In traveling the country and talking with baseball fans, the questions I get the most are 1.why the WIN METHOD and 2.what makes the WIN METHOD so successful? Most WIN METHOD fans know the answer to these questions already having been followers of the WIN METHOD for many years now. For the skeptics and new fans coming to this blog, I will speak to these questions here. Unfortunately many so many fans of baseball have been dumbed down as to why baseball is played and the desired results sought by most ownership. These dumbed down fans idolize individual statistics. They create and manufacture statistics which tell you little to nothing regarding a players ability to help his team win. In particular, defensive statistics that erroneously measure range of a fielder are totally worthless and are used only by the most ignorant fans of the game. Individual statistics for a hitter tell what a hitter is capable of doing. These stats can tell a hitters propensity for getting a hit, hitting a home run, driving in runs, scoring runs, etc. These individual statistics however, do not tell of the players ability to do what is needed to help his team WIN. A player can be the greatest individually while not being the greatest using the WIN METHOD. Baseball is the ultimate team game. A player scores a run because a team mate may knock him in, a hitter may get an RBI because a team mate got on base to be knocked in. Hitting for a high average is nice, but when you get a hit is usually far more important. Lets talk pitchers for a moment. There are two kinds of statistics for pitchers, those that are strictly individual to the pitcher and those that determine how the team fares. A pitchers job is to WIN or for a bullpen pitcher to hold and or save a game. As the pitchers earn these stats, they are directly related to what their team mates do on the field to allow them to get into the position of earning these individual stats. However, a caveat to a pitchers stat is that a pitchers stat can be directly related to the teams stats. The individual pitchers statistics that only deal with the pitcher himself in the big picture are then relatively meaningless. Wins, holds, and saves are the true measurement of a pitchers ability to help his team succeed. The more wins, holds, and saves the pitching staff earn, the more wins the team earns. And wins is why baseball is played. If you learn anything from the WIN METHOD, learn that wins is why baseball is played. Nothing else matters. Getting back to hitters. A hitter who hits .280 can be more valuable to his team than a .310 hitter on another team. A player with 85 RBIs can be more valuable to his team than a player on another team with 120 RBIs. How can this be? This can be because it is not the individual amassing of personal numbers that matter, it is when these numbers are achieved that matters....For example, a grand slam HR in the eight inning of a game your team is winning 11-2 is meaningless for the team and the end result of the game, but it really adds to the individual players personal stats. While a sacrifice fly in the eight inning to help your team win a one run game can be far more valuable to the team in that it helped the team win the game. I can go on forever, but hopefully you get the gist of the WIN METHOD. The WIN METHOD measures players on their ability to help their team win and solely on their ability to help their tam win. The best of the best players in todays game are the players who help their team to the most playoffs, pennants, and World Series rings.

Lets recap last night. Colon goes 8 innings allows 3 hits and 0 runs leaving ahead 1-0. Rivera blows the save in the 9th. Yanks use Ayala, Logan and Noesi to go through 15 innings and score 3 runs in the 15th on a 2 run triple from Cano. Dickerson gets beaned in the 15th and gets pinch run for by AJ. Nunez who started the game at ss while Jeter is the DH hat to go to RF to replace Dickerson and Jeter plays SS in the 15th. Jeter gets 2 more hits. Final Yanks 4 O's 1. Just under 5 hours.
Colon has been fantastic and the staff has been really hanging tough for the most part. It's the hitting that has hurt the most.
A win is a win. Two in a row. CC for three tonight.
The Oriole pitcher Guthrie who finished last nights game is their starter today. Plus they used everyone in their bullpen. we have CC starting and Robertson and Joba, both who did not pitch last night available.
We still aren't playing as well as we should be playing. Need to straighten up and fly right.
Tonight should be easy compared to last night. But you never know.
We had our run of losses, now the run of wins in double.
Win tonight and three games at home with the mutts.
The Mets get lucky, they miss Colon and CC. Lets win tonight first.

Jeter sets the table with a stinging double into the right field corner to start a five run first inning rally. Finish it off guys.
10-0 Yanks after 5. Please, no more meaningless runs.
A 13-2 laugher led by the Captain. Now three games at home with the cross town rival New York mongrels. AKA the mutts.
We just need to keep winning. Maybe we have turned the corner and the bottom has been hit. Sweep the mutts.
The Mets get lucky, they will face our 3,4,5 starters and get to miss CC and Colon. Maybe our bats have awoken.
Interesting fact from last nights game. The Yankees played the ninth inning with catcher Fransisco Cervelli behind the plate, catcher Russell Martin at third base and catcher Jorge Posada at first base.
Good catch AAA. I wonder if it ever happened before. Three catchers on the field at one time has to be very very rare.
Prediction: We will hit the Mets, early, often and hard in all three games for a sweep.
I can live with that Yankeeforever. Let the pounding begin and the mets fans cry.

IF we don't make the playoffs this year, we can all look back at these games over the past month or so and know why. Clutchless hitting, blown saves, miserablew hitting WHEN it matters and so on.
AJ tonight. We have to take these next two games. Garcias game wasted last night as the bats can't produce.
Last nights game was atrocious. We couldn't even mount a threat on the three met relievers. We hardly even hit the ball off them. Shake up things and bat Tex and Arod 8th and 9th.
Swisher looks like he needs a wake up call. He looked terrible at the plate last night. 3Ks.
Is the bad element of not playing WIN METHOD baseball infiltrating the Yankees? In other words, is Arod corrupting the team?
I know there is documentation how Arod has hurt teams he played for over his career. He did win a WS with the Yankees, but during his team with the Yankees, he has not been the main player, but more of an albatross.
I don't think we can blame Arod alone for our struggles so far this year, but don't get me wrong, I wish he was not on the team.
One thing for sure, Arod, for what he produces to help his team win, is the most over paid player in all of baseball.
Arod has helped win us games, but so did Aaron Boone and Scot Brocius. I would take Brocius in a heart beat over Ard, offensively and defensively and then go out and get a quality starter for the salary difference. Arod is not close to being worth what he is paid.
Lets just get the win tonight and tomorrow. Maybe Arod will help.
We lost the broom amongst the bats with holes in them. We need to take these next two games.
Right now the way several of the other players are performing it would be hard to blame Arod for everything. Lets just start playing as a team and win as a team.
Overpaid and under produces, that is my opinion of Arod.

Except for Jeter, all runs in the last two games were via home runs. We need to win today a get a good outing from Nova.

On ARod, he is a cancer, look at what he has done over the past 20 years. Hurt every team he played for. Cheated the game by using steroids. Cheated on his wife, divorced her. No character whatsoever.

Look at this WIN METHOD fans. We are generally playing poor baseball (by our standards), yet we are virtually in first place. Think where we would be if we were playing well. The future and 28 in 11 is ahead. The good is yet to come.
Something overlooked by the Jeter haters and much of the baseball world. With his next stolen base, Jeter will become the all-time Yankee stolen base leader. And 3000 hits in the same season. Five World Series ring and another on the way. How great is this guy.

It was nice seeing some really cheap hits finding eyes. They only make up for the line drive outs once in a while. Lets take the Jays to the taxidermist.

From the rotation matchups, it looks like Nova gets queen felix.
Girardi, on the post game interview yesterday, spoke about how this road trip could be very uplifting and could make the team more cohesive, particularly after the last two wins over the Jays. Lets hope so.

BC was a little off today but hung tough and is still in line for the win with Yanks leading 4-3 after seven.
Yanks up 5-3 with Mo coming in for the save in the 9th.
Mo struggles but earns the save and the Yankees win. Finish with a 6-3 road trip and head home with a game lead a day off and then three with the bosux.

Hughes is a great example of why the Yankee franchise is the greatest. Hughes has a problem, the Yankees get him the most sophisticated and finest medical diagnosis and shut him down completely. after all the findings are in and evaluated they bring him back slowly and methodically. Hope he comes back better than his 18 game wins of last year.

Last night negatives. 1. Garcia had nothing and lost the game in the first inning. 2. Afraud came up a complete zero again, 0-5 in a big game. 3. Lineup did little. Positives 1. Noesi was fantastic. Do not be surprised to see 67% to 75% of the pitching staff being home grown in the next couple of years. 2. Jeter two more big hits.
Would love to see Nova do well tonight. Maybe Noesis great outing last night will wake challenge him. Bench Arod.

It would be nice if 32K/yr gets a hit to keep a rally moving or start one. Nova does need to give us a great effort tonight in conjunction with the lineup scoring runs.
