In traveling the country and talking with baseball fans, the questions I get the most are 1.why the WIN METHOD and 2.what makes the WIN METHOD so successful? Most WIN METHOD fans know the answer to these questions already having been followers of the WIN METHOD for many years now. For the skeptics and new fans coming to this blog, I will speak to these questions here. Unfortunately many so many fans of baseball have been dumbed down as to why baseball is played and the desired results sought by most ownership. These dumbed down fans idolize individual statistics. They create and manufacture statistics which tell you little to nothing regarding a players ability to help his team win. In particular, defensive statistics that erroneously measure range of a fielder are totally worthless and are used only by the most ignorant fans of the game. Individual statistics for a hitter tell what a hitter is capable of doing. These stats can tell a hitters propensity for getting a hit, hitting a home run, driving in runs, scoring runs, etc. These individual statistics however, do not tell of the players ability to do what is needed to help his team WIN. A player can be the greatest individually while not being the greatest using the WIN METHOD. Baseball is the ultimate team game. A player scores a run because a team mate may knock him in, a hitter may get an RBI because a team mate got on base to be knocked in. Hitting for a high average is nice, but when you get a hit is usually far more important. Lets talk pitchers for a moment. There are two kinds of statistics for pitchers, those that are strictly individual to the pitcher and those that determine how the team fares. A pitchers job is to WIN or for a bullpen pitcher to hold and or save a game. As the pitchers earn these stats, they are directly related to what their team mates do on the field to allow them to get into the position of earning these individual stats. However, a caveat to a pitchers stat is that a pitchers stat can be directly related to the teams stats. The individual pitchers statistics that only deal with the pitcher himself in the big picture are then relatively meaningless. Wins, holds, and saves are the true measurement of a pitchers ability to help his team succeed. The more wins, holds, and saves the pitching staff earn, the more wins the team earns. And wins is why baseball is played. If you learn anything from the WIN METHOD, learn that wins is why baseball is played. Nothing else matters. Getting back to hitters. A hitter who hits .280 can be more valuable to his team than a .310 hitter on another team. A player with 85 RBIs can be more valuable to his team than a player on another team with 120 RBIs. How can this be? This can be because it is not the individual amassing of personal numbers that matter, it is when these numbers are achieved that matters....For example, a grand slam HR in the eight inning of a game your team is winning 11-2 is meaningless for the team and the end result of the game, but it really adds to the individual players personal stats. While a sacrifice fly in the eight inning to help your team win a one run game can be far more valuable to the team in that it helped the team win the game. I can go on forever, but hopefully you get the gist of the WIN METHOD. The WIN METHOD measures players on their ability to help their team win and solely on their ability to help their tam win. The best of the best players in todays game are the players who help their team to the most playoffs, pennants, and World Series rings.

Hope we didn't waste to many runs yesterday. A lot of production when we didn;t need it. But it is nice to get an easy win once in a while. saves the bullpen a bit.

Yanks lead Brewers 4-1 after 4 on a Russell Martin 3 run HR. Arod comes up empty in the 1st and 3rd with runners in scoring position both times leaving 3 on base.
Done. Yankees win 5-2. AJ seven very strong innings. Robertson in the eighth and Mo in the ninth close it out. Another series win.
Go for the sweep tomorrow.

It's over. A 5-1 Yankee win with tack on runs in the 8th and 9th. Yes, Arod did it again. The most meaningless RBI of the game in the 9th for the final run after game had been decided. Robertson, Noesi, and Rivera finish off the 8th and 9th.
We have won five series in a row and if we win Saturday or Sunday it will be six in a row. Solid WIN METHOD baseball.

In retrospect, last nights game was essentially over after the first three Yankee batters hit safely. Colon today. If he comes back the same as he left, we will be in good shape.

Solid win yesterday against the mets best pitcher. Good old Sergio Mitre comes in and gives up the only runs of the game to the mets. As long as he doesn't pitch in crucial situations.

Pena blows game defensively in the 9th and 10th. saved in the 9th by gardner throwing third out at the plate. Unless you are brain dead, anyone can see just how great defensively Derek Jeter is and is the best defensive shortstop in baseball. Thankfully he is back at the position he owns tomorrow in cleveland.

We gave one away yesterday. Just goes to show just how great Jeter is at shortstop. Unfortunately he is ridiculed by those forum fools who do not know baseball. Jeter, very simply has been the greatest player in baseball over the past 20 years. Rebound and win today guys. George eill love that as he watches from the best seats in the house.

Yankees get first hits of game as Tex, Cano, and Swisher deliver around Afrauds weak whiff for two runs. Afraud gets in way of Gardner on a foul pop which would end the inning, then AJ cracks. Indians up 4-2. Arod sucks, but the stat fools will blame Jeters return to the lineup for the loss.
It's over, Tribe wins 6-3 getting two insurance runs in the eighth. Arod cost team another game and won't even be charged with an error. Comes up empty all night at the plate, and is very possibly the worst popup fielder in MLB.
Yanks let the Boss down. CC to get us even tomorrow. Maybe Arod will be given a day of rest.

CC tomorrow. AJ deserved a better faith. But he is the one who gave up the hits that lost the game. And it was Arod who put him into a position he should never have been in. That is why wins is what matters and stats are for frauds like Arod who gets no error for costing his team the game, but the fans who know baseball, know better.

CC dominating again. 9-0 Yankees in the 8th. Jeter has more meaningful RBIs in two games than Arod has had in the past ten days. Defensive play of game, yes, by Jeter, going up the middle and throwing out runner on a piroute throw.
After last nights superb effort from CC and Derek Jeter again providing the leadership with a massive two run double to left center, Phil Hughes is on stage tonight. Colon came back ready, Jeter came back ready, and now its Phils turn. Five solid innings, yes I'll take five.
Hughes gets to pitch the rubber game of the series. We haven't lost a series in almost a month. Good luck and come back strong Phil.
It is an interesting time for Hughes to start. His next start if all goes well won't be until after the All Star game. Throw strike Phil, throw strikes.

No bats again. Shutout for eight innings then score after games is essentially lost. Hughes did far better than he did in his early season starts. Had a rough first giving up two runs, but those were the only runs he gave up pitching five full innings. Still reaching 92/93 in the fifth. He wasn't as sharp as he could have been. Next start not until after the All Star break.
First series loss after seven in row. Need to rebound vs the Rays this weekend. Everyone watch the games this weekend. Jeter will get his 3000th hit. What greatness from the best MLB player over the past two decades.
You can't win when you don't score runs. Several long Yankee hard hit outs to the deepest part of the park tonight. Hughes hung tough. Should be better next out. giving up two runs in five innings is not really that bad and any pitcher would have lost when his team doesn't score any runs for eight innings.
Bounce back win with Colon tonight as we all watch the Captain go for his milestone which he himself describes as of noimportance unless the team wins.
Enjoy the weekend Yankee fans. Derek Jeter will accomplish something no other Yankee in the history of baseball has done, and none will ever do in the future. 3000 hits. Think of all the great Yankee names in the history of baseball who could not accomplish this feat. More importantly however, Derek Jeter has led his team to more playoffs, pennants, and WS titles than any other player over the past two decades. One of the greatest players in the history of the game and the greatest shortstop of all time. Particularly defensively.
