WIN METHOD --- 2023 SEASON -- FINAL RUN TO THE PLAYOFFS WHERE ONLY THE BEST TEAMS AND BEST PLAYERS PLAY

Less than half the season to play.  So much to be decided.   Many teams vying for playoff positions in each league.  Three divisions in each league, each division winner makes the playoffs and then the next three teams with the best win/loss records also make the playoffs.  Only WINS determines which teams go to the playoffs.  WINS are the only statistic which determines the best teams and the best players.

The YANKEES are one of the teams in the chase at this point in the season.  The YANKEES, the team with the most player time lost to injuries, by a very large margin, over any other team in MLB.  No question, every team has player injuries and loses players for periods of time, but no other team has had as many players injured and missed games as the YANKEES.

What are the YANKEE chances of making the playoffs with about seventy games yet to play?  We will find out over the two and a half months.  If some of the key injured players can return and contribute, that would make a difference. As with every team, it will be determined only by WINS.  I believe if the YANKEES make the playoffs, will have a very good chance at advancing through the playoffs and winning the WORLD SERIES.   I bet none of the teams vying for the playoffs are giving up, the players on those teams are not giving up, and the WIN METHOD YANKEE fans are not giving up, because when you give up, you give yourself no chance at all.  It has been said many times, by many posters, the YANKEES will play over, under, around and thru any and all obstacles and roadblocks thrown in front of them.

It has been great to see YANKEE STADIUM filled with fans each game during this season, games have always been pretty nor turned out well for YANKEE fans and more so for the team.  Don't give up, with enough WINS the YANKEES can still make the playoffs.  If they do. watch out for them in the playoffs.  Stay positive and say it often LETS GO YANKEES.

I would like to express by sincere thanks for all you fans who read and post here on the WIN METHOD blog.  You all have made it the greatest forum, blog, or site for YANKEE fans in the world.  In just several days this blog will reach over one billion six hundred million views. Thank you all for being the greatest fans and most knowledgeable fans in the world.

Louie Louie does it again. Sets his bar ever lower. Gives up seven runs in first inning and pretty much takes his team out of the game. Just don't give up guys.

Boston/Yankee said...

Louie Louie has done this too many times now. Will Boone do the right thing, use common sense, and not start him again, or will he cave to his foolish tendencies?

Yanks down 7-1 after 3.

Antonious said...

Trailing 9-3 after six innings. Severino is not helping with starts like tonight. Sort of rips the heart right out of you.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 9-3. Louie Louie was pathetic horrid, giving up 7 runs in the first inning and all 9 runs the Orioles scored in just 3 1/3 innings. Marinaccio and Abreu pitched the final 4 2/3 innings giving up 0 runs, just 2 hits and 1 walk. How about the lineup, they did score 3 runs, Bauers solo HR and RBI single, Bader RBI single. Now get this, the Yankees struck out 18 times. That means for six innings or 2/3 of the game the lineup did not put the ball in play. Horrendous. Horrid and horrendous in one short summary of tonight's game. In a word that is pathetic. Enough said.

coryankee said...

The best thing I could say about tonight's game, I didn't have to sweat it. In will-i-am's words, HORRID, HORRENDOUS, PATHETIC.

Next up. Rays in for three game series, M,T,W.

Yankeeforever said...

Boone said in an interview after last night's game how great the lineup was doing and how they put great presser on the Oriole's starter last night. That is right after striking out 18 times. What a disgrace.

Larry Kennedy said...

Has Boone EVER criticized a player??? EVER??? We have players who do not run out ground balls, do not hustle, we had 18 strikeouts last night, we have had bonehead base running, and other failures. Nothing is ever said. I don't care if he mentions something to players in private. Say it so the fans know where you stand and what you will do about it. Wokeism is a cancer and it is killing America in every which way possible.

Todays Yankee lineup.

Jhony Brito R

Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
Aaron Judge (R) DH
Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B
Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
Jake Bauers (L) LF
Harrison Bader (R) CF
Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Ben Rortvedt (L) C

Big stage for Brito tonight. Five scoreless innings would be magnificent. Judge DH. Every game is a big game for each team for the rest of the season until eliminated from earning a playoff spot.

Benny Pake said...

One inning and Yankees trail 2-0.

candycane said...

Yankees down 5-1 after 4.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 5-1. Brito started for German who had 'armpit' pain. Brito pitched four innings giving up 4 home runs and 5 runs. Believe it or not, German comes in for the fifth inning and pitches five scoreless innings. What in heck is going on. Lone Yankee run on Bauers home run. Bats terrible again.

Tom Wilson said...

Another poor loss. Well, the Yankees have two months to make their case. Judge can be a force at the plate, but anyone can see he is unable to run hard, and that is bad for base running and playing the outfield. I see the look on Stanton's face and it appears he doesn't give a damn if strike outs, pops-up, or hits into a double play. He can't run, he can't field and he has a smiley smiirk has he heads back to the dugout being loudly booed. There are several teams in contention for playoff spots and I don't believe any one of them is throwing in the towel or going to just lie down and roll over. Only one way to get to the second season, and that is with winning and WINS. The stat frauds and the talking heads are fools when they talk of individual stats, exit velocity, or any stat flavor of the day. ONLY WINS WILL GET TEAMS AND PLAYERS TO THE PLAYOFFS.

John Hartnett said...

Rodon starts tonight. Huge game for him and the Yankees as we start the last two months of the regular season. We can still win this series.

Doug Parker said...

Rodon produced last time out. He should be rounding into top form after his last start and missing so much time this season. Would be big if he and then Cole throw back to back wins over the Rays. It would be nice if the lineup helped out.

Captain Lindsey Horan and forward Alex Morgan were both seen singing the anthem, while goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and midfielder Julie Ertz placed their hand across their chest as is customary during the American national anthem.

But the majority of the starting line up and coaches elected to stay silent once more, which is likely to trigger further criticism of their actions in New Zealand.

It should also trigger major criticism in the United State of America.

Rodon getting lit up, 4 runs in 3 innings and Yankees have 0.

candycane said...

Yanks down 5-0 after 6.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 5-2. Rodon went four innings, looked terrible, gave up 4 runs and took the loss. Yankee bullpen allowed just 1 run over the past five innings. Yankees scored their 2 run after 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th. With 2 runners on and 2 out, Boone sent Stanton up to pinch hit as the tying run. Stanton did what he does best, swung and missed three pitches and the game was over. Yanks hitters looked bad all game including the 9thi inning where they got a bloop double and infield roller for hits.

Frank Tagriello said...

Now we play tomorrow to not get swept. Cole starts. He didn't give up any runs last time out and the Yankees still lost.

The World Baseball Classic Is a Pile of Hot Garbage
BLEACHER REPORT

In creating the WBC, Bud Selig failed miserably. You see, a number of things need to happen in order for an athletic competition to be as competitive as possible.

First, the owners who are paying the players need to be on board with the idea. Second, the event needs to take place at a time that won’t interfere with anything else major. Last, audiences and fans worldwide need to know they are watching first class competition between athletes who will do anything to win. Alas, that is the spirit of good competition. ------ Except in the WBC, where it isn’t.

Bud Selig opted to hold this tournament literally weeks before the start of the major league season. Owners and players alike took serious issue to this. I would actually argue that the lack of a salary cap has something to do with it, because the MLB players raking in the fictional amounts of money seem to have no interest risking anything by playing in this tournament So immediately, two of the first three requirements for serious competition lie unfulfilled. The owners don’t want their great players playing, and a lot of their players agree.

To solve this, Bud Selig decided to lay down a series of rules that literally made the WBC stricter than that of the Little League World Series. Don’t believe me? Well, chew on this.

1.- In every round of the tournament, there is a limited pitch count.
2.- The number of pitches thrown directly relates to the number of days a pitcher is forced to rest...IN WHAT
IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT.
3.- The pitcher never has to bat.
4.- There is a mercy rule. No, I’m not kidding. There is a mercy rule in a tournament where nearly every
single player is getting paid to do this.

So instead of just taking anyone that was willing to play a serious competitive tournament, Selig catered to the needs of MLB owners and turned the WBC into pure garbage. For those of you keeping averages at home, the competitiveness factor is now well under the Mendoza Line.

So I assume some of you are wondering, “Why are you writing all of this now instead of three years ago?” Here’s why ----- There are other teams worldwide who are taking this significantly more seriously than the US. That actually isn’t an issue to me at all. I could care less who wins this thing because as I just stated, this isn’t a real tournament.

Zhaire said...

I blame the head coach of the USA women's team for what is happening. Whoever he/she is should just come out and say, I gave each and every player the choice of doing whatever each felt right for themselves. End of story.

Cory said...

If the Yankee lineup can't put runs on the scoreboard, it will make no difference how well the pitchers do. A so called "quality start" for a pitcher is allowing 3 runs or less and completing six innings. Thus, if every Yankee started pitched a quality start, the Yankees would still lose unless the offense scores 3 runs in every game. The Yankee have scored 3 runs or less in 50 games this season so far.

NJYANKEE said...

Rizzo update - - - Anthony Rizzo is headed to the DL with concussion symptoms, Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters before tonight's game against the Astros.

The Yankees believe Rizzo's injury stems from a May 28 collision at first base involving the Padres' Fernando Tatis Jr. in which Tatis' hip made contact with Rizzo's head as Rizzo caught a throw from the plate. Rizzo underwent tests in accordance with MLB's concussion protocol at the time of the injury and passed all tests, according to Boone, but the 13-year veteran has experienced brain fog in recent days, leading to today's decision. Rizzo has had more recent tests revealing cognitive impairment.

Weird, no symptoms after the incident, but symptoms two months later?

I like this guy a lot. A younger, very aggressive, very conservative, no nonsense candidate for president in 2024. Watch what happens in the debates and he gains traction. Then the scum of the world corrupt leftwing media, liberals, progressives, and democrats will start assaulting everything about him. They will like, make up stories, pay fake informants to lie about him, you all know the drill. We could use a younger version of Trump.

Diane Stahl said...

Mike Smith, you are talking about Vivek Ramaswamy. He is my choice right after Trump.

Mike Smith said...

Diane Stahl, Thank you. Yes, Vivek Ramaswamy. I am so stupid not writing his name.

Tony Manchu said...

I'm biding my time. Will watch debates and see how things shake out and then come together. One thing for sure I will vote for whoever or whatever finally runs as a conservative republican. If a democrat wins, there will be hell to pay and very possibly the beginning of the end.

Yankeefan2 said...

What are the Yankees trying to prove or discover by starting Severino yet again tomorrow!

Grosner said...

Mike, if Ramaswamy starts gaining traction in the polls the Democrats are the last thing you should worry about. Trump will lie about him not being born in the country, make up racist nicknames for him, mock his religion like he did to Ben Carson, humiliate him for being short, call his wife ugly like he did to Ted Cruz. Who knows what else.

You are stuck with this monster unless justice is served. Enjoy!

Final. Yankees win 7-1. Schmidt goes 5 1/3 allowing the lone White Sox run and earns the win. King goes 2 2/3 scoreless innings for a hold and Loaisiga makes his MLB return fresh off the DL for a scoreless mop up ninth inning. Big hit and when it mattered most by Kiner-Falefa a 2 rbi double, a Bader rbi single and a Bauers rbi single all in the fourth inning/ In the eighth inning Higashioka a 2 run HR and Judge a solo HR for tack on insurance runs. Rubber game tomorrow.

Andy K said...

Louie Louie tonight, another chance, on a short leash, we need wins.

Mike Smith said...

Grosner, you are the one lying. As I stated, Ramaswamy may be a younger version of Trump, in his beliefs to make America great again. Let's see what happens down the road. Since you have been wrong about almost everything you have posted, I think Ramaswamy will be fine.

yankeeclipper said...

If Louie Louie has no underlying physical condition that has something to do with his pitching while he is able to throw fastballs consistently in the upper 90's. Then there is something drastically wrong with something else or a combination of something else's. If there is no movement on his fastball and it is straight almost all the time, then he needs for someone to show him how to get multiple movements on it, if that is even possible. There are pitchers whose fastball is only mid 90's and others with lower 90's that succeed because their fast balls move and batters have trouble square it up.

As it is being irrefutably proven that the Biden family has received tens of millions of dollars from countries, governments, businesses buying favors, kickbacks, etc,, people are asking what is the Biden family business.

Simple as 1,2,3. The Biden family business, is corruption, treachery, destroying America, collusion, lies, treason, and whatever any of you readers can name.

The Biden family crimes must be punished. First, confiscate every asset the Bidens own, sell it, with the proceeds going to American veterans, social security, etc. Second, the Biden family must by executed for their crimes.

Inna Svovna said...

Joe Biden and his family get all the blame. Very, very unfair to them. There is not one single leftwing, liberal, progressive democrat communist holding any political office in any town, city, county, state, of federal government any different than Joe Biden and his family. They are all corrupt, criminal, lying, scum who are only in office for their own gain, to hurt a majority of America citizens, to destroy American lives, morals, rights, and freedoms. Bury, and bury every one of those politicians including the ones on the right who hold those same disgusting values.

jimbo said...

Ian Hamilton is being used a starter tonight, not Louie Louie. That suggests a bullpen game in some shape or form. Will Louie Louie be one of those shapes or forms.

Guy Padikian said...

Todays Yankee lineup.

Ian Hamilton R

Jake Bauers (L) 1B
Aaron Judge (R) RF
Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
Billy McKinney (L) LF
DJ LeMahieu (R) 3B
Harrison Bader (R) CF
Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) SS
Kyle Higashioka (R) C

Rubber game + bullpen game + produce win it matters most, = win = a step forward.

Grosner said...

Harvey, by "irrefutably proven" Joe Biden has broken the law do you just mean his political opponents saying it or do you mean actual evidence? Because to date I have seen absolutely zero evidence and even the Republicans investigating admit they have no evidence. Sorry about people lying to you.

Having Severino pitch in relief is a good strategy to 'reset' him. Hopefully it works.

Woody/Atlanta said...

Grosner, I'll be nice, you are mistaken. The congressional committees have a vast amount of evidence and more is evidence is found every day. There are two or three different committees investigating different aspects of the Biden family criminal treason. The evidence is being knit together like a hand made lace wedding dress. When Biden is put down, I would expect that would suffice to prove enough evidence. One more thought for you, where do you think the money for the Biden families multi-million dollar lifestyle and multiple properties come from?

Harvey, adding to your list, tax evasion.

Grosner said...

Woody, that is great--and if they find evidence of crimes by Joe he should be put in jail. Simple as that.

Hopefully they are also working to find evidence of the rigged election, too. Been waiting 3 years for that!

Stan the Man said...

What difference does it make? Yankees use open so Severino will not start game and pitch first inning. Hamilton starts and pitches any easy scoreless first inning. Severino comes in for the second inning (his first) and to answer my question, -- no difference -- Severino gives up three runs on hard hit pitches putting Yankees into another hole he keeps digging for them. Severino comes out for third inning (his secons) and two more hard hit hits giving up another run. Yankees down 4-0 after three innings. Whoever decided that Severino should keep pitching with the Yankees should be fired.

Now for the big comeback.

candycane said...

Yanks down 5-1 after 6.

yankeeclipper said...

Seventh inning, Yankees do it again. Bases load no one out. Bada bing bada boom, strikeout, double play, inning over. Failure when it matters most.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 9-2. Severino humiliated again and takes loss. Yankee bats fail repeatedly. Had a great opportunity in 7th inning, down 5-2, have bases loaded and no outs, but a strikeout and a double play ends the inning pathetically. Off day tomorrow, seemingly like many of the games they have played.

Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
Harrison Bader (R) CF
Anthony Volpe (R) SS

Oswaldo Cabrera (S) LF

Ian Hamilton starts. Hamilton will be Yankee starter for two consecutive games, albeit with an off day between starts.

Norm Jackson said...

LeMahieu out again. Hamilton one inning again? That was a waste last game and it would be a waste this game, so I am taking it for granted that is what Boone will do.

Hoyle said...

From what I have seen so far this season from the Yankees, if they do not immediately upgrade their quality of play and double to triple their production when it matters most over the rest of the season, they will not make the playoffs.

Evan Donahue said...

Ian Hamilton will now be the first pitcher to start two consecutive games for his team since Wilber Wood.

Looks like Cortes is done for the season with a recurrence of the injury he just came off the DL with, and he is being placed back on the DL. So likely also done are the Yankees chances of making the playoffs.

Yanks bats come alive, lead 7-3 thru four innings.

candycane said...

Yanks up 7=4 after 7.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win 9-4. Take game one of Marlin series. IKF with rbi single. Judge solo HR. Torres rbi single. Volpe 3 run HR, Bauer rbi single, Higashioka 2 rbi single as the Yankee bats wake up. Hope it's not just for one game. Hamiltion went first two innings allowing 2 runs. Vasquez went 3 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs and earns the win. Loaisiga 1 1/3 innings shutout ball for a hold, Kahnle 1 shutout inning for a hold. Holmes for a 1,2,3 ninth to close out game.

YankeeMike said...

The Yankee hitters must have thought that Severino was pitching against them tonight. The Marlin pitcher was throwing high high 90's but the Yankee's (all) were hitting rockets all over the field scoring seven early runs for the easy win.

Raul Vasquez said...

With the starting pitching decimated, Yanks have not named a starter for tomorrow yet. Probably another bullpen type game.

Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
Billy McKinney (L) LF
Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) 3B
Harrison Bader (R) CF
Anthony Volpe (R) SS
Kyle Higashioka (R) C

King opening for Yanke3s. If the lineup does what they did last night the Yankees will win.

Eddie OConnor said...

Yankees being down starters may be trying to stretch King out a bit. He came up as a starter. We will know soon enough by seeing how long they keep him in the game today.

Victor Grandozi said...

King only goes two innings because of pitch count. Gives up 2 runs on a first inning HR.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees lose 3-1. King takes the loss giving up 2 runs in two innings. Brito goes the next five innings allowing 1 run. Middleton one scoreless innings. Yankee lineup anemic after last nights effort. One run on Kiner-Falefa when it mattered most rbi single. Series even, Cole starts tomorrow to try for series win.

Yankeefan2 said...

Yanks go down 3-1. No offense again. Me thinks the playoffs are doubtful.

The pitching from the Yankees has been very good, the losses are mainly coming from the lineup who is failing at a far to high rate. Yes folks, the teams and players who produce the most when it matters and counts the most, will win the most, and those are the teams and players who will go to the playoffs and beyond.

Billy McKinney (L) LF
Isiah Kiner-Falefa (R) 3B

Last game Cole pitched he gave up 2 runs and got the loss. Will the lineup back him up today?

Boone calling out terrible umpires is the one thing I actually like about Boone. Especially the ones who have been notoriously bad for years to the point where you wonder how they still have a job.

Woody/Atlanta said...

Hobbs, they still have jobs because incompetence and corruption comes from the top and works its way down, creeping into every facet of our culture. The criminally corrupt joe-bama/commie MALADY administration exudes criminality and corruption. The DOJ, IRS, FBI, DHS, etc., along with the entire administration and all their agencies. Billion-dollar companies, supported by the corrupt government, windmills, solar panels, electric cars, banning what is good for the American people while supporting what is bad for the American people. If you can't see it, you don't want to see it or you support it, or you are being paid to support it, you too are the problem.

So, that is why we have incompetent garbage umpires.

When Boone brought in Holmes in the 9th with a 4 run lead. I said to myself, why, and really had a bad feeling about it. As Holmes threw each pitch and faced each batter my feeling got worse, until the dribbler back to him, and it that second he threw the ball away and I knew the game was over. A terrible loss.

will-i-am said...

Ok ok, I've waited long enough, i've cooled off. FINAL! THE YANKEES LOSE 8-7. Cole goes six innings allowing 2 runs and leaves game leading 7-2. Peralta goes 1 1/3 innings allowing 1 run with Middleton going 2/3 of an inning allowing 0 runs. Eight innings complete with Yankees leading 7-3. Holmes, the closer, comes on in a non-closer situation to waste an inning on his arm. Holmes pitches to six batters, gets one out, gives up 3 hits, a walk, and puts a man on base with his throwing error. So faces six batters and five of them reach base. All five score and the Yankees lose 8-7. Yes, the Yankees scored 7 runs. Kiner-Falefa rbi single. Stanton rbi double. Volpe 2 run HR. McKinney rbi single, and Torres scores on a wild pitch. Rortvedt solo HR.
It should be real interesting to see what happens in the next three games as the Yankee play the MLB leading team, the Atlanta Braves. One Yankee win would be a grandiose accomplishment. But that is why they play the games on the field and not on paper or in minds of whoever.

Woody/Atlanta, your post, comment, and last line made my day.
