WIN METHOD --- 2018 SEASON --- PRODUCING WHEN IT COUNTS

It is here WIN METHOD fans.  Tomorrow we start the 2018 baseball season.  We start with high hopes, high pie in the sky hopes.  The goal is winning the division, making the playoffs and advancing from there as far as wins and winning can take us.

This season we appear to have improved the roster in all areas.  Adding Stanton, Walker, Drury, etc. will surely make this team better.  Having Robertson, Kahnle, and Gray for the entire season should also improve the team.  The only injury of consequence is Greg Birds bone spur, the surgery he just underwent, and him being out for about two months.  As usual we will play the hand we are dealt and overcome all roadblocks and obstacles.

We have several players at AAA Scranton chomping at the bit while blooming and growing that will be heard from and make their presence felt this season.  You know their names, Torres, Andujar, German, and others.   This 2018 Yankee team is deep, has gained confidence and experience, and has backups close at hand.

As I started to write this post I noticed a post by Cory.  I thought his post was very insightful and  positive and I didn't want it to get bypassed because of being posted in a past blog, so I am  reposting it right here now.  Thank you for your post Cory.
----- I will be doing the ten game sets and posting them here as I did last season.
Here is the sets from last season.
10. 6-4
20. 7-3 = 13-7
30. 8-2 = 21-9
40. 3-7 = 24-16
50. 6-4 = 30-20
60. 7-3 = 37-23
70. 2-8 = 39-31
80. 4-6 = 43-37
90. 4-6 = 47-43
100. 7-3 = 54-46
110. 5-5 = 59-51
120. 6-4 = 65-55
130. 5-5 = 70-60
140. 5-5 = 75-65
150. 8-2 = 83-67
160. 7-3 = 90-70
Note the sets from games 61-90. We were 10-20. That is awful baseball. Still finished 91-71. With everything else staying the same if that 30 game skid could be bettered this season to just 15-15 that would mean this season could wind up 96-66. If we improve the three 5-5 sets from last season by one game that would take this season to 99-63. And if we raise the 3-7 set to 4-6 that could take this season to 100 wins.
It will be up to the players on the field producing when it matters most, but it is surely possible.-----

It is not only Cory with great posts, it is all of your posts, every single one of you from all over the world who post your comments and views here.  And all of the readers of the WIN METHOD blog from all over the world, even if you do not post.  We have surpassed 320 million views and are getting bigger and bigger every day.  Yes, we still get some stat frauds, but they are good for us and also and serve a purpose.  The stat frauds give us a guidepost and remind us of just how meaningless and useless their individual stats are.  There is no doubt to anyone here who is a WIN METHOD fan that only wins can take a team to the playoffs.  Only wins and winning as always, do now, and always will in the future, determine the best players and teams.  THANK YOU ALL WIN METHOD FANS.

Now it is just about that time where we all stand up and cheer our team for the 2018 season!

LETS GO YANKEES

Yanks tie game at 1 in top of 6th on Judge sac fly, but as Tanaka scores he injures something and does not come out to pitch the 6th. Yes, the inferior national league is bush league.

Gardy gives us a 2 run lead with a HR after Torres single. 3-1 Yankees mid 8th.

Deb F said...

Tanaka injury is a stiff hamstring. Pitchers do not need to run bases in baseball. The only little league in the world who does make pitchers run bases in the national league. Sad league.

Yanks up 3-1 after 8.

Stanton HR in 9th for 4-1 lead and now Chapman in for the save try.

Great game to win beating a top of the line pitcher.

Henry Orr said...

Looking for a big game and win from German tomorrow night. Bloom and grow Domingo.

Patricia Piper said...

Torres had two hits off of deGrom. So young and still blooming and growing.

Izy Hernandez said...

Four Yankee relievers went one inning each and did not allow a run. Sweet.

Hobbs said...

Don't get overconfident beating deGrom guys. You have a decent lefty looking to take yo down. Come to win, no one is going to give it to you. Lets go Yankees.

Also, Sanchez is looking terrible at the plate far to often and struggling to stay off the interstate.

James Doyle said...

Hobbs. There is no excuse for Sanchez. He is surrounded by bats and he is not producing. How about just meeting the ball and drive it where it is pitched instead of trying to hit home runs.

Tom Loughlin said...

Lets do it again tonight guys. Good effort last night, great pitching, and best of all and the only thing that counts, a win.

Warren Hammond said...

From what I have seen and have heard, Germans' mental makeup, attitude on the mound, and character make him well suited for success with the Yankees. He just needs to set up hitters and make them hit his pitches. Control. Throw strikes.

reinvaldez said...

German be the man.

Linda Pardo said...

Winning last night gives us two chances to win this series. Yes we can.

Ursala Pei said...

It was posted a couple of days ago about all the Yankee bats getting hot at once and then seeing how many wins we would get over a certain period of time. I think it would be very very high and devastating for the competition.

Saturday 6/9 7:15pm
Domingo German (R)
@ Mets - Steven Matz (L)
1. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Giancarlo Stanton (R) LF
4. Gary Sanchez (R) C
5. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Tyler Austin (R) 1B
8. Domingo German (R) P
9. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
All right handed but for Didi. Andujar in 5 hole.

Final, Yankees win 4-3. German after giving up 3 runs in first went on to pitch 5 scoreless innings and left game after the 6th with a 3-3 tie.

Phil Jenkins said...

It's crazy, but our lineup is not producing. Sanchez has reached the level of pathetic. But we keep winning.

Teena/Bronx said...

Love it, the series is won and we go for the sweep tomorrow.

Cory said...

1-10 5-5
11-20 6-4 = 11-9
21-30 9-1 = 20-10
31-40 8-2 = 28-12
41-50 5-5 = 33-17
51-60 9-1 = 42-18

Another 9-1 ten game set. That is phenomenal baseball. We lost 9 of our first 20 games. Over the next 40 games we have lost only 9. Everyone is contributing with no one player being the star.

Deb F said...

Louie Louie starts tomorrow as we try for the series sweep.

Wilsonsway said...

Gary Sanchez is now officially on the interstate.

Carl Hooks said...

Yes fans our game tonight is the despised espn Sunday night 8PM game. espn the loser network.

NJYANKEE said...

What a nice effort from German yesterday. He gave up three first inning runs but did not give up. Came back with five very strong scoreless innings and kept us in the game as Torres and Andujar tied the game at three after six innings. A great building block for German. We have another gem on the horizon.

Saul Irving said...

My gosh. We have two 9-1 ten game series so far this season and had none last year. We also have an 8-2 series this season and only had two all of last season. Andujar and Torres have been the catalysts. Untradeable gems.

White Knight said...

The greatest blessing of this season may be Nothani not having the guts to play in New York for the Yankees on the biggest stage and under the brightest lights.

Cal Fuerst said...

Bringing up Nothani, it reminded me of Yoan Moncada and WIN METHOD saying he was a dud and all the stat frauds drooling all over him. WIN METHOD was right again, Mondaca has been a dud.

We need to keep winning. No big dry spells.

Teena/Bronx said...

Weather looking bad for game tonight. Steady rain right now.

Guy Padikian said...

Sunday 6/10 8:05pm
Luis Severino (R)
@ Mets - Seth Lugo (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Giancarlo Stanton (R) RF
3. Greg Bird (L) 1B
4. Gary Sanchez (R) C
5. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
6. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
7. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
8. Luis Severino (R) P
9. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
This is the lineup if game is played. Raining in NYC. Judge out. Four and four left/right bats.

Quay Ho said...

I might get 10 wins in a row yet this season. But they way we are winning it doesn't matter anymore.

Nathan Riley said...

The rain is lighter but there is more behind was is here. If it drops a little to the south we could get the game in without much todo. It's up to mother nature and man can do nothing that will make any difference to what will happen.

Jen Vitter said...

Can we win tonight and maybe do it from start to finish and without all the drama. Please.

NJYANKEE said...

Game started in very light rain. Louie Louie throws 31 pitches to get through first inning. 0-0.

Andy K said...

Scoreless thru 3.

Sal Mineo said...

Yanks down 2-0 after five. Luis Luis 92 pitches. He hasn't been sharp tonight.

okiened said...

Down 2-0 after 7. Two more chances. Bats have been really bad for over a week now but what is crazy the team has been winning. Sanchez needs to sit for a week and get his act together. Maybe that is why the Yankees drafted catchers as their first two picks this week.

Yankeeforever said...

Yanks go down 2-0 as Sanchez hits in DP to end game. Goes 0-4 and is down to .190 BA.

will-i-am said...

Final, Yanks lose 2-0. It looks like we don't score runs unless someone hits a home run.

Billy Tedder said...

Baseball is a funny game. We win 2 of 3 but lose the game the should have been the sure thing.

Jill Byrnes said...

Off day tomorrow. Then we better come ready to play and play well. Singles are good guys. Better than hitting .190.

Gus Papa said...

Off day. After last nights non-hitting display we need one. But, you can't win them all. And sometimes a pitcher, any pitcher can be unhittable.

Norm Jackson said...

CC and Gray start in the two game Washington series at the Stadium.

muchomachoman said...

My opinion so far this season. Down the road Torres and Andujar are both going to be very special MLB players. I think Andujar may be the better one of the two.

Pierre Jadot said...

Sanchez is getting overshadowed by Andujar, Judge, Stanton, and Torres and he seems unable to cope. He is flailing away like a madman making very little solid contact.

Yanks23245 said...

Barring rainout(s) the Yankees will need to call up a AAA/AA pitcher for a game this week.

Dag Traweck said...

Yankees have several options that I see, Hale, Sheffield, Tate, Swanson. Much may depend on their individual schedules. Hale most likely in my opinion with Yanks maybe not willing to throw a youngster to the wolves just yet.

Larry Kennedy said...

Dag Traweck, Yes, the Yankees should need a starter. They have all the information and we can only surmise and make an educated guess. What will be will be.

Bond007 said...

It's a long season with a long way to go. Nothing has been determined yet.

Tony Gigante said...

Isn't it amazing how many are knocking different Yankees at different points so far through this season, hitters, pitchers, and the Yankees have the best record in baseball.

yankeelover said...

I do believe the Yankees still may be better than what they are playing at now even if they start losing a few more games.

Dave Mathews said...

Back to baseball tonight. We lost a game now we get back on the winning track. Two games with the Nationals and four with the Rays at the Stadium.

Teena/Bronx said...

If I am not mistaken wouldn't this be the first time Bryce Harper played a MLB game at Yankee Stadium?

johnsondc said...

Teena/Bronx..Harper and the Nationals played here in 2015. I think he hit a home run off of Tanaka and also bunted foul on a two strike pitch striking out.

Teena/Bronx said...

johnsondc, thanks, it seems so long ago.

Steve said...

If any of you WIN METHOD fans are interested there is an article about BABIP (batted balls in play) on the New York Yankee MLB website. It is interesting and before posting my conclusion, I would like to see some of the conclusions you guy and girls come to after reading it. Thanks.

Yankeeforever said...

Steve, My conclusion was that the entire article, using many scenarios, and many excuses, showed conclusively just how meaningless BABIP and all other convoluted stats are. They prove nothing and the article proved that. If anyone thinks or worse yet uses BABIP to rate a player they are being very foolish. Just another fake stat.

Walt Belamy said...

Steve, BABIP is meaningless claptrap. Once you start bringing luck and lucky or not into your made up stat you have negated it completely.

coryankee said...

Steve, the article throws everything at you including the kitchen sink. Shifts, exit velocity, luck, they eliminate HRs likely the batters hardest hit ball, they eliminate the batters strikeouts likely the most useless at bats he can have, and so on. It is like how they love spin rate, yet some of the hardest pitchers and pitch to hit is the knuckleball, a pitch where the goal of the pitch is to have no spin rate. It's all garbage.

Tommy Lee said...

Steve......My opinion in a word. Garbage!

sid greenberg,nyc said...

Steve, What does any of the stat fraud gibberish have to do with helping your team win. According to this BABIP crap Roger Maris was a failure in 1961, yet he helped his team to the pennant and win a World Series. That alone proves BABIP is meaningless Barbara Streisand.

Giambino said...

Steve, the article is meaningless. Baseball games are decided by play and events on the field by players doing their best to help their team win. The players that perform when it counts the most often during each game and help lead their team to win are the best each game. Over the season the players who do this the most helping their teams win the most games are the best. Nothing else matters but wins and winning.

Eddie OConnor said...

If players start playing by stats and alter their natural ability in any way they will become lesser players and not helping their team. That will be bad for the game, the fans, and baseball in general.

Guy Padikian said...

Tuesday 6/12 7:05pm
CC Sabathia (L)
vs. Nationals - Tanner Roark (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Greg Bird (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
6. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
7. Neil Walker (S) 3B
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
Andujar out with Walker in for a fifth left handed bat. Romeine in who is our better offensive and defensive catcher at this point in time.

Steve, the article is stat fraud nonsense. Sad if that is what they believe.

Izy Hernandez said...

Steve, Analytical stats don't play baseball, stats can't field, hit, pitch, nor run. Just more garbage to fill the heads of young fans with mush.

Vinny Ferrero said...

Finally Sanchez sits. Long overdue.

okiened said...

Steve, It appeared that the stat fraud article thinks it is more important to hit the ball hard and make out than to have a softer hit ball and get a hit. They seem to fail to realize that the result is what matters.

Rahm Mahoud said...

Hope we get off to a good start on this homestand. Hated to lose to the Mets Sunday.

candycane said...

Yanks up 2-0 after 2.

Jack Bauer said...

Romine produces when it counts driving in runner from 3rd and less than 2 outs. Yanks up 2-0 after 2.

Randy Holt said...

Fifth inning, bases loaded, one out, Bird fails, infield popup. Stanton grounds out. Even though the team is winning, this is why the games are so close, we keep teams alive and are not scoring runs when we should.

Tony Manchu said...

Sabathia goes 5 2/3 very strong shutout innings and leaves mid sixth leading 2-0.

Jill Byrnes said...

Didi second home run of game gives Yankees 3-0 lead after six.

YankeeMike said...

Eight done. 3-0 Yankees. Chapman coming in for the close out.

will-i-am said...

Final. 3-0 win.

Jeb Hough said...

Same old same old. A win with home runs. At least we got one run with a couple of singles and a sacrifice fly. Missed several other opportunities where this game could have been a laugher. The win is all that counts however.

Patricia Piper said...

Gray starts tomorrow night. Lets be Sonny, Gray.

Cory said...

Jonathan Loaisiga is being called up from AA and will pitch Thursday nights game against the Rays. Him starting Thursday will give Louie Louie and German and extra day off. So our starters of the Rays series should be Loaisiga, German, Louie Louie, and CC. Monday we go to DC to finish suspended game and rained out game with Nats. Suspended game can be pitched by bullpen and then Gray would start the other game.

Sharon/NC said...

Steve, babip is worthless.
Wins and winning are what determines the best.

Victor Grandozi said...

Harper after getting HBP in foot took himself out of the game last night. Just walked off the field. If he is really hurt then I think it may have been OK to do what he did. We will see what happens tonight. If he is hurt that bad to walk off the field he should not be playing tonight.

Earl Lennon said...

It looks like Bird is struggling as much as Sanchez. Another very bad night last night in two meaningful situations where he failed badly. Didi make be back in the three hole.

Nick Polito said...

Cory, German and Loaisiga have been flip-flopped. German starting Thursday and then Loaisiga on Friday.

Gabe Dreuer said...

Only a 2 game series so lets sweep it.

Aceman said...

We are in front, don't look back, just keep on winning. Lets go Yankees.

Guy Padikian said...

Wednesday 6/13 7:05pm
Sonny Gray (R)

1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
6. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
7. Greg Bird (L) 1B
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
Earl Lennon, you called it. Didi in three hole. Andujar back in at 3B. Lets score guys.

Dean Muskowski said...

Harper is in the National lineup tonight. Things said about him look like they are true, he is a dirtbag with no character and looking out for himself, the heck with the team.

Sean Smith said...

Dean, I agree. How can any player just walk off the field.

Augie Defonce said...

I'm glad Romine is in again, he has been a very productive hitter and very solid defensively. A very big RBI when it mattered last night and several times throughout the season so far.

Stanley Chin said...

We need you to win Sonny Gray. Do it again, and again, and again. Yes you can, yes we can.

Stan the Man said...

Gray has a tough 34 pitch first inning having to work and grind very hard but allowed just one run. Yanks come back and score one of their own to even game at one after one.

Phil Jenkins said...

Gray doesn't have it again tonight and can't seem to put two good games together. Give up 3 run HR in 4th and Yanks trail 4-3 after 4.

Lou Moscowitz said...

Yankees trailing 5-4 after 7.

will-i-am said...

Final, Yanks go down 5-4.

Yankeeforever said...

Another tough and or bad loss.

Wilsonsway said...

Four games with the Rays Thursday thru Sunday. We need 3 of 4 minimum. The hits with men on base has been literally dreadful lately. And it has meant losses of games that could easily have been won.

Tony Gigante said...

German tomorrow. We need the win.

Lori Kelly said...

As fans it seems like we are expecting to win every game, and when the team doesn't we start sniping and grumbling. We are not going to win every game, but we are going to the playoffs. So lets all take a chill pill and just root for the Yankees to do the best they can. The stat frauds known as sabermetricians or stat analysts are to a degree ruining the game of baseball with meaningless and useless stats.

Quay Ho said...

Lets go Yankees.

Frank Sergi said...

Producing when it counts not how much or how many you attain for yourself, but producing when it counts to help your team win.

Jerry Curcio said...

Well Gray didn't help himself yesterday. He was given the lead and then he gave it all back and put his team in a hole. He gave up 4 runs in 5 innings and the bullpen gave up 1 in 4. The bullpen took the loss as the Nats bullpen gave up nothing.

Guy Padikian said...

Thursday 6/14 7:05pm

4. Gary Sanchez (R) C
5. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
6. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
7. Tyler Austin (R) DH
8. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
9. Neil Walker (S) 1B
Interesting. Only two lefty bats against a right hander tonight. Gardner and Didi not in the lineup. Look at the the 2 thru 6 and even 7 spots. A lot of right handed fire power.

NJYANKEE said...

Guy Padikian, yes interesting. From what I remember if you take Snell to the opposite field you will have great success. That may be the thought process. I have no idea what or why Boones thinking is. This is just my recollection and thought.

Hobbs said...

With this team, who is playing or what the lineup is shouldn't make a bit of difference. To win games it always comes down to producing when it counts. You produce with runners on base you win. You don't you lose.

YankeeMike said...

Hobbs, almost everyone on this blog believes and says what you just posted. The sabermetricians aka as stat frauds are the ones who do not and they have infiltrated baseball and the tv networks with their garbage. The almighty dollar rules. The powers that be will do anything for money. I wish George Steinbrenner were still alive, he made money the old fashioned way, he earned it with investments of profits to try to WIN.

Izy Hernandez said...

When we start scoring runs with hits other than home runs we will be almost unbeatable. The home run power is there no matter what, but scoring runs with hits when men are on base create big innings and wears down the opposing pitchers.

Nathan Riley said...

Guy Padikian, Snell is a lefty.

Yanks23245 said...

Shreve in for 9th and gives up HR to first batter.

Final, Yankees win 4-1. Chance for a four game sweep tomorrow.

Louie Louie gets his 10th win today.

okiened said...

The problem with Shreve today was after giving up the home run he gave up a triple and Yankees had to use Chapman to close out the game for the save.

Raul Vasquez said...

CC starts tomorrow as Yankees try for the sweep.

Chad Copely said...

The Yankees are well overdue to score a bunch of runs.

Hugh Johanson said...

Looking ahead to Monday fiasco in DC. During a home stand the team has to travel to DC Sunday night, finish suspended game, then play a full game, then come back to NYC and then play three games with the Mariners. The pitching staff will be tested.

Alex Antonius said...

Hugh Johanson, I think the suspended game is in the 6th inning, so I would go with the bullpen to try to win it.

Yanks23245 said...

So far there have been no pitchers announced by either team for Mondays games in DC.

Lets take another step forward today. Yes we can. Lets go Yankees.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all our WIN METHOD fathers.

MAWRY said...

A question, why don't any of you here post about Boston losing two one run games and the Yankees taking over first place?

Tony Manchu said...

Thanks Teena/Bronx. Lets go Yankees, make it a perfect fathers day weekend.

johnsondc said...

Thank you Teena/Bronx. Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there. Have a great day. Lets go Yankees.

MAWRY, The only time we think about the sux is when we play them and we root for the Yankees to win. It is of no concern what other teams do, as WIN METHOD fans we root for the Yankees to win as many games as they can to make the playoffs. We have no input on any other teams games except when we play them. How many games other teams win is on them and their abilities. If the Yankees win the most often in our division the Yankees go to the playoffs. No other stat counts or matters but wins. Welcome to the WIN METHOD blog, the best baseball blog in the world.

Deb F said...

MAWRY, first place only counts when you have clinched first place. Being in first place doesn't matter until you have won enough games that no team can win more than you as the regular season comes to an end.

I see where Boone put Walker in between Andujar and Torres.

Thank you for your responses. You fans are very passionate about your team and the WIN METHOD.

I told my family we do not eat dinner until the game is over today. Appetizers and cold beer are fine during the game.

Wanda Bailey said...

Lets go Yankees. Lets sweep this series and play two tomorrow.

Mark Wagoner said...

No score after one.

Bud Light said...

Yankees down 3-0 after four and looking bad against a poor pitcher who is on his third team this season.

Mike Smith said...

Yankees down 3-1 after 7. Do they have a rally in their bones.

Yankeeforever said...

3-1 down after 8. Stanton, Bird, and Sanchez all fail with a runner in scoring position....Stanton and Sanchez both striking out flailing at pitches outside the strike zone, with Sanchez K'ing on ball in dirt and and nowhere near the plate. Dreadful.

will-i-am said...

Final Yankees lose 3-1. Not one hit with men in scoring position the entire game. So many wild swings at pitches outside the strike zone. Not a good game against very poor pitching that made the Yankees look bad today.

Yanks23245 said...

Loss 3-1. This game was a downer.

Jill Byrnes said...

The good today was CC going 7 2/3 really good innings and Warren going the final 1 2/3. Gave the bullpen a big rest for tomorrow in Washington.

Giambino said...

Not a good showing on fathers day, but you can't win them all.

Bud Light said...

The Yankees are so good I don't expect them to lose to a team and a pitcher as they did today. Very depressing.

yankeedoodledandy said...

Gray is starting rained out game tomorrow. Still no word on the suspended game.

Tommy Stenchion said...

We can only hope Gray pitches well tomorrow after his last loser outing.

These past few weeks the Yankee production other than home runs has been, when it matters, has been abysmal.
