players who contaminate your team.....remember the afraud years.

Lets hope the YANKEES get it all together, body and soul, and produce the most when it counts and go as far into the playoffs as their talents can take them.  No matter how the playoffs turn out, it has been a great season, with next season, and future seasons looking very promising and bright as the YANKEE newcomers bloom and grow.  So here we are, LETS GO YANKEES.

Cory, no individual subjective valued formula has any value and all are flawed. They only express the opinion of their creator. On the other hand, as all WIN METHOD fans know, wins and winning are fact based. Wins and winning are determined by only what happens on the field and have no convoluted formulas, no personal biases, no subjective opinions, and are 100% real.

World Series game one tonight in Houston.

Deb F said...

okiened, your post was well stated and a 100% accurate depiction of fake formulas as compared to wins and winning. It comes down to made up and fake compared to real and reality.

I see that the number one baseball site in the world is the WIN METHOD blog. The information posted and the comments written by so many is what make it the best and an added bonus is there no signup, no popups, no advertisements, and no one asking for money.

In hindsight I wish Teena/Bronx would have been able to go to the Yankee/Astro games at Yankee Stadium.

Washington beas Houston 5-4 in game one of World Series. Gerrit Cole gets lit up and takes the loss. Does his FA value go down?

Ralph--Yuma said...

No matter who signs Cole and no matter what they pay him and no matter for how long his contract is, he will not be worth it.

Steven Sands said...

With the plethora of young pitching prospects in the Yankee organization, why pay a ridiculous amount of money for several years of someone like Cole who could crash and burn at any time.

Patricia Piper said...

The stat fraud refrain about paying high dollar and long term contracts to losers like Machado, Harper, Trout and others who create financial hoops for their team to jump thru while rarely going to the playoffs and even more rarely advancing very far is easy. They aren't spending their money but love for others to spend theirs.

White Knight said...

When you pay so much for one player, all it does is put you in a hole to try to pay other players and stay within your budget.

Lee King said...

World Series game 2 tonight. Houston down 1 games hosts Washington.

Robert Mandel said...

The Washington Nationals humiliated the Houston Astros last night 12-3 winning game two of the World Series. The Nationals won both games in Houston and now head home with a 2-0 game lead in the best of seven series.

Laura Koehler said...

Houston will need to get their act together if they want to win the WS. Is it possible the Yankees knocked all the oomph out of them.

Alfred Egan said...

So the Astros start two unbeatable pitchers in the first two games of the World Series and they both lose.

bigbadwolf said...

It is very peaceful here since the Yankees were eliminated. Everyone in shock? down in the dumps? disappointed? sad?....we have hot stove 2019-2020, spring training, and the 2020 season coming up. Let go Yankees.

Teena/Bronx said...

Down in dumps.

Evan Donahue said...

I'm just burned out. It was a long hard season with all the injuries.

World Series game 3 tonight in Washington. Houston has their back against the wall and needs a win.

Ivan Noriokos said...

Greinke starts for Houston tonight in WS game three at Washington.

Jack Gordon said...

Astros win game 3, 4-1. Nationals lead series 2 games to `1.

Alex Antonius said...

Flip flop last night. The Nationals had many chances but failed repeatedly when it mattered most, so they lost.

Robert Mandel said...

World Series game four tonight in Washington. Urquidy starting for Houston who needs win to even series.

yankeelover said...

Down goes Corbin?

muchomachoman said...

Chapman won AL reliever of the year award. Just one of the many meaningless awards MLB doles out. Good for players who get them, come contract time.

Phil Jenkins said...

The Astros pummeled the Nationals last night 8-1 and have evened the World Series at two games for each team. Game five scheduled tonight in Washington.

Saul Irving said...

Cole tonight in WS game five. Does Cole get beat twice by Nats or does he redeem himself and enhance is free agent value?

Mark Wagoner said...

If Cole doesn't pitch well tonight his value should drop significantly in my opinion. If he pitches a winning gem, he will prove his value, again in my opinion. But 30 mil a year?

YankeeMike said...

The Astros have awakened after they discovered the AAAA Nationals weren't going play dead and hand them the WS title.

Carl Hooks said...

I think the Nationals party is over as they get swept at home.

Norm Jackson said...

Scherzer unable to pitch tonight for Washington. Has a neck, shoulder, upper back muscle injury. Ross starting against Houston's Cole.

Logan/Kentucky said...

If the Nationals win tonight it would be a miracle.

Cory said...

So much for the very false idea of home field advantage. There is no advantage, both teams always get 27 outs to state their case. The only difference of any baseball park are the dimensions of the outfield wall from the right field foul line to the left field foul line. Both teams in any game played play on the same field.
Home field advantage is just another stat fraud lie and distortion.

Deb F said...

There was a human disgrace in Washington DC tonight as the National fans chanted "lock him up" as a picture of President Trump was displayed on the stadium jumbotron video screen. The National fans are getting what they deserve in watching their aaaa team lose every game at their stadium as they lose to the superior league Houston Astros. A pox on everyone of their fans who participated in the chant and pox on everyone of them for the rest of their lives.

Domingo Orengo said...

Shame on the National fans swamp dwellers. Off day today. World Series ends tomorrow in Houston.

Yankeefan2 said...

Three and a half months and spring training camps will be on the cusp of opening.

Walt Belamy said...

With Louie Louie back for 2020 the Yankee pitching staff is solid. Top four, Louie Louie, German, Tanaka, Paxton. There will be a spring training battle for the fifth spot. Really do not need to waste a fortune on a guy like Cole who may crash and burn very early in a long term contract. His arm has a lot of mileage on it and in my view is not worth the dollar risk.

yankeeclipper said...

Yankee pitching coach Larry Rothschild is no longer Yankee pitching coach. Yankees pitchers have won over 200 games these past two seasons. Lets see how the new guy, whomever it may be, improves on that.

Lou Lis said...

Verlander starts for Astros tomorrow in game six of WS. Astros will win WS tomorrow and the 2019 baseball season will come to an end.

Diane Stahl said...

What the Washington Nationals fans did last night was very offensive to me. I hope a Washington team never makes it to a World Series ever again. The fans were a disgrace.

reinvaldez said...

Diane Stahl, Hear hear.

Tommy Lee said...

Washington fans made fools of themselves.

Zack Norris said...

Verlander starts tonight for Houston in Houston.

Victor Bruno said...

If Rothschild wants to continue on as a pitching coach, whichever team signs him will get a gem.

Kurt Holmes said...

The 'fat lady' has arrived in Houston and she is preparing to sing.

NJYANKEE said...

I hope the Yankees don't go stupid and sign Cole. He is not all that. And he may just had his career year.

coryankee said...

Washington defeated Houston last night 7-2 and has evened the World Series at three games each. The seventh and final deciding game will be played tonight in Houston and the MLB season will end with the best team and best players winning when it matters most.

Scherzer for Nationals and Greinke for Astros tonight. Winner take all game.

Game time and then it will be hot stove time for three months.

jimbo said...

Scoreless after one inning. No threats.

jimbo said...

Gurriel HR gives Houston 1-0 lead after 2, but Houston fails to score 3 times with runners in scoring position.

jimbo said...

Houston fails 2 times in 3rd inning with runners in scoring position. Now 0-5 when it mattered most. Still lead 1-0 after 3.

YankeeMike said...

Will the early failures come back to haunt the Astros?

jimbo said...

Houston fails one more time in 4th when it matters most, now 0-6 thru 4 innings, yet lead 1-0.

jimbo said...

Washington gets their first opportunity when it counts in the 5th and fails to produce, 0-1.
Houston's Correa with and RBI single with 2 outs when it counts for a 2-0 lead. Next batter K's for final out. Now 1-8 when it counts, but lead 2-0 after 5.

Yanks23245 said...

Scherzer out after five down 2-0. Corbin in for the sixth.

jimbo said...

Six complete, 2-0 Astros.

Sammybigdog said...

Houston leads 2-0 thru six.

jimbo said...

Rendon HR in 7th makes it 2-1 Astros as Greinke allows first run of game for Nationals. Greinke comes out of game as he walks next batter. Harris in.

jimbo said...

Harris gives up HR to first batter he faces putting Washington up 3-2.

YankeeMike said...

Astros failures when it counts has come back on them. Game isn't over yet.

reinvaldez said...

Osuna now in for Houston.

jimbo said...

After taking 3-2 lead Nationals fail twice when it matters in 7th but lead 3-2 with Astros coming to bat. Washington now 0-3 and Houston 1-8 when it counts.

jimbo said...

Astros don't score in 7th. Trail 3-2.

Walt Belamy said...

I am a Yankee fan, but this has been a great game to watch. And thank you jimbo for you commentary, it should be a great primer for new fans and the stat frauds if they want to learn WIN METHOD baseball.

Jill Byrnes said...

Yes, one heck of a game. Loving it. Wish it was the Yankees.

jimbo said...

Soto 2 out RBI single when it matters most for a 4-2 Washington lead in 8th.

jimbo said...

Washington gets another chance in 8th when it counts but fail. Nats now 3-5 when it mattered.
Houston 1-8.

jimbo said...

Houston goes down 1,2,3 in 8th. One more chance.

jimbo said...

Nationals load bases in 9th with one out, get another chance when it matters most. A 2 RBI single and it's 6-2. Nats now 4-6 when it mattered. Next batter pops up and fails for 2nd out. Now 4-7. Next batter flies out to end inning. Nats finish game going 4-8 when it counted and lead 6-2 as Astro come up needing 4 runs or more.

jimbo said...

Nationals close Hudson on for the 9th. One out. Two out. Three out. The Washington Nationals are the best team and players in baseball. They earned it and deserve it.

Producing when it counts is the WIN METHOD and the WIN METHOD is the best tool in baseball.

Steve said...

The Nationals more than likely became the best team in baseball when they did not resign Bryce Harper for multi millions and multi years and then signing Adam Eaton to take his place in right field and help lead his team to the playoffs, and through each round of the playoffs to become the World Champions.

NJYANKEE said...

Congratulations Nationals.

bigbadwolf said...

Great way to end the baseball season. A great game to end a great season. A great job by jimbo defining 'when it matters', because when it matters defines the best players.

Pierre Jadot said...

Neither won a home game. Home field is meaningless.

Cal Fuerst said...

Great job by the Washington National baseball team. Very impressed with many of the teams players.

Erica Johnston said...

Now we can say 'wait until next year'.

Cory said...

First time ever that the World Series winning team won all their games on the road on their opponents home field.

White Knight said...

Again, so much for the bologna (baloney for you stat frauds) of home field advantage.

yankeedoodledandy said...

jimbo, you did a fine job chronicling the 7th game of the WS....showing how teams win or lose by producing or failing to produce when it matters most. People who only look at individual stats have no perspective of what really matters in each game and why the real best players determine who wins when it matters most. Adam Eaton over Bryce Harper and he costs a bundle less.

"How about that.' A quote from long ago Yankee all time great announcer Mel Allen.

The Yankees have hired Eric Cressey, a well-known and highly sought after performance coach, to oversee their training and strength-and-conditioning departments, sources told The Athletic. As part of an overhaul that will include new hires by Cressey, the Yankees will also transition longtime athletic trainer Steve Donohue to a status akin to trainer emeritus, though it’s expected he will remain involved with the club.

The changes the Yankees have made and will make to their training and strength-and-conditioning programs reflect a move toward the contemporary line of thought on player performance. They’ve made similar transitions elsewhere in the organization this winter, primarily throughout their pitching programs.

Cressey, who runs Cressey Sports Performance, works closely with Max Scherzer and Corey Kluber. His approach to player performance reflects a rapidly changing philosophy throughout the sport that emphasizes kinesiology and biomechanics.
