THE 2026 BASEBALL SEASON -- 162 GAMES TO PLAYOFFS

Here we are 23 games into the 2026 season with a 14-9 record.  At this point I feel very comfortable in saying the Yankees will make the playoffs, and win the AL East division.  The YANKEE win total for the regular season should be about 101 wins.  I broke the season into thirds, with 54 games in each third.  Because the YANKEE starting pitching is just getting better and better with disabled list pitchers returning.  Cole and Rodon will be back very soon, and I am not counting on Schmidt at this point in time.  I am also looking forward for Volpe's return, returning as an improved hitter and fielder.  Watch and see for yourself.

Now let me break down the three 54 game thirds into actual win/loss numbers.  Remember WIN METHOD fans, wins are the only number in baseball that determines the best players and teams.  Frist third, I went with a low 27-27 record.  For the middle third, with Cole and Rodon's return, with Fried, Schlittler, Warren, Gil, and Weathers available, look for the bullpen being better also, with Cruz, Bednar, Headrick, and Hill being the top holdovers.  I am not even mentioning Schmidt's return.  Middle third record 36-18.  Then we come to the final third of games.  With the strength of the roster and the strength of the YANKEE minor leaguers, look for the YANKEES to make deals, if needed, to upgrade the lineup.  The final third is the race to the finish line and the playoffs. Record 38-16.  That will make for a 101-61 won/loss record.  Not to shabby.

This blog, your blog, the fans blog is moving slowing but surely to the three billion views level.  You, the most intelligent and knowledgeable baseball fans in the world are making this all happen.  More baseball fans, each day are learning and realizing that WINS are the only stat in all of baseball that matters, and the only stat that counts in determining who are the best players and teams.   Fans from all over the world read this blog everyday.  As a matter of fact, the WIN METHOD blog had a fan visit from a country I didn't know existed.  I had to look it up.  Burkina Faso.

As always, thank you all, every last one of you, with sincere and fond memories, to those fans who have passed away, to the original WIN METHOD fans, to the fans who have come on board along the way, to the newest fans, and to the fans yet to join all of you and the WIN METHOD blog.  THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH and LETS GO YANKEES.

The offense has got to get the job done. The team is losing games they shouldn't because the offense have not produced when it mattered.

Lets go Yankees.

Goldschmidt leads off the game with HR on first pitch. Hope we score more than one run. How about scoring just enough to win, whatever it takes.

Third straight start Fried has struggled. Getting hit hard. Hope it is just a blip. Yanks trail O's 3-0 thru 3.

Fried has given up three runs in three innings and Yankee bats doing nothing so far.

Fried after third inning leaves field and goes down dugout steps right into the clubhouse. Something is wrong.

First word on Fried. Left elbow posterior soreness. Hope that is all there is. LIkely out for a couple of starts. -- 10 day DL? Also, Yanks down 7-0 thru six.

Final. Yankees lose 7-0. Bat dead as a door nail. Pitching not good. Volpe back and makes error in first game. Fried leave with elbow issues after three innings. Bad day, bad week.

Yankee seventh inning of pathetic failure. Load bases with no outs, ex-Yankee comes in and K, K, ground out. The worst kind of failure when it matters most.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 6-3. Rodon take a well-deserved loss; he was awful and was out of game in 4th inning. The offense was the biggest culprit failing over and over when it mattered most. The biggest single event was in the 7th inning, with the bases loaded and no one out the Yankees failed to score, with only one of the three outs being by a batted ball. Series even, with rubber game tomorrow.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 5-4. Warren goes five innings with one bad inning giving up 3 runs. The runs were scored on soft hit balls that found grass. Yankees scored on McMahon 3 run HR and Rice 2 run HR. Bullpen worked final four innings, Hill, Bird, and Headrick worked the 6th thru 8th innings without giving up a run. Doval pitched the 9th and was shaky as heck and made the last three outs nail biting. Gave up a run, tying run on third but got the last out on a ground ball for the save. Yankees take the first two games of this series.

Phil Jenkins said...

We got two big hits when it mattered most, and the bullpen got the outs when it mattered most. The players and teams that produce when it matters most win games. The Yankees won the game tonight. That is the WIN METHOD.

Steve(winstheonlystat) said...

Rodon starts tonight's game. I am a bit disappointed with his performance so far. After coming back from surgery and beginning the road back to pitching competitively, he has made several starts in minor league games, slowly building his pitch count, arm strength, and regaining control. When he was assumed ready, he was added to the Yankee roster and has made two starts. Neither start was good nor encouraging. He threw a lot of pitches, was hit hard, and walked too many batters. He pitches like that tonight and the Yankees won't have much chance unless the lineup comes alive and scores big time.

How many of you have heard of Graham Platner. He is running for a US Senator seat in the great state of Maine. Graham Platner is the 'rat' in demonrat. He specifically hates Jewish people and people smart enough who believe in freedom and the American way. His bosom buddy is the lowlife degenerate socialist communist Bernie Sanders.

Graham Platner is the new darling of the most criminally corrupt politicians in America. Every one of these politicians are part of the 'in name only' democrat party. The old democrat party is now the party best known as dumocrats, demonrats, radical left-wingers, socialists, communists, liberals, progressives, that are doing everything they can to destroy our county, America, the greatest country in the world.

Voters in Maine, please help save your state, your country, do not vote, do not even think about it, for Graham Platner. VOTE FOR SUSAN COLLINS -- she is not perfect, but she will represent you. Stanley Chin said...

It feels like Judge and Cole finally each got their sidekick with Rice and Schlittler. Like Robin to their Batman.

And somehow an amazing third option Bellinger and Fried.

This team has the stuff, just need to execute and produce when it matter most.

Todays Yankee lineup

Ryan Weathers LHP

T Grisham (L) CF
B Rice (L) DH
A Judge (R) RF
C Bellinger (L) LF
J Chisholm Jr. (L) 2B
P Goldschmidt (R) 1B
R McMahon (L) 3B
A Wells (L) C
A Volpe (R) SS

Looks like Goldschmidt's hot bat and when it matters most production has earned more playing time. Don't overwork the old guy.☺️

Lets go Yankees.

Yankees again with no support for Weathers, failing to produce when it mattered most every opportunity they had. Yankees down 5-1 after seven.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 6-4. Yanks load bases in ninth, then Rice rbi walk. Judge rbi walk. Bellinger rbi walk. Chisholm grounds out. Yanks score 3 runs and game is over. Weathers takes the loss, giving up three home runs.

A Volpe (R) SS
M Schuemann (R) 2B
A Wells (L) C

Rubber game of this series. A win means a step forward, a loss means a step backwards. Failure to produce when it matters most means losses, producing when it matters most means wins.

Yankees score 13 runs in 3rd inning. 18 batters came to the plate. Only 3 made outs. Time to start laughing. Should be a fun flight back to NY.⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾

You want to talk about a crazy game. How about today's game. The Yankees in 8 of the 9 innings went 3 up 3 down never putting a man on base. On the other hand, the A's scored 8 runs on 12 hits and 1 Yankee error that allowed 3 unearned runs. Score or game - Yankees won 13-8. What the hey? Yes, the Yankees scored 13 runs in the 3rd inning sending 18 batters to the plate. They had 4 walks and 11 hits that add to 15 men reaching base, the other 3 recorded the outs.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 13-8. Weird game. Warren goes six innings allowing 3 unearned runs and looked great again. Bullpen horrid allowing 5 runs in 3 innings. The Yankees scored all their runs in one inning, the 3rd. Every man in the lineup batted twice. Everyone contributed. The other eight innings, not one Yankee reached base. Yanks take series 2 games to 1, take road trip 5 games to 1. Now head home with a day off tomorrow.

Jill Byrnes said...

Yes, a very strange game, but the win is all that matters.

Cory said...

I was just going back and trying to put yesterdays game into context. I was likely a one in lifetime game for every baseball fan. Come to bat in eight innings and record no runs and not hits. Your pitchers give up eight runs and you still win. Just think if the Yankees only scored a few runs in that inning, we would be talking about losing the series and how pitiful a loss it was. Simply an amazing odd game for the story book.

Tom Wilson said...

Yankees open homestand with a three game series against the Cleveland Indians. The Yankee starters will be, drum roll please, Schlittler, Cole, and Rodon.

Schlittler off tonight. Being hit hard and has allowed a double, triple, and home run for 3 runs thru 4 innings.

Victor Bruno said...

Yankees scoring, but Schlittler keeps giving runs back. His worst game of the season. Goes 4 1/3 trails 5-4 and men on 2nd and 3rd his responsibility with one out. ☹️

candycane said...

Yanks down 5-4 after 5.

Richard Moustakis said...

Yankees with a horrid game tonight. Go down 9-4. No pitching, no hitting, no defense. Ugly loss.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 9-4. Schlittler with his worst game as a MLB starter. 4 1/3 innings, 5 runs and takes the loss. He was hit hard and seemed to have little to nothing tonight. The offense was one person, Goldschmidt. Goldy had all 4 Yankee rbis, a 2 run HR and a rbi double. The Yanks still had a chance when the bullpen came into the game, down by just one run at 5-4. Bullpen gave up 4 runs while 8 Yankee bats were silent. Bad games happen.

Jeff Miller said...

Last night that was the hardest I have ever seen Schlittler hit on a consistent basis. It started in the first inning and never stopped. Hope it is only an off game. I've seen some of the greatest pitchers in baseball history have a game like that. Every one of them.

Final. Yankees lose 5-4. Another Yankee starter fails as Cole gives up 3 home runs accounting for 3 runs for the loss. Caballero and Chisholm with solo HRs and Bellinger with two sacfly rbi's. Not enough. Horrid series which is lost. Rodon tomorrow to try to not get swept.

Raul Vasquez said...

Day game today. Maybe the Yankees will see the light and win.

Yanks win 2-1. Another win for the team that produced most when it mattered most. Both starters went six inning and both left with a 1-1 and no decisions. Yankee bullpen wins out with three scoreless innings to two for the Indians.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 2-1. Avoid being swept by the Tribe. Rodon went six great innings allowing 1 run and kept Yankees in game. Hendrick with a scoreless 7th earned the win. Cruz with a scoreless 8th earned a hold. Bednar with a no drama 1,2,3 9th earned a save. Chisholm with a sacfly rbi for Yankee first run, the a walk, stolen base and scores winning run on McMahon game winning rbi single in 7th. bosux in town this weekend for three game series. Lets win that series.

bigbadwolf said...

Awfully bad news regarding Aaron Judge. Looks like best case scenario he may be back around September 1st. Pitching should still be good enough to make playoffs. Judge's loss is losing the best baseball player in the game. The best of the best can't be replaced.

Yanks go down 5-3. Offense looked lifeless. Yankee starters are going to have to pitch 1 or 2 run games to have a chance to win the way the offense is going.

Grisham rbi single for insurance run, Chisholm 3 run HR for the icing on the cake. Schlittler 5 2/3 allowing 1 run. Bullpen, Headrick, Cruz, Hill, Bednar go 3 1/3 shutout innings as Hill earns the win. Needed this game.
