WIN METHOD 2017 SEASON - INJURIES - PERSEVERANCE - BLOOM AND GROW

Hello WIN METHOD  fans.  This season, as so many youngsters bloom and grow, has had far too many downs.  To be contending for the division title with all the injuries our players and team have sustained is remarkable and displays the character of our players and team.  We will overcome no matter what is thrown at us.

The 2017 disabled list (DL) has included Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird, Tyler Austin, Starlin Castro, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, Jacoby Ellsbury, Matt Holiday, CC Sabathia, Adam Warren, Aroldis Chapman, James Kaprielian, Gleyber Torres, Clarke Schmidt, and Dustin Fowler.   Several of these players have had their season ended.   For a few of these men recovery will take many months and they can only look forward to 2018.   The others can still contribute this season.  I just want to give a special shout out to Dustin Fowler whose injury may be the most devastating.   I have had a special liking for Dustin for a long time now and I will pray for his healing, full recovery, and return to the YANKEES in 2018.

It is truly hard to believe, that with all the injuries, this team is still right in the thick of the pennant race.   The character of these WIN METHOD players is their crutch, the attitude they display when challenged with adversity is magnificent.
They play with one goal, for the TEAM to WIN.  Everyone contributes, and they win or lose as a team.   The goal is always the playoffs and beyond, in the past, now, and in the future.   These WIN METHOD men will fight to the end.

With every setback, the door of opportunity opens for another player.   Hopefully another youngster will race through the door and seize the chance before they expected.

As WIN METHOD fans, unquestionably the smartest and most knowledgeable baseball fans in the world, we support or team, ownership, management, players, and coaches.   We don't whine and cry, and we don't criticize and blame.
We leave that to, yes you guessed it, the stat fraud losers of the world.

There is most of the season left to play and we will persevere, playing the best we can.   We will continue to bloom and grow.  The draft was wonderful and the WIN METHOD got what it wanted in several draftees.   Our number one selection will be something to look forward to.  LETS GO YANKEES.

Jen,
Not sure if you truly read that closely based on your response. I enjoy things outside the W-L record in baseball. Not talking about stats but rather more qualitative factors. It seems you push some narrative as wins and losses being the only thing that matters as some sort of fact, but it's really just your opinion. It also seems that belittling people that feel differently is the go to here, which makes me wonder why you are all so defensive and close minded to others opinions.

Barry West said...

Jen Vitter, HEAR HEAR!!!

Littleredridinghood, Wins and losses being all that matters is fact, not "as some sort of fact." I here your opinion, when i go to the racetrack and bet on a horse all I care about is if he won not how the race was run. It is common sense, that is why baseball is played, to win, maybe not by all players who just want the big payday, but you can see the determination on the faces of players in the playoffs. There is something special about winning. Sorry but winning is special. Try it.

Littleredridinghood said...

Winning is great Barry for sure. But it isn't the only thing. It's not fact that it's only thing, it's a fact that to you it might be the only thing, but if you can't appreciate the other great aspects of baseball then that's on you.

Baseball isn't horse racing, the players aren't horses, the fact that you would even compare the two makes me think you're missing the mark.

Barry West said...

Littleredridinghood, you keep saying winning isn't the only thing. Tell that baloney to the boxers, pro golfers, pro bowlers, the olympians, the soldiers, owners of businesses, etc. Believe what you wish but you need to see the light of the real world.

Littleredridinghood said...

Barry
Your entitled to live you life by that credo. I wouldn't put winning ahead of personal values and ethical actions, which I guess you would based on your post.

And to compare a game of baseball to soldiers serving our country, yikes, have some respect for those guys (by the way they don't serve to "win" but rather to protect and honor our country)

Eddie OConnor said...

Littleredridinghood, Sorry, our soldiers do protect and honor our country. They do that by winning. If they didn't win the two World Wars we would not have the country and freedoms we have. Winning did that. Littleredridinghood, you are really screwed up in your mind. Personal values and ethics have nothing to do with winning, because every member of a team has their own beliefs and values, but when it comes to working together to create winning in any facet of life, those who work together the best are the winners.

Littleredridinghood said...

I'm not going to get into a political debate with you but there are a number of soldiers who serve this country without seeing war and combat. Honestly to compare baseball to our soldiers is disrespectful to what they sacrifice so I'd ask that you drop the comparison.

I'm not screwed up in my mind. I'm aware personal values and ethics have nothing to do with winning, that's why I'm saying winning isn't everything. You have some nerve to say that to me with an argument that completely is irrelevant to what I was saying.

Benny Pake said...

The goal of all sports is to win. That is the fun of the game for the fans and why they go and or watch the games. They root for their team to win, some may root for their favorite players, but it is all players who win when the team wins, everyone contributes.

Barry West said...

Littleredridinghood, And there are members of a baseball organization who do not play the games, scouts, front office personal, even the manager and coaches, all are part of a team and their goal is to win, just like the military. The only one offended by anyone mentioning the military is you. You are offended by many things. That is your problem. I don't think you even know what you are saying. By the way, I served in the military. Winning means everything.

Littleredridinghood said...

Barry
Winning can mean everything to you, I don't care. Enjoy it. It doesn't have to for me, and doesn't, and if you don't like that- then tough.

Tony Manchu said...

Littleredridinghood, why don't you ever talk about the Yankee players and the games, such as todays nice and much needed win. The solid pitching of Louie Louie, the big hit by Ellsbury.

Or yesterdays 2-1 win with with Headley producing the game winning HR, and Gardners leaping catch at the wall followed by Torreyes diving catch in short right in the 9th. That is what the game is about, different players doing their best, making the big plays when it counts for the team to win.

You talk too much garbage, you must have a lot of fun on the baseball forums.

Barry West said...

Littleredridinghood, I do enjoy the game and enjoy it most when the Yankees win. What you like is your choice and as you, I don't care. Just don't try to tell me winning isn't everything. If you are happy losing you are welcome to it.

Felix Lopez said...

Tony Manchu, stat fruads don't know baseball, they have difficulty discussing it logically.

Domenic said...

Tony, Just have to win the next two series and we will be right at the top or within a game or two. It is all about wins.

Victor Bruno said...

CC, Tanaka, and Gray listed for Toronto series.

Diane Stahl said...

Thank you guys for getting back to baseball and winning.

Andrew J said...

52 more games, last third of the season.

Warren Hammond said...

We did finish the weekend on a high note with two wins and have an off day today. If we just producing when it counts and win each series to the end of the season we will win the division. The kids are still learning and developing at the major league level. They can still get better if they keep their heads in the game and have the will to be the best.

Alex Antonius said...

Hicks will be activated at some point this week.

Stanley Chin said...

Castro and Bird will both see MLB action this season.

Linda Pardo said...

When everyone gets back the wins will need to flow or there will be no playoffs.

Steve said...

Many back and forth posts here the past few days. Just to keep the record and facts straight regarding baseball. The desire of all players, teams, coaches, managers, front office, ownership should be the team winning. Sometimes for various reasons this may not always be 100 percent true. Never the less, by the end of the 162 regular game season, wins and only wins will decide which players and teams and other entities go to the players. All others will go home to watch the playoffs. Also through the playoffs only the winners, decided only by wins, will up each round until the final round, the World Series is played. Wins will determine the winner. No other stat, group of stats, be they traditional stats, the man made convoluted garbage stats, or any combination of either group or anything else anyone feels is important will decide the winner. Only WINS determines who is best. Throughout the history of baseball only WINS has determined the best.

YankeeMike said...

Steve, thank you. You consistently make intelligent, insightful, and factual posts.

Guy Padikian said...

If CC, Tanaka, and Gray pitch in Toronto that would leave Garcia, Louie Louie, and CC for the sux series, unless Girardi is thinking otherwise or has something up his sleeve.

White Knight said...

Girardi could switch Gray and Garcia Thursday and Friday. I would still rather have used Monty on Thursday and not use Garcia. But, you never know how a guy like Garcia responds to a challenge. He pitched three games in 13 days for three different teams his last three starts.
Those past two games may not be a fair way to evaluate him.

Billy Tedder said...

White Knight, good observation re Gray/Garcia flip.

Ziggy Mann said...

The schedule makers give the Yankees an off day between two cities 188 miles, yet there are times the team travel from east to west coast or vice versa with no day off.

Teena/Bronx said...

I wonder if they came back to NY for off day?

Hal Jenks said...

We are close to the point where almost every game is magnified. Have to start winning more often. Lets go Yankees.

Cal Fuerst said...

Teena/Bronx, they did come back to NY.

Ted Lilly said...

Back in action tonight, time is here when the rubber meets the road.

Ben Rosen/Israel said...

CC if he is sharp and can get five or six innings, and if we can score some runs, we should have a good shot a taking game one in this three game series.

Anonymous said...

Remarkable! Its actually remarkable post, I have got much clear idea about from this post.

John Hartnett said...

If pitchers give up less runs it is easier to win AND if the hitters score more runs it is easier to win. One hand washes the other and the combination of both at the same times tends to winning consistently.

Sharon/NC said...

I am really looking forward to these next two months of baseball.

muchomachoman said...

Just imagine, and I'm just saying, Greg Bird comes back for September and has the month he had this spring training.

Guy Padikian said...

Tuesday 8/8 7:07pm
CC Sabathia (L)

1. Brett Gardner (L) CF
2. Clint Frazier (R) LF
3. Aaron Judge (R) RF
4. Gary Sanchez (R) C
5. Chase Headley (S) DH
6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Todd Frazier (R) 3B
8. Garrett Cooper (R) 1B
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) 2B
Sanchez back behind plate, hopefully Girardi reading him the riot act has an afect.

Jill Byrnes said...

muchomachoman, that would be Christmas in September.

Dave Mathews said...

Good lineup for now. Wait until Castro and Hicks get back.

Cory said...

It all comes down to what matters and the only thing that matters, WINS. The teams that don't earn enough wins after 162 games, go home, and it makes no difference what any of their meaningless stats are.

Tony Gigante said...

Cory, Just think of the lies the stat frauds would have to tell to deny your statement. I would love to see them decry your statement with their convoluted made up formulas. I can hear them saying that stats create wins and so in. The stat frauds are the ignorant of the baseball world.

yankeedoodledandy said...

But some fans don't care about wins and winning as Littleredridinghood stated "My only point was other things can matter to other people besides just wins."------Heaven help us.

Yanks23245 said...

Same old same old. We play from behind as CC puts us down 2-0 after one.

Littleredridinghood said...

How exactly is "other things can matter to other people besides just wins" mean I don't care about wins? If you're going to attack me, do it more intelligently please.

Yanks23245 said...

CC gives up 2nd 2 run HR of game putting Yanks down 4-1 after 3.

yankeedoodledandy said...

Littleredridinghood, I quote you and you think I am attacking you. Interesting.

Littleredridinghood said...

I mean more in regards to the "heaven help us" part pal. Nice job dodging the question though.

Domenic said...

Yankees not getting the big hit when it counts, leave bags full in sixth.

jimbo said...

Yanks down 4-1 after 7 as Mitchell throws 4 shutout innings. We need to score.

muchomachoman said...

Yanks load bases in 8th but only get 1 run. Down 4-2.

will-i-am said...

Final, another loss 4-2 and no production when it mattered.

Cory said...

14 base runners, 2 runs, 10 men left on base = loss.

Hobbs said...

It is amazing how almost all games come down to producing when it matters. You produce, you win, you don't produce, you lose.

Patricia Piper said...

Try again tomorrow with Tanaka on the mound. Just can't give up. Yes we can guys.

yankeedoodledandy said...

WHEN, WHEN, My kingdom for hits WHEN it counts. WINS are all that matters except for the losers.

Quay Ho said...

Our rookies Frazier, Sanchez, and Judge seem to have fallen off the cliff. They are young and learning. Bloom and grow may need some fertilization.

johnsondc said...

It has been reported that Sabathia "tweaked" his knee and is heading to NY for doctors opinion.

Alex Antonius said...

Does CC going down mean Monty back or perhaps another option?

Paul Hirschman said...

When you are knocked down, you just have to get back up. Yes we can.

Norm Jackson said...

CC gives up four runs in three innings. The bullpen allows nothing the rest of the game. The lineup can't get the big hit to win the game. Everybody wins or loses as a team. One big hit could have won the game. Just have to do better.

Teena/Bronx said...

You can't play backward, the past is done, play forward and win.

Rahm Mahoud said...

Clint Frazier has to develop and must play. Two options in my opinion, AAA or drop in to 8th in the lineup.

Ivan Noriokos said...

If the Yankees don't get their act together by the weekend they could dig themselves into a really big hole.

Walt Belamy said...

Now we have to win 2 to take this series.

Ok, good win, now we can take series tonight.

Hal Jenks said...

Gray making his second start as a Yankee starts tonight in Toronto to try to win the series.

Saul Irving said...

Clint Frazier was scratched from last nights lineup with an oblique strain. Cooper was put in the lineup in his place and got four hits and two big RBIs. That was about four more hits than Clint would have gotten.

Gary Shrieber said...

Clint Frazier on the DL. Hicks back, to play tonight?

Here's hoping Hicks and Gray give this team a shot in the arm tonight.

Chad Copely said...

Gray has Yanks down 2-0 after 3 and in catch up mode.

Andy K said...

Yanks down 3-0 after 4. I think the Yankees have at least several minor league starters who could pitch as well as Gray has over his two starts, and likely a few even better.

Sal Mineo said...

Down 4-0 after 7. Not looking good.

will-i-am said...

It's final, a very hapless 4-0 loss.

So we traded young talent for two pitchers that are 0-3 so far..lets give them a chance and see what happens down the road.
