The 2016 Major League Baseball season starts today. The New York YANKEES first game will be tomorrow in New York against the Houston Astros. The starting rotation has been decided, the twenty-five man roster has been decided, and tomorrow the drive for the playoffs will begin. This is not fantasy baseball, played by stat fraud fools who live by meaningless individual statistics, this is real baseball where winning is determined by what all players on each team contribute to help their team win the most often. These contributions are measured by wins and players producing at the right time, when it matters, and not by how much or how many stats they produce for themselves as their team fails.
The injury bug has bitten the YANKEES, as it has bitten every team in one way or another. First baseman Greg Bird is likely out for the season. Pitcher Brian Mitchell may be out approximately three months, and pitcher Andrew Miller with a broken bone in his non throwing wrist may have been the luckiest, and will lose no playing time.
Several YANKEE WIN METHOD youngsters are blooming and growing and are on the roster to start the season, and several more are on the near horizon and will start their season in the minors.
Several years ago the WIN METHOD made a concerted effort to find pitching talent each season and the YANKEES drafted many of these youngsters. The time is here for some of these youngsters and the time for others is just around the corner.
The YANKEE management led by the brilliant dealing of General Manager Brian Cashman have added several new players to this seasons roster and have deepened the bench for 2016. Also, three very possible future stars are so near. Catcher Gary Sanchez, right fielder Aaron Judge, and shortstop Jorge Mateo are getting closer to the major league roster every day. Playing regularly in the minors right now is best for them and their development. But they will soon be heard from.
Remember fans, it is a long season, there will be ups and downs, and as always only wins and winning will be the determining factor on which teams earn playoffs spots and go on to the second season. Let the stat fraud fools play their fantasy games. We will play for real baseball and root for our team to win and root for the contributions of each player to help our team win.
LETS GO YANKEES

Yanks use big 3 in bullpen to secure 2-1 win over White Sox
Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman combined for scoreless relief as the New York Yankees used their three big bullpen arms in the same game for the first time Saturday to secure a 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox
The Associated Press18 minutes ago
Tanaka tomorrow for the series win. That would be very nice. Just got to grind our way back one game at a time, one series at a time.
Girardi got 10 outs from the ace bullpen and none were overused.
Nova did look strong today. If he can keep it up that will be a big help to the team.
Lets go Masahiro, win this series.
I would like to see us at .500 by the end of this month. That would be step one.
Ellsbury back today in CF. Torreyes at 3B. Beltran DH. Ackley RF. The rest, the usual..
Game and Tanaka time. Lets go Yankees.
1-1 thru 2.
Yankees down 4-3 after 4. Tanaka struggling.
Down 4-3 after 5.
Beltran 2 out 2 run home run gives Yanks 5-4 lead after 6.
Headley with a big 2 out pinch hit rbi double to put Yankees back on top 6-5 in 7th after Betances allows tying run in top of inning.
6-5 Yankees after 7.
Where's that Steven F after naming Headley as one of the worst hitters in baseball. Hiding under a rock?
Miller 3 up 3 down in 8th, then McCann HR for 7-5 lead after 8. Chapman time to shut it down.
Chapman 1,2,3. Yanks win 7-5.
Theeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
Great home stand 7-3. 2 of 3 from the bosux. 3 of 4 from the World Champions. 2 of 3 from the team with the best record in the AL.
Lets hit the road and keep winning.
Lets go Yankees.
Yankeeforever
Thanks for the call out. Why would I hide under a rock, he WAS one of the worst hitters in baseball to that point. I'm glad to see he's turned it around, I never said he couldn't.
It wasn't easy today, but it is nice to see fight in our team and guys finally producing when it counts.
Steven F, we live by the WIN METHOD tenets. One of the greatest is when you are playing your best you are not that good, and when you are playing your worst you are not that bad. Headley has a track record and only one in who knows how many ever fall off the cliff.
Billy
The only thing I ever said about Headley is that he had struggled a great deal and it was one of the reasons the team had struggled. Never said anything about his future performance.
On the road for seven games in seven days. Three in Arizona starting tonight and then four in Oakland.
Chad Green listed for tonights game, then Pineda and Eovaldi.
Five or six great innings from Chad Green tonight would be super. Have a winning road trip and take another step forward.
Steven Fischer, the reason the team was struggling was many players were not producing in key situations. The black hole afruad is a disaster and should not be on the team. Batting in the center of the lineup he failed so many times in key situations he made me sick.
Maybe a little Arizona warmth will help bring out some big hits.
That's why I said he was "one of the reasons", if Arod was the worst performer then Headley was a close second.
Lets see how Girardi handles the bullpen tonight if needed since the big three all pitched both Saturday and Sunday.
These late night west coast games eat into my sleep.
In a national league park tonight means we play pitchers bat lost in time warp baseball.
Yanks down 2-0 after 2.
Yanks down 2-1 after 4.
Ellsbury ties it at 2 in top of 5th, Green gets raked in bottom of 5th. Yanks down 7-2.
If you are going to lose, losing 12-2 with a minor league call up starting pitcher starting for you might be the way to go. Now you have to win the next two to win the series.
Pineda tonight to try to even the series.
Best case scenario from last night is the bullpen is ready to go all out again.
Lets take the next two games and go to Oakland up.
Smart for Girardi to use Green and give Pineda and Eovaldi extra day off. Lets see how they respond.
Took a few minute to peruse a Yankee baseball forum I had posted on and those guys are the lowest forms of Yankee fans there can be. All they do is knock the team, management, the players, the owners, every which way they can. So very sad.
Maybe Pineda should show a little meanness on the mound.
Arizona scored all their runs yesterday. We take the next two.
1-1 after 2.
Steve
Should they be praising this team the way they've performed thus far?
Yankees trail 3-1 after 4.
Yanks down 5-1 after five. Pineda struggling again.
Girardi doesn't look a bit pleased tonight. Even Kay and Singleton talked about it.
Yanks get 2 in 8th but trail 5-3.
Yankees can't score in 9th and lose 5-3.
Another loss. Final 5-3.
Eovaldi goes tonight to try to avoid a sweep. Come on guys, play winning baseball.
Frustrated Fan, You may not wish to praise a team that is not playing .500 ball, but you do not in any way, shape, or form have to demean, attack, and vilify management, players, coaches, etc almost all the time. They even had attacked Yankee stadium one of the grandest ballparks in baseball.
Do we need a win tonight or what.
Right I agree you don't have to, you can certainly question certain decisions that have been made though. I just think it's pretty hypocritical for you to say considering that people are commonly demeaned, attacked, and vilified on this blog if they have a differing opinion...
I hope Girardi can light a fire in some of these guys, and soon.
Frustrated Fan, questioning decisions? or is it second guessing after the fact? Commonly demeaned on this blog is an out and out lie. Here and there for sure. Probably .5 of 1% of all the posts here. I won't "vilify" here now, but do strongly suggest your point is foolish, and very wrong.
FF.....This site can be viewed by anyone of any age and they would not be embarrassed. There are talk forums out there that are far and away foul and or vulgar.
After tonights game the four starters scheduled in Oakland are Nova, CC, Tanaka, Pineda.
Steve
Not a lie. In general I agree it's not a large portion of the post overall, but as I said if people come out with a differing opinion than the vast majority here, they are immediately ridiculed and called stupid. My last post asking why the Yankee teams of late have been less successful was met with one reply - "nimrod alert".
2-1 Yankees after 2.
Frustrated Fan---Why do you assume nimrod alert is negative. This is what Websters dictionary has for the meaning of nimrod-----
Definition of Nimrod
1: a descendant of Ham represented in Genesis as a mighty hunter and a king of Shinar
2:not capitalized : hunter
-----I can see why you may be frustrated.
Ken
What was the point of this? You and I both know how it was intended. You also purposely left out the third definition
3: not capitalized slang : idiot, jerk
Again though, what was the point of that?
Eovaldi has been brilliant. Maybe his best game ever. 18 batters in a row retired. Yankees leading 3-1 at the end of six.
Yanks up 3-1 thru 6.
Girardi using the bullpen to try to secure the win. Betances in for the 7th.
Betances with a shutout 7th. Still 3-1. Miller next.
Miller give up HR then K's next 3. Yanks hanging on 3-2 after 8. Chapman next.
Yanks up 3-2 after 8. It ain't easy.
Yankees score insurance run on wild pitch for a 4-2 lead as DBacks come up in 9th.
Final. 4-2 win.
1,2,3 for Chapman. A win 4-2.
Theeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
It wasn't pretty but it was a win. Eovaldi was great.
OK, we won only one of two in Arizona. Now if we take three of four in Oakland the road trip will be a success. One game at a time, one win at a time.
Can we clone Eovaldis performance from last night. In total command. If the Yankees got some hits when it mattered the game could easily have been a laugher. The win is what matters.
Nova starts off the 4 game Oakland series tonight. Lets score some runs guys and give our starters some runs and a break.
It takes a manager who know his team, his players, and knows what he is doing to replace a pitcher who has retired 18 hitters in a row ant did not have a very high pitch count. Kudos to a man who is not afraid to make a decision what far too many think was not a good one.
I still think that when everything comes together for the Yankees they will move to the front of the AL East.
How about sweeping the four games in Oakland? Yes we can!
Erica..I agree. Far too many fans complain about managers. The managers are normally life long baseball people and are closer to the situation and why the decisions are made.
Lets go guys. Look alive and fly high.
Tonights lineup.....Ellsbury, Gardner. Beltran, McCann, Castro, Headley, Ackley, Gregorius, Hicks.
Castro the only right handed hitter.
Teixeira getting the night off. He needs to recoup.
No score after 2.
1-1 after 4.
Yankees blowing too many scoring opportunities again tonight. Left bases loaded in 5th.
1-1 thru 5.
Yanks take 2-1 lead after 6, but blow a few runs with poor base running. Get 4 hits but have a runner picked off and runner thrown out at 2nd base between the 4 hits.
Girardi with a gutsy call using Betances in tonights game. But Betances does his job with a shutout 7th inning. 2-1 Yanks.
2-1 Yankees after 7.
Miller in for the 8th. Miller has a 1,2,3 inning.
With 2 out in 9th Gardner walks and Beltran hits HR for a 4-1 Lead.
Chapman coming in for the 9th. It is still a save situation. Less pressure with a 4-1 lead instead of 2-1.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
Girardi uses big three of pen two nights in a row. Got the two wins, which is what matters.
Final, Yankees win 4-1.
Big positive tonight, Nova with a very strong six innings of one run ball and the win.
2-2 on the western swing with 3 games to go. We can take 2 of the 3. Yes we can.
Lets hope CC can came back tonight and throw the way he was when he got injured.
Good goal is to be .500 by the end of May.
Lets also hope afraud never comes back.
Teena, How about over .500?
We need to score runs. That has been our biggest problem for most of the season. Several 5 or more run wins aren't the worst thing in the world.
Lets go Yankees.
Yanks trail 1-0 after 2.
The Yankees have left runners in scoring position in all three innings. Back in the can't hit win it matters mode. That is all that determines winning baseball, getting hits when it matters.
Yankees score five times in fourth. Maybe I rattled their cage.
5-1 Yanks after 4.
Yankees up 6-1 after 6. CC has been exceptional. Now it's up to the bullpen.
Yanks 6-2 after 8.
afraud likely not to be activated this week.
Girardi has done a great job with this team so far this season. Didn't need the big three from the bullpen after using them to win the two games before this one. Gets some runs from his lineup tonight and gets easy win with good relief from secondary pen.
Yanks add 2 runs in 9th for 8-2 lead as A's come up for last at bats.
First time this season Yanks have won three games in a row. Make it four tomorrow.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Three straight.
Final score 8-3.
CC with a big effort. In control for six innings. Gets the win. Comeback player of the year?
Tanaka this afternoon. No reason we can't make it four in a row and take this western swing.
Keep moving forward guys. Yes we can.
Remember guys, play WIN METHOD baseball. A bloop single with two men in scoring position is worth double a solo home run. Play as a team, play for the team to win, not for yourself. Pick each other up, and think.
Keep the line moving Masahiro. A win a day.
Hi WIN METHOD, lets go Yankees, love ya,
Would love to win this series today and have a shot at a sweep tomorrow.
Girardi with an innovative lineup today. Eight right handed bats.
1.Ellsbury cf
2.Castro 2b
3.Teixeira 1b
4.Beltran dh
5.Headley 3b
6.Hicks lf
7.Refsynder rf
8.Romine c
9.Torreyes ss
Todays lineup reminds me of a long time ago and the 'old professor' Casey Stengel, and a lineup he would come up with. Great thought process by Girardi, but it how the guys do on the field that determines a win or loss.
Very interesting. Would love production when it counts.
Tanaka pitches out of bases loaded jam in 3rd. 0-0 after 3.
No score after 3.
Yanks score 4 in 4th, last 2 on a 2 out when it counts 2 rbi double by Refsynder.
Tanaka with a shut down inning after Yankees score 4. 4-0 Yankees after 4.
4-1 Yankees after 5.
4-1 Yankees after 6.
5-1 Yanks after 7. Tanaka pretty solid.
Goody in for the 8th and gets A's 1,2,3. 5-1 Yankees after 8.
Goody with two scoreless innings closes out a 5-1 win.
Four straight wins. A guaranteed winning road trip. The big three bullpen gets another day off. Chance for a sweep tomorrow.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Four straight.
The starters are rolling now. Pinedas chance tomorrow.
Keep the wins coming.
The players delivered, Girardi looks great. The lineup was solid no matter what, but it is always better to win as it shuts up the naysayers, the losers of life lottery, and the just plain idiots.
Pineda starts tomorrow. Chance of a four game series sweep and a five game winning streak. Because of Girardis decisions, the Yankees have the big three of the bullpen ready and able to go all out tomorrow followed by an off day Monday.
Pineda and the Yankees go for the four game sweep this afternoon. Baby steps, one win at a time. One winning week at a time, one winning month at a time. Yes we can.
Now if Pineda can follow in the footsteps of the previous four starters we should be able to win today. Plus he has the backup of a fully loaded bullpen.
Pineda has too much stuff not to be able to be effective on a consistent basis. Like with many pitchers, the light bulb will come on and he will see the light.
how to think positive. Two of our five original starters are 1-11 combined. The others are 12-5, included Nova because he has been the 6th man and in the rotation because of injuries.
Now think WHAT IF Pineda and Louie Louie where just 4-7. That would put our present 20-22 record at 23-19. Or go one more step and say 5-6, the team would be 24-18. In my opinion that WHAT IF may very well turn into a will be.
Yeah, 1-11 from 2 of your starting rotation is pretty bad. I guess being 2 games under .500 right now is really not that bad under the circumstances. Lets win today and keep the line moving forward.
Todays lineup
1.Ellsbury cf
2.Gardner lf
3.Beltran dh
4.McCann c
5.Teixeira 1b
6.Castro 2b
7.Headley 3b
8.Gregorius 2b
9.Hicks rf
8 left handed bats 1 right handed.
For all those who wish afraud the lying cheat was gone. The money he is paid makes no difference. He gets paid whether he plays or not. Just DFA him or release him and put Refsnyder on the roster. Refsnyder can play the field in several positions, can hit very likely better than afraud right now, and he can run. There is no way on Earth that Refsynder would not be an upgrade over the dirt bag.
Wilsonsway, It is what it is and we can't do a thing about it. Maybe the bean counters still think the fraud brings people to the games.
Game time. First pitch foul ball. ball one, one and one. Strike two, one and two. Foul ball. Pop up to first. I'm done.
1-1 after 2.
Pineda can't make the big pitch when it counts and gives up 2 out 2 on double for 2 runs in the 5th. Yankees now down 3-2 after 5.
Yanks down 3-2 after 5.
Yankees take 4-3 lead after 6 on two two rbi singles by Teixeira and Castro. Bullpen time.
Beltran two out rbi double when it counts gives Yankees 5-3 lead in 7th.
Three up three down for Betances in 7th.. 5-3 Yanks.
Yanks 5-4 after 8.
Miller gives up run in 8th only after Didi and Castro boot ground ball to start the inning putting men on 1st and 3rd with no outs. 5-4 Yanks after 8.
Chapman 1,2,3 9th. Yanks win 5-4.
5-4 Yanks win final.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnn. Five in a row.
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let go Yankees..enjoy the trip home.
5-2 road trip. Five straight wins.
Slowly the cream is rising. The worm has turned?
Well deserved day off today for the Yankees. We can reach .500 very soon.
Over the last ten games the Yankees and Angles have been playing the best baseball in the major leagues. Both have 7-3 records.
Eovaldi, Nova, and CC slated for the three game home series with the Blue Jays and the low life joey rats.
The negative and this one hurts. afraud is coming off the DL. Disgusting, just when we are starting to move forward.
It has been said countless times here. We have to play around afraud. That hurts the team.
jimbo, 2 of 3 against the Jays is fine with me.
I hope Frustrated Fan is less frustrated right now. But I doubt it. There in lies the difference between positive and negative outlooks and philosophies.
Girardi has been putting together lineups that have scoring some runs. But it is always the guys performing at the right times that determines wins.
Maybe afraud will get some hits and move some runners and help the time. We can only hope he has some pride, which I doubt. I think he is just going through the motions and taking the money he was stupidly offered.
Lets hope Eovaldi shines tomorrow night and wins.
afraud is keeping Refsynder off the roster. That's another downer.
We face a knuckleballer tomorrow. Hope we fare better than the last one we faced.
Hoping Eovaldi lays out joey rats with a high hard one.
More important, hoping the Yankees win.
If we take this series we can be at least at .500.
Reprieve. afraud playing a AA game today. Not with Yankees tonight.
Al, Yes we can.
Brian, Any game without the fraud is a plus.
Hitters tonight. Bide your time and let the ball come to you.
Tonights Yankee lineup......
1.Ellsbury cf
2.Gardner lf
3.Teixeira 1b
4.Beltran dh
5.Ackley rf
6.Castro 2b
7.Headley 3b
8.Gregorius ss
9.Romine c
YES WE CAN
McCann night off. Girardi might have a feeling.
Lets go guys, hit when it counts and pitch when it counts.
Yanks get 1 in first on Ellsbury triple and Beltran ground out.
1-0 Yanks after 2.
2-0 Yankees after 4 on Beltran HR.
Eddie
Of course I'm less frustrated during this win streak, why wouldn't I be?!
My frustrations date back to the fact that we haven't won a playoff game in years, but of course I enjoy winning.
Betance with a 1,2,3 7th. Then Romine and Ellsbury with 2 out rbi hits for a 4-0 lead after 7.
Yanks up 4-0 after 7.
With a 4 run lead Yates in for the 8th.
Yates with a shutout 8th.
6-0 Yanks after 8.
Cessa on for the 9th. Miller and Chapman not needed.
