WIN METHOD --- 2018 SEASON --- PRODUCING WHEN IT COUNTS

It is here WIN METHOD fans.  Tomorrow we start the 2018 baseball season.  We start with high hopes, high pie in the sky hopes.  The goal is winning the division, making the playoffs and advancing from there as far as wins and winning can take us.

This season we appear to have improved the roster in all areas.  Adding Stanton, Walker, Drury, etc. will surely make this team better.  Having Robertson, Kahnle, and Gray for the entire season should also improve the team.  The only injury of consequence is Greg Birds bone spur, the surgery he just underwent, and him being out for about two months.  As usual we will play the hand we are dealt and overcome all roadblocks and obstacles.

We have several players at AAA Scranton chomping at the bit while blooming and growing that will be heard from and make their presence felt this season.  You know their names, Torres, Andujar, German, and others.   This 2018 Yankee team is deep, has gained confidence and experience, and has backups close at hand.

As I started to write this post I noticed a post by Cory.  I thought his post was very insightful and  positive and I didn't want it to get bypassed because of being posted in a past blog, so I am  reposting it right here now.  Thank you for your post Cory.
----- I will be doing the ten game sets and posting them here as I did last season.
Here is the sets from last season.
10. 6-4
20. 7-3 = 13-7
30. 8-2 = 21-9
40. 3-7 = 24-16
50. 6-4 = 30-20
60. 7-3 = 37-23
70. 2-8 = 39-31
80. 4-6 = 43-37
90. 4-6 = 47-43
100. 7-3 = 54-46
110. 5-5 = 59-51
120. 6-4 = 65-55
130. 5-5 = 70-60
140. 5-5 = 75-65
150. 8-2 = 83-67
160. 7-3 = 90-70
Note the sets from games 61-90. We were 10-20. That is awful baseball. Still finished 91-71. With everything else staying the same if that 30 game skid could be bettered this season to just 15-15 that would mean this season could wind up 96-66. If we improve the three 5-5 sets from last season by one game that would take this season to 99-63. And if we raise the 3-7 set to 4-6 that could take this season to 100 wins.
It will be up to the players on the field producing when it matters most, but it is surely possible.-----

It is not only Cory with great posts, it is all of your posts, every single one of you from all over the world who post your comments and views here.  And all of the readers of the WIN METHOD blog from all over the world, even if you do not post.  We have surpassed 320 million views and are getting bigger and bigger every day.  Yes, we still get some stat frauds, but they are good for us and also and serve a purpose.  The stat frauds give us a guidepost and remind us of just how meaningless and useless their individual stats are.  There is no doubt to anyone here who is a WIN METHOD fan that only wins can take a team to the playoffs.  Only wins and winning as always, do now, and always will in the future, determine the best players and teams.  THANK YOU ALL WIN METHOD FANS.

Now it is just about that time where we all stand up and cheer our team for the 2018 season!

LETS GO YANKEES

Gray need to start winning consistently, and start doing it now. Put up or get the heck out.

Evan Donahue said...

At his best Gray is maybe a #3 pitcher. At his worst he is a AAA pitcher. His value right now is just about a #5-6 as a Yankee. To be rated any higher Gray would have to start dominating and winning consistently, which he hasn't really shown he can do for a competitive team. Example, Louie Louie was awful last night but he won, went six innings and only allowed 3 runs. If Gray could do that at his best and do it all the time he would be acceptable. He truly does need to do better.

Reed Harris said...

It is far better to grow your own pitchers. It may take a little longer for them to bloom and grow, but it is far less expensive. NO PITCHER, repeat NO pitcher in the world is worth 30 million dollars per season.

Steve said...

Here is a nice fact. Over the past ten seasons of MLB the number one team of the thirty has been the WIN METHOD Yankees with a .564 win percentage. And this was through a rebuilding stretch. Now watch as the Yankees win more and increase that percentage over the next ten years.
There is no better tool in baseball than the WIN METHOD, and int has been that way for 2 1/2 decades now.

Gil McKenzie said...

There is no question and there is not even a debate, the WIN METHOD has ruled baseball for going on three decades. The only team, the New York Yankees, that uses it, has since its inception won more games than any other team in baseball, appeared in more playoffs, won the most pennants, and won the most World Series. So the fake phony stat frauds can cry all they want in their pablum.

Today's lineup shows the depth of this team. A switch hitter batting cleanup is sweet. Lets win this series.

Mario/Staten Island said...

With the Yankees having the best record in MLB it sure looks as if Boone knows what he is doing with the players and the lineup. Let him be.

Stanley Chin said...

Game time, lets go Yankees. Lets win another series.

candycane said...

0-0 after 2.

Jen Vitter said...

Yankees score first on a two run home run by Tyler Austin in fourth inning.

coryankee said...

Boone seems to have a magic touch when making out lineups. Hicks cleanup and Austin in the 5 hole with a triple and and two home runs for five RBIs. And only in the fifth inning.

NJYANKEE said...

As the Yanks lead 6-0 after six, Sonny Gray is pitching the best game of his career. Faced a9 batter, got 18 outs and allowed a bloop single. Total domination for the first time as a Yankees.

HerecomestheJudge said...

Gray completes 8 dominant innings allowing one meaningless run in the 8th and earn the win. Cole in to close out the game.

Eddie OConnor said...

Yankees take the series. On to Texas to face the Rangers three games Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

will-i-am said...

Final 10-1 win, a laugher, and 8th straight series win. First time since 1998.

Starting times for the three Texas games are 8:00pm Mon and Tue, then 7:00pm Wed.

Warren Hammond said...

The Yankees have a big target on their back. Every team we play, every pitcher we face wants to be the team/guy that takes down the Yankees. Just play WIN METHOD baseball and win as a team with every player contributing. Yes we can.

Steve said...

Warren Hammond..."every player contributing" that is what stat frauds and unknowledgeable baseball fans don't accept or believe. They are blinded by high individual stats and players that do not help their team win. They can't accept that to be the best, a team or a player has to win.

Felix Lopez said...

Again, game one of a series tonight. Tanaka to start and the win is what we are looking for.

coryankee said...

Warren and Steve, I believe you guys hit on a very telling phrase ""every player contributing."" Stat frauds without using their meaningless individual stats have no way to determine how each player contributes. Stat fraud, because of their indefatigable ignorance, think the last few players on a teams roster have little to no value to a team. Stat frauds are unable to accept what part a role player means to a team and his real value. Because they measure everything by individual stats they have no ability to quantify true value of each and every player.

yankeeclipper said...

Examples of role players, Romine and Torreyes. What gems for the Yankees that when inserted in the lineup for the role they are asked to play help the team to not miss a beat.

Cal Fuerst said...

Also there are pitcher role players. The starting rotation, the middle (long) relievers, the holders, the closers, the mopups. Everyone contributes, everyone.

Deb F said...

Lets take game one tonight and give ourselves a little cushion for this series.

Yanks23245 said...

Not only is it fact that everyone contributes, but also when they contribute that matters. Contributing (producing) when it matters is paramount to winning baseball. Producing to pad stats is meaningless. Wins and winning determines production when it matters.

A win today means a winning road trip, a loss means a .500 road trip which in itself is not really bad. But we are better than that so we win tonight and head home for the weekend.

Paul Hirschman said...

CC to the rescue. Rescue? Yep, we just lost a game.

Lloyd Fuller said...

Clint Frazier went 0-5 last night in AAA striking out 4 times. Not good.

Steve said...

I think it will be hard for Frazier to break in with the Yankees for several reasons. There really isn't a spot in the Yankee outfield right now. His general attitude. His overall performance. The Yankee coaches must see something in Frazier that is keeping him back. We see how Andujar, Torres, Bird, Sanchez, Judge and even Austin have played their way into the lineup. Something or a combination of things is holding Frazier back.

One heck of a nightmare loss. Your lineup scores ten runs, you should win every time. Epic fail from the pitchers. Wonder if Boone will have some private conversations.

Steve said...

We don't have to say the lineup is solid or good anymore because it makes no difference who is in the lineup or where they are hitting. Every Yankee lineup is solid and good.

yankeeclipper said...

Steve, positive attitudes are good and inspire. Unlike the talk forums where there is constant whining, sniveling, and back biting by stupid fans, nonetheless, still fans of the Yankees.

William Mensom said...

The other day when Judge hit his 471 foot HR in Texas. Just to show you great Mickey Mantle was in the 50's and 60's, if that ball was hit in the same direction in Yankee Stadium, the ball would not have been a home run and possibly, although not likely could have been caught.

If Mantle played in todays ballparks he easily would have hit 900+ HRs over his career. Every park Mantle hit in was bigger than todays parks except the Fenway. Detroit, Cleveland, St Louis/Baltimore, Washington, Chicago, and Philadelphia/KC have all gotten significantly smaller.

sid greenberg,nyc said...

William Mensom, without looking up dimensions, several of the AL ballparks were well over 410 feet in center will very deep valleys in right and left center. All the fly outs alone and likely many doubles and triples Mantle hit in the Stadium alone would easily be another 30 or more HRs a year say for at least 15 seasons and Mantle would have hit over 1000 Ballantyne blasts. I was there, it is truth what I write here.

johnsondc said...

William Menson/sid greenberg/nyc, I know both of you are in your 80's. And I know from WIN METHOD who is getting up there in age also that he thought Mantle was the best ball player he ever saw. I wonder if there is anyway the stat cast guys can go back and look at the old games and see just how many more homers Mantle would have it. But knowing the dimensions of many of those old parks, I have to believe very much that Mantle would have hit as many home runs as you guys say. Thanks guys.

will-i-am said...

Final Yankees win 2-1.

Alex Antonius said...

A win is a win. A one run win is not worse than a ten run win.

Billy Tedder said...

Gray starts tomorrow for the series win. We score ten runs and lose then score two runs and win. It is no how many or how much that counts, only wins matter and count.

Patricia Piper said...

Hope Gray gives us another gem like his last start. If he steps up and rises to the challenge of being a Yankee and pitching on the biggest stage it will be a big help to the team going forward.

Gloria LaCorte said...

Only a 1 run win last night, but throughout the game I never felt the Yankees would lose. Maybe it was just because they trailed.

Teena/Bronx said...

The Yankees have to face their old bugaboo tonight, a pitcher they have never seen before. Hope you guys give him a Yankee Stadium feeling about pitching in the big apple.

Stu Benett said...

If you take away five of Stantons best games so far this season, and you have one really bad performing player. There has been very little game to game consistency from him. An awful lot of K's and popups.

Vladimir Tinzak said...

There are a lot of ifs for tonights game on both sides. Our ifs are better, maybe.

YankeeMike said...

Greg Bird has been activated and may very well be in the lineup tonight. In a corresponding move, the Yankees have sent the best utility man in MLB Ronald Torreyes to AAA Scranton. Just goes to show how good this team is.

Gus Papa said...

William Mensom/sid greenberg,nyc/johnsondc.....Let me add. The Stadium dimensions when Mantle played were gigantic from left to right except for directly down the foul lines. Mantle played @1200 games in the Stadium with @4000 at bats. If he hit just one long fly ball out anywhere from left center to right center once every five games, they would be HRs today and added at least 240 more HRs to his total. And that is not counting any road games in gigantic centerfields as in Cleveland and Detroit amongst others.

yankeeclipper said...

Guys, I went back and looked up the dimensions of the Stadium. From straight away left 402 feet to left center 467 feet to dead center 461 to right center 407 was gigantic. Even to see it in pictures is intimidating. My gosh Mantle had to be super human and he wasn't on steroids.

German has the tools to be a very good starter. He just needs to bloom and grow a little more. Don't forget he is only in this position because of the injury to Monty. German is developing and learning on the job. When everything comes to fruition he will be a solid rotation starter. Panic is only for the stat fraud fools. Relax fans and be happy.

NJYANKEE said...

Pitching takes longer to develop. You don't find many polished winning MLB pitchers in their early 20's. Some don't turn the corner until at least mid 20's. We have a few down the road but none right now. At least as far as I know.

Yankeeforever said...

Lets produce when it counts today guys. German give us five innings and keep us close. Bird has gotten his feet wet and is about ready to put a ball in the seats in fair territory.

Happy Memorial Day to all and particularly to all are great veterans.

coryankee said...

This weekends series with the Angels was a stat frauds nightmare, AGAIN. The team that lost the series scored 13 runs and the team that won the series scored 9 runs. In the game the team that won the series lost, they scored more runs than they did in the two games they won. Thus proving again just how meaningless stats are and proving over and over that only wins and winning determine the best players and teams. Everyone contributes in helping a team win, not just the fat stat players.

God bless our veterans and our military. And yes, God bless the New York Yankees.

German gives up 3 run HR in 2nd. Yanks down 3-0 after 2.

candycane said...

Yanks down 4-0 after 4.

NJYANKEE said...

Yankees down 4-0 mid sixth. But there is good. German pitched 5 2/3 innings of pretty good baseball. He pitched against one of if not the best team in baseball and did very well. The one and maybe the only bad thing was one pitch which became a 3 run homer. The game isn't over yet.

Steve said...

NJYANKEE, I agree. German threw over 100 pitches and was still throwing very hard when he came out. By allowing him to pitch as far into the game as the Yankees did, he learned and it added to his blooming and growing. This kid is going to be a very good high level major league pitcher not far down the road. As I write Bird just hit a home run to lead off the 7th. It ain't over.

Yanks down 5-1 after 8.

will-i-am said...

Final. 5-1 loss. There were good points in this loss. Bloom and grow.

Cory said...

1-10 5-5
11-20 6-4 = 11-9
21-30 9-1 = 20-10
31-40 8-2 = 28-12
41-50 5-5 = 33-17

A nothing burger 10 game set. Even is still better than losing. Move forward the next set.

Fred Slube said...

We had some good at bats against Verlander today and pushed him to go all out. Lets move on.

Walt Belamy said...

Happy Memorial Day. Thanks for your service guys and gals.

CC tomorrow against a 7-0 pitcher. Odds are in our favor.

Gil McKenzie said...

When you look at the schedule the Yankees played for these first fifty games, their record is excellent. The next fifty games will be big. If we do what we did and get what we got, everything will be fine.

Earl Lennon said...

Lets see what CC gives us tomorrow. We need a good game.

Ivan Noriokos said...

After 50 games, this years Yankees team is only 3 games better than last years Yankee team.

Doug Shoen said...

CC can be the man who takes down and undefeated pitcher and the World Champion team tonight. Lets give him some help everyone.

RLA said...

Winning against really good teams always comes down to producing when it counts. Many times just a couple of hits at the right time can win a game.

Nathan Riley said...

Morton is overdo to get lit up and we are just the team to do it.

James Doyle said...

Was glad to see Bird home run, and it was off of Verlander. Didi looks about ready to start hitting for hits again.

Tony Gigante said...

I would sit Stanton again tonight and use left handed bats in Gardner, Hicks, Bird, Didi, Walker, then Judge, Sanchez, Andujar, and Torres.
1.Gardner
2.Judge
3.Bird
4.Sanchez
5.Hicks
6.Torres
7.Didi
8.Andujar
9.Walker

Tuesday 5/29 7:05pm
CC Sabathia (L)
vs. Astros - Charlie Morton (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Greg Bird (L) 1B
4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH
5. Gary Sanchez (R) C
6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
8. Miguel Andujar (R) 3B
9. Gleyber Torres (R) 2B
Tony Gigante, you got all but for Stanton instead of Walker. Stanton has to become a force sometime. He has done little to help this team win. He needs to become a consistent force that pitchers are afraid of. Right now it appears few pitchers fear him.

Jen Vitter said...

Sometimes when I watch some of Stanton's at bat I get flashbacks of Chris Carter. Stanton is far more athletic however.

Jack Gordon said...

Ivan Noriokos >> True, only 3 games better than last year after 50 games. There are several big 'buts' to consider. One, our first 50 games this season were against much tougher opponents than last season. Two, our new youngsters had no ML experience unlike Sanchez and Judge who had experience and success from their previous year.

HerecomestheJudge said...

When and if needed the bullpen needs to be spot on tonight. It would be really great to win this game. There is not much better than taking down an undefeated starter.

johnny said...

Lets go Yankees. You are the best.

Stanley Chin said...

Lets try to score early and often. Lets pound Morton. Lets play flawless defense.

Tim Hergenraeder said...

Gardner HR puts Yanks up 1-0 in first inning.

Patrick Healy said...

2-1 Yankees after two on Torres 2 out RBI single.

Frank Sergi said...

Yanks trailing 3-2 after 4.

Raul Vasquez said...

Yankee defensive errors and misplays have given away multiple runs this game and putting team in a hole.

Zhaire said...

Yanks down 5-3 after five as Judge HR gets one run back.

YankeeMike said...

Yankees getting to Morton and making him work hard, but just haven't been able to put the hammer down on him.

Lloyd Fuller said...

The Yankees have committed five errors, not produced when it counted, and are still in the game, trailing 5-3 after seven.

yankeelover said...

Gardner 2 run HR ties it in 9th. Judge double, Bird and Sanchez look terrible each striking out when it counted most. Extra innings tied at 5.

jimbo said...

One heck of a game. Even playing bad baseball the Yanks are still in it. Would hate to have come this far and lose.

Tom Loughlin said...

Andujar two out double and Torres game winning rbi walk off single wins it in 10th 6-5.

will-i-am said...

Final an amazing come from behind extra inning 6-5 win.

Patricia Piper said...

I love baseball and I love it all the more now that WIN METHOD has taught me how the game is played and what really matters. What fun.

yankeedoodledandy said...

Now we have a chance to win this series with Louie Louie starting tomorrow night. That would be great.

sid greenberg,nyc said...

The rolls are reversed tomorrow night as Keuchel and the Astros will try to beat the 7-1 top starter and a very strong Yankees team.

Ron Francis said...

Bypassed in last nights win, don't forget the five scoreless innings from the bullpen. Holder started it with 2 innings followed by one each from Robertson, Betances, and Chapman.

Al Ashton said...

I bet Bird may get the night off against the lefty Keuchel. How about Stanton dropping Stanton to the 7 hole. Maybe he can't handle the big stage and bright lights? Just imagine if he starts to produce.

Victor Grandozi said...

Would really like to get a total shutdown game from Louie Louie tonight, but that will be very hard against a team as good as the Astros.

Cory said...

With last nights win we have taken the season series with the Astros. A win tonight and we will be 5-2 or with a loss 4-3 against them. We also have won the season series against the Angels 5-1.

Warren Hammond said...

Think of this positive. Several of the bloom and grow youngsters are so young and new to MLB, how high is their upside. If they only progress at a reasonable rate, the Yankees have ten years from them producing at a high level. If we can just produce an arm or two at a Louie Louie level. And I don't want to give away the farm for a middling starter which all the stat frauds are clamoring for.
