WIN METHOD --- 2019 SEASON --- 162 GAMES TO THE DIVISION CROWN

Winter is over, the hot stove is off.  Spring training games are finished, now the season begins.  Over the next 162 games the ten best teams will go on to the playoffs.  This is the time when producing when it counts matters most and over the next 162 games the best players in the game will go to the playoffs.  Wins and winning is all that matters and only wins and winning will get the best players and the best teams to the playoffs.

The NEW YORK YANKEES completed a banner off season obtaining several players who will play for the team to win and who know that winning as a team and doing all the little things that can help the team win is what matters most in the end.  Paxton, Happ, Britton, Tulowitzki, Lemahieu, Voit, and others know that only wins, and not individual stats, are what gets a team to the playoffs.  The YANKEE hierarchy was brilliant by not signing either Manny Machado or Bryce Harper to ten and thirteen year contracts for the amount of money each is getting that neither player is worth, and would have crippled the YANKEES for the decade ahead.   Look for the YANKEES to win more World Series than the Padres and Phillies combined over the next decade.

With the blossoming of the YANKEES own core of youngsters who have bloomed and are now growing in the major leagues at the nucleus of this 2019 team, the YANKEES are set to recapture the division title in the American League East.  The YANKEES will start this season with a handful of key players on the disabled list (DL), however the YANKEES as every other team will have to play the hand they are dealt and overcome obstacles put in front of them.  Yes, the YANKEES can and the YANKEES will.

What is most promising is the future ahead.  The YANKEES have been able to obtain many WIN METHOD youngsters with a bright future and an unlimited ceiling.  Keep an eye out for Estevan Florial who has the tools to be the YANKEE center fielder of the future.   There are also several starting pitchers in the minors that will step forward to be major league impact starters for the YANKEES.

Thank you, to all the readers and posters of the WIN METHOD blog.  You all have contributed to this blog surpassing 548 million views and you all have made this baseball blog the best in the world.
The season starts in a couple of days and a great season it will be for the YANKEES.  Thank you all again for you support, your comments, and your opinions.  All of which are posted with intelligence and wisdom far beyond any other site, blog, or forum in existence.    LETS GO YANKEES.

The 2019 season in ten game segments.

Games:

1 - 10 5-5

5-5 is marching in place and will not get the team to the playoffs. However the Yankees are not playing with anywhere near their full team.

Loaisiga tonight with an 8PM starting time. A big test for the youngster.

NJYANKEE said...

Last nights game was a fine example of what WIN METHOD and Deb F were talking about in their posts a day or so ago. All players contributions in any given game determine which team wins and which team loses. The Yankees got a great pitched game from their starter (Tanaka) last night. Six innings one run. Houston got a well pitched game from their starter (Verlander). Six innings three runs. The Yankees could easily have had a fourth run but yet another epic fail by Sanchez with men on first and third with one out and he pops up and he doesn't get the fourth run in. This the day after he hits three home runs, pretty meaningless ones, in a 15-3 rout of the Orioles. Production when it matters determines who wins not production when it doesn't matter in a rout. Last nights game then comes down to the last three innings and each teams bullpen. Houston's pen goes three innings and allows nothing giving their team a chance to come back. The Yankee bullpen fails miserably with Britton giving up two runs and Houston ties the game. The Ottavino goes one inning and gives up the winning run and the Yankees lose 4-3.
Games come down to producing when it counts and not how much and or how many any individual attains for himself.

Tony Sevens said...

Why are players like Britton and Paxton touted as "winning" players and shrewd moves in line with Win Method thinking when neither helped their teams win? Seattle and Baltimore did not win despite having these players for many years.

Vince/Brooklyn said...

Yes we lost last night, but I believe we showed the world we can play with anyone. There are many games yet to be played.

Tommy Lee said...

I wonder how many stat frauds are killing Boone for taking Tanaka out of the game last night? Any move a manager makes turns out good or bad by the results the players on the field attain. The manager does not play in the game. If Britton and Ottavino do what they are paid to do, the Yankees win and no one will say a word about the manager.

Nick Polito said...

Last nights loss hurt. More pressure on Loaisiga tonight which he does not need. Lets hope for the best.

Tony Stevens, Common sense. Players are on teams because they have little to no choice. If they are drafted by MLB teams (to make things easy) each team has one pick in each round. that means 30 players are drafted in each round of the draft. A player doesn't have to sign with the team that drafted him, but if he doesn't, if I am not mistaken he has to sit out a year and can then enter the draft again. Don't hold me to that. I could be wrong. Latin American players can be offered contracts by teams, but each team only has so much money they can spend. My point being players can be loved, liked, or interested in by WIN METHOD, and the Yankees have no chance in obtaining them. They may then try to obtain them down the road by the Rule 5 draft, trade, free agency. That is how a WIN METHOD who is on a poorer team and still be WIN METHOD.

Diane Stahl said...

Bad news.

Yankees right-hander Luis Severino will be shut down and not throw a baseball for six weeks due to a Grade 2 lat strain, the team announced just before Tuesday night's game against the Astros.

The injury is separate from the issue Severino reported during Spring Training, when he underwent an MRI exam on his right shoulder.

Hugh Johanson said...

What kind of doctors are the Yankees using. Why didn't they find the lat strain in their original diagnosis. Did they see one thing and look for nothing else. I would think they should be sued for incompetence.

candycane said...

Yanks up 3-2 after 6.

jimbo said...

Yankee bullpen blows second game in a row. Leading by 1 after 6 bullpen gives up 4 runs while Astros put Yankees down with nothing over the last 3 innings. Final 6-3 loss.

Gus Papa said...

I don't see any intensity or urgency with the bullpen pitchers. Seems like they are afraid to throw the ball over the plate and are pitching from behind.

Xavier Young said...

Paxton gets the start tonight and will try to prevent the Yankees from getting swept. What he does won't make any difference if the bullpen can't support him. I don't expect nine shutout innings from him.

Steve said...

Producing when it counts determines the outcome of games. The Yankee produced when it counted in both Astro games for the first six innings. Yankee pitchers out pitched the Astro pitchers, the Yankee hitters out hit the Astro hitters scoring more runs in the first six innings of each game. However, baseball games are nine innings and in the last three innings of each game the Astro pitcher and hitters produced far more than the Yankees at a very high rate and were able to overcome the deficit from the first six innings. Result, the Astros won both games by producing when it mattered most. There you have the WIN METHOD in a nutshell. Now keep in mind the season is 162 games, and only at the end of the 162 games we will know who are the best teams with the best players. There will be peaks and valleys for all teams over the course of the season, but in the end the best rise to the top. And every player will contribute to their teams results.

Randy Holt said...

It would have been nice to have won one of the first two games of this series and playing to win the series, but alas we are playing not to get swept.

HerecomestheJudge said...

I don't feel that bad about the sweep. We could have won at least two of the games and would have beaten their two best pitchers if out bullpen didn't fail so miserably. Lets look forward.

Cory said...

That is why individual players don't win games. Teams win games with the contribution of all players and when they win those players are the best.

Pedro,Seattle said...

I've been very happy with Clint Frazier this past week. He has trended to making solid contact at the plate and does not seem lost like thru spring training. Fielding still is nothing to write home about.

Wilsonsway said...

I can only hope that Boone does have one on ones with players who are not producing as they are expected. There should be no way he can be happy with the play he is getting from so many guys.

Yanks23245 said...

LeMahieu is the best player the Yankees have right now. Makes consistent solid contact. Hits the ball to all fields, doesn't overswing, and doesn't swing for home runs like a madman.

Yankeeforever said...

As of now the only Yankee pitcher listed for this weekend is CC for Saturday.

Carl Hooks said...

The Yankees have a two game series with the sux on Tue and Wed, Boone may be trying to set up who start those two games. Tanaka and Paxton?

Lou Moscowitz said...

Everyone on this team needs to get their act together, get their head in the game, and stop swinging for the fences all the time.

John Hartnett said...

WIN METHOD fans, remember, the Yankees will overcome all roadblocks and obstacles thrown before them. Confidence, it is a long season.

Domenic said...

Nine game homestand, three with the White Sox, two with the sux, four with the Royals. 6-3 would be great. Anything worse than 5-4 would not be good.

YankeeMike said...

The Houston Astros swept us. They hit a few home runs, but most of their runs were scored via walks, singles, doubles, and triples. Two, three, and four batters producing when it counts to help their team win. A walk, stolen base and single will score a run, but not may be as flashy as a home run. The run scored is equal however. So the Yankees need to cut the crapola and play baseball, winning baseball, WIN METHOD baseball.

Vince/Brooklyn, In today's world far too many players are playing for themselves and they may say they care about winning, but in reality they don't. Case in point, and free agent usually pick any team he wants to play for. He may have to take less dollars, but few do.

Greg Bird is making it easy for the Yankees as he K's with the bases loaded and one out, not getting the run in for third. He will be sent to AAA. LeMahieu saves the day with a line single to right field for 2 runs and a 2-1 lead.

yankeedoodledandy said...

Sanchez not in lineup because he is on the DL with a mild calf strain. Another player goes down, but at least we have Romine who will get hits and not swing like a banshee every at bat.

German tonight and if he keeps developing as he has, builds confidence in his arsenal while throwing strikes and challenging hitters, he could become a very high calibre top of the rotation starter for the Yankees.

coryankee said...

Last night's game demonstrated eloquently exactly what the WIN METHOD is all about. Happ, the starter pitches 6 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for a quality start. Three relievers, Kahnle, Ottavino, Chapman, pitch 2 2/3 innings allowing 0 runs earning a hold and a save. Then there is the inning when it mattered most, down 3-1 Frazier a hit, Tauchman a walk, Romine a walk, bases loaded one out Gardner up, with a 0 ball 2 strike count Gardner hits a grand slam home run into the right centerfield bleachers for a 5-3 Yankee lead and eventually the win. Everyone contributes to a win. The biggest hit of the game by Gardner, but his HR means little without the three guys getting oun base before him. WIN METHOD rules.

The stat frauds must be going berserker than normal for them, Gardner, Frazier, Tauchman batting 3,4,5.

Hope Paxton doesn't allow many runs, or better yet, any runs.

Wonder what the oddsmakers would have the Yankees at making the playoffs if they knew this would be the lineup before the start of the season.

Glen Corbet said...

Every time I see a post about hitting the bottom, we keep heading lower.

Sanchez will be first back in 2 or 3 days. Then Stanton and Tulowitzki in another week or so.
No word on Judge yet.

bigbadwolf said...

Bad news. Judge injury pretty significant, on DL, no timetable on his return.

Stan the Man said...

Paxton does it, Yankee lineup does it, and Frazier 3 run HR ices it. 6-0 Yankees after six.

Yankeeforever said...

Green and Ottavino give everything away and more allowing six runs without an out in the eighth putting the Yankees down 6-5 in the eighth. HORRENDOUS effort from both.

Felix Lopez said...

Romine second 2 out RBI single of game tie it at 6 after 8.

Tony Gigante said...

Romine, the best backup catcher in baseball wins it with RBI single in 10th.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 7-6 in 10. A game that was a laugher, that turned into a nightmare, finishes as a win with Austin Romine the hero, tying and then winning the game with 8th and 10th inning RBI singles.

Lon Klick said...

Stan the Man, I know you meant well and I probably would have agreed with you at the time, but please don't post a win before the game is over.

Ursala Pei said...

I'm glad the Yanks came back, it would have been a really sad loss. Green and Ottavino better get their act together. Especially Ottavio. He gets paid far to much for what he is doing.

Yankees head to California for their first west coast road trip. Play four games against the Angels M,T,W,H nights. Only Happ and German named for the first two games so far.

Hobbs said...

Paying attention to the Yankee woes right now and how they are trying to hang tough, baseball fans are getting a great lesson in the WIN METHOD, and just what it takes for teams to win games. The importance of all players, the one who fail and the ones who produce over the course of a full season. The WIN METHOD shows individual stats to be the sham they are, again and again.

Jack Gordon said...

We are playing very short handed and we go west to play 9 games against 3 teams that are lying in wait to trounce the big bad Yankees. 5-4 would be wonderful. Heck, I could live with 4-5.

Linda Pardo said...

It is a little after 5am in California and all the Yankees should be sound asleep. Hope Happ keeps us in the game and we get another win.

Jeb Hough said...

The Yankees just have to keep grinding and win games any way they can. Loved Romines three RBIs yesterday, everyone a big hit when it counted.

yankeedoodledandy said...

Lets go Yankees. Make the best of this road trip. We need wins.

No long home runs can be a good thing for a team. There is nothing wrong with home runs, but there is plenty wrong with the fools who try to track velocity, launch angle, and hang time. All meaningless garbage consumed by garbage eaters, aka stat frauds.

Lets go Yankees.

J.A. Happ LHP

NYY Lineup

B Gardner (L) CF
L Voit (R) 1B
G Torres (R) SS
C Frazier (R) LF
M Tauchman (L) RF
M Ford (L) DH
G Urshela (R) 3B
K Higashioka (R) C
T Wade (L) 2B

Four left handed bats in lineup tonight.

Phil Jenkins said...

If our starters keep us in the game we can win any game even with our backup lineup.

Sal Mineo said...

Tonight will turn into morning here in the east while the games plays out. A win will not hurt those of us watching tonight.

candycane said...

2-2 after 4.

Yanks23245 said...

Still 2-2 after 7. Happ has done his job for 7 innings. Lets get a couple of runs.

Kojak said...

Onto extra innings tied at 2.

will-i-am said...

11 innings in the books. Still 2-2. Come on guys.

Sal Mineo said...

Yankees score 1 in 12th, but Chapman blows save allowing a run. 3-3 and going to the 13th.

Sal Mineo said...

Yankees score 1 in 14th for a 4-3 win.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 4-3 in 14. A win is a win.

Gary Shrieber said...

It looks like it was a grinding win last night. Chapman blew a save in the 12th. Urshela came up big offensively and defensively. A nice WIN METHOD win where so many contributed.

RLA said...

German, CC, Tanaka penned in for next three games. Happ kept us alive with seven innings making one really bad pitch costing him a 2 run HR, the only runs he gave up. The worst of the relievers was Chapman blowing a save in the 12th and adding 2 more innings to the game.

Jill Byrnes said...

Frazier rolled his ankle late in the game last night. Stayed in game with ankle taped over sock and pants. Says he will play tonight. I hope so.

Eddie OConnor said...

A good start to the road trip. A win tonight would be great. Hope each starter keeps us in the game and gives us a chance to win.

Hobbs said...

My take on a fake stat WAR. WAR is a fake statistic that is overused in my opinion. I just dont think it should be used in discussions. Basically, man made stats and formulas can be created to tell you anything you want them to. That makes them fake.

Cory said...

Hobbs.....The old standard stats are always fact based. Anytime someone tries to create something with numbers they can manipulate, that formula is instantly fraudulent, and therefor meaningless.

Domingo German RHP

NYY Lineup

D LeMahieu (R) 3B
L Voit (R) DH
B Gardner (L) CF
G Torres (R) SS
M Tauchman (L) RF
M Ford (L) 1B
A Romine (R) C
T Estrada (R) 2B
T Wade (L) LF

Frazier not in lineup. Estrada at 2B with Wase in LF. Now the backups are going down and the backups backups are getting action.

Yankeefan2 said...

Knowing Boone, I believe it is his normal thought process. Protect the player for a game. He still would be available if needed however.

Jen Vitter said...

German to throw a gem and we get another win. Everyone contributes. Lets go Yankees.
