This season we appear to have improved the roster in all areas. Adding Stanton, Walker, Drury, etc. will surely make this team better. Having Robertson, Kahnle, and Gray for the entire season should also improve the team. The only injury of consequence is Greg Birds bone spur, the surgery he just underwent, and him being out for about two months. As usual we will play the hand we are dealt and overcome all roadblocks and obstacles.
We have several players at AAA Scranton chomping at the bit while blooming and growing that will be heard from and make their presence felt this season. You know their names, Torres, Andujar, German, and others. This 2018 Yankee team is deep, has gained confidence and experience, and has backups close at hand.
As I started to write this post I noticed a post by Cory. I thought his post was very insightful and positive and I didn't want it to get bypassed because of being posted in a past blog, so I am reposting it right here now. Thank you for your post Cory.
----- I will be doing the ten game sets and posting them here as I did last season.
Here is the sets from last season.
10. 6-4
20. 7-3 = 13-7
30. 8-2 = 21-9
40. 3-7 = 24-16
50. 6-4 = 30-20
60. 7-3 = 37-23
70. 2-8 = 39-31
80. 4-6 = 43-37
90. 4-6 = 47-43
100. 7-3 = 54-46
110. 5-5 = 59-51
120. 6-4 = 65-55
130. 5-5 = 70-60
140. 5-5 = 75-65
150. 8-2 = 83-67
160. 7-3 = 90-70
Note the sets from games 61-90. We were 10-20. That is awful baseball. Still finished 91-71. With everything else staying the same if that 30 game skid could be bettered this season to just 15-15 that would mean this season could wind up 96-66. If we improve the three 5-5 sets from last season by one game that would take this season to 99-63. And if we raise the 3-7 set to 4-6 that could take this season to 100 wins.
It will be up to the players on the field producing when it matters most, but it is surely possible.-----
It is not only Cory with great posts, it is all of your posts, every single one of you from all over the world who post your comments and views here. And all of the readers of the WIN METHOD blog from all over the world, even if you do not post. We have surpassed 320 million views and are getting bigger and bigger every day. Yes, we still get some stat frauds, but they are good for us and also and serve a purpose. The stat frauds give us a guidepost and remind us of just how meaningless and useless their individual stats are. There is no doubt to anyone here who is a WIN METHOD fan that only wins can take a team to the playoffs. Only wins and winning as always, do now, and always will in the future, determine the best players and teams. THANK YOU ALL WIN METHOD FANS.
Now it is just about that time where we all stand up and cheer our team for the 2018 season!

Thank you WIN METHOD. And thank you posters for your positive replies.
Great blog post again WIN METHOD. Your recognition of Cory and all posters and readers was very kind. Love ya,
Thanks Cory. LETS GO YANKEES!
22 hours until game time. Yes we can and yes we will.
Individual stats says it all. They are about the individual. All the individuals playing together to earn wins is what the game of baseball is about and wins and winning determine who is best.
I wonder how many Yankee players read this blog. It has to inspire them.
I've got the whole weekend planned starting tomorrow. Four Yankee baseball games, food, church, Easter Sunday, kids baskets. All in the proper order.
Cory, lets hope this season plays out just as you calculated it.
I'm off Fri, Sat, and Sun. Taking half day off tomorrow and will watch all the games.
Thanks for reminding me. Happy Easter everyone.
Lefty listed to start against us tomorrow, will Boone bat the three big righty bats together of split them with Didi? I would always split them. But I don't count nor have a say.
Tomorrows lineup posted already.
Thursday 3/29 3:37pm
Luis Severino (R)
@ Blue Jays - J.A. Happ (L)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
4. Gary Sanchez (R) C
5. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Brandon Drury (R) 3B
8. Neil Walker (S) 2B
9. Tyler Austin (R) 1B
The big three together. Gardner and Didi only lefty bats.
Boone went with the righties together and also Hicks ahead of Didi.
Deb F. >>>> The WIN METHOD blog should be required reading fro every baseball fan in the world.
William, When I read Deb's post I thought the exact same thing. Every baseball fan should learn the WIN METHOD.
Odd news stories.
This is the first time in 50 years (1968) that all MLB teams are playing their opening season games on the same day.
Also, March 29th is the earliest opening day for MLB teams on US soil. Teams have played earlier when they traveled to Japan to open the season.
And with 15 games and 30 teams scheduled to open the season today, it will be the largest MLB opening day in the history of the game.
Lets take this series, get off to a good start. Lets go Yankees.
Can the Yanks do in the first 30 games what they did last season? If yes, that what be fabulous.
I'd be more than happy with an 18-12 start, but I like 21-9 or better as a goal this season.
Game time one hour away. Lets get ready for Yankee baseball 2018, produce when it counts.
Lets go Yankees. Wins are all that count.
Maybe I'll get my 10 game win streak this year.
Start of game is delayed do to opening day ceremonies in Toronto.
Stanton draws first blood with first inning 2 run homer.
Yankees lead 2-0 after four.
5-0 Yankees mid 7th. Louie Louie with 5 2/3 scoreless innings and 91 pitches.
5-1 Yankees thru 8 as Betances gives up first run pitchers have allowed on a HR by first batter he faces.
Final 6-1 win.
Nice game, great hitting and great pitching.
Lets do it again tomorrow.
Tanaka's turn tomorrow.
Stanton is one powerful man. Maybe more so than Judge.
Yanks face righty tonight. Lets see what Boones lineup looks like when posted.
Hope Tanaka gets off to a good start this season.
Didi in the cleanup spot tonight?
Friday 3/30 7:07pm
Masahiro Tanaka (R)
@ Blue Jays - Aaron Sanchez (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
4. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
5. Gary Sanchez (R) C
6. Neil Walker (S) 1B
7. Billy McKinney (L) LF
8. Brandon Drury (R) 3B
9. Tyler Wade (L) 2B
Five lefty bats including MdLinney in LF and Wade at 2B. Didi cleanup.
I would still rather see Andujar instead of Drury. That will happen soon enough.
We will also get Torres at this season. McKinney being left handed is better for us right now than Frazier would be. Frazier needs to earn his way back to the majors in Scranton. No one should be handed anything, earn it.
It looks like Louie Louie may be fully blooming and growing and he could very possibly become the best pitcher in baseball this season. WINS Louie, WINS.
A formula for winning, score first and don't give up the lead.
Lets go Yankees.
Happy Easter weekend everyone. Lets win it all.
Wade K's on 3 pitches with men on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs failing when it counts. Not a good way to start the season.
McKinney is in game because he was called up from AAA to replace Hicks who is on the 10 day DL with a rib strain. We don't miss a beat, depth.
Yankees lead 2-1 after five innings.
Wade gets second chance, bases loaded 2 outs and Wade lines a 2 run double to right center. That's the way kid. You can do it. Bloom and grow.
Tanaka goes six complete innings with one run on three hits. Solo HR. Leads 4-1 in seventh.
Tanaka really looked good tonight. As good as Louie Louie did last night.
Judge, Stanton, and Sanchez each go 0-4, but everyone else in the lineup gets a hit and all contribute to the Yankees 4-2 win as Chapman gives up run in ninth.
Yankees win 4-2.
CC starts tomorrow at 4 PM.
Not to shabby winning when your big bats do absolutely nothing.
Jill Byrnes, that is what stat frauds do not accept, the team winning with the "lesser bats" making the win possible without one iota of help from the "stars". That is what makes the stat frauds so stupid. They are all crying because their fantasy teams didn't win.
It is fascinating how a player can look so good one day and so bad the next.
Lets see if CC can match Louie Louie and Tanaka.
Could be very nice the way the Yankee schedule plays out the first two weeks this season. Barring any rainouts five straight games and a day off then five straight games and a day off. Thought would mean all five starters go twice and all go for a third time with an extra day off between their second and third starts.
Cory, you use numbers, but in such a positive way. You use facts not made up formulas. Thanks.
Saturday 3/31 4:07pm
CC Sabathia (L)
@ Blue Jays - Marco Estrada (R)
1. Neil Walker (S) DH
2. Aaron Judge (R) CF
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
4. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
5. Gary Sanchez (R) C
6. Brandon Drury (R) 3B
7. Billy McKinney (L) LF
8. Tyler Austin (R) 1B
9. Tyler Wade (L) 2B
Gardner out, Judge in CF, Walker lead off, Austin, McKinney, Wade all in lineup.
Judge in center, wow.
This years Yankee team is something else. If and when this team loses several games the Yankee haters will be coming out of the woodwork.
How about this post on the NYY forum from one of their overabundance of ignorant stat frauds.
""""""Really dump to put Judge in CF. If he gets hurt IMO it’s a firesble offense."""""
The least to worry about is the two spelling errors, but the ignorant comment itself.
On a scale of 1-10 NYY is a 1 and the WIN METHOD is a 10.
Steve, Oh my God, the stat frauds are stupid. Where is Steven when you need him?
Deb F, LOL
Judge should be safer in center, he is further away from the walls.
And Judge is fast enough to play center. He does not look fast but he is so big he eats up ground quickly.
McKinney runs into left field wall trying to make leaping catch.
Gardner pinch hits for McKinney, McKinney shoulder looks to be the issue running into the wall.
CC grinds out five innings and leaves with a 2-2 score.
Warren in for the 6th and hit by a comebacker. Taken out of the game. Holder in.
Betances definitely has a mental issue. Gives up 2 runs in 8th to put Yankees down 5-3.
Yankees go down 5-3 despite Tyler Austins 2 HRs and 3 RBIs. The big three after going 0-12 yesterday go 1-11 today.
The loss is only a game, the question will be McKinney and Warren injuries. And I agree Yanks23245, Betances is a sick puppy.
Gray tomorrow to try to take this series. We need the win and we need the big guys to produce when it counts.
McKinney put on 10 day DL. Andujar called up.
Happy Easter everyone. Lets make it a big one and win tomorrow.
What nice depth we have.
Four game series are usually split. Winning four game series is a big plus. We have two four game series in our first ten games. Lets win today.
Happy Easter and Passover WIN METHOD fans.
Sunday 4/1 1:07pm
Sonny Gray (R)
@ Blue Jays - Marcus Stroman (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) LF
4. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
5. Neil Walker (S) 1B
6. Brandon Drury (R) 3B
7. Miguel Andujar (R) DH
8. Tyler Wade (L) 2B
9. Austin Romine (R) C
Stanton in LF. Sanchez day off. Andujar DH. Lets go Yankees.
Best BUC in baseball in also.
Andujar gets to prove himself against MLB pitching when it counts.
Yanks up 4-1 after 4.
Gray taken out in 5th. Gives up lead off single on 89th pitch. 89 pitches to get 12 outs. That has been his problem. Leaves leading 4-1.
Kahnle gives up 2 run HR in 7th. Yanks lead 4-3 after 7.
Robertson crashes and burns in the 8th allowing 4 runs on a grand slam. Yankees down 7-4 after 8 as bullpen gives up 6 runs in 7th and 8th.
Final 7-4 loss. Split of four games series after winning first two.
This turned out to be a dud weekend. Could have swept and should have won three. A downer.
Yankees get slapped with reality. No one is giving you anything. You have to earn it.
Yankee home opener tomorrow with Monty starting. Weather calls for morning snow and cold temps. Game at 1 PM is touch and go.
Gray is gray. Has stuff, but misses the plate far to often. Throws far to many pitches and if you get six innings from him it is a great outing, IF being the operative word.
It's early, there is a long season to play out. There will be ups and downs. Just have to win games. And not give any away, as we did today.
We have an April snowstorm, today's game has been canceled and rescheduled for tomorrow, and rain is forecasted for tomorrow.
A quick refresher and or wake up call for the Yankee team and manager Boone. You don't produce when it counts, you lose.
Home opener is now scheduled for 4PM tomorrow.
I have been told that Greg Bird will be back in action sooner than first expected.
It is not bad to split a four game series if you lose the first two. But to only get a split after you win the first two, and are tied midway through the third game and leading 4-1 after the sixth inning in the fourth game.
What to do with Betances?????
With Betances, every time he fails he loses value.
And Betances is doing an awful lot of failing.
bigbadwolf, thanks for the update on Bird. That is good news.
Very little chance game today will get played. Rain moving into the area and peak looks to be at game time and after.
Baseball should start the season in all the domed stadiums and warmer weather cities. For a t least a week or more.
Dennis Trovato, that would be using common sense. Don't forget the baseball commissioner is not to bright.
At least the rain out gave the bullpen a day off to recoup and gets their act together.
Tuesday 4/3 4:05pm
Jordan Montgomery (L)
vs. Rays - Chris Archer (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) LF
4. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
5. Gary Sanchez (R) C
6. Neil Walker (S) 1B
7. Brandon Drury (R) 3B
8. Tyler Wade (L) 2B
9. Tyler Austin (R) DH
We have a lineup, it looks like they intend to try to play today.
Rain delay, but they are taking the tarp off the field right now.
The Yankees take the field. Here we go.
4-1 Yankees after 3 on Didi 3 run HR.
Holder in for the 6th and allows 3 runs blowing the Yankees lead. 4-4 after 6.
Gregorius second 3 run HR of game puts Yankees up by 4 after 7. 8-4.
Final Yanks win 11-4.
First time ever. For the first time in the history of baseball a player had 8 RBIs in an opening season game. Didi Gregorius did it today.
Except for Holder the bullpen did its job today.
Louie Louie goes tomorrow.
With the great game from Didi, lets not forget the superb five innings of pitching from Monty.
Win today and we take our first series of the season.
There is a quick moving storm coming to the Bronx this morning and game may get delayed for a little bit today.
It doesn't seem like much, but 3-2 baseball is .600 baseball and .600 gets you into the playoffs.
RAIN DELAY
Tarp is coming off field. Rescheduled start time is now 2:35.
2-1 Yankees after 2 on Stanton 2 run HR.
Yankees lead 7-1 after 4 on Sanchez and Judge 2 run HRs.
This is fun. Judge, Stanton, Gregorius, Sanchez.
Final 7-2 win behind great pitching from Louie Louie and three two run home runs from Judge, Stanton, and Sanchez.
Four day four game series withe Orioles starting tomorrow. Tanaka, CC, Gray, Monty.
Would be great start to the season if we can take the O's series.
I hope Guy Padidian is OK. I can't remember the last time he missed posting a lineup.
Ranking our starters after one start for each. Louie Louie, Tanaka, Monty, CC, Gray.
NJYANKEE, thanks for your thought. I had an emergency meeting at work that allowed no outside of the room contact of any kind. Worst of all, I missed the game today.
Would like to win at least 3 games this series.
FYI fans. Tonights game is a 6:30PM start. The Yankees are experimenting with the new start time for some night games instead of the usual 7:00PM start time.
Take this series.
We face four right handers as of now.
I hope Boone geta Andujar into another game this series.
yankeelover, maybe even 2.
Thursday 4/5 6:35pm
Masahiro Tanaka (R)
vs. Orioles - Andrew Cashner (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) LF
4. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
5. Gary Sanchez (R) C
6. Neil Walker (S) 1B
7. Tyler Austin (R) DH
8. Tyler Wade (L) 2B
9. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
Andujar starts at 3B. Yankees starting five guys who were in the minor leagues tw years ago.
I like this lineup. I could see Bird at first, and Walker at DH, and Austin out when Bird gets back. That extra lefty bat against a right hander.
We really do have many pieces. Still, all it comes down to is, whoever is in the lineup needs to produce when it counts so the team can earn wins.
Lets go Yankees.
If baseball fans of any ilk would only learn and accept that wins are created by any and all players producing when it counts.
Scoreless after five.
Judge home run gives Yankees 1-0 lead thru six.
Yanks trail 5-2 after 8 and have failed all night when it counted. The Orioles had one big 5 run inning and produced when it counted for the 5 runs.
Final 5-2 loss. Did not look good tonight.
CC tonight after last nights loss. Not a good start for this 4 game series.
Last nights game was a perfect example why which team won. The winning team accomplished nothing all game but for one inning when almost every batter that came to the plate produced when it counted and the Orioles scored five runs. On the other hand the losing team failed on every occasion but one to produce when it counted and they lost. And it makes no difference who the players were who produced when it counted, because it takes all players on a team to help their team win.
Last night by the real stats.
Baltimore 1 HR with a man on base = 2 runs. Three hits with men on base = 3 runs. Total 5 runs
Yankees 1 HR with no one on base = 1 run. One hit with men on base = 1 run. Total 2 runs.
I bet the stat frauds never look at real stats. They are more interested only of the stats of their fantasy players who play make believe baseball in the world of fake stats.
If will try to keep a running total of production when it counts for tonight's game. Tune in stat frauds, you may learn baseball, wins, winning, and the WIN METHOD. If you learn, you won't be so stupid about baseball anymore.
Cory, a blow by blow, inning by inning account of tonight's game. Should be insightful for those unaware of what producing when it counts means.
Friday 4/6 7:05pm
CC Sabathia (L)
vs. Orioles - Kevin Gausman (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) LF

5. Gary Sanchez (R) C
6. Neil Walker (S) 1B
7. Brandon Drury (R) 3B
8. Tyler Wade (L) 2B
9. Miguel Andujar (R) DH
Andujar given another opportunity. He needs to start producing.
Lets go guys, start playing WIN METHOD baseball. Wins are all that matters.
Lets even this series tonight and go from there.
Here we go fans.

3-3 after 11.
To end 11th, Didi out at home as ball gets away from catcher but is tagged out at home by pitcher as Didi dives head first as pitcher blocks plate. You have to in with spikes showing and nail pitcher in arm, ribs, head or whatever you can draw blood with in that kind of situation.
Top of 12th. Rasmus fails with runners in scoring position.
Bottom of 12th. None
3-3 after 12.
Judge makes leaping home run robbing catch in 13th off bat of Caleb Joseph to close out Oriole inning.
Top of 13th. None
Bottom of 13th. #Sanchez fails with runner in scoring position.
3-3 after 13
Sanchez comes out of the game in 14th with O's batting with what looks like a leg cramp. He has had a very long night.
Top of 14th. #Jones fails with runners in scoring position.
****Alavarez with grand slam HR giving O's 7-3 lead.
Bottom of 14th. None
Yankees lose 7-3 in 14 innings.
A dreadful loss for the Yankees tonight. 14 innings of too many failures for a 7-3 loss.
Saturday 4/7 1:05pm
Sonny Gray (R)
vs. Orioles - Chris Tillman (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
4. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
5. Tyler Austin (R) 1B
6. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
7. Jace Peterson (L) LF
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) 2B
Peterson called up and in LF.
We now have to win today and tomorrow to even a series we should easily win. Not playing good baseball, hitters not producing when it counts. Not scoring runners from third with less than two outs. All this means losses and losing. Good thing it is a very long season and there always are ups and downs. The downs just seem to magnify when they start the season.
He will snap back, but so far this spring Sanchez has been a nightmare.
From the way I read Cory's producing when it counts track, the Orioles produced 4 times and failed 9 times. All 4 positives were home runs and only 1 positive with men on base, the game winning grand slam.
The Yankees produced 3 times, 2 were solo home runs and the only positive with men on base was Stantons RBI single. The Yankees failed to produce 7 times with men on base.
Here is a positive from last night. After CC had to come out after only four innings, the Yankee bullpen threw nine innings of shutout ball before Holder failed in the 10th inning of bullpen relief.
The lineup is killing us right now.
3-3 after 3.
CC on 10 day DL, hip soreness. Drury on 10 day DL, migraines and dizziness. Sanchez OK, just leg cramps. Cessa and German up from AAA. Jace Peterson signed to MLB contract and playing today.
3-3 after five.
Yankees take 5-3 lead after 6.
8-3 Yankees after 7.
Final, finally a win 8-3. Led by veterans, Gardner, Torreyes, and Romine.
We needed the win today. Now to even the series tomorrow and move on.
Much more production today with runners in scoring position.
Monty tomorrow to try to get us a series split.
Today was better, but we seem to be hanging in there with many supposedly lesser players carrying the water.
Andujar does need more seasoning. Pitch recognition.
Bullpen got a decent rest today.
A win today and we start the season on a positive winning note despite the injuries.
Sunday 4/8 1:05pm
Jordan Montgomery (L)
vs. Orioles - Mike Wright Jr. (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) DH
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
4. Neil Walker (S) 2B
5. Tyler Austin (R) 1B
6. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
7. Jace Peterson (L) LF
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
Didi and Sanchez out. Judge DH. Andujar 3B. Torreyes SS. Need the win.
Again and again, it always just comes down to producing when it counts that wins games, not the name or notoriety of the player doing the producing.
Three more innings of shutout relief from the bullpen yesterday.
Game time, lets get the win. Lets go Yankees.
That's the way to start a game. Knocking O's starter out of game by producing with men in scoring position, Walker rbi, Andujar 2 rbi, Romine rbi, Torreyes rbi for 5-0 lead after one.
