The 2016 Major League Baseball season starts today. The New York YANKEES first game will be tomorrow in New York against the Houston Astros. The starting rotation has been decided, the twenty-five man roster has been decided, and tomorrow the drive for the playoffs will begin. This is not fantasy baseball, played by stat fraud fools who live by meaningless individual statistics, this is real baseball where winning is determined by what all players on each team contribute to help their team win the most often. These contributions are measured by wins and players producing at the right time, when it matters, and not by how much or how many stats they produce for themselves as their team fails.
The injury bug has bitten the YANKEES, as it has bitten every team in one way or another. First baseman Greg Bird is likely out for the season. Pitcher Brian Mitchell may be out approximately three months, and pitcher Andrew Miller with a broken bone in his non throwing wrist may have been the luckiest, and will lose no playing time.
Several YANKEE WIN METHOD youngsters are blooming and growing and are on the roster to start the season, and several more are on the near horizon and will start their season in the minors.
Several years ago the WIN METHOD made a concerted effort to find pitching talent each season and the YANKEES drafted many of these youngsters. The time is here for some of these youngsters and the time for others is just around the corner.
The YANKEE management led by the brilliant dealing of General Manager Brian Cashman have added several new players to this seasons roster and have deepened the bench for 2016. Also, three very possible future stars are so near. Catcher Gary Sanchez, right fielder Aaron Judge, and shortstop Jorge Mateo are getting closer to the major league roster every day. Playing regularly in the minors right now is best for them and their development. But they will soon be heard from.
Remember fans, it is a long season, there will be ups and downs, and as always only wins and winning will be the determining factor on which teams earn playoffs spots and go on to the second season. Let the stat fraud fools play their fantasy games. We will play for real baseball and root for our team to win and root for the contributions of each player to help our team win.
LETS GO YANKEES

Final 6-0 Yankees win.
We are at .500 ball for the season.
Girardi pulling all the right strings.
Keep afraud in the minors.
Eovaldi with a gem. Bullpen untouched. Hitting when it mattered. = WIN.
A touch with reality fans. When you are playing your best, you are not that good, just like when you are playing at your worst, you are not that bad.
A very nice win last night. Everyone performed. Nova tonight to keep the line moving.
Would be nice to take this series tonight. Yes we can.
It was good to beat a knuckleball pitcher for a change.
I am pleased to see the Yankees start playing well and winning.
Nova has started the line since he got into the starting rotation. I wouldn't mind a six man rotation if Louie Louie is ready to roll.

Yanks go down 8-4.
The winning streak is over. Yanks lose 8-4.
Series even, we need the win tomorrow.
CC this afternoon for the series.
If you haven't heard future Yankee catcher Gary Sanchez at AAA Trenton broke his thumb and will be out of action for several weeks.
Lets get back to winning ways today. Lets win this series.
You can't win them all. You only need to win more than your competition. Yes we can.
For me a very pleasant late afternoon game. I'll be there.

Girardi is innovative. YES WE CAN
Romine at 1b. Different.
1-0 Yankees after two on Castro home run.
Didi error cost Yanks 2 runs. down 2-1 after 3. Jeter makes that play blindfolded.
Yanks down 2-1 after 4.
afraud has been to bat twice and looks like the garbage he is. Weak ground ball to short and a strikeout missing the 3rd strikes by 6 inches.
Yanks down 2-1 after 6.
CC has been fantastic so far. Seven innings complete 2 unearned runs.
Yanks down 2-1 after 7. afruad pop flies to rf in 3rd at bat. afraud below the Mendoza line and headed to the afraud line.
Yanks down 2-1 after 8. One more chance.
Chapman gives up 3 opposite field singles putting Yankees down 3-1 as they bat in the 9th.
Yanks go down 1.2.3 in 9th with afraud k'ing again.
Tough loss. That is what happens when you don't hit.
The black hole is back and the dark cloud comes over the Yankees again.
Regroup and move on to the next series.
Three game weekend series with the Rays in Tampa up next.
After coming home for just three games and losing the series the Yankees head to Tampa for a three game series starting tonight. The Yankees will start Tanaka, Pineda, and Eovaldi.
Tanaka tonight and we will win this series, we will.
Lets think sweep this weekend.
We have the added handicap of having to have to play around afraud again. Just when we were starting to hit our stride.
Toronto took advantage of Didi's error by producing the hit with two out for two runs. That is what counts. Not how much nor how many, but when you produce.
Get back on track guys.
One win at a time.

Yankees up 4-0 after 8.
Tanaka with seven very strong scoreless innings for the win.

Yanks win 4-1.
Good win, good start to the series.
Great start last night. Pinedas turn this afternoon. Score some runs.
Yes we can, we can take this series today and move forward.
Big Mike, show your stuff and show it consistently. You have far to much talent not to dominate most of your starts.
I think it is sad that on the very rare occasions afraud does something of value it is touted and adored, but when on far more occasions he hurts the team it is accepted by the press, talking heads, and the ignorant. There is absolutely no way that a player, any player, whfo cannot play the field nor run is an asset to his team unless his offensive numbers are consistently making the team better.
I would like to think the Yankee pitchers could help and learn from each other regarding the ability to throw certain types of pitches. I realize that each person is different in what they have and what may work from them, but there has to be some correlation.
Player A: .195 3 HRs 12 rbis in 149 ABs
Player B: .188 6 HRs 14 rbis in 80 ABs
Player C: .218 3 HRs 11 rbis in 133 ABs
Player D: .198 2 HRs 10 rbis in in 91 Abs
Player E: .145 0 HRs 4 rbis in 55 Abs
One of these guys is continuously ridiculed as a black hole while the rest are given a free pass. You guys are so off-base in your blame-placing it's almost comical.
Cole...I understand what you are saying, but there is always different arm angles, different hand and finger sizes, velocity, etc. I might add, I do not think any pitcher should have a problem with movement. Just throwing a pitch exactly the same way (arm angle, speed) but having the seams held differently, should make a ball do different things.
Steven Fischer....If you know anything about the WIN METHOD, you would know that it is never how much or how many a player amasses. Also what the player contributes on the field defensively and more.
Izy
I would argue that he has produced when it matters just as much if not more than each of the other players above. He had what proved to be the game winning 2 run homer last night alone.
Cole, Hugh,......there is also the factor that some guys have a tough time learning and each pitchers ability to transfer what they are shown to being able to do what they are shown.
Steven, Izy,.....Also a grand slam when it is not needed can be meaningless. Whereas an out can be beneficial and or even win a game.
Lets go Yankees.
Todays lineup...

Yes we will!
Steven Fischer...you can argue all you want. McCann had the game winning rbi, because if it is a 1-0 Yates never gets in the game and does not allow the 2 out meaningless HR. Even if Girardi doesn't allow Tanaka to pitch the seventh inning it is far more likely that Betances, Miller, and Chapman do their thing and shut out the Rays. It would be a 1-0 win because I wouldn't even assume Beltran hits his HR. Everything is different. No question, afruads HR made the game easier however and will take it anyday.
More important guys. Lets win todays game.
Yankees quickly down 3-0 after one.
Pineda being Pineda. Yanks down 5-0 after 2.
Yankees being hammered 9-1 after 5,
Yanks go down 9-5.
Loss 9-5. Rubber game tomorrow.
afraud is now 1-13 since his return from the DL. Release him, please release him, let him go, we don't love him anymore.
Eovaldi to get us back on track tomorrow.
We take this game and series today and we take another step forward.
Bounce back with Eovaldi. Win the series.
Lets see how Tampa fairs against Eovaldi compared to Pineda.

Lets win this series!
The black hole is still in there and is a cancer. Just say no to afraud.
Forget afraud. We win as a team, even as a handicapped team.
0-0 after 2.
Yankees down 1-0 after 4.
Rays pitcher embarrasses and makes a fool out of afraud as afraud hits meager grounder back to pitcher and pitcher from the pitching circle underhands throw 2o feet in the air to throw out afraud by 20 feet.
Still down 1-0 after 5.
Yanks down 1-0 after 6 and do not have a hit.
Yanks take lead 2-1 after 7 on Starlin Castro two run home run after Gardner walk. Still Yanks only hit of game. Betances throws 1,2 3 seventh. Miller next.
Miller strikes out the side in 8th. Yankees lead 2-1. Chapman next.
Chapman a 1,2,3 9th. A win 2-1.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
Another piece of proof just how meaningless stats are and just how ignorant the stat frauds are. The Tampa pitchers pitched to just 29 batters today. 27 were outs. 1 was a hit. 1 was a walk. The Tampa hitters totally dominated the game, more hits, more walks, more base runners. But the Tampa hitters did not get the big hit when it counted. The Yankees got just one hit and it mattered more than all the stats the Ray hitters put together combined. Result, the Yankees win 2-1.
The Yanks take the series and move on.
On to Toronto for payback.
afraud now 1 for 16 since his return from the DL. Dump the useless tool.
We have lost too many games similar to this one. It is nice to win one for a change. Eovaldi shows determination and guts for the win.
Nova, CC, and Tanaka for the three games in Toronto.
Lets take the Toronto series. Good pitching and timely hitting will do it.
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY.......to all those who have served and are serving this country. To those who made the ultimate sacrifice and their families and have given so much. Let us all remember to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Lets go Yankees.
Hear hear, Love ya WIN METHOD,
A moment of silence............................
Lets win tonight guys. Production when it counts wins games.
Just get the wins no matter how they are gotten.
Nova has been hanging in there pretty well since he has been starting.
johnsondc
I see arguments made like this from time to time here, but you do realize that no one would ever argue that stats from one game tell you much of anything right?
It's pretty silly to use one game as an argument for anything...
With Ackley hurting his shoulder, Teixeira is getting back at just the right time. Would love to see him come back hot and get some hits when needed.
Steven, There are games everyday where the team that wins does so with less hits than their opponent. The Yankee 2-1 game was an extreme that illustrated the point I was making. Stat frauds love to laud stats, particularly how much and or how many, except when it comes to wins and winning. When their highly touted high stat team losses in the playoffs then have their ready made excuses. Anything can happen in a short series, it was an anomaly, it was an outlier. Never is it the better team won. The better team always wins, be it for a game, a series, a week, a month or a season. The key to winning is for your lineup to produce when it matters and not when it doesn't matter. That has been repeated ad nauseum in this blog for a very long time. It frustrates the stat frauds to no end.

Lets go Yankees! There is no afraud, there is no black hole.
I think you have a huge misconception of how stats are used by the vast majority of people. No one looks past wins and losses to determine what teams are the best, stats are usually looked at to determine how the teams are winning the games.
Timely hitting and good pitching is obviously a formula for success, but that's oversimplifying things. For instance why have the Red Sox been the best team in the AL east thus far? Well pretty obviously it's in large part because of how much better their offense has been (302 runs) than the Yankees (190 runs) to this point. Now obviously you only need to score one more run than your opponent, but the ability they have to put up a high volume of runs has obviously helped them to be successful in the first part of the season. You can look even deeper into how they've been scoring those runs - and see how high the collective batting averages of their team compared to Yankee players. It's all connected.
Stats aren't the end all be all, they just give more details as to how the team has been successful or unsuccessful. To say stats are meaningless, that seems pretty naïve.
Castro the righty bar tonight. Come on guys win this game.
Steven Fischer.....what you have stated is bunk and selective, which is what you like to do to make your point. Taking it a step further and fully looking at what you are claiming.....the first place teams (six of them) in mlb are 1, 3, 9, 10, 14, and 24th in runs scored. It is obvious the lack of scoring a high volume of runs hasn't hurt the Royals and National. The Royals have a whooping 4 more runs than the Yankees.
People, come on now. Baseball has been around for a very long time and the only thing that ever determined who was best at the end of the season was wins and winning. Not how many runs you scored, not how many runs gave up, not batting average, not home runs, not hits, not errors, nothing but WINS. Yes WINS. WINS, WINS, WINS.
Now lets win tonight so I can post...Theeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnn.
Carl Hooks
You've clearly misunderstood what I wrote, the Red Sox was just one example of a team that has primarily won due to their high powered offense. The Nationals have won in large part due to their great pitching (second best team in run prevention). The Royals have the lease wins of all 1st place teams, which is unsurprising based in part on their struggles on offense.
Will-I-am
I agree and said as such in my original post.
Yanks down 3-0 after 3.
Yankees down 4-0 after 6.
Yanks get 2 in 9th and fall 4-2.
Final 4-2 loss, but Yanks did get trying run to plate in 9th, did not deliver when it mattered.
Two games in five days Estrada dominates the Yankees.
CC tonight to try to get even. Lets take the last two games and win the series.
CC to be the man tonight. Comeback player of the year.
Do it again CC. You have a lot of games ahead of you.
Steven Fischer, does the fact the Royals have the least wins of any of the first place teams mean they are less of a playoff team or not as good as the other first place teams? I don't think so.
Guy Padikian, there are many ways to win. That is why so many stats are meaningless. It can be said this team does well because of one thing, but another team does well because of something else, and third team something else again. That is where the WIN METHOD wins the day because it uses just one defining factor, and in the end that defining factor is never wrong. EVER!
Wins are the end result, stats help us answer as to HOW the teams are winning and losing.
In my mind just saying - well they're hitting when it matters, is too simplistic. That answer cuts of the pitching and defense side of the game entirely.
We need some kind of spark.
Bob, Judge, Mateo, Bird, Sanchez, Severino, Kaprielian, etc.
Steven Fischer, no, the answer does not cut off the pitching and defensive aspects of the game. Your pitching can pitch a shutout and your defense can be perfect, but you cannot win a game unless you score a run when it counts. Sometimes you need several runs to win a game, but whatever the amount of runs you need if your lineup does not deliver when it counts you will not win. You can make five errors in a game and win, you can get 15 hits in a game and lose. As I have stated the WIN METHOD is never wrong. You must win to get to the playoffs and go beyond. How a team does that is different every game, the win is the only thing that matters.

Different and no afraud
The lineup only needs to produce when it counts.
Jill
It's the only thing that matters to you. Not me.
Steven...Hopefully winning is the only thing that matters for every MLB team. Now for the stat frauds and fantasy world people, that would be a different story. They like to play amongst themselves.
Will-I-Am
It's not the only thing that matters to every MLB team: player development, player health, revenue, etc. matter to them.
Also I'm not an MLB team and I can look at and form my own opinions about things other than wins.
I've said it before here, while winning is obviously very important, it's not everything. Didn't your parents every teach you that...
Wow Steven, Winning IS the only thing. But, to each their own. George Steinbrenner must be rolling in his grave when he reads your opinions. And the Babe, Lou, Joe, Mickey, Yogi, Phil, etal.
Lets go Yankees. Win one for us fans.
Seriously, sid?
The first game my father every took me to at old Yankee Stadium was a 6-5 loss, but it was still one of the most amazing experiences of my life. You're going to sit here and tell me that the only that should have mattered was the fact that the Yankees lost?
That's sad man, there's more to baseball, and life, than winning...
1-0 Yanks after 2.
1-0 Yanks after 2.
Yanks up 1-0 after 3.
1-1 after 5.
1-1 thru six. CC very sharp, but the Yanks ain't doing any scoring.
Betances crashes in 7th. Yanks trail 4-1. Jays got the hits when it mattered.
Yankees go down without a whimper 4-1.
Final 4-1 loss. And no Steven, a loss is not fun unless you are living in the fantasy world.
No one ever said losing was fun sid, I said it's not all that matters...Huge difference. You should try going out to a ballgame with friends and family, it's enjoyable no matter outcome.
Please don't put words in my mouth.
Tanaka tomorrow to try and prevent a sweep.
I think you people are conflating the issue. I do not think that going to a game with family, friends, or even by yourself cannot be enjoyable, socialable, and fun, whether or not the team you are supporting wins or losses. If no one is supporting either team it is just a fun day out. On the other hand the outcome of the game is all that matters, always. The outcome of the game is why the game is played and the only reason it is played. It is not played for fun.
I agree Mike. Now for a win tonight to avoid a sweep and that is what matters.
Anyone can go to a game for whatever reason they want. They don't even have to root for any team. But, there is no question that for every game, winning and losing is all that matters.

New month. Lets play .600 ball in June.
Scoreless after one.
0-0 after 2.
0-0 after 4.
Yanks down 2-0 after 6.
Yankees down 7-0 after 7 and headed to being swept.
A 7-0 loss is no way to start a new month.
Pineda tonight in the one game makeup in Detroit. Can we earn an unexpected win.
We can really use a win.

Lets get a win for Gods sake.
Lets go Yankees.
Yankees down 1-0 after 5. And do not have a hit.
1-1 after 6. Pineda did his job. Now it's in the hands of the bullpen.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KABOOM !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yankees explode for four runs in seventh for a 5-1 lead.
With the Yankees leading 5-1 last night the Yankee big three bullpen came in for an what should have been an easy win. But, Betances, Miller, and Chapman did all they could to try to blow the game, with each giving up a run in each of their innings and the Yankee hung on for a 5-4 win. It wasn't pretty.
The Yankees were down to a 5-3 lead and the Tigers had the bases loaded and no one out in the 9th before Didi/Castro turned a sparkling double play to save the game.
I can't believe what I am watching with this Yankee team.
Eovaldi starts the Oriole series tonight. After sweeping Detrot (joke) we can now try for another sweep.
I don't know what to make of this team. I wish George was alive and in charge. He and WIN METHOD were a great combination.
The good old days. Where if you didn't win it all, you failed.

Lets start a winning streak
We have had only one good inning in the last several games and almost lost that game.
WHEN, it is all about WHEN you produce. Be it for a hitter or a pitcher.
Refsnyder in at first base for Teixeira. Injury for Tex? It was stated in this blog when Bird went down that Refsyder should have been used at first base.
Yanks up 3-2 after 4.
First report on Teixeira is he had right knee discomfort. Headed for MRI.
5-5 after 6.
Betances gives up run in 7th. Yanks down 6-5.
Yanks down 6-5 after 7.
Yankees go down 6-5 after leading 5-2 thru 5.
a horrid defeat.
I hate to say, but we do have a cancer on the team.
Honestly how much better do you think this team would be if Arod wasn't on it?
This team has a lot of problems from starting pitching to the offense to middle relief, you're kidding yourself if you think it should be pinned on one guy. This is the ultimate team game and one player can't bring down a team that much.
Things are not looking good. But there is still time.
Ivan Nova starts tonights game.
Frustrated-----A team game baseball surely is. afraud has played for himself all his career, cheated the game, lied about it, and everyone with common sense knows it. afraud is a disease that can permeate through a team. Think of all the younger players who come up and see guy on the team making vast sums of money and the player can't run, can't play the field, fails when it matters most almost all the time and is occupying a roster spot. Very discouraging to the guys coming up, playing clean and knowing that one of the most foul despicable people in the game is a "teammate". One nail in a tire can make it go flat, a broken cog can stop the wheel from turning. This has all been documented by WIN METHOD who said from the beginning that afraud was not WIN METHOD.
Gus
I have more respect for the players on this team than to think they'd be so petty that his mere presence would bring them down and affect their performance. If they were truly WINMETHOD, they wouldn't care about any of that - they'd be focused on winning games. There aren't very many younger players coming up that even contribute to this team, it is largely veteran players.
If your going to place blame, and least spread it appropriately.
Answer me this - what's your excuse for this team in 2014 (84-78) with no Arod and then improving by three wins and making the playoffs the next year when he returned.
Gus, I remember WIN METHOD telling people how he fought to keep afraud off the team in 2001 when he bolted Seattle. George listened then. afruad went to Texas and put up individual stats for three seasons that were amazing and mind boggling while the Ranger team put up three of the worst consecutive seasons of the existence. When afraud bolted Texas the money men in NY convinced George to sign afraud saying his numbers alone and pursuit of Ruth and Aaron would make the team a fortune. WIN METHOD said it would be the worst mistake the team would ever make. Well, WIN METHOD was right. afruad put up those numbers while cheating the game beyond belief. The Yankees have only won one World Series since afraud has been on the team. Yes Gus, the one nail can flatten the tire, and it has. George died far too soon because he would have kicked afraud off the team by now.
Frustrated----I will answer your question, but please answer my question first. YankeeMike made mention of afrauds years in Texas. My question is similar to yours by far more encompassing. In the three years afraud played for Texas they lost far more game per season than in the previous three season before he played for them. Then immediately after he left Texas the Ranges immediately won more games per season the three years after afraud was gone. Also the Mariners in the three years immediately after afraud left them they won more games per season for the three years he was gone. Also the Yankees in the three years right after afraud started to play for them lost more games per season for the three years afraud started to play for them. You explain to me how all this could happen with the Mariners, Rangers, and Yankees, all in consecutive seasons (1998-2006) and I will surely answer your question.
YankeeMike---Everything you said is fact and true. afraud is a disease. Even to his family.
There is no question in my mind that this present Yankee team would be better off if afraud were released today. Just the fact that a real full time player would be on the roster would help. The same has been suggested by numerous fans here for a long time now.
Let me throw this out there people. If you were running the Yankee team right now and had to make changes in any direction what would be the very first thing you would do?
I would kick afraud off the team and go from there.
Gus
In regards to the Yankees - Pitching pitching pitching. In 2013 the rotation was headed by David Wells, Andy Pettitte, and Roger Clemens who won 53 games between them. Their replacements Kevin Brown, Jon Lieber and Vazquez struggled - winning only 38 games. We had a massive starting pitching turnover after 2003 and struggled to find those kind of consistent winning pitchers for years after. Even with that they were both 101 win teams that lost in the playoffs, albeit at different times.
The Seattle Mariners did lose Arod in 2001 - They also added Ichiro Suzuki that year (who won the MVP), Brett Boone (who was 3rd in MVP voting that year), and had a full season of an 18 win Freddy Garcia, 20 win Jaime Moyer (both missed time the previous year for various reasons).
The Rangers replaced Arod with Michael Young and Soriano, both great players for them, added an 18 win Kenny Rogers, literally had a completely different outfield and DH from 2003 to 2004.
Point is - the Rangers and Mariners made massive roster changes. Had completely different teams from year to the next.
That wasn't the case with the Yankees, they made relatively small changes from 2014 to 2015. The biggest moves were losing Jeter and getting Arod back. Your turn I guess.
Nick, I agree, you shouldn't have to play with 24 1/2 guys.
Gus, I know about that afraud fact. I can tell you what the stat frauds excuse was.
Frustrated---Right, it was everybody else who made the difference. Teams make changes every season, sometimes several players, sometimes only one or two. The one fact that you subtly ignore is the biggest fact, the cancer left those who got better, and hurt those the cancer played with.
My response to your question, a three game swing in any one season to another is completely normal and rational no matter who is on any team.
My point of fact regarding afraud was each teams record over three full season both before and after afraud. Facts do kill, and blaming and or crediting everyone else is typical.
Frustrated Fan, You did what all the stat frauds did, you credited everyone else from 1998 to 2006 except the one player who was responsible for it all.
I also would delete afraud from the roster and fill it with any of several possibilities. Sanchez would likely be first now that Refsyder has taken Ackleys spot.
