Hello WIN METHOD fans. This season, as so many youngsters bloom and grow, has had far too many downs. To be contending for the division title with all the injuries our players and team have sustained is remarkable and displays the character of our players and team. We will overcome no matter what is thrown at us.
The 2017 disabled list (DL) has included Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird, Tyler Austin, Starlin Castro, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, Jacoby Ellsbury, Matt Holiday, CC Sabathia, Adam Warren, Aroldis Chapman, James Kaprielian, Gleyber Torres, Clarke Schmidt, and Dustin Fowler. Several of these players have had their season ended. For a few of these men recovery will take many months and they can only look forward to 2018. The others can still contribute this season. I just want to give a special shout out to Dustin Fowler whose injury may be the most devastating. I have had a special liking for Dustin for a long time now and I will pray for his healing, full recovery, and return to the YANKEES in 2018.
It is truly hard to believe, that with all the injuries, this team is still right in the thick of the pennant race. The character of these WIN METHOD players is their crutch, the attitude they display when challenged with adversity is magnificent.
They play with one goal, for the TEAM to WIN. Everyone contributes, and they win or lose as a team. The goal is always the playoffs and beyond, in the past, now, and in the future. These WIN METHOD men will fight to the end.
With every setback, the door of opportunity opens for another player. Hopefully another youngster will race through the door and seize the chance before they expected.
As WIN METHOD fans, unquestionably the smartest and most knowledgeable baseball fans in the world, we support or team, ownership, management, players, and coaches. We don't whine and cry, and we don't criticize and blame.
We leave that to, yes you guessed it, the stat fraud losers of the world.
There is most of the season left to play and we will persevere, playing the best we can. We will continue to bloom and grow. The draft was wonderful and the WIN METHOD got what it wanted in several draftees. Our number one selection will be something to look forward to. LETS GO YANKEES.

Yanks down 3-1 after 4.
Sanchez 2 run HR has Yankees up 4-3 after 6.
Betances with a shutout 8th keeps Yanks in front 4-3.
Yanks lead 4-3 thru 8.
Chapman struggling again. Two singles to first two batters with no outs men on first and second. Double steal. Second and third no outs.
Looks like we are picking up were we left off before all star game.
Grounder to Torreyes, error, game tied, men on 1st and 3rd. Intentional walk, bags full, no outs.
Chapman walks in winning run. Chapman gets no one out. Gross.
Final 5-4 blown game loss by Chapman.
New guy at first base looked terrible with the bat. No matter what his meaningless stats were in AAA there had to be a reason he was never called up by the Brewers and given to us for an unproven loogy.
This game defined the season we are having.
I wonder why Frazier was not in the lineup last night against a left handed pitcher instead of either Gardner or Ellsbury.
Louie Louie this afternoon. I see we don't have to worry about the Yankees getting Quintana any longer since the White Sox dumped him on the desperate Cubbies.
How about going back to the smart old days of paying baseball players one year contracts and base them on performance. Then maybe you can eliminate many players from getting paid big dollars for stinking.
No player makes a team, but one or two can really hurt a team. afraud comes to mind.
Sale, another lefty against us today. Lets see who is today's lineup.

There's a double header tomorrow. Both teams are allowed to add a 26th man to their roster for tomorrow.
Lucky 13th for someone?

Chapman on for the 14th. We are in trouble.

Heller 1,2,3 for the win.
Final 4-1 16 inning win.
We needed that win.
CC this afternoon and Tanaka tonight starting for Yankees.
Mitchell was originally slated for this afternoons game. I thought it was odd the Yanks would not use CC, but they are now?
Almost 11:30 and no lineup yet. Is Girardi trying to see who is awake?
Lineup up just as I posted.

Yanks 3-0 after six.
CC six scoreless 2 hit innings. 97 pitches and should be done for day. Can the bullpen hold the lead?

7. Clint Frazier (R) LF
8. Garrett Cooper (R) 1B
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) 3B
Scary, exactly the lineup I was expecting.
Hope Tanaka doesn't let us down tonight. It looks as if Judges swing has been hurt by the waste home run derby garbage.
0-0 after 2.
Tanaka halts Yankee pitchers shutout inning streak at 24 allowing 2 run HR in 3rd putting Yanks down 2-0.
Yanks down 3-0 after 6.
That was one heck of a catch by Jackie Bradley Jr. robbing Judge of a 2 run HR leaping over the center field fence in the Fenway triangle. Yanks down 3-0 mid 8th.
Final, loss 3-0. Series split. First shutout of the season against Yankees. Last team in MLB to not score a run in a game this season.
Onto Minnesota. Lets see what happens.
At least we looked better this series. Should have won first game and series however.
Another 10 game losing period.

30. 8-2 = 21-9

80. 4-6 = 43-37
90. 4-6 = 47-43
We have now had three consecutive losing 10 game periods. That is a month of losing baseball.
Looking ahead, we have seven 10 game periods to play. We win them all we win the division.
Mitchell named as starter for tonight.
Lets see what Mitchell gives us tonight.
Monday 7/17 8:10pm

9. Austin Romine (R) C
Sanchez out.
Frazier in 2 hole. Nice.
Game time.
Yankees behind 2-0 thru 4.
Judge now 1-20 since home run derby farce.
Does anybody know if that is freezable?
2-2 after 7. Lets go guys. Yes we can.
Yankees trail 4-2 after 8 and have buried themselves by failing to produce when it counts time after time.
Final 4-2 loss.
Same old same old. Still doing bad things and still losing.
The good from last nights loss were the acceptable efforts from Mitchell and Smith. That gave the bullpen the full rest it needed and now the bullpen should be recovered. The bad, the bats stunk up the place and failed over and over to get the big hits that would have won the game.
Cessa listed for tonight.
Steve, I agree about not being a participant in the home run derby. No manager should allow it. Swinging 100 to 200 times trying to solely to hit home runs is not a normal routine and it has to hurt every player taking part in the event. No doubt some far worse than others.
Sharon/NC...good point you make. I would like to see the managers try to explain away your argument. Kill the home run derby as it is now. I can present a way to do it without hurting the players and my way is not perfect either, but it is far better.
YankeeMike, When you get a chance please explain your way of doing the home run derby. Thanks
Tuesday 7/18 8:10pm

4. Matt Holliday (R) DH
5. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
6. Clint Frazier (R) LF
7. Chase Headley (S) 3B
8. Garrett Cooper (R) 1B
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) 2B
We face Mr. Porkchop tonight.
YankeeMike....Still 8 players competing. Five swings each from all 8 players. Then again five swings each from all 8 players. Top for advance. If a tie for the fourth spot, one swing each in turn until there is a winner. Second round same as the first round five swings each and then again five swings each. The two best go to the final round. If tied same process of elimination as the first round. Last round same as the first two, five swings each and then again five swings each. If tied same process to determine the winner, one swing each until there is a winner. The whole process would allow the winner to win the derby with less swings than he took in the first round alone the present way they did.
Yanks down 1-0 after one. Cessa walks 3 and HBP. No ball left the infield.
Steve, I like. Solid idea.
Yanks down 1-0 after 2.
Yanks down 3-1 after 4.
5 in 5th gives Yanks 6-3 lead thru 5.
Seems "the next jeter" rutherford may be getting traded for relief pitching.
Yanks up 6-3 after 6.
Betances and Chapman are leaving much to be desired. Betances struggles mightily in 8th loading the bases before getting 3rd out on line drive to right center that Judge gets to. Chapman walks first batter in 9th and he gets to 3rd on ground out and wild pitch. Chapman gets the save with fly out to end game.
Final. 6-3 win.
The trigger has been pulled. The Yankees obtained Robertson, Frazier, and Kahnle from White Sox for Rutherford, Clarkin, Polo, and Clippard. The Yankee likely get the edge in the short haul, but the White Sox may very well be the big winner in the long run with the acquisition of Rutherford.
Monty starts todays rubber game with the Twins. Will we finally win a series?
The Yankees, I would think, surely felt that their future outfield is flooded with prospects, two of which are playing every day in the majors right now. That leaves only one outfield spot available with three or four bloom and grow kids coming along. Someone had to go? Rutherford was the furthest away from the majors. As WIN METHOD has said many times, a player can be WIN METHOD for one team and not another. Lets see how the future develops for Rutherford. With the addition of Robertson and Kahnle the Yankee bullpen is about seven quality pitchers deep and allows for all to be fresh and not used everyday. Could mean this years playoffs.

1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
3. Gary Sanchez (R) DH
4. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
5. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
6. Clint Frazier (R) RF
7. Garrett Cooper (R) 1B
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) 3B
Judge gets a day off.
Taking this series would be a small step forward.
Lets go Yankees.
In second inning Yankees pathetically fail to produce when it counts and leave the bases loaded. Then the Twins with two outs score six runs delivering batter after batter when it counts for a 6-0 lead.
Yankees trailing 6-0 after four innings.
Still down 6-0 after 6 and can't buy a clutch hit when needed. Monty finishes 6 innings and had one atrocious inning failing to get the 3rd out when it counted. If you watch enough baseball and learn the game you will see how meaningless individual stats are and how producing when it counts determines wins and losses.
Final 6-1 loss. Another series lost. Playing some really bad baseball.
Kahnle pitched the 8th inning and it was nice to see strike after strike and no walks.
Onward for four games in Seattle.
If we split the series in Seattle we have a losing road trip.
First game of the four game series in Seattle tonight and Louie Louie starts against dancing queen.
Every game the season gets shorter. We need an abundance of wins or we can kiss the playoffs goodbye.
Pretty much during these past six weeks and all the losses, everything that could go wrong in any combination of ways, has gone wrong. Makes for a lot of losses.
A hot streak can turn things around quickly. It is up to the players on the field producing when it counts at bat, on the mound, and in the field.
Somewhere along the line Louie Louie will get some support. Tonight?
I wonder what would happen if Girardi just settled on a consistent lineup for a month. There is so much position movement in the field and batting order, it seems no one knows what their role is day to day.
Thursday 7/20 10:10pm

2. Gary Sanchez (R) C

6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Todd Frazier (R) 3B
8. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
9. Chase Headley (S) 1B
No Clint Frazier.
Scoreless after 2.
0-0 after 3.
Yankee bats again lifeless through four innings.
Severino works out of trouble in 4th. Still scoreless.
1-0 Yankees after 6 on Gardner HR.
Louie Louie goes seven strong shutout innings and leaves the game leading 1-0.
Betances in for the 8th puts 2 men on, but gets out of inning. 2-0 Yanks after 8.
Chapman in for the 9th and allows a run. Final 4-1 Yankees.
Final 4-1 win.
After last night great start from Louie Louie, CC gets his turn tonight.
If the lineup produces run we have enough pitching to make the playoffs. Scoring runs when it counts to win games is the key. Not how much nor how many, but when it counts and matters. Sox got ten hits last night, Yanks got seven. Sox got one hit when it mattered after 26 outs.
We are so overdo to win a series, it sure would be nice to string a bunch of them together for the next couple of months.
Remember another of the WIN METHOD tenets...who can be WIN METHOD for a team but not for another team. This may be apropos for Blake Rutherford. WIN METHOD loves him and he got drafted first by the Yankees. Rutherford bleeds Yankee and he wanted nothing else but to be a Yankee and play for the Yankees. Logically fans, think about how this may affect his attitude going forward in another organization. Wish him well, but!
johnsondc, so true. it is no different than an executive excelling at one company and not at another when h changes jobs. The mind plays a big part in sports.
Johnsondc,
Are you suggesting we kind of screwed him in his career by trading him?
johnsondc, Phil Jenkins, an issue the Yankees have is an over abundance of very talented youngsters in many areas. Unfortunately not all can be protected, sometimes decisions have to made that are very hard. Only the future will determine if the decision is good or bad one. But that is the ultimate in looking back and second guessing. As fans we just have to leave the decisions to those in charge and hope they turn out well and help the team win.
Anonymous, try using a name here. To answer your question, by no means. I can't imagine how or why anyone would think that.
Phil Jenkins, I agree. Attitude plays an important part in performance. Everyone's makeup is different, finding the right people for your organization is paramount in making the organization successful.
It is not what a single player accomplishes for himself, it is what he accomplishes for the team by producing when it counts to create wins. That is where attitude is of the utmost importance. Guys like Jeter and Pedroia for example.
Jill Byrnes, so very true.

2. Gary Sanchez (R) C
3. Aaron Judge (R) RF
4. Matt Holliday (R) DH
5. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Todd Frazier (R) 3B
8. Chase Headley (S) 1B
9. Clint Frazier (R) LF
Clint Frazier in for Ellsbury. The rest the same.
Johnsondc
By suggesting that he may not be successful after being traded to another team, you implied that the Yankees may have harmed his career with the trade. I've met Rutherford multiple times and he his a high character individual who understands trades are part of the game. I believe he has the character to succeed in any organization and to suggest otherwise is unfair to him.
Take another step forward with a win tonight. Lets get hot.
Anonymous, again, try to use a name. I implied nor suggested nothing of the kind. Your opinion has more to do with the way you wanted to see my statement of fact. There is no doubt Rutherford has great character, WIN METHOD wouldn't have passed him to the Yankees if he didn't. WIN METHOD tenets are fact, like it or not the choice is up to each individual.
Very well, we'll agree to disagree on what was implied.
Anonymous, what would you say IF Rutherford fails and doesn't reach the majors? Please don't respond with any stupid idea of that is what I am hoping for, just making a point that you do not know what you are talking about in my opinion.
I never said it's what anyone hoping for. But if by trading him you feel he has less of a chance to succeed, then by definition you've hurt his career. Is that Not correct?
I'd say that is was disappointing if he didn't, but was for lack of skill, not desire or motivation.
Holiday is do to start producing again. Everybody need to hit when it counts most. We need wins.
Anonymous, third time, try using a name. Skill, desire, and motivation have nothing to do with mental attitude. If Rutherford has the mental attitude for any other team that WIN METHOD knew he had for the Yankees, he will succeed. IF!
Someone posted earlier that we need to produce as a team in all aspects of the game to earn wins. Do that and success is at hand.
Well I'd argue that desire, motivation, and mental attitude are all connected as they're part of the mental aspect of the game, but anyway. I stand by the opinion that you were implying Rutherfords chances to succeed may be less with another organization, and knowing him I would guess more personally than you do, I disagree. End of discussion.
Game time for a win.
Abloggerhasnoname, I have found that anyone who states "end of discussion" has lost, they know they have lost, and they have rested their case in peace.
I just didn't think there was more to discuss. Do you have anything to add to the
conversation? Or did you just want to declare yourself victorious over something?
Yanks down 1-0 after 1, but CC leaves bags full limiting the damage.
Yanks down 1-0 after 2.
Yankees up 2-1 after 4.
Judge 3 run HR puts Yanks up 5-1 after five.
5-1 Yanks thru 8. Kahnle, Robertson, Betances each throw a scoreless inning.
Final 5-1 win.
Tanaka starts tonight to try for third Yankee win in a row and a chance to win this series and a winning road trip.
Used four relief pitchers for one inning each last night and the only one to get in trouble and hit hard was Betances.
I have to say I have been very impressed by Clint Frazier. It seems that after he met with Derek Jeter and once he cut off that long hair and then got with the Yankee philosophy of playing as a team and not I, saying the right things, showing humility, and performing on the field offensively and defensively he looks like he belongs in the lineup everyday. The problem management has is too many outfielders once Hicks gets back. In my opinion the one who is least productive and the most expensive are all in one, Jacoby Ellsbury has to be the one to go one way or the other.
yankeeclipper, I agree. The one problem is Ellsbury gets paid no matter what. That is a bitter pill to swallow.
We should be playing to win. If a player is going to give us a better chance to win he should be playing.
Frank Sergi, I think the team is always playing to win, I think you mean if a player is going to give us a better chance to win he should be playing. But, the is the managers decision.
We have two chances to win our first series in two months. Make it happen tonight and play for a four game sweep tomorrow.
Our bullpen is deep enough now (if they produce when it counts) that we are looking st some 5, 6 and 7 inning games. Score early guys.
Unless the Yankees get a steal deal for a quality starter, I would rather give several of our bloom and grow pitchers a shot in the majors. Particularly now with so many closers to help take the pressure off them to feel they have to go very deep into games.
Saturday 7/22 9:10pm

6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Todd Frazier (R) 3B
8. Garrett Cooper (R) 1B
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) 2B
Headley and Castro both out tonight.
Castro reinjured his hammy and is back on DL.
Yanks fall behind 4-1 after 4.
Six complete. Yanks cut Mariner lead to one. Trail 4-3.
Yankees call up Wade to replace Castro on roster but can't get cross country in time for game.
Yankees tie it at 4 in top of 8th, but Robertson gives up HR in bottom of 8th. Yankees still down by one at 5-4.
Toad Frazier is killing us. Been an epic fail so far.
Torreyes with a two out two strike RBI big time when it counts single ties game at 5.
Kahnle in for the 9th.
Kahnle strike out the side in 9th. Extra innings.
Yanks fail to score in 10th. Warren in for 10th.
Warren losses it.
Final, bullpen losses game 6-5. Another horrid 1 run loss.
We now are down to today's game where a win means we finally win a series and have a winning eleven game road trip. It is a step we need to move forward. A loss today is not the end of the season but it would not be a step forward for the team.
Cessa our starter today.
With the depth of our bullpen I think it would be wise to let a reliever who comes in and shows he his effective and dominant in the inning he pitched be allowed to pitch a second inning. Going the route of four different guys in four different innings may not be the best route because there is always a better chance that one may not be effective that day.
Wade will be available today. Need Cessa to throw a good game. Frazier at third has been a
black hole hitting disaster. Just bring up Andujar and it would be an automatic upgrade. Just do it.
Sometimes it is hard for us as fans to believe the way our time is run and the decisions that are being made. I do believe that everyone wants the team to win, but they have more on their plate than we do or even know about. Just go with the flow.
Lori Kelly and many others, you all are the reason this blog is the best baseball blog in the world. No Barbara Streisand (except when the stat frauds visit) solid common sense and fans that know baseball and how to win.
The worst part about Todd Frazier's at bats is he hasn't hit the ball hard very often. Too many K's and popups. Those are killers.

6. Didi Gregorius (L)
7. Chase Headley (S) 1B
8. Todd Frazier (R) 3B
9. Tyler Wade (L) 2B
First off, Caleb gaSmith is starting and not Cessa. Wade is at second base. Clint Frazier, Aaron Judge, and Gary Sanchez batting 2,3 and 4.
*****POSTERS TAKE NOTE*****
To differentiate between Clint Frazier and Todd Frazier lets use 'Frazier' or 'Clint' as referring to Clint Frazier, and until he earns his stripes use 'Toad' for Todd Frazier.
Good call wolfie. Several already use Toad. Hope he earns a change.
Yankees wanting to get a good look see on Smith today? Hope so, and I he does well.
1-0 Yankees after one. Gardner lead off HR and Smith 1,2,3 first.
After three great innings Smith crashes and burns in fourth allowing four runs with two outs as Mariners produce when it counts while Yankees score three runs on solo HRs and nary a hit when it counts. Trail 4-3 adter 4.
Yankees take 6-4 lead after 6 on when it counts hits from Gardner and Frazier, then an epic popout by Sanchez with the bags full and less than 2 out.
Chad green with a perfect outing today, stopping the bleeding in the fourth and scoreless fifth and sixth as Yankee take lead. Seven up seven down.
Toad K's in 7th with man on 3rd and less than 2 outs.
That is 2 consecutive innings Yankees fail to score runs with outs when it counts. These are the events when wins are determined over the season.
Betances with a strong 1,2,3 seventh. Yanks lead 6-4 after 7.
Yanks lead 6-4 after 7.
I know the Mariners Gamel would not look the way he does if he was still a Yankee, but my impression of him is he has little character. That probably tends to illustrate why he chooses to look like a long haired, maggot infested, dirt bag.
