Hello WIN METHOD fans. It is that time, the 2017 MLB season is set to begin, tomorrow the games count. The magic of the spring training 25-9 record means nothing. The home runs, runs batted in, the wins, the losses the strike outs, etc, none of it makes a bit of difference. Now is when it counts and matters, performing under pressure, and producing when it matters to earn wins for the team is all that counts. WINS and only wins will, by seasons end, determine who are the best teams and players. They will be the players that help lead their teams to the playoffs.
The YANKEES for 2017 and beyond are blessed with an abundance of talent all through the organization. And success breeds success as each youngster pressures and pushes the players ahead of them to reach the final goal of reaching and playing in the major leagues. Once there, the goal of making the playoffs and advancing to the World Series can be reached. Hal Steinbrenner has come on board the WIN METHOD train and his decision is going to reap benefits as the YANKEES reach the playoffs more consistently and the fans come to the ballpark to see the new young talent for years to come.
The YANKEES will start the 2017 with three youngsters in the starting lineup. Aaron Judge in right field, Greg Bird at first base, Gary Sanchez catching. Unfortunately, shortstop Didi Gregorius is starting the season on the disabled list, hurting his shoulder playing in the sham world baseball classic fiasco. The YANKEES have added youngster Pete Kozma to the roster to fill in until Didis' return.
Johnathon Holder another youngster is also on the roster as a relief pitcher to start the season. During the season you will likely see many different youngsters see some time on the YANKEE roster and do not be surprised to see one or two stick with the team this season. Two of the brightest prospects are Gleyber Torres who is on the cusp of sticking with YANKEES this season and has a very bright future ahead of him. The second is Blake Rutherford who will start the season in single 'A' Charleston as a nineteen year old. Blake is my own personal favorite to be a real big star in the major leagues as he shows much of the character, charisma, talent and desire of Derek Jeter. Can you all imagine having a youngsters follow in the footsteps of Jeter who was the best MLB player in baseball over his twenty year career. More playoffs, pennants, the World Series rings than any other player in baseball over his playing time span.
The WIN METHOD blog has now exceeded over one hundred sixty-four million views and the number one baseball blog in the world. The growth over the past two years has been exponential as more people are learning that only WINS and winning determine who the best players and teams are in baseball. Individual stats show abilities of players to play at different degrees. Batting average, power, speed can be illustrated via individual stats for hitters, while strikeouts, walks, hits allowed can be illustrated for pitchers. But, the ability of any player to be the best can only be shown by WINS and winning. You can't be the best unless you win. WIN METHOD fans already know this, and as more and more people from all over the world read, enjoy, and follow this blog, they also become the smartest baseball fans in the world. They have learned that no players individual stats are more important than wins and winning. Wins and winning is the goal of every team and should be for every player. Wins and winning is what makes the WIN METHOD the best player evaluation tool in the world.
Now, as the 2017 season begins, we are looking for a winning season, the playoffs and beyond, as the team keeps getting better and more youngster keep getting better and becoming good enough to make the big league team. Thank you, to all you fans from all over the world, baseballs brightest and most knowledgeable. Lets all get ready for a great season. LETS GO YANKEES.

Great post WIN METHOD. Lets bloom and grow. Love ya,
The future is now guys. Go out and produce when it counts and play together for one goal, winning.
Yes WIN METHOD, time to bloom and grow and win. The cavalry (youngsters) are coming.
Really looking forward to one heck of a season.
Really glad I came here.
The WIN METHOD has always blown away the stat frauds and all other baseball sites and forums.
Nothing is better than winning. the positive attitude by almost all here, the none negating of management, coaches, players to a great degree is a pleasure.
Would be great to get off to a good start and build on the good vibes from spring training.
WIN METHOD is really high on Rutherford. He must see something special in him to compare him to Jetes.
Being positive, the starters will be in the game for more at bats and less days off, particularly giving the youngsters more at bats at more chance to produces when it matters.
It is still the same old same old, win each series playing one game at a time.
I see where on a baseball forum one of the stat frauds got played with an April fools prank that Aaron Judge was placed on the DL.
Fans, chew on this. One HR by any player, just once per week, over the six month season equates to approximately 25 home runs. Nice if Bird, Judge, and Sanchez would all accomplish in their first full season.
Lets go Yankees.
Love this blog and the great information in it. No nonsense, positive, and uplifting. Best yet, no advertisements and no one trying to sell me something. Keep up the best site in sports.
Steve, it's April fools day, only a stat fraud could be so gullible.
Steve, Eddie, I would think anyone with half a brain would verify a claim of a DL injury before spreading the information.
Yes we can. Oh yes we can. Naysayers, get a life.
Play as a team, everyone contributes. No me's, many us's.
I think it is very nice that the stat frauds are honored with their own day today.
Hugh Frazier, very astute of you.
Lets go guys. Win as a team. It all starts tomorrow.
Phil Jenkins, Betances problem may be any one issue or a combination in part of two or all three of the issues you mentioned.
Here it is folks, the New York Yankee opening day 2017 lineup.....
Sunday 4/2 1:10pm
Masahiro Tanaka (R)
@ Rays - Chris Archer (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Gary Sanchez (R) C
3. Greg Bird (L) 1B
4. Matt Holliday (R) DH
5. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF

LETS GO YANKEES !!!!!
Americas past time is back. It is spring and time to play the greatest sport in the world, baseball. Let the games begin.
One game at a time guys. Play as a team. WINS are the goal.
Lets go Yankees.
We are down to minutes until first pitch. Lets go Yankees.
Didi as a lefty bat would have filled out this lineup perfectly. Too many times you do not appreciate what you have until their gone.
Game time. Almost. Communication problems with the head sets to replay headquarters.
We'll need our bats today to win as Tanaka gets hit hard in first allowing three runs.
Judge rbi double keys 2 run inning for Yanks to quickly respond.
Tanaka gives the 2 runs right back on HR. Down 5-2 after 2.
Tanaka hammered and can't finish 3rd inning leaves trailing 7-2.
After Tanaka gives up 7 runs in first 3 innings, Yankee bullpen holds Rays scoreless for next 5 innings.
We've had some chances but never got the hit when it would have mattered and go into 9th trailing 7-2.
Sanchez 0-5 and Bird 0-4 as Yanks go down 7-3. Not what we wanted when it counts.
Not the start we wanted for the season. Judge the only rookie with a hit today. Tanaka showed nothing.
Off day today.
Build on the loss. Learn it is not easy. We had the bags full twice and had our chances. Got just one run out of those two opportunities. When, when, when.
We may be better off having a day off today.
CC tomorrow night in Tampa.
We will rebound.
Yesterdays loss has to be all on Tanaka, he buried us inning after inning.
6-4 ball every 10 games makes the playoffs.
After CC tomorrow, Pineda starts Wednesday, then another off day.
As soon as we get a couple of wins under our belt and the youngsters get some big hits the train will roll along to the playoffs.
Stay confident fans, we've only played one game.
Lets go Yankees.
Get even tonight guys.
We can only improve as the season moves on. We have the parts, they just have to be put together correctly in the right order.
Our minor league teams start play this week.
Tuesday 4/4 7:10pm
CC Sabathia (L)
@ Rays - Jake Odorizzi (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Gary Sanchez (R) C
3. Greg Bird (L) 1B
4. Matt Holliday (R) DH
5. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
6. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
7. Chase Headley (S) 3B
8. Aaron Judge (R) RF
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
Same lineup as opening day.
OK kids, you hit tonight when it counts. Hang in there CC.
time to get our first win of the season.
Just wondering who will be the next youngster that makes and STICKS on the Yankee roster.
Torreyes 2 run HR in 3rd for 2-0 lead.
Yanks up 3-0 after 3.
Yanks up 3-0 after 5. CC looking good tonight.
Headley solo HR in 6th makes lead 4-0.
Bryan Mitchell in to start the 6th. Gets 1,2,3 inning. Yanks up 4-0 after 6.
Yanks up 4-0 after 6.
Game over. Win number one. 5-0.
The old veteran goes five solid scoreless innings for the win.
The only Yankee pitcher to give a run after two games is Tanaka.
Pineda tonight to try to win the series.
Sanchez still without a hit, but he has hit some hard shots right at people.
This is your year Big Mike. Lets go.
That's winning as a team last night. Five innings from the starter, four innings from the bullpen, HR and 2 rbi from the number 9 hitter Torreyes, HR and 2 rbi from the number 7 hitter Headley and an rbi from the cleanup hitter Holiday. Everybody wins.
Wednesday 4/5 7:10pm
Michael Pineda (R)
@ Rays - Alex Cobb (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Gary Sanchez (R) C
3. Greg Bird (L) 1B
4. Matt Holliday (R) DH
5. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
6. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
7. Chase Headley (S) 3B
8. Aaron Judge (R) RF
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
Same lineup for third consecutive game. Four if you add in the last spring training game.
Hope we can win our first series tonight.
Wait until Sanchez and Bird put it together.
Laura Suarez, everyone contributes, when everyone contributes throughout the season you win more games.
Lets go Yankees. Yes you can.
Ellsbury solo HR in 2nd.
Pineda pitches the Yankees into a 4-1 hole after 2.
Yanks down 4-1 after 7.
Yankee bullpen flawless again, but lose 4-1. Had chances, but failed every time when it mattered.
Bird, Judge, and Sanchez are 4-38 with 2 walks and 1 RBI over the first three games. The worm will turn.
Off day today.
Ben Rosen, when the worm turns the roses will bloom and grow.
Brian Crowley, I sure hope so.
No rbis from your 2 and 3 hitters leaves much to be desired.
Louie Louie gets his chance to start tomorrow.
New opposition in a new ballpark this weekend. The past is done, the future is ahead.
A win from Louie Louie tonight would be great and maybe a step forward for him. He has the tools, just needs to mature and learn to pitch using his skills.
The friendly confines of Oriole Park may be just what our kids need.
I see Kaprielian has been put on the DL with elbow soreness.
Friday 4/7 7:05pm
Luis Severino (R)
@ Orioles - Ubaldo Jimenez (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Gary Sanchez (R) C
3. Greg Bird (L) 1B
4. Matt Holliday (R) DH
5. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
6. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
7. Chase Headley (S) 3B
8. Aaron Judge (R) RF
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
Same lineup fourth game in succession. Unusual for Girardi.
Tough on Kaprielian, he just be one of those kids that is cursed for whatever reason.
Louie Louie with a rough first inning but only allows one run. 1-1 after one.
Yankees up 3-1 after 3 on Holiday 2 run HR in 3rd.
Sanchez 2 run HR in 5th for a 5-1 lead.
5-4 Yankees thru 5.
Yankees down 6-5 after 8 as Clippard allows first runs by bullpen this season.
This was a tough loss, but again, a hit or two when we had the opportunities and it would be an easy win instead of another loss.
Tanaka starts this afternoon and we could use a big start and a win.
Bird is off to one horrendous start. Hope he can keep positive and be who he is and do what he is capable of doing. Right now he is hitting like our ex black hole afraud.
Maybe Girardi should change the lineup.
Louie Louie one bad pitch cost him.
Saturday 4/8 4:05pm
Masahiro Tanaka (R)
@ Orioles - Kevin Gausman (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Gary Sanchez (R) C
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Chris Carter (R) 1B
5. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
6. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
7. Chase Headley (S) 3B
8. Aaron Hicks (S) RF
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
Bird and Judge both on bench today. Carter and Hicks in.
Bird doesn't seem to be getting fooled, he appears to be right on pitches, he is just swinging and missing everything. Major slump?
All will work out, it is a very long season.
2 rbi single for Torreyes when it matters in 2nd for 2-0 lead.
Yankees up 2-1 after 4.
4-3 Yanks after 5. Sanchez likely going on the DL.
Betances pathetic in 7th and puts Yanks down 5-4.
Yanks lose 5-4. 1-4 start to season. Wow!
I guess if Sanchez goes on the DL, the Yanks bring up Higashioka?
CC today. Can he save us again and win.
Sunday 4/9 1:35pm
CC Sabathia (L)
@ Orioles - Wade Miley (L)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Chris Carter (R) 1B
5. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
6. Chase Headley (S) 3B
7. Aaron Judge (R) RF
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
Eight righty bats.
Yankees down 3-0 after 5.
Yanks cut O's lead to 3-2 on Torreyes 2 rbi triple. Torreyes only Yankee producing when it counts so far this season.
Come on Yanks, I doubt want to be the newbie jinx.
Judge solo HR ties it in 8th. 3-3.
Castro rbi single in 9th gives Yankees 4-3 lead. Judge gets rbi ground out to right side for 5-3 lead. Romine sac fly rbi for 6-3 lead, and Headley scores on throwing error for 7-3 lead.
We needed this. CC kept it close, bullpen did its job, and we finally got production when it mattered.
Chapman 1,2,3 ninth. Final 7-3.
2-4 is better than 1-5. Much needed win.
For the fool stat frauds. The Yankees outscored the O's in the series, but alas, lost the series 2 games to 1. How much and how many mean nothing unless you are talking about WINS.
We shall overcome all obstacles. Yes we can.
Home opener tomorrow in the Bronx with Pineda starting.
Monday 4/10 1:05pm
Michael Pineda (R)
vs. Rays - Alex Cobb (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Chris Carter (R) 1B
5. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
6. Chase Headley (S) 3B
7. Aaron Judge (R) RF
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
Finally, Gardner and Ellsbury together at the top of the order again.
Torreyes leads the team in RBIs with 7, Holiday is next with 4 and Judge with 3.
Game time, lets win for two in a row.
Failure when it counts. Carter strikes out with man on 3rd and one out.
Gardner/Ellsbury tandem nets a run in 3rd for 1-0 lead after 3.
Judge long left centerfield bleachers home run gives Yankees 2-0 lead after four.
Pineda has been brilliant today.
Headley solo HR in 7th for 3-0 lead.
Yankees blow game open in 8th and lead 8-1 after 8. Pineda with a great outing for the win.
Final 8-1 win. Two wins in a row. Without Bird and Sanchez.
Looks like Sanchez to be out about a month. Also Montgomery to be 5th starter.
Injuries are part of the game, and we will play through them, around them, over/under them.
WE WILL WIN. Lets go YANKEES.
Off day today. Hope all the injured get well quickly and fully. Don't rush anyone back.
Jordan Montgomery has been named to start tomorrows game against the Rays.
WIN METHOD called it again. He said there would be many new faces seeing time with the Yankees before this season is over.
Montgomery gives us a second left handed starter. Hope it produces for us at the top level.
OK, now we have five starters, three righties and two lefties, plus a very strong bullpen.
Blake Rutherford is off to a solid start in Charleston. WIN METHOD think Rutherford could be another gem in the mold of Derek Jeter.
WIN METHOD knows baseball better than possibly anyone else there is. WIN METHOD is the reason the Yankees have dominated baseball for the post two decades.
TREASURE OR TRASH?
WIN METHOD is treasure and Bill James is trash.
It looks like Bird may have been trying to play with an injury to his foot he suffered during spring training and then getting the flu. Hope these several day off gets him back and on track.
WIN METHOD is the number one talent evaluater in baseball.
Think big Montgomery, then pitch big.
Afternoon game today fans.
I hope Pineda can keep doing what he just did last game. Was Romine the catalyst?
Wednesday 4/12 1:05pm
Jordan Montgomery (L)
vs. Rays - Blake Snell (L)
1. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Chris Carter (R) 1B
5. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
6. Chase Headley (S) 3B
7. Aaron Judge (R) RF
8. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
9. Pete Kozma (R) SS
Higashioka catching today. First time as Yankees. Ellsbury only lefty bat in lineup.
Yanks trail 2-0 thru 4.
Yanks trail 3-0 in 5th and score 2 runs and then score 4 in 6th for 6-3 lead after 6.
Montgomery charged with 3 runs going 4 1.3 but looked very good. Very encouraging.
Judge 7th inning HR with a man on give Yankees 8-3 lead after 7.
Final 8-4 win.
No Bird, no Sanchez, no Gregorius and we are still playing good baseball. The best is still to come.
Bird hopefully back in lineup tomorrow.
Judge is doing well. Major improvement making consistent contact.
A win take us over .500 and a series sweep.
Thursday 4/13 7:05pm
Luis Severino (R)
vs. Rays - Matt Andriese (R)
1. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
5. Chase Headley (S) 3B
6. Greg Bird (L) 1B
7. Aaron Judge (R) RF
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
Girardi taking a bit of pressure off of Bird?
Hicks solo HR in first.
1-1 after 2.
Yanks down 2-1 after six. Severino has pitched well. Yank bats failing again WHEN it matters.
Severino goes seven innings allowing 2 runs and K'ing 11. Then gets rewarded in the bottom of 7th as Aaron Hicks hits his second HR of game, this one with a man on for a 3-2 lead after 7.
Final 3-2 win. Chapman save, Severino win, Hicks all 3 ribbies.
Sweep of series and 5-4 on the season. Bird had another awful game.
Has Hicks finally come of age. What a nice four outfield combination we have.
Tanaka starts tonight against inter league rival Cardinals.
Castro 2 run first inning HR for Yanks.
Yanks up 4-2 after six.
Clippard bails out Tanaka in 7th getting final 2 outs with men on 2nd and 3rd and one out.
Yanks clinging to 4-3 lead after 7.
Betances and Chapman throw scoreless 8th and 9th innings for 4-3 win.
I can live with a 6-4 opening 10 games.
Don't forget Romines HR last night, but the single biggest event of the game was Tyler Clippard getting the popup with a man on third and less than two out in the seventh last night, and then getting the third out. Clippard performed WHEN it mattered most, not by creating a run(s), but by preventing run(s).
Learn the WIN METHOD fans and become a knowledgeable baseball fan. Stay away from the ignorant stat frauds.
Can CC keep the train rolling this afternoon. Lets do it CC. Lets go Yankees.
Is everyone on Easter break? Brilliant game from CC today. 7 1/3 innings of one run pitching. Then Warren with 2/3, 2 up 2 down. The Clippard for the save attempt allows HR to cut Yankee lead to 3-2. Also gives up a hit and a walk but does strike out the side for the save and Yankee win. The WIN which is what counts.
CC has been special so far.
Has anyone ever started off as bad as Bird has?
OK. We won a 3-2 game today. BUT we were 1-13 with RISP. How easy would today have been IF we got just 1 or 2 hits when we had those RISP?
Pineda tomorrow. Can he come close to last outing and start showing consistency.
Happy Easter WIN METHOD fans. Game today is at 8:00PM and is the despised ESPN Sunday night game. Big Mike to do it again?
Best to everyone this joyous holiday. Lets go Yankees and Big Mike tonight.
A chance to sweep another series tonight.
Nothing like WIN METHOD baseball. WINS and only wins determine the best.
Sarcasm.....come on people, you know individual stats are the most important thing is baseball. If not for individual stats how could fantasy baseball, the game for imbeciles, ever exist. Wins stink and determine nothing.
Fact....does everyone realize how stupid stat frauds must be to believe wins are not the most important stat in baseball and how stupid they are playing in the fantasy world.
Sunday 4/16 8:05pm
Michael Pineda (R)
vs. Cardinals - Adam Wainwright (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
3. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
4. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) DH
5. Chase Headley (S) 3B
6. Aaron Judge (R) RF
7. Greg Bird (L) 1B
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
Waiting for Bird to get straightened out, would be a nice plus. Everyone has to help carry the load at different times.
Let it be Pineda time again. Just like last week Mike, follow Romines lead, stay calm, throw strikes, and win.
Bird is back. Two run HR 3/4 up right center field bleachers after Judge rbi triple for 3-1 Yankee lead after 2.
Pineda so far so good again tonight. He is fun to watch when he pitches like this.
Hicks with another HR. Puts Yanks up 4-1 in 5th.
Pineda with seven very strong solid innings and leaves game leading 4-2 after seven.
Romine 2 run double in 8th with bases loaded when it counts puts Yankees up 6-2, ices game and still batting. Torreyes follows with a double to make it 8-2.
Mitchell has a sloppy 9th inning, but closes it out as Yankees win 9-3.
Another series sweep. Playing pretty good right now. White Sox in town for three night games starting tomorrow.
Jordan Montgomery gets the start against the White Sox tonight.
If Bird is back and productive the way we hoped for that is a major plus. But Girardi has been simply brilliant putting the lineup together each day considering all the roadblocks he has encountered.
I love the makeup of this team. An infusion of young quality talent tends to make a team better, particularly when there are several at one time. It seems to push the others on the team to play a little harder and more enthusiasm. Very much WIN METHOD.
Looking for Montgomery to take another step forward, produce, gain confidence, and become a weapon.
There are more weapons in the pipeline.
Has anyone noticed, with our starters getting into the 7th inning each start, the bullpen stay much stronger than ever.
Monday 4/17 7:05pm
Jordan Montgomery (L)
vs. White Sox - Derek Holland (L)
1. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
5. Chase Headley (S) 3B
6. Aaron Judge (R) RF
7. Chris Carter (R) 1B
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Pete Kozma (R) SS
I can just see the stat fraud idiots going crazy and whining about Bird not in the starting lineup tonight.
