WIN METHOD --- 2018 SEASON --- PRODUCING WHEN IT COUNTS

It is here WIN METHOD fans.  Tomorrow we start the 2018 baseball season.  We start with high hopes, high pie in the sky hopes.  The goal is winning the division, making the playoffs and advancing from there as far as wins and winning can take us.

This season we appear to have improved the roster in all areas.  Adding Stanton, Walker, Drury, etc. will surely make this team better.  Having Robertson, Kahnle, and Gray for the entire season should also improve the team.  The only injury of consequence is Greg Birds bone spur, the surgery he just underwent, and him being out for about two months.  As usual we will play the hand we are dealt and overcome all roadblocks and obstacles.

We have several players at AAA Scranton chomping at the bit while blooming and growing that will be heard from and make their presence felt this season.  You know their names, Torres, Andujar, German, and others.   This 2018 Yankee team is deep, has gained confidence and experience, and has backups close at hand.

As I started to write this post I noticed a post by Cory.  I thought his post was very insightful and  positive and I didn't want it to get bypassed because of being posted in a past blog, so I am  reposting it right here now.  Thank you for your post Cory.
----- I will be doing the ten game sets and posting them here as I did last season.
Here is the sets from last season.
10. 6-4
20. 7-3 = 13-7
30. 8-2 = 21-9
40. 3-7 = 24-16
50. 6-4 = 30-20
60. 7-3 = 37-23
70. 2-8 = 39-31
80. 4-6 = 43-37
90. 4-6 = 47-43
100. 7-3 = 54-46
110. 5-5 = 59-51
120. 6-4 = 65-55
130. 5-5 = 70-60
140. 5-5 = 75-65
150. 8-2 = 83-67
160. 7-3 = 90-70
Note the sets from games 61-90. We were 10-20. That is awful baseball. Still finished 91-71. With everything else staying the same if that 30 game skid could be bettered this season to just 15-15 that would mean this season could wind up 96-66. If we improve the three 5-5 sets from last season by one game that would take this season to 99-63. And if we raise the 3-7 set to 4-6 that could take this season to 100 wins.
It will be up to the players on the field producing when it matters most, but it is surely possible.-----

It is not only Cory with great posts, it is all of your posts, every single one of you from all over the world who post your comments and views here.  And all of the readers of the WIN METHOD blog from all over the world, even if you do not post.  We have surpassed 320 million views and are getting bigger and bigger every day.  Yes, we still get some stat frauds, but they are good for us and also and serve a purpose.  The stat frauds give us a guidepost and remind us of just how meaningless and useless their individual stats are.  There is no doubt to anyone here who is a WIN METHOD fan that only wins can take a team to the playoffs.  Only wins and winning as always, do now, and always will in the future, determine the best players and teams.  THANK YOU ALL WIN METHOD FANS.

Now it is just about that time where we all stand up and cheer our team for the 2018 season!

LETS GO YANKEES

With two starters on the DL Boone does not have that much leeway with the lineup. We will need for Sanchez and Torres to return strong and on fire.

Lets go Yankees.

Didi 3 run HR has Yankees up 3-1 after one, but each game so far the Yankees starters have given up runs in the first inning.

No question a Saturday night game at 7 is a million times better than a Sunday night game at 8.

CC not real sharp, getting a lot of ground outs. Has given up 2 runs over 4 innings and is leading 3-2.

We need some tack on runs. A 1 run lead doesn't cut it.

Yankees with the best bullpen in baseball keep trying to get an extra out or two from their starters and keep getting burned time after time.

Final, Yankees win 5-4.

Eddie OConnor said...

Yankees win 5-4. DRob, Betances, and Chapman do their jobs in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. The win guarantees a winning road trip and at least a split of this series with a division leading team. Chance to take the series tomorrow in last game before all star game.

Evan Donahue said...

We don't make things easy on ourselves. We tend to keep the opposition in games.

Tanaka starts tomorrow. Hope he builds off his start earlier this week. All hands on deck tomorrow.

Teena/Bronx said...

By darn, we are lucky to have Romine as our backup catcher. He would be a starter for so many other teams. A real classy guy.

Sunday 7/15 1:10pm
Masahiro Tanaka (R)
@ Indians - Trevor Bauer (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) DH
3. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
5. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
6. Greg Bird (L) 1B
7. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Neil Walker (S) 2B
Higashioka catches, Walker second base. Hope Bird keeps doing what he's been doing lately.

Kurt Holmes said...

I think I might have given Andujar off and gone with another lefty bat. Walker at 3rd instead of 2nd and then Wade at 2nd. If I made out the lineup then people could second guess me.

Lets do it guys. A win and the series.

Hi there great blog! Does running a blog similar to this take a large amount
of work? I have virtually no knowledge of computer
programming but I had been hoping to start my own blog soon. Anyways, if you have any recommendations
or techniques for new blog owners please share. I know this is
off topic but I just wanted to ask. Thanks!

What a listless effort today and I am getting very very frustrated with the strikeouts. Especially strikeouts on pitches that are well out of the strike zone. I would love to see a team go to one year contracts on every player.

All I want from the two Yankees participating in the All Star game is one inning from Louie Louie and one at bat from Judge. Then get out of the swamp and take two days off.

KevMac said...

muchomachoman, LOL. And don't get hurt. Glad Judge and Stanton are no participating in the HR derby rouse.

Jimmy Thames said...

Only one superior league AL player is in HR contest, seven inferior nl players.

Al Ashton said...

The meaningless watered down inter-league exhibition game tonight.

Billy Tedder said...

Typical of a dirtbag like Harper, he cheated. The next pitch is not allowed to be thrown until the ball you hit on the previous pitch has landed, but that was not the case last night.
No big deal, the HR derby is a joke anyway.

Dennis Trovato said...

Per Derby rules, the pitcher is supposed to wait until each batted ball lands before delivering the next pitch. In Harper's case, he was off Schwarber's final-round pace of 18 home runs by five with less than one minute on the clock. Harper began closing the gap, and as the clock wound down, Harper's pitcher -- his dad, Ron, it should be noted -- appeared to break that "wait until the ball lands" rule on multiple occasions.

https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/there-are-home-run-derby-truthers-accusing-bryce-harpers-dad-of-cheating/

What garbage this lowlife is. I guess like father like son.

Ziggy Mann said...

MLB won't do anything, they condone cheating.

jimbo said...

Off day fun.
If you compare the 2018 stats of our 4th outfielder Aaron Hicks to Bryce Harper, Hicks is a better player with more value this season. And Hicks is our 4th outfielder while Harper is a much overhyped, overrated star of the inferior nl.

Jill Byrnes said...

jimbo, the stats are meaningless for WIN METHOD fans, you know that. There is even a bigger difference and you state it in your post. Hicks is the fourth outfielder on the Yankees, Harper is the star of his team according to the stat frauds. Hicks is helping his team to one of the top five records in all of baseball, Harper is helping keep his team from making the playoffs. Then compare their salaries. Harper is a textbook case of how meaningless stats are and when stats are used to pay players the team that paid loses every which way.

Norm Jackson said...

Harper is just another player talent wise. He is a bad teammate whos plays for himself. I don't think he will ever be a Yankees. WIN METHOD is brilliant and knows, plus Harpers personality is obvious.

Yankees down 6-1 after 5.

Gus Papa said...

Yankees still down 6-3 after 7 and have picked up where they left off before the all star game. 1-10 with runners in scoring position and have left 11 men on base.

Cory said...

Yanks get 2 in 8th to cut Mets lead to 6-5 going to the 9th. The bad, Mets intentionally walk Hicks to pitch to Gary'black hole'Sanchez and he strikes out never touching the ball leaving men on 1st and 3rd.

Hal Jenks said...

Sanchez gives away a run in 9th unable to block and or catch a pitch allowing a runner to advance and thus score on a sac fly. Yanks down 7-5 and coming to bat.

Yanks up 4-1 after 4. Yes!

Jill Byrnes said...

Yankees finally string a bunch of hits together and score four times in the fourth for a 4-1 lead.

Wilsonsway said...

Yankees lead 4-1 thru five, but the bottom of the fifth illustrates the Yankees problems. Judge leads off with a double and then the 3, 4, 5, batters go down 1,2,3, without even advancing the runner a base. Stanton, meatball, and Didi. meatball didn't even make contact again.

Domenic said...

Not scoring those tack on runs allows the opposing team to stay close where just a run or two by them makes it a one run nail biter game. And that is what just happened in the 6th as Grayskies gives up two runs and only goes 5 1/3 innings. Yanks up 4-3 coming to bat.

Randy Holt said...

Domenic, the Mets scored the 2 runs on just 1 hit, a single. That makes it even worse.

candycane said...

Yanks up 7-3 after 8. Nice word, up.

"Meatball" lowers his game another notch. Allows a runner to score from second base on a passed ball because he didn't hustle after the loss ball. Louie Louie rips into meatball in the dugout. Yanks down 1-0 on a meatball give away run.

Bases loaded one out in 9th and Hicks and meatball ground out for the 7-6 loss. The worst part the Rays get meatball out at 1st after failing to get the force out at second and still getting the meatball (who may be the slowest runner in baseball) at 1st by 2 yes two steps.

Walt Belamy said...

Can things get any worse. To easy to blame the manager, because the players are the ones who play the game and their efforts determine wins and losses, not the manager.

coryankee said...

This team right now playing very poor baseball and is still a well over .600 team. What a great feather in the cap of WIN METHOD with it seemingly being all the number analysts doing their best to upset the applecart.

yankeedoodledandy said...

Hate to be a negative nellie but if we have enough bullets in the gun we may shot ourselves out of the playoffs. It could happen if we do what we are doing this past month.

Ron Francis said...

It's sad to say but the team is better off with Romine as the starting catcher. Meatball is starting to remind me of a player who just doesn't care.

Eddie OConnor said...

Baseball players make a lot of money, get pampered on the road, and basically have a dream job. They are asked for one thing by the fans who pay their salaries. Hustle. Show a sense of urgency, a sense that you care for the team whose uniform you are wearing and for the fans that root for the team.

I would send him to Tampa. Ten days of riding the bus down there may wake him up.

That play in the first was inexcusable, and the lack of hustle in the 9th was just as bad.

Don't let the door hit you in the you know where on your way out.

Romine needs to play everyday.

Saul Irving said...

Eddie OConnor, Well said. How long a leash does a player need before something is done to right the ship. The tenet states, no player or team is as good as when they are playing their best and no player or team is as bad as when they are playing their worst.

Obtaining Britton extends the Yankee bullpen another inning. Also scoring 3 runs on outs last night is wonderful. Scoring runs when presented with opportunities to do so even by making an out is a big factor in close tight games and a recipe for wins and winning. Particularly in the second season. Home runs don't hurt either and neither do hits with men on base when it counts most.

1- 10 5-5
11- 20 6-4 = 11-9
21- 30 9-1 = 20-10
31- 40 8-2 = 28-12
41- 50 5-5 = 33-17
51- 60 9-1 = 42-18
61- 70 6-4 = 48-22
71- 80 5-5 = 53-27
81- 90 6-4 = 59-31
91-100 5-5 = 64-36

Another ten game set where we stood in place. These past forty games the team has looked very apathetic going 22-18 after going 31-9 in the previous forty games. 5-5 sets are not acceptable and the Yankees have had three of them so far this season.

Tony Manchu said...

My opinion, I believe that this team, playing over .600 baseball after 100 games would have an even better record if Joe Girardi was still manager. I believe Boone is missing something.

Take you individual stat and stick them where the sun does not shine. Stop swinging at pitches six inches out of the strike zone, inside, outside, in the dirt, and at your shoulders. Everybody needs to step up their game and support each other and cover each others back. WINS, gosh darn it are all that counts and all that matters. If any of you don't think so, demand a trade or just get off the team and get out of here. WINS, WINS, WINS. Learn it.

Wow WIN METHOD, I can only hope your words reach the powers that be.

WIN METHOD should be managing the Yankees. He knows more about baseball than anyone.

Lets go Yankees.

William Mensom said...

Expanding on WIN METHOD post. Many of you Yankee players are very young and have to a great degree proven your ability to by MLB players. However, until you do it, you haven't proven you can WIN. Last season you did by getting to within one win of playing in the World Series. That was in the past and the games each season are not played in the past. It is what can you do now, this season, this series, this game. The only measurement of true success is winning.
Stats are for show, wins and winning is for the dough. You have to prove yourselves each and every season. As WIN METHOD said, the time is now.

Yankeefan said...

You guys, uh, actually think yankees players are coming on here reading this stuff?

NJYANKEE said...

I see Andujar is getting the night off.

Jill Byrnes said...

Yankeefan, With over 400 million views and growing, if a Yankee ballplayer is going to read about the Yankees, winning, and what intelligent baseball fans are saying, this is where they come.

Yankeefan said...

Maybe they’re reading too much of this in depth stuff and not focusing on the game huh!

Some really insightful stuff here, namely wins are all that matter! Actually I guess that’s the only insight here but still.

Jill Byrnes said...

Yankeefan, Let me ask you a factual question. I preface my question with this fact, the only way a team can reach the playoffs is by winning more games than any other team in their division and the next two teams in each league with the most wins go to the playoffs. To advance through the playoffs and win the World Series can only be achieved by wins. My preface is all fact.
Now my question: What is more important than wins in baseball?

Yankeefan said...

Jill
That would be a matter of perspective no?

To the owners - revenues generated.
To a new fan of the game - the likability and excitement of the team
To a child brand new to baseball - the thrill of being at the ballpark and seeing your favorite player hit a home run.

I would say you ask an impossible question as different individuals have different values.

YankeeMike said...

I find it very telling that with over 400 million views here there are an overwhelming amount of post supporting wins and the WIN METHOD and so few that don't and challenge wins. I have to believe that the posters that live and die with meaningless convoluted formulized stats post in other blogs or forums. Their they can argue and debate back and forth with their own ilk and try to prove to each other that their convoluted stat is more important than someone else's.

Jill Byrnes said...

Yankeefan, nice response and all you state is likely. However, since the object of the game is for the players to perform to help their team win enough to win the World Series title, and keeping only that fact in question, what is more important than wins?

Even the owners would have to say that if their team would win enough games to make the playoffs and more, they would make more money.

All your fan options are real, but I bet 95% or more of the fans at any game are rooting for a certain team to win. The rest is just a personal choice, just like a person going to the movies. They go for different reasons, laugh, cry, be thrilled, electrified, etcetera. The best movies attract the most paying customers for any one or any combination of the reasons mentioned. They are the best.

As is stated almost every time Gray starts, I hope we get Sonny Gray tonight and not Grayskies.

Patrick Healy said...

Jill Byrnes, Yankeefans evading a direct answer to your questions says it all. He talked about fans and why they may go to games and evaded the basis of your question. Winning and wins are why the games are played, what happens during the game is the entertainment, but wins are the only thing that counts and matters.

Yankees traded for and obtained Happ from Toronto and only had to give up Drury and McKinney. Lets see what Happ does for us.

Domenic said...

We really gave up nothing to obtain a rental. Drury and McKinney combined only played a handful games for the Yankees and neither really had a future with the team in any starting capacity.

Walt Belamy said...

An old adage you never have enough pitching. Happ's ability in these two months will determine his value to the Yankees. In essence he cost the team nothing but two bodies.

Stan the Man said...

Yanks take 2-0 lead in first. Sac fly scoring runner from 3rd with less than 2 outs from Stanton and a ground ball from Torres that is mis-played. No strikeouts. You hit the ball and you can score, you strikeout and you get nothing.

Raul Vasquez said...

Getting back to Happ. It doesn't like any team thought that much of Happ if all Toronto could get is what they got from us.

candycane said...

Yanks up 2-0 after 2.

Yanks23245 said...

Great to see the emotion from Gray when he struck out Moustakis with the bases loaded to end the 3rd.

HerecomestheJudge said...

Andujar pinch hit for Judge in 4th inning. Judge had been hit by pitch on the right wrist forearm area in the 1st inning. MRI.

candycane said...

Yanks up 7-2 after 6.

HerecomestheJudge said...

Judge at Presbyterian Hospital getting MRI.

Zach Britton making his Yankee debut as he comes in pitch the 8th.

And Britton throws a 1,2,3 inning.

Final, Yanks win 7-2. WIN METHOD wakes up Yankees with his post!

Jill Byrnes said...

Good win. Four relievers with an inning each to close out the game. Four relievers left for tomorrow, Holder, Green, Betances, and Chapman. Nice.

bigbadwolf said...

First word on Judge is he has a contusion on wrist and is day to day. This is not official.

Yankeefan said...

Yankeemike

I gave a very direct answer. Different things matter to different people.

I’m a bigger fan of the game than any team and enjoy an exciting display of skill more than the outcome of any game. Many other people, as I noted, value thing differently.

Perhaps you just didn’t understand or are slow in understanding, which is fine.

Carl Hooks said...

CC starts tomorrow nights game.

YankeeMike said...

Yankeefan, You want people to think you answered the question and the question was reposted by Jill Byrnes when you didn't and she called you on it. You are the poster that is having trouble understanding. It appears you are a stat fraud and stat frauds post garbage almost all the time. I think there is such a minimal amount of people who go to games and not root for a team. I bet you could walk thru any ballpark and lucky if you could find a person or two who weren't rooting for a team. Disregard the kids who are learning baseball and were brought to the park by their parents who are rooting for a team. I can't believe the nonsense you frauds post. No wonder this blog has over 400 million viewers, they want intelligence.

Teena/Bronx said...

Still no definitive word on Judge and that is starting to scare me. Praying for the best.

HerecomestheJudge said...

This is from Yankee Public Relations Dept. ""Update on Aaron Judge: Tonight OF Aaron Judge sustained a chip fracture of the right wrist (ulnar styloid bone). No surgery has been recommended. The Yankees approximate a three-week time period before Judge can swing a bat in a game situation."""
That keeps him out to almost all of August. We shall overcome.

Yankeefan said...

Yankeemike

Yikes. I hope judges wrist isn’t as badly hurt as your feelings appear to be.

I don’t look at stats so I would suppose it would be difficult for me to be a star fraud. I just love this game, the players, and the spirit of the game.

I enjoy most of all how it brings people together.

Hope that doesn’t upset/offend you.

White Knight said...

Yankeefan must be thrilled. He goes to games for the enjoyment of skills displayed. He has to love a pitcher taking a player out of action for a month. Jerk.
