THE 2026 BASEBALL SEASON -- 162 GAMES TO PLAYOFFS
Here we are 23 games into the 2026 season with a 14-9 record. At this point I feel very comfortable in saying the Yankees will make the playoffs, and win the AL East division. The YANKEE win total for the regular season should be about 101 wins. I broke the season into thirds, with 54 games in each third. Because the YANKEE starting pitching is just getting better and better with disabled list pitchers returning. Cole and Rodon will be back very soon, and I am not counting on Schmidt at this point in time. I am also looking forward for Volpe's return, returning as an improved hitter and fielder. Watch and see for yourself.
Now let me break down the three 54 game thirds into actual win/loss numbers. Remember WIN METHOD fans, wins are the only number in baseball that determines the best players and teams. Frist third, I went with a low 27-27 record. For the middle third, with Cole and Rodon's return, with Fried, Schlittler, Warren, Gil, and Weathers available, look for the bullpen being better also, with Cruz, Bednar, Headrick, and Hill being the top holdovers. I am not even mentioning Schmidt's return. Middle third record 36-18. Then we come to the final third of games. With the strength of the roster and the strength of the YANKEE minor leaguers, look for the YANKEES to make deals, if needed, to upgrade the lineup. The final third is the race to the finish line and the playoffs. Record 38-16. That will make for a 101-61 won/loss record. Not to shabby.

Spencer Jones has just hit his first MLB HR with a runner on. Dead center rocket. 2-0 Yanks.
Observations after three innings. Score tied 2-2. Cole struggling, not sharp, throwing too many pitches. Volpe cooked, can't hit and fielding slipping again.
Yankee production when it matters most, abysmal over first four innings.
Cole out after just four innings in a very poor start. Leaves with 2-2 tie.
2-2 after 6.
Jazz 8th inning homer for a 3-2 lead. Can bullpen hold it?

Final. Yankees win 3-2. Jones 2 run HR and Chisholm solo HR for all the runs. Cole weak tonight, gives up both Indian runs in just 4 innings. Bullpen goes 5 scoreless innings. Doval gets win and Cruz brilliant with a five out save when it mattered most.

Final. Yankees win 8-4. Rodon went six innings allowing 3 runs and earned the win. Headrick worked a scoreless 7th. Yarbrough went the 8th and 9th allowing 1 run. Eight of the nine Yankee starters got hits, only catcher Sanchez did not, but he did record a walk. Rbi's from Chisholm 3, Caballeros 2, Volpe 1, and Goldschmidt 1, 1 runs scoring on an Indian error. Indians took 2 of 3, 10-12 days ago at the Stadium, Yanks sweep the Indians in Cleveland. Off day tomorrow.
Next up, a three game weekend series in Toronto. Weathers, Schlittler, Warren.

Democrats voted against the amendment to attach the SAVE America Act to the immigration bill, and they were joined by four Republican senators: Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Thom Tillis of North Carolina. The four Republicans had previously joined Democrats to block a version of the SAVE America Act in April.

Final. Yankees win 3-1. Dominguez solo HR and Goldschmidt ninth inning game winning HR the Yankee runs. Schlittler goes seven innings allowing the only Blue Jay run on a solo HR. Cruz struggled through a scoreless 8th leaving the bases loaded as he walked three batters and earned the win. Bednar made up for Cruz with a no drama 1, 2, 3 strikeout 9th for the save.
Yankees produced when it mattered most and the Blue Jays failed when it mattered most this afternoon allowing the Yankees to win 3-1 and even the series at one game for each team. Rubber game tomorrow.
A win like todays just balances the books when Yanks lose the same way.

Final. Yankees win 10-5. Rodon went five innings allowing 3 runs and earned the win. But he was in trouble every inning, was hit very hard giving up seven hits and several outs were very hard hit and if they had fallen in the game could have been a different story. The bullpen went the last four innings, with Headrck perfect, and Blackburn and Bird each allowing a run. Offensively, for the second straight night every Yankee starter got a hit. Every Yankee starter scored a run except Rice, and six Yankee starters had rbi's. Yankees take the series with the White Sox and will play for the sweep tomorrow,
My section (412) was taken over tonight by Scottish fans visiting for the World Cup. Chants and singing from the 5th inning onward. They were chanting USA USA USA USA . The visitors from across the globe love America more than the damn democrats do. What a party! Go Yankees! Go USA!

Final. Yankees lose 5-1. Yankee offense played a very lack luster game. McMahon HR only Yankee run. Weathers deserved better going 6 1/3 innings allowing only a solo HR. Bullpen crashed and burned. Cruz takes the loss but it was not all his fault. Hill came in with a man on second and and hit the first two batters he faced to load bases with no outs. Stuck out a batter and was replaced with Doval who promptly gave up a grand slam on first pitch he threw and that was that. Ugly loss.

Warren implodes in fifth then crashes and burns giving up five runs putting Yankees in a 6-1 hole.
The Yankees get clobbered, the best way to lose. Warren and bullpen get bombed with Warren taking the loss in the 10-2 rout. Lineup when they had their chances failed miserably, although it may not have made no difference except in the final score.
Final. Yankees lose 10-2. Nothing to say except forget about it. No pitching nor hitting from the Yanks in any shape or form. Warren takes the loss. That's it.
