The New York YANKEES start their 2024 season today. They start the season with their best pitcher, Gerrit Cole, on the DL (disabled list) and their starting third baseman, DJ LeMahieu also on the DL. It is estimated that Cole will be out of action for about two months, and LeMahieu out for anywhere from two weeks to two months. There are also several other players who will start the season on the DL.
The ultimate goal for the YANKEES is to win the World Series. There are many thresholds that must be met just to get to the World Series. Every threshold is met in only one way, WINS. Wins is the only stat that determines the best players and the best teams in baseball. Over the 162 game season the teams who win their division will move on to the playoffs, and the next teams in each league with the most wins will also go on to the playoffs. The playoffs then start and only the teams that WIN each round move forward towards the World Series.
Any team that loses any round is finished for the season. Only WINS determines which teams move forward, until only one team in each league is left, and they will be the two teams who will meet in the World Series to determine which team and their players are the best in baseball. No players individual stats mean a thing on which players and teams reach the World Series. Learn this fans, if you haven't already or if you are new to baseball, only WINS determines which players are and which team is the World Champions of baseball, by winning the World Series.
The YANKEES have upgraded their lineup and roster significantly by adding Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and Marcus Stroman to the team for the 2024 season. Anthony Volpe will be in his second season and still on the improve. Austin Wells, a promising youngster, has been added to the catching ranks. The YANKEES, will be looking for help from several young pitchers until their 'ace' Cole returns to the starting rotation.
In other news, this blog, the WIN METHOD YANKEE baseball blog, will break two billion views in the next several months. The WIN METHOD blog is the number one YANKEE baseball blog in the world with readers and contributors of opinions from all around the world. Yes, 2,000,000,000 views, from all over the world. Thank you all, wherever you are from for your viewership and your opinions.
As the season begins, lets all get behind and support our team, the New York YANKEES, and their run to the World Series. It will not be easy, there are thirty teams with the same goal.
Again, thank you everyone, for making the WIN METHOD what it is today, the best blog, forum, or site in the world, just as you all are, the best in the world readers and posters.

«Oldest ‹Older 1801 – 2000 of 2054 Newer› Newest»Finally, better late than never. Lets go Yankees.
The only thing better than seeing this lineup today would be a win. A WIN METHOD win.
Really looking forward to watching game tonight. A win would be golden. Also, Commie and tampon Tim are pigs. There, I said it.
A dream come true. Hope springs eternal.
The Yankees made the following roster moves:
1. Recalled OF Jasson Domínguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
2. Returned INF Jon Berti from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the DL.
3. Placed INF DJ LeMahieu on the DL with a right hip impingement.
4. Designated LHP Anthony Misiewicz for assignment.
Each move improved the team.
Hope Rodon pitches like he did last start. That alone could make for a win.
Hope we all are not going overboard tonight. It is only one game.
Tough break for LeMahieu. It seems his body has totally broken down. It does happen, unfortunately.
Hope Dominguez gets off to a good start. Half of what he did last September would even be a good start.
Yanks down 2-0 after 3.
Yanks down 4-3 after 6.
Judge rbi single followed by Wells 3 run homer put Yankees in front 7-4 and still batting in 7th.
Yankees do it, lineup does it, Yanks win 10-4. Can't wait until tomorrow.
Yanks win it 10-4. Rodon gave up 2 HRs, defense gave up 2 runs, but bats scored 10 runs. Verdugo 2 run HR and Wells a 3 run HR lead the way.
We got what we wanted and needed tonight with a 10-4 W. Stroman starts tomorrow, let's do it again.
The insertion of Cabrera and Dominquez added oomph to the Yankee lineup and make it more potent from top to bottom. Opposing pitcher had to work harder and does the opposing bullpen. That is a recipe for success and more wins for the Yankees.
About the debate tomorrow night. TRUMP will wipe the floor with Harris. When TRUMP gets to speak, he will talk about all of Harris's failures, of which there are triple digit things to talk about. Harris has no success's while holding any political office. Harris is a liar, phony, fraud, and worse of all, a radical leftwing liberal progressive democrat turd. TRUMP will talk about his first term as President, when he turned the country around and Made America Great Again. Border control, no inflation, low fuel prices, no wars, brought NATO under control and made them pay what they were supposed to for their own defense. When Harris gets her turn to talk, she will lie with every claim she will make. It appears many of the nation's voters, 'the smart ones', already see her as the fraud she is.
Yankees face another right hander tomorrow. A better one than tonights. Hope Boone sticks with same lineup.
Lets go Yankees
MAGA 2024, The direction of this country is at stake in the November election. Make America great again, save America, make your life better and more affordable, then you vote for TRUMP. Send this country deeper down the rabbit hole of despair and closer to hell, then you vote for commie Harris.

Much of which team wins tonight depends on how Stroman pitches. Saying that and having no inside information about the Yankees, I believe Boone in taking two lefthanded bats out of tonight's lineup and using Stanton and Volpe in their place is a horrid decision. Nonetheless I will be rooting hard for a Yankee win as I always do.
Why, why, why, would you change a lineup that scored ten runs the game before? I wouldn't be saying a word if KC was throwing a lefty at us tonight. Why?
Yanks down 3-0 after five innings and have just one hitter, a bloop fly ball to the first batter. Absolutely nothing else.
Yanks down 3-0 after 6.
No contest tonight. Yanks lose 5-0 with just 3 hits. Rubber game tomorrow.
Anyone who watched the debate, did not miss a thing by not watching tonight's game.
Kamala Harris will destroy America only if you vote for her. DON'T.
Trump trounces Kamala with truths while Kamala drowns in her lies.
I didn't think Trump had a good night. He left several opportunities on the table and let the commie drive the narrative. But she did get a lot of help from the moderators, while Trump got none.
Rubber game with KC tonight, Gill starting, lineup showing up or not, who knows.
Harris defined herself and her campaign answering the first question asked of her last night. She was asked about the economy, and do you feel the people are better off today than they were four years ago? She did not answer the question but went off on some wild tangent ignoring the question completely. >>>>> Why? because most Americans are not better under this administration, and she knows it, and she can't address or speak to it.
Gil throwing another gem tonight would help the lineup a lot. I rather the lineup just do their job and score often.
0-0 after 3.
Soto two run home run in 6th gives Yanks 2-1 lead. Holmes comes in for 7th and gives up tying run and earns another blown save. OMG!
Extra innings tied at 2.
Both teams score the fake runner in 10th. 3-3 going to the 11th.
Yankees win it in 11th, 4-3, on Chisholm walk off rbi single. Weaver gets the win.
Big win, 4-3 in eleven innings. Chisholm with rbi infield single for the win. Yanks take series.
After a tough series win against KC, the Yankees now host the sux for a four game series. Yankee rotation listed is Cortes, Schmidt, Cole, and Rodon. The sux are coming in after just taking a tough series with the Orioles.
How sweet it is, having the sux come into to New York for a four game series in mid September and even if the sux sweep they would still be six games behind the Yankees.
Yankees used five relievers tonight and the only one who actually failed was Holmes, and that is what sent the game into extra innings. At least we won.
Hey, the Yankees are going to the playoffs. Just stay healthy and figure out the rotation and pen. Do your best and remember to play WIN METHOD baseball. Only the wins matter if you want to be the best.
sid greenberg, nyc, The sux are going home after playing 162 games. The Yanks are going to the playoffs. That alone is another win.
I sure hope Boone and every player in that clubhouse realizes the importance of a win tonight and at least 3 out of 4 vs. the Red Sox this weekend.
Noname, no brain, The Yankees and Orioles are in the playoffs, the sux aren't. Who finished first or second in the division in the big picture makes no difference except for maybe playing a few less games. Both the Yankees and Orioles will each have to beat every team they play in the playoffs to win the WS. As will every other team in the playoffs. You are a stat fraud and gave yourself away when you used The Boston team legal name.

Stanton out, Verdugo in, Verdugo bat in 9-hole, others move up one spot, that makes the lineup great.
Four game series, win game one and the rest is easy as to not losing the series.
1-1 after 5.
1-1 thru 8 innings. Yankees have left 8 runners on base. Volpe has left them all on base, no one else. Solo HR from each team.
Extra innings again. Tied at 1.
Soto rbi single wins it in 10th, 2-1.
Soto walk off single leading off the 10th scores the ghost runner and a 2-1 Yankee win. Cortes went five innings allowing the only sux run on a HR. Yankee bullpen goes five scoreless innings and Holmes gets the win.
Just what the Yankees needed with tonight's 2-1 win. Take the first game of this four game series. Soto single going the to the opposite field wins it. That is WIN METHOD, all the team needed was an outfield single, and Soto delivered when it mattered most.
Hope Schmidt can build on his first excellent start in tomorrow's game against the bosux.
A 2-1 extra inning win but belies the fact that the Yankees failed multiple times with runners in scoring position. One or two hits when it mattered most, and the game wouldn't have been close and there would have been no extra innings.
Everything commie Harris is accusing Trump of and what he will do is false. The joe-bama/commie MALADY administration has done, is now doing, and will do everything they accuse Trump of. The joe-bama/commie MALADY administration are destroying the world and will completely get their way if commie Harris is voted into office.
I will make this clear as I can, and if I offend you, too bad, you better wake up.

About time for the Yankee lineup to score a bunch of runs.
Yankees do it again, don't score leaving the bases loaded.
0-0 after 4.
Schmidt goes 5 2/3 innings but gives up a 2 run home run to the last batter he faced in the 6th before he could get the 3rd out. Pitched a great game. Hid teammates with the bats are pathetic yet again for the first five innings.
After Leiter gives up a 2 run home in the 7th putting the Yankees into 4-0 hole, the Yankees score 5 runs in the 7th capped by Judge grand slam to take 5-4 lead after 7 innings. Now to hold it.
Yankees win 5-4 coming from 4-0 behind. With a magical seventh inning and down 4-0, Volpe walks to start inning, Verdugo walks, Torres rbi single, Soto walks to load bases, Judge grand slam for a 5-4 lead. That is the ultimate of producing when it matters most. Weaver pitches the last two innings striking out five for a no drama save.
Yankees come from behind 4-0 to win 5-4 when overdo Aaron Judge hits grand slam.
Nice win tonight. Seventh inning five batters, all reached base with the fifth on a HR. Yanks take first two games of four game series winning third straight one run game.
OK, Yanks won first two games of series, and have Cole and Rodon pitching the next two games. You would think the Yanks should sweep series, but baseball works in mysterious ways. Conclusion, any team can defeat any other team on any day.
OK, Yanks scored five runs on five consecutive batters, and it was enough for them to win. BUT, the lineup did absolutely nothing over the first six innings, and absolutely nothing after those five batters. The win is all that counts and matters.
I liked the part where Judge hit the @!$^#@^ grand slam.
Let's not waste the last two games. Win at least one, preferably both of the sux games today and tomorrow. WINS are all that matters.

As of now I believe this is a top notch lineup against a right handed pitcher. If you wanted a seventh left handed hitter, you could use Cabrera for either Volpe or Torres.
Jimmy Thames, you are right, winning the first two games in the manner the Yanks did, and then losing today and tomorrow, turns ecstasy into an aw well.
Cole is our ace, will he do better than Cortes one run over five innings and Schmidt two runs over five and two-thirds innings? Offense, everyone, comes alive?
0-0 after 2.
After 10 batters faced and 10 outs, Devers in intentionally walked. Result > 3 run sux inning and a 3-1 lead. Whoever made the call to walk Devers is an idiot.
BIGTIMEYANKEE, I guess we got our answer. Cole give up 7 runs in 4 1/3 innings. The intentional walk was a bonehead call, but an "ace" with one out and one on should never blow up like that. This will turn into a big story that the franchise, team, and management will have to 'make up a good story about'. Not what you want at any time.
Yanks down 7-1 after 6.
Can't wait for the rest of the story on intentional walk to Devers.
Yanks lose 7-1. Cole bombed after highly unusual intentional 4th inning walk. Yankee bats dead in the water again.
Just what the Yankees didn't need. Rotten game from Cole, dead lineup, and a controversial decision field decision, from who. I am sure much more will come about this.
Without knowing who or why the decision to walk Devers with the Yankees leading 1-0 in 4th inning with one out and no one on base was made, I will state my opinion, whoever made the decision and for whatever reason they made it, it was a stupid decision, and the person made it shut have the guts to make a public apology.
It appears Boone made the decision to walk Devers, and Cole was very unhappy. He then lost concentration and that was the ballgame.
From the horse's mouth. Cole said in interview after the game that it was a collaborative decision between Blake, Boone, and himself. They discussed it and decided to go with it. Cole said the runs scored were all on him, because he failed to make pitches when it mattered the most, thus failing to do his job. Case closed unless what Cole said is not true.
When you hear it was a decision made by the three men and agreed upon. What then can you say. I, for one can't even believe the idea of walking anyone in that point in the game would even be thought about. Not smart.

5-2 win for Yanks. Take 2 of 3 from O's and 3 of 4 from sux. Fine week.
Bullpen effective again for the win. Rodon gets the win giving up 2 runs. Off day tomorrow as the Yankees head west for 3 games in Seattle and 3 games in Oakland.
Second assassination attempt on President Trump this afternoon at golf course in West Palm Beach.
What I post here is not true ......>>>........>>> When commie Harris was told that there was a second assassination attempt on Donald Trump today, and asked what she thought about it, she stated "third time is the charm".😊
And right after her response, she went into one of her hysterical cackles.😁
Quigley and Ian Collins, morbid, and probably truer than what the fake media will say.
The Yankees by taking 3 of 4 from the sux pretty much killed the sux chances of making the playoffs. Now they go to Seattle and if they can take 2 of 3 there, could pretty much kill the Mariners chances of making the playoffs.
A vote for Harris-Walz is equivalent to murdering your pet.
Yankee rotation for Mariner series in Seattle, Gil, Cortes, Schmidt.
I am now placing the Kopeky curse on anyone and everyone, especially the corrupt lying media, whoever says again about anything that is politically negative, that "it's all Trumps fault".
Looking for double digit K's and a W from Gil tonight if the lineup puts runs on the board.

Judge 2 rbi double in first for a early 2-0 lead.
Second inning, Judge 2 rbi single makes it 4-0 Yanks, still early.
Yanks up 4-1 after 2.
Yanks rolling tonight. Soto adds to lead with a 2 run HR and Dominquez solo HR makes it 7-1 mid fifth. Gil grinding and needs to finish inning to be able to earn win if Yanks maintain lead.
Yanks win 11-2. Good start on west coast trip.
A laugher. 11-2 rout of Seattle.
The bats were alive tonight. Had faced Mariner pitcher twice and never scored a run off of him, losing both games. Tonight was different, big time with an 11-2 win.
Cortes starts tonight. Lineup produce double digit runs again. Just produce when it matters most.
How big was it that Stanton and Volpe, both of whom have not been hitting and most importantly producing when it mattered most were not in the lineup last night. Cabrera had 2 hits and a rbi, and Dominguez had a solo HR.
You vote for DONALD TRUMP you will be able to eat steak again.
You vote for commie Harris you will keep eating scraps and garbage.

Yanks up 1-0 after 3.
Cortes does his job, going six scoreless innings leaving game with a 1-0 lead.
Holmes fails again. Surrenders game tying HR 1-1.
Extra innings 1-1. Yankee bats dead for nine innings, only 2 hits. Holmes failed when it mattered most giving up only Mariner run on a home run.
Yankees win it in 10th, 2-1. Rizzo rbi single. Weaver gets the win and Hamilton the save.
2-1 win in ten innings. Yanks only got 3 hits, Rizzo had 2 of them, both for rbi's with the Martian scoring both runs. The bad, Holmes gave up the only run Seattle scored which made the game go into extra innings. The most pathetic bat was Volpe, the two days off didn't seem to help him as K'd twice looking, hit into a rally killing double play and popped up a sacrifice bunt attempt in the tenth inning.
Theeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnn, 2-1.
The win tonight clinches playoff spot, wins this series and a chance for a sweep tomorrow. A real pitchers duel from start to finish. Good game.

Stanton and Volpe both in this afternoon. One thing, Volpe is so overdue to get a hit or two, and even more overdue to produce when it matters most.
Yanks down 3-0 after 2.
Chisholm two run homer cuts Mariner lead to 3-2 thru four innings.
Yanks go down 3-2 as bats are dead in the water. Stanton flailing away and useless again. Three K's while going 0-4. Volpe finally gets a hit, but failed when it mattered most.
On to Oakland.
Dominguez was the culprit today. Dropped fly ball in first inning which allowed two unearned runs to score and was thrown out at home plate trying to score.
Three game series in Oakland. Cole, Rodon, and Gil for Yankees.
The Yankees have won four series in a row, and have three more left. Next up, the A's in Oakland. Yanks will be playing for fifth consecutive series. Going to the playoffs, but are not playing consistently well, even with this winning streak. Maybe it is just that MLB has gotten more even keeled competitively.

Pitcher's duel or hitter's futility duel? 1-1 thru six.
1-1 after 9. Extra innings. Cole went 9 innings allowing just 2 singles and 1 walk. But one hit was when it mattered most, and he failed.
Yanks score 3 in 10th and take 4-1 lead.
Yanks win 4-2 in ten innings. Cole gets the win going 9 innings and Weaver with the save going the 10th.
Yanks win in ten 4-2 Volpe bat comes alive. Soto big pinch hit double in tenth.
Two and a half hour ten inning game and a 4-2 Yankee win. Sweet.
Baseball is a crazy game. Two teams play nine innings and combined score 2 runs. Then in the one extra inning they score 4 runs. Only thing that matters is the Yankees won 4-2.
One more win in Oakland and Yanks will take this series. Rodon and Gil get the starts.
Going to the playoffs makes a baseball team one of the best of 30 teams. Also can be said of the players on the playoff teams.
I got my answer re Poteet. Yanks DFA's Marinaccio and added Poteet to the 40 roster. Good move.
Nice win last night. Wish the lineup scored more than one run in the first nine innings, to eliminate the extra inning drama. Stanton is not worth playing. Every once in awhile he performs, but the black hole he creates is truly devastating. He can't play the field, he can't run the bases, he looks at strikes and swings at pitches a foot or two off the plate.

The anatomy of a black hole, aka Stanton. Yankee first inning, Torres single, Soto single, Judge walk, bases loaded no outs. Stanton double play, run scores, no rbi, Dominguez rbi single, Berti K's 2-0 Yanks. Stanton killed a possible massive inning.
OK, OK, I better say it before someone else, Yankee third inning, Soto single, Judge single, Stanton 3 run home run. 6-0 Yanks. There I say,, it looks like a laugher.

How many more goose eggs from Yankee pitchers today. How many runs from the Yankee lineup today. The WIN is the goal.
That was quick. Gil gives up 2 runs in first inning, both batters he walked. Throw strikes for heaven sakes.

Yanks leading 5-2 after five innings. Dominguez, Judge, and Torres each with home runs.
Yanks up 6-4 after 7.
Yanks sweep the series with a 7-4 win. Gil gives up all 4 A's runs in a mediocre effort. Weaver brilliant again in a five out. Bats did what was needed.
Yankees sweep A's 7-4. One more win and the American League East division is theirs.
5-1 road trip. 5 consecutive series won. September race when it matters most to the finish line won. A proud Yankee fan.

Yanks down 3-1 after 6.
Yankees with a tough 5-3 loss tonight. Difference in game the Orioles pitchers and hitters produced when it mattered most and the Yankees didn't. Had their chances pitching and hitting wise, but came up short.
Yanks go down 5-3. Torres with another base running error in a big, BIG, spot in the game.
Yanks lose 5-3. Schmidt only gave up four hits which led to 3 Baltimore runs. One hit a solo home run, that happens, but he gave up two rbi singles with a runner in scoring position, both with two outs, and that hurts. So, he took the loss.
I think Dominguez needs to be batting cleanup. Wells we be good, but right now he seems to be in a funk.
Still have a chance to win this series with the O's. Need to hit and pitch better when it matters most.
Unbelievable base running blunder by Torres last night. So utterly stupid on his part. Baseball instincts and intelligence is not his forte.
Yes, Torres has an awareness issue, and poor situational skills. But, if he did not err and stayed at third, who knows if the next batter or two would have produced when it mattered most. We will never know.
Vice President Kamala Harris will be sitting down with MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle for her second solo interview since beginning her bid for the presidency on Thursday.
Ruhle hosts MSNBC's daily late evening show, The 11th Hour, which focuses on the issues and news driving the political conversation. Just last Friday, Ruhle appeared on Bill Maher’s show, where she defended Harris’s choice to evade press interviews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, we have a radical liberal democrat piece or scum interviewing a radical liberal democrat piece of scum politician. Sounds like a good way to either learn to be stupid or stay stupid. Ignorance is bliss.
Cortes out and placed on 15 day DL with left elbow flexor strain. Bad news for Yankee pitching staff losing Cortes. Stroman to start tonight and Poteet called up from AAA and now on Yankee main roster taking Cortes place.
Todays Yankee Lineup
Marcus Stroman RHP
G Torres (R) 2B
J Soto (L) RF
A Judge (R) CF
A Wells (L) C
G Stanton (R) DH
J Chisholm Jr. (L) 3B
J Domínguez (S) LF
A Rizzo (L) 1B
A Volpe (R) SS
I don't know if it is only me, but I cringe when I see Stanton in the lineup. Yes, he is always a threat, but his failures, futile swings, and opposing pitchers are not at all afraid to pitch to him. Heck, they can get him out with pitchers a foot or more out of the strike zone in any direction. Stroman on the spot in replacing Cortes tonight.
We just have to play with the hand we are dealt. Need the lineup tonight to score. Just would like Stroman to keep us in the game and give us a chance. Sort of like last night and Schmidt, maybe a run or two better would be great.
Nightmare alert, Stroman starts game by giving up single, single, single, single, single, single, safe on error, Yanks down 3-0 and coming to bat. It could have been far worse,
Yankees getting hammered, down 7-1 after four.
Yanks down 8-3 after 7.
It's over. Yankees lose 9-7. It was never close. Stroman gave up 6 runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Soto 2 run HR and Judge 3 run HR made the score close. It was never close.
Cole starts tomorrow to prevent a sweep. Series is lost, which is a good thing since the Yanks had won five straight. Rather lose a series now and then have another series streak during the playoffs.
Score seven runs and get trounced. I wish the Yankees saved those runs for tomorrow.
It doesn't have to be, but it would be nice to clinch the division by defeating the Orioles today.
Losing Cortes really hurts. He provided the ability to start and more likely come out of the bullpen as a strong lefthanded arm who was battle tested and crafty.

Same lineup as last night that scored seven runs, four in the ninth inning. The 'ace' may need to pitch a shutout for however long he goes.
