WIN METHOD 2017 SEASON - INJURIES - PERSEVERANCE - BLOOM AND GROW

Hello WIN METHOD  fans.  This season, as so many youngsters bloom and grow, has had far too many downs.  To be contending for the division title with all the injuries our players and team have sustained is remarkable and displays the character of our players and team.  We will overcome no matter what is thrown at us.

The 2017 disabled list (DL) has included Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird, Tyler Austin, Starlin Castro, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, Jacoby Ellsbury, Matt Holiday, CC Sabathia, Adam Warren, Aroldis Chapman, James Kaprielian, Gleyber Torres, Clarke Schmidt, and Dustin Fowler.   Several of these players have had their season ended.   For a few of these men recovery will take many months and they can only look forward to 2018.   The others can still contribute this season.  I just want to give a special shout out to Dustin Fowler whose injury may be the most devastating.   I have had a special liking for Dustin for a long time now and I will pray for his healing, full recovery, and return to the YANKEES in 2018.

It is truly hard to believe, that with all the injuries, this team is still right in the thick of the pennant race.   The character of these WIN METHOD players is their crutch, the attitude they display when challenged with adversity is magnificent.
They play with one goal, for the TEAM to WIN.  Everyone contributes, and they win or lose as a team.   The goal is always the playoffs and beyond, in the past, now, and in the future.   These WIN METHOD men will fight to the end.

With every setback, the door of opportunity opens for another player.   Hopefully another youngster will race through the door and seize the chance before they expected.

As WIN METHOD fans, unquestionably the smartest and most knowledgeable baseball fans in the world, we support or team, ownership, management, players, and coaches.   We don't whine and cry, and we don't criticize and blame.
We leave that to, yes you guessed it, the stat fraud losers of the world.

There is most of the season left to play and we will persevere, playing the best we can.   We will continue to bloom and grow.  The draft was wonderful and the WIN METHOD got what it wanted in several draftees.   Our number one selection will be something to look forward to.  LETS GO YANKEES.

Chapman in for the ninth and on his first pitch a bullet line drive hits him in leg for infield single. Chapman picks off runner before throwing a pitch. Big out. Next batter he a bullet off centerfield wall for double. Batters are swinging from the heels on 100+ MPH pitches and making contact. Popup for 2nd out. Strike out for final out and 6-4 win.

Final 6-4 win, series win, and road trip win.

Steve said...

Day off tomorrow, but today was a big needed win. Now to build on this road trip. String a few series wins together and reach the playoff goal.

Gus Papa said...

Just have to play well more consistently and all will be fine.

Gus Papa said...

Off today and then nine game homestand. Two with Cincinnati, four with Tampa Bay, and three with Dteroit. Monty starts tomorrow against the Reds.

Dave Mathews said...

Need to play one game at a time and win as many as we can. Lets move forward. Yes we can.

How many losers out there (stat frauds) never gave this team a chance at the playoffs this year! Fools these stat frauds be.

Our destiny this season is in our hands. Wins and only wins will determine if we go to the playoffs. Nothing else matters, nothing, no matter what garbage the stat frauds want to feed you. Lets do it guys. Play together as a team, winning as a team. There is nothing greater.

Just my view. From his demeanor on the mound, his attitude when failing, and just the all around feeling I get from Betances, I think he is a head case.

I thought this before Betances threw a pitch, but Kahnle should have pitched the 8th and Betances never in the game. Use him in the late inning blow outs until he proves he do his job well.

This Cincinnati series is only two games and after winning last night we have a chance to win the series this afternoon with Louie Louie starting.

We won yesterday and in the end that is all that matters. BUT the win could have been easier with a hit or two early in the game when we could have buried the Reds. Then there was Betances doing all he could to blow another game.

Why trade for a middle of the rotation pitcher and give away anyone. Promote from within and give the kids a chance. If we win three of every five games we likely win the division. 80. 4-6 = 43-37
90. 4-6 = 47-43

Anonymous said...

For all saying to say no to gray, keep in mind we cannot hold onto to every prospect in our system, their simply isn't enough space on the major league roster. Some will have to be traded for areas of greater need.

Paul Hirschman said...

Monty tomorrow afternoon to try to keep the train rolling.

Ziggy Mann said...

I have no problem trading prospects. However I would rather trade prospects that I feel will not make a difference to the Yankees success down the road. I don't believe in dealing youngsters that may very well be gems in the making. All this may be treading a fine line, but I do not believe Gray is any better an answer as a starting pitcher than several of our present minor leaguers. I agree we can't keep nor protect them all, but we can trade those who may be truly blocked.

Anonymous said...

Which minor leaguers do you think could have the same success right now as Gray? Keep in mind the Yankees employ a strict innings knot on a lot of these guys - so a guy like Chance Adams probably cannot pitch deep into September for them.

yankeeclipper said...

In my opinion success is measured by winning. Gray has a winning MLB record and may be a fine pitcher for the Yankees. WIN METHOD finds that out. With the Yankee having increased their bullpen so dramatically I think Warren is a better option than Gray and doesn't cost a thing.
Caleb Smith being measured after two outings is meaningless. He does have 11 K's in less than 8 innings. I don't think Gray is worth what it will cost unless as Ziggy Mann stated we can get him for players that management may never have a chance to get to the Yankees because of better players in front of them.

Sharon/NC said...

None of us here but for WIN METHOD has any input nor the knowledge the decision makers have, but I like to look at how many walks a youngster gives up as he blooms and grows. I have always felt throwing strikes and getting guys out consistently wins games. I like Zack Littell. I also think youngsters ripen with age as they learn the subtleties of their craft.
Bloom and grow.

Victor Bruno said...

Hope we can close out the weekend with a win today.

White Knight said...

I tend to agree with most here that management has far more info from far more sources and tries to make the best decisions they can. However, those decision sometimes do not always turn out right.

Benny Pake said...

It looks like Littell has been traded for Garcia.

Nick Polito said...

It looks like Enns goes to as part of the deal. WOW! The Yanks seem to have a lot of faith in Garcia.

Carl Hooks said...

Maybe the Yankees have much more faith in some other youngsters. But as the team moves forward it will be interesting to find out.

Tony Manchu said...

Minnesota is paying Garcia’s salary down to the pro-rated league minimum, meaning the Yankees will only owe him about $187K.

RLA said...

Tony Manchu, so in essence the Yankees are getting Garcia for free this season minus two minor league pitchers.

yankeeclipper said...

The Yankees have made the Garcia deal official. I hope that puts and end to Sonny Gray.

Teena/Bronx said...

Just earn the win today guys. That is what counts. Wins.

Yanks23245 said...

Garcia gives the Yankees three left handers in the rotation around Louie Louie and Tanaka.

In early July the YANKEE management made the decision to trade/deal some chips for young talent that the YANKEES could use. The YANKEES traded Andrew Miller to the Cleveland Indians for four players. The piece the WIN METHOD wanted was pitcher Justus Sheffield. He is now a YANKEE. Hate to say this, but Clint Frazier is not WIN METHOD, but by no means to the degree of the great baseball fraud Alex Rodriguez aka afraud, Lets hope the move to the YANKEE will help Frazier mentally and lets hope he will help the team. I will monitor his progress.
In dealing Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs the YANKEES got a fine haul of four players and I am particularly happy with the YANKEES reacquiring my special WIN METHOD pick from several years back, Adam Warren. The other three acquisitions will all make an impact on the YANKEES down the road.

To make it easier I've copied and pasted.

After Frazier met and talked to Jeter and Reggie Jackson and the Yankees made him cut his hair, he sulked for a couple of weeks, then he saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Why did we get Garcia if we get Gray? I guess Garcia could be a free lefty reliever for two months. Seems odd to me. And why block our young pitchers with Gray who probably isn't better than they will be?

Very interesting, the Yankees get Gray for two guys recovering from surgery and Mateo. Only the distant future will tell the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Well the A's surely decrease their team salary. They have to be thinking long range. Gray gets his chance on the big stage. All we can ask from him is wins.

0-0 after 2.

Yankees up 4-1 after 4.

Bases loaded no one out in 4th and Headley 2 rbi double followed by Toad 2 rbi single. Production when it counts nets 4 runs.

Louie Louie struggles through five innings and 116 pitches and grinds all the way leading 4-1 mid fifth. To the bullpen.

Judge HR if 5th gives Yankees 5-1 lead after 5. Bullpen has 4 run cushion to work with.

Yanks up 5-2 after 6.

Final win 7-3. The key tonight.....2 hits with bags full for 4 runs when it mattered. Yanks were outhit, but not when it mattered. That is WIN METHOD baseball.

CC has his turn tomorrow as Joe Girardi figures out where and when to use his two new pitchers, Gray and Garcia.

CC goes tonight for a chance to take this series.

The last two games is a great learning experience for baseball fans. It is something WIN METHOD fans already know. Producing when it counts and matters. On Sunday 7/30 the Yankees on two different occasions had men on third with less than two outs, once with the bases loaded and no outs. They failed to score a run when even outs could have scored runs and a hit or two could have broken the game open and created an easy win. They failed WHEN it mattered and lost the game. On Monday 7/31 the Yankees loaded the bases while trailing 1-0 and two consecutive hits for two RBIs each scored four runs which in itself was enough runs to win the game. One game failure WHEN it mattered = loss. The other game success WHEN it mattered = win.
A perfect game to game example of producing when it counts over how much or how many. Stat frauds do not accept this fact, they are blinded with ignorance and stupidity beyond the pale.

Going back to anonymous and littleredridinghood. They need to wake up and smell the roses. Coming here and posting brain dead comments makes them look ridiculous.

Steve, If any of us posted what you just posted on the stat fraud forums we would get banned.
What did you think of the Gray trade?

Littleredridinghood said...

I disagree with anything I said being brain-dead - to the contrary it seems I was correct on my comments on Gray and the WINMETHOD initial analysis of Clint Frazier.

You may not agree or be happy that I was correct, but the name-calling is surely beneath you.

Wade at 2nd base again. Would like to see him start producing. Holliday down to 6 hole.

will-i-am, Gray has had a winning MLB record, that is a plus. Fowler had major knee damage, but he is young. The Yankees were giving him shot on the big stage and he literally suffered a bad break. He will get his chance next season with the A's. His performance will have great bearing on the trade outcome. Mateo hasn't hit AAA yet, has promise, but likely could not break into the Yankee infield or outfield because he is blocked by some very good players. As with Fowler, Mateo's performance when he gets to the majors will have a bearing on the trade outcome. As for Kaprielian, he appears two years away from the majors if nothing else goes wrong. He is losing prime development years with all his injuries, but could be special.
Like the others, Kaps performance in the majors will determine the outcome of the trade.
As of now the Yankees will have the better of the deal if Gray can win and produce on the big stage in the Bronx. Like everything, we only have opinions and views, Yankee management makes the decisions. The future determines how those decisions turn out for each team.

Littleredridinghood..If you spent more time learning and accepting the WIN METHOD and less time trying to "catch" a sentence and ignore the next sentence, you could become a more knowledgeable baseball fan and learn that wins are created by all members of a team working together and producing when it counts. Steve made a post about eight posts above that is very telling.

Littleredridinghood said...

Yep, driving in runners in scoring position is critical to winning games. Really eye-opening stuff...

Domenic said...

Like to see Judge get hot again and close out the season the way he started it.

Deb F said...

Littleredridinghood, as expected you miss the whole point of producing WHEN it counts. The eye opening stuff is you lumping driving in runs with RISP as all being equal. I won't waste my time explaining the difference of WHEN it counts most, and when it makes no or little difference. That has been explained many times from the beginning and all throughout this blog. It is a WIN METHOD tenet.

Gil McKenzie said...

Hoping to take this series tonight. If CC has his stuff all going he will give us a great chance.

NJYANKEE said...

It looks like Gray will start in Cleveland. Would love to see him get started on the right foot.

Ernie Hassel said...

will-i-am and Steve...Some players improve and some go south when traded. There are many reasons for this. Moving to a lesser team with no pressure to excel can make a player look better than he is. On the other hand a player that looks good could go either way, step up his game and excel, or wither under the pressure. For the Yankees, Gray is now, for the A's it is down the road.

Littleredridinghood said...

Really? The whole point? It's extremely obvious when there's a big moment in a game - TYPICALLY, when there are runners on base it increases the importance of an at bat. Obviously extra runs in blowouts don't matter, but to be honest, we don't play a large amount of blowout.

By he way saying when and now how many is just a battle in semantics. I hate to inform you but a win is based soley on how many runs are scored vs. the other team. Playoffs are reached by how many wins compared to other teams. You can change the semantics to fit your argurment fairly easily.
