WIN METHOD 2016 SEASON -- Only wins and winning determine the best.

The 2016 Major League Baseball season starts today.  The New York YANKEES first game will be tomorrow in New York against the Houston Astros.    The starting rotation has been decided, the twenty-five man roster has been decided, and tomorrow the drive for the playoffs will begin.  This is not fantasy baseball, played by stat fraud fools who live by meaningless individual statistics, this is real baseball where winning is determined by what all players on each team contribute to help their team win the most often.   These contributions are measured by wins and players producing at the right time, when it matters, and not by how much or how many stats they produce for themselves as their team fails.

The injury bug has bitten the YANKEES, as it has bitten every team in one way or another.  First baseman Greg Bird is likely out for the season.  Pitcher Brian Mitchell may be out approximately three months, and pitcher Andrew Miller with a broken bone in his non throwing wrist may have been the luckiest, and will lose no playing time.

Several YANKEE WIN METHOD youngsters are blooming and growing and are on the roster to start the season, and several more are on the near horizon and will start their season in the minors.
Several years ago the WIN METHOD made a concerted effort to find pitching talent each season and the YANKEES drafted many of these youngsters.   The time is here for some of these youngsters and the time for others is just around the corner.

The YANKEE management led by the brilliant dealing of General Manager Brian Cashman have added several new players to this seasons roster and have deepened the bench for 2016.   Also, three very possible future stars are so near.  Catcher Gary Sanchez, right fielder Aaron Judge, and shortstop Jorge Mateo are getting closer to the major league roster every day.  Playing regularly in the minors right now is best for them and their development.  But they will soon be heard from.

Remember fans, it is a long season, there will be ups and downs, and as always only wins and winning will be the determining factor on which teams earn playoffs spots and go on to the second season.    Let the stat fraud fools play their fantasy games.   We will play for real baseball and root for our team to win and root for the contributions of each player to help our team win.

LETS GO YANKEES

I think it is sad that on the very rare occasions afraud does something of value it is touted and adored, but when on far more occasions he hurts the team it is accepted by the press, talking heads, and the ignorant. There is absolutely no way that a player, any player, whfo cannot play the field nor run is an asset to his team unless his offensive numbers are consistently making the team better.

Cole/NJ said...

I would like to think the Yankee pitchers could help and learn from each other regarding the ability to throw certain types of pitches. I realize that each person is different in what they have and what may work from them, but there has to be some correlation.

Hugh Frazier said...

Cole...I understand what you are saying, but there is always different arm angles, different hand and finger sizes, velocity, etc. I might add, I do not think any pitcher should have a problem with movement. Just throwing a pitch exactly the same way (arm angle, speed) but having the seams held differently, should make a ball do different things.

Steven Fischer...you can argue all you want. McCann had the game winning rbi, because if it is a 1-0 Yates never gets in the game and does not allow the 2 out meaningless HR. Even if Girardi doesn't allow Tanaka to pitch the seventh inning it is far more likely that Betances, Miller, and Chapman do their thing and shut out the Rays. It would be a 1-0 win because I wouldn't even assume Beltran hits his HR. Everything is different. No question, afruads HR made the game easier however and will take it anyday.

Another piece of proof just how meaningless stats are and just how ignorant the stat frauds are. The Tampa pitchers pitched to just 29 batters today. 27 were outs. 1 was a hit. 1 was a walk. The Tampa hitters totally dominated the game, more hits, more walks, more base runners. But the Tampa hitters did not get the big hit when it counted. The Yankees got just one hit and it mattered more than all the stats the Ray hitters put together combined. Result, the Yankees win 2-1.

johnsondc said...

Steven, There are games everyday where the team that wins does so with less hits than their opponent. The Yankee 2-1 game was an extreme that illustrated the point I was making. Stat frauds love to laud stats, particularly how much and or how many, except when it comes to wins and winning. When their highly touted high stat team losses in the playoffs then have their ready made excuses. Anything can happen in a short series, it was an anomaly, it was an outlier. Never is it the better team won. The better team always wins, be it for a game, a series, a week, a month or a season. The key to winning is for your lineup to produce when it matters and not when it doesn't matter. That has been repeated ad nauseum in this blog for a very long time. It frustrates the stat frauds to no end.

Unknown said...

I think you have a huge misconception of how stats are used by the vast majority of people. No one looks past wins and losses to determine what teams are the best, stats are usually looked at to determine how the teams are winning the games.

Timely hitting and good pitching is obviously a formula for success, but that's oversimplifying things. For instance why have the Red Sox been the best team in the AL east thus far? Well pretty obviously it's in large part because of how much better their offense has been (302 runs) than the Yankees (190 runs) to this point. Now obviously you only need to score one more run than your opponent, but the ability they have to put up a high volume of runs has obviously helped them to be successful in the first part of the season. You can look even deeper into how they've been scoring those runs - and see how high the collective batting averages of their team compared to Yankee players. It's all connected.

Stats aren't the end all be all, they just give more details as to how the team has been successful or unsuccessful. To say stats are meaningless, that seems pretty naïve.

Erica Johnston said...

Castro the righty bar tonight. Come on guys win this game.

Carl Hooks said...

Steven Fischer.....what you have stated is bunk and selective, which is what you like to do to make your point. Taking it a step further and fully looking at what you are claiming.....the first place teams (six of them) in mlb are 1, 3, 9, 10, 14, and 24th in runs scored. It is obvious the lack of scoring a high volume of runs hasn't hurt the Royals and National. The Royals have a whooping 4 more runs than the Yankees.

will-i-am said...

People, come on now. Baseball has been around for a very long time and the only thing that ever determined who was best at the end of the season was wins and winning. Not how many runs you scored, not how many runs gave up, not batting average, not home runs, not hits, not errors, nothing but WINS. Yes WINS. WINS, WINS, WINS.

Now lets win tonight so I can post...Theeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnn.

Unknown said...

Carl Hooks
You've clearly misunderstood what I wrote, the Red Sox was just one example of a team that has primarily won due to their high powered offense. The Nationals have won in large part due to their great pitching (second best team in run prevention). The Royals have the lease wins of all 1st place teams, which is unsurprising based in part on their struggles on offense.

Will-I-am
I agree and said as such in my original post.

Sean Smith said...

Jack Gordon said...

Do it again CC. You have a lot of games ahead of you.

Guy Padikian said...

Steven Fischer, does the fact the Royals have the least wins of any of the first place teams mean they are less of a playoff team or not as good as the other first place teams? I don't think so.

Jill Byrnes said...

Guy Padikian, there are many ways to win. That is why so many stats are meaningless. It can be said this team does well because of one thing, but another team does well because of something else, and third team something else again. That is where the WIN METHOD wins the day because it uses just one defining factor, and in the end that defining factor is never wrong. EVER!

Unknown said...

Wins are the end result, stats help us answer as to HOW the teams are winning and losing.

In my mind just saying - well they're hitting when it matters, is too simplistic. That answer cuts of the pitching and defense side of the game entirely.

Bob Behan said...

We need some kind of spark.

Doug Shoen said...

Bob, Judge, Mateo, Bird, Sanchez, Severino, Kaprielian, etc.

Jill Byrnes said...

Steven Fischer, no, the answer does not cut off the pitching and defensive aspects of the game. Your pitching can pitch a shutout and your defense can be perfect, but you cannot win a game unless you score a run when it counts. Sometimes you need several runs to win a game, but whatever the amount of runs you need if your lineup does not deliver when it counts you will not win. You can make five errors in a game and win, you can get 15 hits in a game and lose. As I have stated the WIN METHOD is never wrong. You must win to get to the playoffs and go beyond. How a team does that is different every game, the win is the only thing that matters.

Think of all the younger players who come up and see guy on the team making vast sums of money and the player can't run, can't play the field, fails when it matters most almost all the time and is occupying a roster spot. Very discouraging to the guys coming up, playing clean and knowing that one of the most foul despicable people in the game is a "teammate". One nail in a tire can make it go flat, a broken cog can stop the wheel from turning. This has all been documented by WIN METHOD who said from the beginning that afraud was not WIN METHOD.

I have more respect for the players on this team than to think they'd be so petty that his mere presence would bring them down and affect their performance. If they were truly WINMETHOD, they wouldn't care about any of that - they'd be focused on winning games. There aren't very many younger players coming up that even contribute to this team, it is largely veteran players.

If your going to place blame, and least spread it appropriately.

Answer me this - what's your excuse for this team in 2014 (84-78) with no Arod and then improving by three wins and making the playoffs the next year when he returned.

Gus, I remember WIN METHOD telling people how he fought to keep afraud off the team in 2001 when he bolted Seattle. George listened then. afruad went to Texas and put up individual stats for three seasons that were amazing and mind boggling while the Ranger team put up three of the worst consecutive seasons of the existence. When afraud bolted Texas the money men in NY convinced George to sign afraud saying his numbers alone and pursuit of Ruth and Aaron would make the team a fortune. WIN METHOD said it would be the worst mistake the team would ever make. Well, WIN METHOD was right. afruad put up those numbers while cheating the game beyond belief. The Yankees have only won one World Series since afraud has been on the team. Yes Gus, the one nail can flatten the tire, and it has. George died far too soon because he would have kicked afraud off the team by now.

Frustrated----I will answer your question, but please answer my question first. YankeeMike made mention of afrauds years in Texas. My question is similar to yours by far more encompassing. In the three years afraud played for Texas they lost far more game per season than in the previous three season before he played for them. Then immediately after he left Texas the Ranges immediately won more games per season the three years after afraud was gone. Also the Mariners in the three years immediately after afraud left them they won more games per season for the three years he was gone. Also the Yankees in the three years right after afraud started to play for them lost more games per season for the three years afraud started to play for them. You explain to me how all this could happen with the Mariners, Rangers, and Yankees, all in consecutive seasons (1998-2006) and I will surely answer your question.

YankeeMike---Everything you said is fact and true. afraud is a disease. Even to his family.

There is no question in my mind that this present Yankee team would be better off if afraud were released today. Just the fact that a real full time player would be on the roster would help. The same has been suggested by numerous fans here for a long time now.

Let me throw this out there people. If you were running the Yankee team right now and had to make changes in any direction what would be the very first thing you would do?

I would kick afraud off the team and go from there.

In regards to the Yankees - Pitching pitching pitching. In 2013 the rotation was headed by David Wells, Andy Pettitte, and Roger Clemens who won 53 games between them. Their replacements Kevin Brown, Jon Lieber and Vazquez struggled - winning only 38 games. We had a massive starting pitching turnover after 2003 and struggled to find those kind of consistent winning pitchers for years after. Even with that they were both 101 win teams that lost in the playoffs, albeit at different times.

The Seattle Mariners did lose Arod in 2001 - They also added Ichiro Suzuki that year (who won the MVP), Brett Boone (who was 3rd in MVP voting that year), and had a full season of an 18 win Freddy Garcia, 20 win Jaime Moyer (both missed time the previous year for various reasons).

The Rangers replaced Arod with Michael Young and Soriano, both great players for them, added an 18 win Kenny Rogers, literally had a completely different outfield and DH from 2003 to 2004.

Point is - the Rangers and Mariners made massive roster changes. Had completely different teams from year to the next.

That wasn't the case with the Yankees, they made relatively small changes from 2014 to 2015. The biggest moves were losing Jeter and getting Arod back. Your turn I guess.

Nick, I agree, you shouldn't have to play with 24 1/2 guys.

Gus, I know about that afraud fact. I can tell you what the stat frauds excuse was.

Frustrated---Right, it was everybody else who made the difference. Teams make changes every season, sometimes several players, sometimes only one or two. The one fact that you subtly ignore is the biggest fact, the cancer left those who got better, and hurt those the cancer played with.

My response to your question, a three game swing in any one season to another is completely normal and rational no matter who is on any team.

My point of fact regarding afraud was each teams record over three full season both before and after afraud. Facts do kill, and blaming and or crediting everyone else is typical.

Linda Pardo said...

Frustrated Fan, You did what all the stat frauds did, you credited everyone else from 1998 to 2006 except the one player who was responsible for it all.

I also would delete afraud from the roster and fill it with any of several possibilities. Sanchez would likely be first now that Refsyder has taken Ackleys spot.
