WIN METHOD --- END OF 2017 --- BUILD FOR 2018 --- BLOOM AND GROW

The YANKEES have reached the end of their fantastic 2017 season.  And a great season it was, accomplishing more than any pundits and most fans expected.  But not here at the WIN METHOD, where it was stated the YANKEES would make the playoffs and beyond, and where likely every WIN METHOD fan believed would happen.  The YANKEES not only reached the playoffs, but they won the wild card game against the Minnesota Twins to advance to the American League Division Series (ALDS).  In the ALDS the YANKEES had the Cleveland Indians waiting for them to play a best of five game series.  The Indians won 102 games during the season and were looking to go back to the World Series where they lost in seven games last season. The Indians won the first two games and the YANKEES had their backs to the wall.  You WIN METHOD fans, the smartest most intelligent baseball fans never gave up, you rooted your team on, never gave up, and the YANKEES themselves never game up as they went on to defeat the Indians in the next three games.  An amazing comeback for the YANKEES.  By winning the ALDS the YANKEES moved on to the American League Championship Series (ALCS) where they had the Houston Astros waiting for them.  Houston won 101 games over the season and are a young developing great team.  The ALCS is a best of seven game series and the winner goes to the World Series and the losing team ends their season.  The Astros won the first two games of the series and the YANKEES again had their backs to the wall.  The YANKEES never gave up and neither did you WIN METHOD fans.  The YANKEES came back to win the next three games of the series.  The YANKEES just needed to win one of the next two games in Houston to go to the World Series.  The Astros had other thoughts in mend and they also never gave up and the Astros came back to win the two games in Houston and move on to the World Series.  The YANKEE season was over.  But the blooming and growing was just beginning.  The 2017 YANKEES achieved more than the baseball world expected.  The WIN METHOD fans were not surprised, WIN METHOD fans being the most intelligent and knowledgeable in baseball were well aware of what their YANKEE team could achieve as the youngsters started to bloom and grow.
Congratulations to the YANKEE players, coaches, management, front office, and ownership for allowing the YANKEE team to bloom and grow.

The off season has arrived for the YANKEES.  Time to kick back, rest, relax, and do the things you want to do and the things that you don't have time to do during the season.  Enjoy guys, you made you proud and your run is just beginning.  During the off season the YANKEE front office will have many decisions to make regarding player personnel.  No question the roster for 2018 will change, some new players will come and some will go.  The YANKEES are in a position of great power having the best minor league system in baseball and many many players blooming and growing trying to make the 2018 roster and challenge veteran players.  The front office has work to do, hard decisions to make, and make them they will.

On a side note, you the WIN METHOD fans, fans from all over the world have made it possible for the WIN METHOD  blog, the greatest Yankee and baseball blog/forum in the world to surpass a quarter of a billion views.  Thank you fans for your devotion and passion, for being smartest baseball fans that exist, and for standing up against stat frauds  and their misguided fools view of baseball.  This blog will continue without advertisements and clutter that fills every other site you may visit.  I know, you visit them for laughs.

Have fun everyone in the off season.  I will go out and find a few more WIN METHOD players to bloom and grow down the road.  Spring training 2018 is going to be a lot of fun as the kids make their push for the majors, the brightest lights and the biggest stage in baseball, the New York YANKEES.  Yes they can, and they will.  Lets go Yankees.

You’re suggesting that advanced statistics showed Carter was a good player, but they didn’t. That’s why I stated pretty much everyone disliked the move...

Jimbos question is obviously 4. The question to me shows some ignorance in the use of statistics on jimbos part actually.

Steven said...

Also what you say about Cashman is clearly your opinion. I.t seems Cashman felt otherwise at the time.

Ohtani has announced he will not play for the Yankees.

How about these posts from WIN METHOD fans.

There may have been seasons in the past when a player was wise for not wanting to sign with the Yankees. However, when the Yankees are on their good runs, a player would be either a fool or a player who is afraid of the bright lights and big stage. We will find out about Ohtani soon.November 27, 2017 at 2:06 PM

I wonder just how much WIN METHOD Ohtani may be. He seems more concerned with himself than being a good team player and wanting to help a team be the best they can be.November 27, 2017 at 2:51 PM

Brilliant stuff guys and gals.

Deb F said...

Steven, I never suggested that advanced statistics suggested Carter was a good player. My point which seems to have gone over your head was how Cashman if he used advanced statistics as you claim showed how useless advanced statistics are.

Deb F said...

Steven, if the answer to jimbos question is so obvious, why bother with advanced analytical stats? If jimbos question is so ignorant why do so many talking heads and posters on forums talk about exit velocity and distance if it means nothing? Because they are meaningless.

Gus Papa said...

Kudos to the brilliant observations re: Ohtani by several WIN METHOD posters.

Steven said...

Deb F
It shows ignorance because those statistics aren’t used to show which Home run had more value. A home run is a home run, no one would
Argue otherwise.

Exit velocity and Home run distance would be used in predictive analytics. If Jimbo’s question was phrased “which of these would
Indicate a player with more raw power and more likely to hit more home runs” - then that would be more accurate as to how statistics are used. The way he phrased shows that there is ignorance there. Now these things might not interest you, but that’s simply personal preference.

Your point didn’t go over my head but it’s a futile argument l. Neither you nor I know why carter was signed. Furthermore I never suggested advanced analytics are the ONLY thing he uses..but he’s said countless times in interviews that it’s sometbing the organization embraces and that he wanted the new manager to embrace. I.t would appear he doesn’t feel they are “useless”.

Let me know if you understand any of this. Hope it helps.

Deb F said...

Steven, you do not need more raw power to hit HRs. They just need to go over the fence. You do need more raw power to hit them a long way. But as jimbos brilliant question made very clear, it is not how far you hit them, which you accepted by your selection.
Don't bet on Boone being a stat fraud, I bet he learned from his grandfather that wins and winning determines the best.

bigbadwolf said...

Deb F, You are batting your head against a wall trying to reason with stat frauds. WIN METHOD doesn't use them and he has had more success than anyone in baseball.

Vinny Ferrero said...

Thanks ot Ohtani we have a ton in international free agent cash for WIN METHOD.

will-i-am said...

bigbadwolf, WIN METHOD also has the best W/L record in baseball since its inception, the most playoff appearances, the most pennants, and the most World Series. That is fact. And he started before before advanced BS stats existed.

Steven said...

Deb
You 100% need power to consistently hit home runs. Who do you think is a better bet to hit more home runs next year- Aaron Judge or Torreyes? Clearly it’d be Judge since he has more power. Do you agree with that assessment?

Bigbadwolf
I don’t see a need to reason with me. I enjoy looking at the advanced stats and you don’t. So what, why do you have such an issue with that?

Deb F said...

Steven, Countless players similar to Torreyes are not employed to hit HRs. I find it foolish trying to compare an infield utility player to an everyday starting outfielder. As far as power, any player with enough power to hit the ball over the fence can be a consistent HR hitter. There are many of them. It is when you hit them that matters. On the other end of the scale is 200+ strikeouts make for a lot of futile plate appearances.

bigbadwolf said...

Steven, wasn't trying to reason with you, just pointing out the fact that the only team that uses the WIN METHOD has been the most successful and it started before advanced stats became the rage. I wonder why so many teams can't play .500 baseball using advanced stats.

Steven said...

Yeah Deb - I think my point is going way over your head. I think you still have no idea how people are using statistics, which is fine, they aren’t for everyone.

Bigbadwolf - cool, doesn’t really have to do with anything I’ve been talking about.

I would say that the fact that the Yankees have consistently had one of the Largest payrolls in baseball over the last 2 decades has contributed to their success as well no? Or should we ignore that completely and just give winmethod 100% of the credit and no one else in the organization?

bigbadwolf said...

Steven, when a team reaches the playoffs often, wins pennants, and wins WS that has a way of increasing the payroll exponentially. You do have to pay players for their success. The caveat, was the afraud signing which was a disaster. WIN METHOD knew that and said so. If the Yankees did not sign afraud they likely win a couple more WS. afruad was signed because the bean counters convinced Steinbrenner the seats would be full. The seats would have been full just by winning.

jimbo said...

WIN METHOD over advance stats.

Phil Jenkins said...

Steven, what do you think about Othani? Several posters here nailed him pretty well. Someone also mentioned he only threw 25 innings last year and felt he could not throw a starting pitcher amount over the full season.

Steven said...

Think he’ll be a more effective pitcher than hitter, but tough to project how effective he’ll be. Think he’ll be decent though, but not for us - sounds like he was very focused on being on the west coast. Innings are definitely a concern, but he was so low cost that it was worth the risk.

I don’t know that people nailed it- we don’t know for certain that he’s a bust or his motivations for not wanting to join the Yankees (could want to be closer to home, may not like large cities - who knows). Either way will be interesting to see how he performs.

Stan the Man said...

Steven, I tend to agree. But with just the concerns you mention, Othani seems to come with much baggage. Posters here mentioned that he was worth the risk because of the cost. Then there were these two comments yesterday.
""" YankeeMike said...
IF the Yankees get Othani and he becomes an issue it would then be incumbent that Hal, Cashman, and Boone meet with him and lay down the law. They could always trade him to the Marlins.

muchomachoman said...
YankeeMike ... That would be golden. Trading him for 2 or 3 guys and also getting the other team to pay you the 20 million plus dollars it cost to obtain him. Throw in getting the other teams first round draft pick for a couple of years.

December 3, 2017 at 5:30 PM """

Every player is different and people should easily be able to understand why what WIN METHOD does during his process is so valuable and brilliant.
I would love to see Othani crash and burn, he is what a team does not need, a major distraction.

Doug Shoen said...

Stan the Man..If Othani gets what he wants, doesn't that satisfy him and make him a good fit for the team and place he wants to be?

Stan the Man said...

Doug Shoen, A player can be WIN METHOD for a team and not for another. However, it appears to me that Othani may not have his mind on the correct priorities for playing the best baseball. He appears to have other priorities not pertaining to playing the game of baseball and has made them more important. There is nothing wrong with that, but I would not want him.

coryankee said...

At least the Ohtani event is over for the Yankees and they can move forever and may very well be better for not getting him. We have many players trying to reach the majors who are WIN METHOD and they will help the Yankees more.

Craig Winstead said...

Whatever Ohtani's motives, what's driving him, or what he thinks are his issues and the Yankees don't need someones issues creating issues for the team. See you Ohtani and watch your ear hole when Betances is pitching, even when you are in the on deck circle.

Matt Cooper.... That even more raises the question, why wouldn't Ohtani want to play for a playoff team and prove himself against the best? If his personal preferences are the reason to play for a losing or mediocre organization that would say much about his lack of desire and if he is a snowflake I say let him rot.

Cory said...

Trying to figure out Ohtani's motives and the baggage he appears to be carrying makes be very thankful he is not a Yankee.

bigbadwolf said...

WIN METHOD fans, keep in the back of your mind, the Yankees like to show interest in most targeted players even if they have no intention of signing them. That tends to help drive up the price another team has to pay to sign them.

Dennis Trovato said...

Need to move forward the next several years.

Steve said...

Boone, if he continues in Girardi's footsteps of wins and winning first, can keep the youngsters blooming and growing to their full potential. Instill the importance of producing when it counts, hitting against the shift, playing for the team to win and not individual stats, and wins being the ultimate goal, he will do very well. Aaron Boone, you are the manager, take charge and win, winning is all that matters.

Yankeeforever said...

Boone introduction press conference now. Boone "we will play and win as a team."

Yankeeforever said...

Question for Boone, "How will you define success?" Boone response, "By wins and losses and the goal is to win a championship."

Steven said...

Some comments from the game that still lead me to believe Aaron Boone and the Yankees don't find analytics useless:

Aaron Boone says he buys in to all of r analytics of the game. “Can’t wait to dive in,” he said.

Boone says he’ll find out which players need to be given analytics info and who to leave alone.

Deb F said...

My impression of Boone today. I think he will be a solid manager and continue the Torre, Girardi legacy of winning. He has the team and there should be no excuses.

Victor Grandozi said...

Steven, there me a misconception between people here. I think WIN METHOD fans find the new analytics meaningless for evaluating players. The traditional stats do that very well. I felt Boone was saying he accepted the use of analytics in trying to help players figure out a plan against each pitcher in certain situations. If we are saying new analytics are being used to help your hitters figure out what a pitcher will try to throw to them and where they may throw the pitch in certain situations that would be no different than what pitchers and hitters have been doing for a very long time. As Boone said, that would be different for each player. Many a player past and present believe in see the ball, hit the ball.

Hobbs said...

I was impressed with Boone. I just wish the microphone was higher, he seemed to have to hunch over to speak into it. Did like what he had to say however, particularly that he felt he would be measured on wins and losses. That is what every player should be evaluated on. That is the WIN METHOD.

Victor Grandozi said...

Steven, to go a step further and hopefully make it more clear. WIN METHOD fans largely feel analytical stats that are useless the defensive metric ones, WAR, BABIP, wOBA, wRC+, etc. I don't think Boone was talking about them when speaking of relating to the players.

Izy Hernandez said...

Hobbs, You got it. Very clearly stated by Boone, I should be measured by wins and losses. Exactly what the game is played for. That is how the best pitchers are really determined, by wins and losses, anything else is smoke and mirrors.

Robert Mandel said...

Here are some analytical stats. Bottom of ninth, score tied, no one on the pitcher do up. You want to pinch hit for him. You have two guys on the bench, one guy hits a HR every 25 at bats, the other every 75 at bats, which one do you use? DUH! Same two guys on the bench the next day bottom of ninth, score tied, man on third one out. The man who hits a HR every 25 at bats also strikes out 1 of every 2 at bats. The guy who hits a HR every 75 at bats also strikes out 1 of every 30 at bats, which one do you use? DUH!

Steve said...

There is comment by some, not here, that Boone is a puppet manager for Cashman and that is why Cashman hired him. I do not believe that for a second. I do not think there is any self respecting manager in baseball who would take the job under those conditions. Boone has a family of baseball players dating back to the 1940's. Boone will be no mans puppet or stooge.

Saul Irving said...

If anyone takes a job as a manager and doesn't want to accept control of what they are managing they are whining snowflakes.

Alex Antonius said...

Boone said he would like to name his coaching staff within two weeks.

Patricia Piper said...

What is truly golden is when Boone was asked how he should be judged, he said by win and losses. Love it.

Tom Loughlin said...

Now we wait and see who Boone surrounds himself with.

Cory said...

If Boone selects people who believe winning is the goal and only goal, he will do fine. If he selects anyone who says the numbers say this or that and such and such is the only we should move forward, he will have a problem.

Ziggy Mann said...

Harry,
All things being equal why is not getting Otani a step forward? Would have been for relatively no cost and been a very good pitcher?

muchomachoman said...

Lets bloom and grow some more in 18.

Walt Belamy said...

NJYANKEE, Yes, Boone looked very comfortable for someone going into a big time position for the first time in his career.

Oscar Hron said...

Here we are coming upon winter and we are talking of blooming and growing, isn't it great. Lets go Yankees.

Harry Stavris said...

Steven, There is no debate that the cost of getting Ohtani is a no brainer. What is in question will be his ability to help a team in MLB. The competition in Japan are a conglomeration of our AA/AAA players. Using the WIN METHOD evaluation process, Ohtani surely didn't want to pitch in New York or the east coast. WIN METHOD tenet, if a player doesn't want to play for you, his heart and soul would not be into it. You do not get his best output. The fact that he eliminated so many teams shows he is coming here with much baggage. Ohtani may be a cancer for the team that gets him, even though he is hand selecting who he will play for. The Yankees at this time do not need his issues.

Cal Fuerst said...

Ohtani signs with LA Angels. An American League team. At least we will get a chance to take him to the shed a few times.

Steven said...

Question - I’ve commonly seen the lack of playoff success used as arguments against trout and Harper - why then does I.t seem like a unanimous excitement for Stanton who has never led his team to the playoffs?

johnsondc said...

Easy question. If you have completely read the WIN METHOD blog from the beginning, the point you are making has been addressed. A player can be WIN METHOD for one team but not another. Players cannot not control what team drafts them, most of the time a player cannot control to what team they are traded to. Some players can be WIN METHOD for almost any team. It depends on the player and that is what WIN METHOD tries to discover in the interview process that no player he interviews knows. The interview tries to discover each players makeup, desires, culture, attitude, etc. Lets look at Ohtani. He could control where it who he would play for and he obviously did not want to play on the east coast nor the Yankees. Great, play someplace else. He chose the Angels. Look at Stanton, he with his no trade clause in had could also choose where he would play and the Marlins had little choice in the matter and really had to move his contract. Stanton refused to play with two different teams but readily and happily accepted the Yankees.
Also, some players sole desire is money and how much they can milk a team for. Nothing wrong with that, particularly if the player is WIN METHOD.
Now we will see what Ohtani, a big if brings to the Angels. We know what Stanton will bring to the Yankees.
It really is no different than a prestigious law firm not hiring a jerk from Harvard, but hiring a guy they love from Iowa State. The interviewer is the key, if he/she is also a great profiler they are worth their weight in gold. WIN METHOD is golden.

Hobbs said...

johnsondc, isn't what you stated the reason certain youngsters are taken in trades?

johnsondc said...

Hobbs, Yes. There is no way the Yankees for example can draft every player WIN METHOD would like, but they can attain them in a deal down the road. Sometimes players attitudes and desires change as they age also changing their WIN METHOD evaluation.

NJYANKEE said...

In this day and age there is no reason a player can't go to almost any team he wishes if they will have them. Just don't sign for a real long term contract and play out your time. If a player wants to stay with a team, it his choice. If he feels he is good enough to help a team win and wants to prove it, he can move on.

White Knight said...

I would think that the player who is getting paid big bucks for his individual performance and doesn't go to a contending team, can say he wants to win, but likely is just saying it because it sounds good to his fans as the team keeps failing.

And unless the Yankees retain Todd Frazier at 3b they might try to fill the position with their highly regarded third baseman Miguel Andjular.

Cory said...

Can you imagine the Yankee lineup if Torres and Andjular start the season at 2b and 3b.

Fred Slube said...

Lets see if the Yankees try to hold onto Frazier for third base.

Harry Stavris said...

A fourth step forward today. Yankees shed payroll and open two roster spots by trading Headley and Mitchell. What's next?

Larry Kennedy said...

Sign CC to stabilize the rotation and provide veteran guidance.

YankeeMike said...

Harry Stavris, how many step plan is this going to be?

Linda Rice said...

As Christmas draws closer it appears like we are getting a present every day from the Yankees.

AAA said...

Merry Christmas WIN METHOD fans.

Harry Stavris said...

YankeeMike, as many as the Yankees give us. It's going to be a fun season coming up. WIN METHOD nailed the blooming and growing.

Benny Pake said...

Merry Christmas everyone.

Wilsonsway said...

Sabathia has now talked to the Toronto Blue Jays. Also Yankees and Todd Frazier talks have not gotten serious yet. Again Yankees are in a position of strength having Andjular chomping at the bit.

Ursala Pei said...

Just keep improving the team any way we can. Merry Christmas.

Eddie OConnor said...

Ex-Yankee Michael Pineda has signed with the Twins for 2 years. Pineda after TJ surgery may get to pitch late in the 2018 season at the MLB level and he will be no major asset to the Twins until 2019 if at all.

Chad Copely said...

There are at least 10 teams showing interest in Todd Frazier.

Raul Vasquez said...

It may be possible Andjular starts the season with the Yankees and Torres doesn't. Best scenario is they both start the season in lineup.

Doug Shoen said...

Merry Christmas to all. Right around the corner.

Ernie Hassel said...

Just say no to Machado and Harper.

Neil Golub said...

Ernie, I'm with you. Not worth the cost. Plus, we may not have a spot for either.

Gus Papa said...

Aaron Boone named his entire coaching staff today.

Ted Lilly said...

Boone kept several, brought in one or two from within the organization and brought in one or two from outside.

Hobbs said...

With all the talent developing and the talent on the team now it will be imperative that the team must play together to earn wins and no one player is an island.

Carl Hooks said...

We will find out which Yankee rule 5 players are taken today.

Felix Lopez said...

We will find out if Chance Adams can make the rotation this spring.

Stanley Chin said...

Felix Lopez, also Andujar and Torres and maybe another.

Erica Johnston said...

Merry Christmas fans.

Frank Harris said...

Merry Christmas.

Yankeeforever said...

The Yankees got thru the rule five draft pretty much unscathed.

Dave said...

Yankee forever
Didn’t we lose 4 winmethod players?

Lori Kelly said...

Two months and spring camps open. Isn't it wonderful.

Yankeeforever said...

Dave, the rules of baseball, you can't keep and control everyone forever. Why sweat what you can't prevent from happening. Every team is in the same boat. Live and learn baseball.

Dave said...

I’m not sweating it and I know the rules- but I fail to see how losing the most players of any team is considered “unscathed”

Yankeeforever said...

Dave, I will assume you are not WIN METHOD. We lost the most because we are the best. We had to lose players, we lost several of our lowest rated players, and still may get some or all back at some point. Your failure to see how losing the most players lends us as being the best in our competitions eyes explains your failure.

Gene A said...

Merry Christmas.

Dave said...

Yankeeforever
What are saying, if course it’s a reflection of how strong our players are!

That’s what makes losing so many young promising players hurts, even if they were lower in our organization, they could have still helped us. Now they will be employed against us.

I think you are confused.

Yankeeforever said...

Dave, On the contrary. When we get some or all back they may still help us if they are good enough to make the big team. Your negativity is glaring. None of them may ever get in a game against the Yankees. Get a grip, it is not as bad as you are making it out to be. I can see you breaking down and crying at the draft as each Yankee is selected.

Dave said...

Seriously? I’m not even a little upset. You made a comment that was a silly and I called you out on it. We may get them back, yes, but to say we left unscathed doesn’t make any sense. Honestly you seem to be the one getting upset for getting called out on a nonsensical comment. Happy holidays!

Yankeeforever said...

Dave, when someone like you tries to make an ignorant point which is in correct and serves no purpose but to incite a non-debate, non-debate because your point has no merit, you thus are unable to call anyone 'out'.
MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Dave said...

I’m Jewish

Domenic said...

I have yet to see any stat fraud come here and make an intelligent point.

Yankeeforever said...

Dave, It's still Christmas.

Dave said...

It’s Hanukkah too :)

Yankeeforever said...

Dave, then you should have said Happy Hanukkah. There are many posters here of the Jewish faith.

Dave said...

Alright man I just wanted to include everyone.

The latest rumor has the Yankees and Pirates talking about Clint Frazier etal for Gerrit Cole.

Tommy Lee said...

It is believed the Pirates also want a starting pitcher near ready for the majors.

coryankee said...

I bet Frazier would love a trade. He could grow out his hair halfway down his back and get a chance to play, because it looks like he won't be able to do either with the Yankees.

Ben Rosen/Israel said...

I want to wish a very Merry Christmas to all my friends here at WIN METHOD and a Happy New Year. I am really looking forward to the 2018 season.

Neil Golub said...

Ben Rosen/Israel....My best to you and your family.

Cal Fuerst said...

I think Cashman will pull out another deal from up his sleeve before Christmas.

Lloyd Fuller said...

Merry Christmas and hoping for a championship new year.

Eddie OConnor said...

coryankee....Clint Frazier can't make the Yankee outfield. He is a chip we do not need. In other words he is a 5 dollar chip for us but could be a 100 dollar chip for another team. He will get his chance to prove himself.

Linda Pardo said...

Merry Christmas

Top draft picks have value for a few years. Mainly for their youth and perceived development potential.

Phil Jenkins said...

Here is a quote from one my favorite Yankee player. For the stat frauds who know nothing about baseball and winning it will give them something to make fun about and thus display their overwhelming stupidity....
“You play the game to win the game and not worry about what’s on the back of the baseball card at the end of the year.”—Paul O’Neill

Patricia Piper said...

Phil Jenkins....O'Neill was the consummate WIN METHOD player. Grit, desire, passion, every game every day. Grinding out 8,9,10 pitch at bats. Big hits when it mattered. Loved him.

Saul Irving said...

When O'Neill played for the Yankees that was one of the most WIN METHOD team there ever was. Jeter, Brosius, Posada, Williams, the utility guys, and others were all astounding at producing when it mattered. One of if not the greatest teams of all time.

YankeeMike said...

“You play the game to win the game and not worry about what’s on the back of the baseball card at the end of the year.”

If every fan just reads these words and tries to understand their meaning. Think about it, think about hitting away from the defense, bunting, hitting behind a runner, scoring the man on third with less than two outs, and doing these things consistently as a team, just think about winning the game and not what you can achieve for yourself, even if your team loses.

Donald Blazina said...

A very Merry Christmas to all.

Larry Kennedy said...

The Yankees and CC Sabathia have agreed to terms for 2018. One year deal for 10 million plus incentives. Just what the doctor ordered.

Diane Stahl said...

There's our veteran presence. Hope CC can help guide Montgomery and any other youngster. I wouldn't be surprised if this is CCs final season.

Norm Jackson said...

YankeeMike, You are asking to much from the stat frauds to understand anything other name their phony numbers.

johnsondc said...

I remember when WIN METHOD posted before anyone in the world CC would sign with the Yankees back in 2008. CC is big time WIN METHOD and shows it again by not 'holding the Yankees up' and accepting a low cost one year deal. I was newbie back then.

Victor Grandozi said...

Diane Stahl, I agree. Would love to see go out with a ring.

Guy Padikian said...

Merry Christmas.

Stan the Man said...

Reminder: Christmas is just a week away. Get it done people. Merry Christmas.

Cory said...

The Yankees are burning the hot stove coals talking with several organizations regarding several different positions and players. We should know more this week.

Steve said...

I will be keeping an eye to see how Clarke Schmidt progresses his first year back after TJ surgery. WIN METHOD really liked him.
Schmidt should resume game pitching in June 2018. He will need to build his arm strength and should not reach the Yankees until 2019.

Deb F said...

OMG, I forgot all about Clarke Schmidt. Another gem who will bloom and grow to watch down the road.

Cory said...

I have just concluded a detailed analysis of the stat fraud conglomeration WAR. It is useless as a tool in evaluating a ny player.

Steve said...

Cory, your findings are indisputable in the real world where wins and losses define who is best. In the fantasy or make believe world, the frauds and people who do not know baseball thrive on WAR.

Steven said...

You guys aren’t too fun at parties are you...

Hal Jenks said...

Merry Christmas.

Hobbs said...

Cory & Steve >>> You both speak to the facts. I am amazed when I see pitchers with losing records and positive WAR. Now I can see a reliever/closer with a small losing record and a whole lot of saves having a positive WAR. There is no way starters with losing records should have positive WARS. They do because the formulas are based on falsities and given inaccurate values therefor making the end result meaningless.

Cory said...

Hobbs, You explained it well. The values the frauds use are subjective. Subjectivity is in the eye of the concoctor, and many times the value is changed to try to reach a desired result.

Jill Byrnes said...

Guys, WIN METHOD fans and all other readers, google the different formulas, such as FIP, Park Factors, etc, you will see they are all completely useless. They are based on information that is invalid to the result they are trying to reach. Garbage in garbage out that is what you get from most modern analytical stats.
