The conclusion to the regular 162 game 2018 season is coming fast. Ten teams will make the playoffs and the other twenty teams will conclude their season, go home, and watch the ten best teams in Major League Baseball play in the playoffs and try to win their way to the World Series.
The ten teams that reach the playoffs will do so by achieving WINS, with each division winner making the playoffs and then the next two teams in each league who have the most WINS but who did not win any division going to the playoffs. Five teams in each league. The three division winners and the next two teams with the most wins in the league as wild cards.
With just about fifty games to be played in the regular season it appears the YANKEES will not win their division and will have to settle for a wild card position as they did last season. Last season the YANKEES rode their playoff spot to within one game (one more WIN) of reaching the World Series.
Nothing but wins and winning determines the best players and teams, no other stat of any kind for hitters or pitchers make any difference. Who each team plays in the playoffs are only determined by WINS. And advancing each round are only determined by WINS. Nothing else matters, but WINS.
I would like to mention my observations on this 2018 YANKEE team so far this season. I will not go into injuries because every team has injuries to varying degrees and I find that injuries are part of the game, a part that every team must deal with and overcome to be the best. The aspect I will talk about is the very distinct lack of hustle, urgency, and even desire I have seen from some players and management. Jogging down to first base on grounders, not running hard on fly balls and or popups is unacceptable at anytime within the confines of other runners on base. Hitting a fly ball that you think is going over the fence and would be a home run and jogging down the line only to watch the ball bounce between fielders or off the wall and instead of maybe getting a triple settling for a double. Any time these events occur and are not addressed by the manager and they continue time and time again a distinct lack of leadership and control is evident. This attitude and their acceptance must be corrected immediately by all involved. I have seen and heard from many fans who see what is happening and have voiced their dismay in this blog over and over. I have been around baseball for sixty years and have never seen this from a YANKEE team. WIN METHOD fans deserve better as all YANKEE fans should.
LETS GO YANKEES !!!

«Oldest ‹Older 801 – 914 of 914The Yankees goe 2 hits in the first inning and only 1 over the next five innings. Wake up guys, wake the heck up.
Yankees trail 6-3 after 8 and are playing with absolutely no sense of urgency and without a care in the world. That attitude stems from an incompetent manager. This team is winning games because of the vast amount of talent on the team and doing it without direction from their manager. Mark my words, the Yankees under Boone's leadership will be one and done in this seasons playoffs no matter where they are played. It hurts me to write these words because I have been a Yankee fan since the 40's and I have never seen anything like this form such a talented Yankee team. Boone is like the 'what me worry' guy.
Final Yankees lose 6-3. Not good.
William Mensom, I know you have known WIN METHOD a very long time and I can see the events of this season are upsetting to you as they are to many Yankee fans. I agree, there seems to be no fire in the belly of the Yankee players and team in general. I wonder if the loss of Girardi has had something to do with what is going on. I bet WIN METHOD is not happy and I wonder what his decision will be concerning the WIN METHOD with the Yankees.
We scored 3 give me runs in the first and did absolutely nothing the rest of the game. We just played the worst team in baseball a three game series at home and although we won 2 of the 3, we were outplayed, out hustled, out desired, and out managed every step of the way. This Yankee team should be embarrassed as should Boone.
It would not surprise me to see the Yankees mail this last week of the season in now that a playoff spot has been secured. Clearly Boone has no sense of urgency about winning home field against the A’s and it’s pretty apparent that the Yankees as a team, do not either. Very disappointing to say the least.
Didi wasn't in today because he tore cartilage in his wrists sliding into home scoring the winning run yesterday. Worst is he is likely out for the season.
Here is an interesting fact. There are presently 29 managers in MLB better than Aaron Boone right now.
We will need all the help we can get from the A's opponents this last week of the season to be able to back into the wild card home field advantage.
Deb F, and a whole bunch of minor league managers.
Power back for us finally. We had minor water at our house, but everyone is OK. Thank
God for President Trump and all the preparation from all the government agencies and volunteers. Glad we are in the playoffs albeit via the wild card. Just hope for the best and a fire is lit.
Sharon/NC, Glad to hear from you and that you made it through Flo.
Thanks Patricia. A lot of people got wiped out and others heavily flooded. We were lucky.
Being incommunicado for this past 10 days, maybe I have a different perspective on the Yankee fortunes and possible future for the playoffs. One game playoff home or away, win or go home.
The Yanks lose, maybe you guys are correct in your views. If the Yanks win, and it is a 50/50 chance, they go to Boston and play the sux. The Yanks seem to play better against the better teams and sux have the best record. I like coming in the underdog. The Yanks can beat the sux and go on from there. That alone will make the season a success no more what happens after that. Hopefully Boone won't have any of the dregs on the roster. If he does, then I think you guys mat be right.
The Yankees have not announced any starting pitchers yet for tonight nor the Tampa series. The Rays may be the best team not in the playoffs and the Yankees have not played well against the Rays this season.
I think the bosux magical season is ending. What goes up must come down and nothing would be more fitting than for the Yankees to be the team who brings them down. Think positive WIN METHOD fans.
Never give up. When you give up you lose all character. The Twins and O's both beat playoff teams yesterday who were both playing for something and lost.
Can we take 3 of 4 from the Rays?
Monday 9/24 7:10pm
Jonathan Holder (R)
@ Rays - Diego Castillo (R)
1. Andrew McCutchen (R) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Luke Voit (R) 1B
6. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
7. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
8. Gary Sanchez (R) C
9. Adeiny Hechavarria (R) SS
Holder is starting and Hechavarria is SS.
Looks like it might be a bullpen game for the Yankees.
I don't know if it's an advantage or not, but we do play games before the A's do and wins give the A's no chance to gain on us. Wins are always the determining factor, nothing else matters. Sadly, the stat frauds are too stupid to realize this.
Well the Yankees have an army of arms on the extended roster. Lets put some pressure on them.
Norm Jackson, the Rays have the edge on us in bullpen games.
If we play the Rays the way we played the Orioles we will be in trouble.
2nd and 3rd with 2 outs and meatball strikes out swinging at a pitch low and outside bouncing in the batters box. But Boone is telling the world that meatball with his .180 BA will be the starting catcher in the wild card game.
0-0 after 2.
1-1 after 4.
Gray in and gives up a run to tie game aided by meatball's passed ball. I guess Boone wants to give meatball all the chances he can to practice his passed ball skills.
Yanks up 3-1 after 6.
meatball with another passed ball in 6th but Robertson pitches out of trouble with a great catch from Gardner to end the inning.
meatball has come to bat all four times so far tonight with men on base and every time he ended the inning with a hapless out and nothing hit hard. He only hit the ball on two of the outs the other two he K'd.
Yanks up 4-1 after 8.
Final, Yankees win 4-1. ONE
Yankees used 8 pitchers and they only gave up 1 run and 2 hits for the entire game. Grayskies was the only Yankee pitcher who allowed the 1 run and 2 hits. He and meatball make one heck of a battery. The battery of despair.
Louie Louie starting tonight. We need to win.
Last week of the season and wins are still the only stat that matters for several playoff and prospective playoff teams.
Based on his performance this season and what was expected of him I would have to think Gary Sanchez (meatball) is one of the most overrated players in baseball. However he does need to get another season to prove himself one way or the other.
Tuesday 9/25 7:10pm
Luis Severino (R)
@ Rays - Jake Faria (R)
1. Andrew McCutchen (R) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Luke Voit (R) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Neil Walker (S) 2B
6. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
7. Gleyber Torres (R) SS
8. Gary Sanchez (R) C
9. Brett Gardner (L) CF
Why isn't Romine starting..oh, Sanchez is the anointed one. He's do to get a hit any at bat now. Otherwise, a solid lineup.
We score and we pitch well, we win. That's all it takes.
It looks like several of the idols of the stat frauds couldn't help lead their team to the playoffs. They will now be able to watch the proven on the field real world truly great players play in the playoffs.
meatball stretches his futility streak. For the fifth consecutive at bat he comes up with a man on, this one on 2b, and makes the final out of the inning with foul popup to first baseman.
0-0 after 2.
meatball breaks his snied. Yanks bat around in 4th and meatball comes up with 2 men on and 2 men out and hit HR giving Yanks 7-0 lead.
Yanks up 7-2 after 4.
Yanks up 8-2 after 6.
Yanks up 8-2 after 8.
Final, Yankees win 9-2. TWO
WINS the magic elixir. WINS determine the best players and the best teams.
Tanaka goes tonight and Sabathia listed for tomorrow. Just five more games left in the season.
meatball came up with a big hit yesterday and that is good, BUT it came after the Yankees scored four runs in the inning and the Rays were on their third pitcher of the inning. I just hope he gets his act together and produces when it counts in the wild card game and beyond.
Wednesday 9/26 7:10pm
Masahiro Tanaka (R)
@ Rays - Ryne Stanek (R)
1. Andrew McCutchen (R) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) DH
3. Luke Voit (R) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
5. Neil Walker (S) 2B
6. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
7. Gary Sanchez (R) C
8. Adeiny Hechavarria (R) SS
9. Brett Gardner (L) CF
Torres out again after being pulled from the lineup before last nights game.
Tanaka had an awful outing last time out. Hope he returns to winning form tonight.
Louie Louie was not that dominant last night but did grind out the win. A seven run inning from your team doesn't hurt, but he only gave up two runs before turning the game over to the bullpen who continued to put up shutout innings.
We still need wins to earn home field for the wild card game. And we need for our injured to hopefully get back for the post season.
Lets go Yankees.
Walker 3 run HR in first for a 3-0 lead.
Tanaka stinks again tonight. After being staked to 3 runs he gives all 3 back. 3-3 after one.
Yankees trail 4-3 after three as Tanaka continues to get hit hard.
Yanks trail 4-3 after five. Tanaka only goes four woeful innings.
Yanks down 4-3 after 7. Two more chances.
Robertson in for the 8th and gives up four runs making chance of Yankee comeback in 9th that much harder if at all. Down 8-3. Three run HR in 1st and then nothing for the next seven innings.
Yankees score four in 9th and lose 8-7.
Final Yankees lose 8-7.
Onus tonight on just two guys who each gave up four runs, Tanaka and Robertson. Do not be surprised if Robertson in not a Yankee next season. Just too many bad outings from him this season.
CC this afternoon and we still need wins. If the Yankees win they take this series, if they lose they march in place again. The good news is Hicks is fine and Didi may be close to a return to the lineup.
Thursday 9/27 1:10pm
CC Sabathia (L)
@ Rays - Jaime Schultz (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Luke Voit (R) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) LF
5. Neil Walker (S) 3B
6. Miguel Andujar (R) DH
7. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Adeiny Hechavarria (R) SS
Top catcher in lineup today. We need to win.
Like it or not, accept it or not, this is a big game for the Yankees and CC. Not an end all game, but a big game.
Andujar first inning three run home run puts Yankees up 4-0.
Yankees hold 4-0 lead after three innings.
7-0 Yankees after five.
A laugher, 11-0 Yankees in the 6th.
Yanks up 11-1 thru 8. CC retaliation is just what this team needed. We play and win as a team. Only wins matter. We are going to the playoffs. Yes we can.
Final Yankees win 12-1. ONE
On to Boston. Then on to the wild card game at the Stadium.
Happ, Lynn, and Louie Louie tentative starters for final three games in Boston.
Like Stanton hitting two HRs today. Just about the right time to get hot for 2 or 3 more weeks.
meatball was not missed today. Why would any team miss an interstate hitter and the worst defensive player at his position.
Luke Voit has turned into a gold mine. Wow!
Happ starting tomorrow puts him in line to start the wild card game.
We still need one more win or one more A's loss for home field in the wild card.
We need 2 of 3 in Boston for a 100 win season. Just a meaningless number because we already made the playoffs with a lower number of wins. But wins are the only stat that matters.
As a proud WIN METHOD fan, I am very pleased to see the WIN METHOD has helped lead the 2018 Yankees to another winning season and to the playoffs again. Congratulations.
For those who come to this site, and either read and/or post in this blog, you are the most knowledgeable baseball fans in the world.
Friday 9/28 7:10pm
J.A. Happ (L)
@ Red Sox - Brian Johnson (L)
1. Andrew McCutchen (R) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Luke Voit (R) 1B
6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
8. Gary Sanchez (R) C
9. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
Didi and Hicks both in the lineup.
Lets have a fun weekend.
0-0 after 2.
Yankees put up a 6 spot in 4th, a very nice crooked number, for an 8-0 lead.
Yanks up 8-0 after 4.
Happ goes six but gives up grand slam with 2 outs in the 6th. Up 8-4.
Yanks up 8-4 after 6.
Leading 11-4 in the eighth I assume it is safe to say the wild card game will be played at Yankee Stadium and is scheduled for Wednesday night.
Yanks up 11-5 after 8.
Betances has a very rocky 8th inning giving up a run and leaving the bases loaded with the final out a screaming line drive that Torres snares at second as the ball headed to right field. 11-5 Yankees.
Britton with a rotten 9th, not helped by a Gregorius error but gets last out with the bags full. 11-6 win.
Final Yankees win 11-6. TWO
Now Boone has two meaningless games to get his ducks in a row for the wild card game.
1-- 10 5-5
11-- 20 6-4 = 11-9
21-- 30 9-1 = 20-10
31-- 40 8-2 = 28-12
41-- 50 5-5 = 33-17
51-- 60 9-1 = 42-18
61-- 70 6-4 = 48-22
71-- 80 5-5 = 53-27
81-- 90 6-4 = 59-31
91--100 5-5 = 64-36
101-110 4-6 = 68-42
111-120 7-3 = 75-45
121-130 8-2 = 83-47
131-140 4-6 = 87-53
141-150 5-5 = 92-58
151-160 7-3 = 99-61
The Yankees finished the last 10 game set strong at 7-3, made the playoffs, and will host the wild card game this Wednesday at home in Yankee Stadium against the Oakland Athletics.
One more home run by the Yankees over the next two meaningless games and the team will set a new single season home run record by a team in MLB. Yes, another meaningless record. But the Yankees could be the team that owns it.
Lynn starts today's game.
Saturday 9/29 1:05pm
Domingo German (R)
@ Red Sox - Nathan Eovaldi (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Andrew McCutchen (R) RF
3. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
6. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
7. Greg Bird (L) 1B
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
German starting instead of Lynn? Bird in for Voit. Romine for Sanchez.
Yankees get one run in first.
Yankees lead 7-2 after 6.
Kahnle with a rough inning loading the bases with no outs but gets out of it giving up just one run.....Yanks 8-3 after 8.
After Holder gives up 2 in the 9th, Chapman brought in for a save try and he earns it. Yankees win 8-5.
Final Yankees win 8-5. TWO
Yankees get 100th win.
Andujar breaks Joe DiMaggio's Yankee doubles record.
Yankees now the lone team in baseball history with the most home runs by a team in a season.
One more game in the regular season with Louie Louie listed as starter. Subject to change as we found out today.
Sorry, I erred, it should be,
Final Yankees win 8-5. THREE.
Just hope no one gets hurt tomorrow. Who will be on the wild card roster?
Tomorrows season final game is at 3PM. Louie Louie listed starter.
Sunday 9/30 3:05pm
Luis Cessa (R)
@ Red Sox - Rick Porcello (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
4. Miguel Andujar (R) DH
5. Luke Voit (R) 1B
6. Gary Sanchez (R) C
7. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
8. Neil Walker (S) 3B
9. Adeiny Hechavarria (R) SS
Cessa starting instead of Louie Louie. Didi out. Stanton out. Meaningless game.
Cessa can't complete his first inning batting practice assignment and is relieved by Robertson after giving up four runs and every ball hit hard.
The fun of meaningless baseball. Meaningless baseball is the fodder of the stat frauds and their fake fantasy games.

Yanks down 10-2 after 6. I don't mind this post in a meaningless game.
Tarpley looks the best of the young pitchers I've seen.
Final Yankees lose 10-2. The loss means we do not go onto the wild card game with four consecutive wins. A law of averages thing?
Elimination wild card game from the Stadium Wednesday night. Lets go Yankees.
Win the game tonight and set the sux back on their heels.
