Hello WIN METHOD fans. It is that time, the 2017 MLB season is set to begin, tomorrow the games count. The magic of the spring training 25-9 record means nothing. The home runs, runs batted in, the wins, the losses the strike outs, etc, none of it makes a bit of difference. Now is when it counts and matters, performing under pressure, and producing when it matters to earn wins for the team is all that counts. WINS and only wins will, by seasons end, determine who are the best teams and players. They will be the players that help lead their teams to the playoffs.
The YANKEES for 2017 and beyond are blessed with an abundance of talent all through the organization. And success breeds success as each youngster pressures and pushes the players ahead of them to reach the final goal of reaching and playing in the major leagues. Once there, the goal of making the playoffs and advancing to the World Series can be reached. Hal Steinbrenner has come on board the WIN METHOD train and his decision is going to reap benefits as the YANKEES reach the playoffs more consistently and the fans come to the ballpark to see the new young talent for years to come.
The YANKEES will start the 2017 with three youngsters in the starting lineup. Aaron Judge in right field, Greg Bird at first base, Gary Sanchez catching. Unfortunately, shortstop Didi Gregorius is starting the season on the disabled list, hurting his shoulder playing in the sham world baseball classic fiasco. The YANKEES have added youngster Pete Kozma to the roster to fill in until Didis' return.
Johnathon Holder another youngster is also on the roster as a relief pitcher to start the season. During the season you will likely see many different youngsters see some time on the YANKEE roster and do not be surprised to see one or two stick with the team this season. Two of the brightest prospects are Gleyber Torres who is on the cusp of sticking with YANKEES this season and has a very bright future ahead of him. The second is Blake Rutherford who will start the season in single 'A' Charleston as a nineteen year old. Blake is my own personal favorite to be a real big star in the major leagues as he shows much of the character, charisma, talent and desire of Derek Jeter. Can you all imagine having a youngsters follow in the footsteps of Jeter who was the best MLB player in baseball over his twenty year career. More playoffs, pennants, the World Series rings than any other player in baseball over his playing time span.
The WIN METHOD blog has now exceeded over one hundred sixty-four million views and the number one baseball blog in the world. The growth over the past two years has been exponential as more people are learning that only WINS and winning determine who the best players and teams are in baseball. Individual stats show abilities of players to play at different degrees. Batting average, power, speed can be illustrated via individual stats for hitters, while strikeouts, walks, hits allowed can be illustrated for pitchers. But, the ability of any player to be the best can only be shown by WINS and winning. You can't be the best unless you win. WIN METHOD fans already know this, and as more and more people from all over the world read, enjoy, and follow this blog, they also become the smartest baseball fans in the world. They have learned that no players individual stats are more important than wins and winning. Wins and winning is the goal of every team and should be for every player. Wins and winning is what makes the WIN METHOD the best player evaluation tool in the world.
Now, as the 2017 season begins, we are looking for a winning season, the playoffs and beyond, as the team keeps getting better and more youngster keep getting better and becoming good enough to make the big league team. Thank you, to all you fans from all over the world, baseballs brightest and most knowledgeable. Lets all get ready for a great season. LETS GO YANKEES.

«Oldest ‹Older 1201 – 1400 of 1452 Newer› Newest»Pineda showing nothing and puts Yankees down 5-4 after 3.
Yanks down 5-4 after 4.
5-5 after 6.
Yankees bring in Herrera in seventh for his first MLB appearance and he surrenders two run home run putting Yankees down 7-5 after seven innings.
The Yanks have played some very sloppy baseball tonight. And Pinedas effort did not help.
Fianl..loss 7-5. Lose the Angel series playing poorly.
Throwing out my thoughts on the Angels and Mike Trout. Realizing it has only been three weeks, but the Angels have played better winning baseball since Mike Trouts injury that took him out of the lineup. Mike Trout has a world of talent and amazing individual stats. However individual stats and not helping your team win tells much, and in my opinion explains why no player is worth the millions of dollars they are paid unless their team wins consistently to make the playoffs and more. Build from within and that is what the Yankees should do and not entertain the upcoming high dollar free agents who have not helped their team win.
To have a winning road trip we will have to take 3 of 4 in Oakland.
William Mensom...As usual a very spot on comment. I agree. Unless WIN METHOD say "yes" stay away from high priced long term contracts and players.
Sometimes as fans we get to close to our team. The events that happen in games happen to all teams. The best teams will limit the negative events and likely will have more positive events at seasons end.
Monty starts tonight. Break the skid guys. Perform when it counts and don't play stupid.
William Mensom, I know you know, but for newer posters and readers here...it is a tenet of the WIN METHOD that the best players help their teams win no matter what their individual stats may be, and that the lesser players don't help their team win no matter what their individual stats may be. The team winning is achieved by all players contributing the best they can both offensively and defensively. Producing when it matters most will always define the best players and teams no matter how many or how much any one single player performs according to his meaningless stats.
In closely contested games the combination of hitting, pitching, and defense working in unison in a timely fashion usually wins games by producing when it matters.
You guys really know baseball here. No wonder the Yankees have won more than any other team in baseball.
yankeeclipper21, The Yankees winning since the 1990's has been WIN METHOD.

Holiday out? Carter in?
Yankees quickly down 1-0 after 1. Yanks left bases loaded in 1st and did not score with a man on 3rd and less than 2 out.
Yanks down 3-0 after 2.
Yanks finally score and down 4-3 after 6.
Yankees down 5-4 after 7. The Yankees have tied this game twice and each time the pitchers have given the lead right back.
Yanks tie it again, 5-5 mid 8th. The bullpen needs to do its job now.
For third straight inning Yankee bullpen allows run when Yankees tie game in top of inning. Down 6-5 in top of 9th.
Castro double Sanchez single tie it in 9th and still batting.
6-6 with A's coming to bat in 9th.
Extra innings 6-6.
This has been one heck of a crazy game.
Yanks take first lead of game in 10th 7-6. Gallegos coming in for the save try.
Unbelievable, with 2 out and no one on the A's score 2 runs and the final score is an 8-7 Yankee loss.
i don't believe this game and this loss.
It was only a game, and if it was a playoff or World Series game it may easily have been called a game for the ages or a one of the greatest games of all time. Just have to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves, off and move forward.
Now we have ti win the next three games to have a winning road trip.

No Gardner, no Hicks, no Sanchez, no Didi. Carter batting 5th. OMG
Louie Louie needs to come up big tonight.
Our best in baseball 4 man outfield has 3 out of action.
Half the Yankee team is injured.
Yankees down again, 4-0 after 2. Severino getting hit hard. This is turning into one horrid road trip.
Judge with a 3 run HR in 3rd cuts A's lead to 4-3.
Yanks down 4-3 after 4.
Louie Louie not sharp but has had that one bad inning and Yankees have come back to tie score 4-4 after 5.
Yanks up 5-4 after 6 on Carter HR.
Yankees take lead 6-5 after 7. No one in the bullpen has been effective yesterday and today so far.
Holder fails miserably when it counts giving up 2 8th inning runs putting Yanks in hole 7-6 after 8.
Yankees don't score and lose another one run game 7-6.
Final Yanks lose 7-6.
We are playing our worst and nothing is going right. We will survive. Yes we can.
Tanaka today and boy oh boy we can sure use a win.
Everyone in the bullpen has stunk up the place lately. The worm will turn. Yes it will and yes we will.
We can sure use several wins.
Right now in each game the opposition is producing better than we are when it counts and matters and they are winning as a team while we lose as a team.

Besides the injured out of lineup Castro out today also.
Tanaka gives up HR on first pitch of game then K's the next 3 batters. Yankees down 1-0 afte one.
Tanaka gives up solo HR in 2nd after Yanks score 2. 2-2 thru 2.
Yanks down 5-2 after six and look terrible.
Final: a loss 5-2. And looked bad losing.
This has turned out to be a very sad road swing. 1-5 with a game to go.
Cessa tomorrow. Wonder if any regulars will be able to play.
Look at it this way, we are playing as bad as we can and are still in first place.
The good and the bad. Bad, we are on a five game losing streak. Good, we are in first place up one game.
The Yankee lead is down to one game but it is still a lead. Time to reverse the skid and start winning again.
This is a good time to make a point regarding the WIN METHOD. We know that wins and winning determine the best players and teams and meaningless individual stats do not. As any individual players for any team mount or decline and the individual player gets lauded or demeaned, the only thing that matters is if the team wins or loses. The individual stats of each player are relatively meaningless. For example, a team goes on a streak of wins and the high stat individual player is lauded, then the same team goes on a streak of losses and the high individual stat player does not get demeaned, the other guys on the team get blamed. It is the same players on the same team. All players on each team contribute to a teams wins and losses. At the ind of the season the best players and teams will have the best win/loss records.
Too many stat frauds (not all) but far too many always blame their high individual stats players team mates when the team loses and when the shoe is on their other hoof credit the high individual stats team mates when his team wins. You can't have it both ways, frauds.
A win today would help.
No lineup yet, maybe Joe is waiting to see who can go and who cannot.

Everyones back but Hicks. Lets go Yankees.
Yanks up 1-0 after 2.
Cessa gets tagged for 4 runs in 3rd putting the Yankees down 4-2.
Yanks down 4-3 after 4.
One positive, Chapman is back and will pitch today no matter what the score is.
Yanks down 4-3 after 6. Come on guys.
Final, sixth consecutive loss 4-3. Just not producing.
We head home and have an off day. Then the rubber meets the road.
The sux and Yankees are tied for first with the Yankees holding the edge because they have lost one game less and a team can't make up a loss.
Off day, regroup, come back with a win streak to erase the losses.
You lose six consecutive games and are still first tells me this team is pretty darn good.
It will be nice to have Chapman back.
Yankee rookie Torres out for season. Going to have Tommy John surgery on his non throwing arm (at least that is good). He injured arm with a head first slide into home plate in a AAA game.
Supposed to be fully ready for spring training 2018.
Pineda starts tomorrow night home game against the Angels.
Tough break for Torres, but these kids need to be taught to only slide with their feet first and their spikes sharpened and not head first where their key parts of their body are at risk.
Steve, the head first divers could be weaned off diving and made to slide feet first immediately with a graduated fine. $1,000. first dive, $2,000 second dive, $5,000 third dive, $10,000 fourth dive, %20,000 fifth dive, etc. That should stop the dives pretty quick.
Torres injury causes him to lose a lot of development time and I would think it would be hard for him to start the 2018 season on the Yankee team which he likely surely would have.
This just may set back Torres a bit.
Tome for a win S T R E A K >>>>>>>>
All the pitchers should be rested and ready, at least the ones that are healthy. Pineda and the others need to step up their game and give the lineup a chance to win without having to score a lot of runs.
There is an old saying that 'every knock is a boost'. Translating into baseball, every loss should be a learning experience.

Lets close out June with a bang. Yes we can.
Time to get back to playing WIN METHOD baseball and get on a roll.
Maybe Big Mike will throw a good game tonight, that would help.
Pineda gives up 3 runs in 2 innings putting Yanks in hole quickly.
After four innings Yankees trail 3-1.
After Yankees fight back to tie game at 3 on Judge and Sanchez home runs, Clippard come in in 7th and immediately give up 3 runs putting Yanks down 6-3. This has to stop.
Yankees down 7-3 after 8 and on track for 7th straight loss.
Final, seventh consecutive loss 8-3.
Wow, are we looking bad.
The Yankees are digging a hole and need to stop digging.
Monty's turn to try to put the brakes on tonight.
A rookie pitcher to lead the staff out of the depths?
Somebody may want to give that worm a poke.
Yes fans we will start to win and play better baseball again.

At least Carter is not in the lineup. I feel a win is nearby.
Lets go Yankees.
OK fans. I was almost afraid to post this, but I will be at tonights game.
Bring us home Teena.
Baseball can be a fickle game. One moment you are on a six game win streak, pounding every opposing pitcher, scoring far too many runs that is needed and the next day you go on a seven game losing streak and con't do a single thing right to win.
I'll be rooting for you Teena and the Yankees. Yes we can.
Zhaire...ups and downs, peaks and valleys, every team and player goes through them. It still always comes down to who wins the most after 162 games. Not 10, 30, 60, or 100.
We score first. Didi 2 run HR in 2nd.
Yanks up 2-0 after 2.
2-2 after 4.
Holiday fifth inning HR gives Yankees 3-2 lead after five.
Hooray for Teena.
Yanks lead 8-2 after 8 and it looks like the streak is over.
Romine with the big hit when it mattered batting in the nine hole instead of Carter.
Girardi brings in Clippard for the 9th to try to straighten him out. Gives up double to lead off batter.
Next batter HR. Clippard relieved immediately with Chapman.
Chapman goes 1,2,3. Final Yankees 8 Angels 4.
Final, a win, the losing is done 8-4.
Clippard is going thru a worse streak than the Yankees. But that to will come to an end.
That is one heck of a record Teena has when she goes to Yankees games.
The slide has been stopped. Next step win tonight.
Monty earned the win last night, Louie Louie earns the win tonight.
Lets move forward one game at a time. Lets go Yankees.
We can take this series tonight with a win and then we have four games with the tough Astros team.
We just have to get back in stride and producing when it counts to earn wins. Lets do it.

Headley gets night off. Carter in lineup again.
It was really great of Girardi and it showed how much he relates to his players, that when he took Clippard out last night after two batters he stood on the mound with his hand covering his lips and just looked into Clippards eyes and talked to him one on one. Clippard nodded several times as Girardi kept talking to him. Girardi is a class act unlike the garbage stat frauds who berate and demean him constantly.
Steve,, I noticed what Girardi did also. It looked like Clippard was accepting Joe's words.
Steve, KevMac,......I agree. Girardi is a fine manager.
5-1 Yankees after 2 on Judge 3 run Ballantine blast.
Yanks lead 5-3 after 5.
Betances implodes in relief, Yanks down 8-5 after 7 after being up 5-1.
Yankees down 10-5 mid 8th. Disaster. What a sloppy game we played. Embarrassing.
Final, Yanks go down 10-5.
What a rotten string of games we have played.
We have the Rangers for four games starting tomorrow. Can we even think about 3 of 4.
Louie Louie wasn't at his best last night, he left with the lead and then the bullpen failed miserably. Isn't it great that the season is still early and the 162 game season demonstrates why baseball is the best sport in the world. Every team and player has ups and downs, their are injuries and in the end there is enough time for the best to rise to the top and be the best.
Tanaka opens the four game series with Texas tonight. Tanaka to be an ace needs to lead from in front and be dominant and win consistently.
The Yankees do have a bunch of kids champing on the bit waiting turn chance on the big stage and under the bright lights. With some of our older players unable to perform when it counts, I would think it logical that the youngsters be given a chance. But I am sure management knows this and that there are other considerations involved that I have no knowledge about.
These last 10 games is close to being as bad as it gets. We have now had 2 major poor bad 10 game stratches while having 5 winning stretches, 3 very good and 2 good.
10. 6-4
20. 7-3 = 13-7
30. 8-2 = 21-9
40. 3-7 = 24-16
50. 6-4 = 30-20
60. 7-3 = 37-23
70. 2-8 = 39-31
Still in first place by only percentage points. We must play better if we want the playoffs.

Same lineup as last night. Hope better results. Did score 5 runs, but the pitchers gave up more.
hope we get this series off on the right foot.
RAIN DELAY
No score after two.
Pitchers duel. 0-0 after 6.
Both starters were brilliant. Darvish for 7 innings, Tanaka for 8. Neither will earn a decision. 0-0 thru 8.
Chapman stinks up the place and give up first run of game. yanks down 1-0 coming to bat in 9th.
Gardner with game tying homer.
Extra innings. 1-1 after 9.
Torreyes wins it with 2 out walk off rbi single in tenth.
Final in 10, 2-1 Yankee win.
Lets not forget Carters ultimate failure in the 10th striking out again for the 2nd out with a man on 3rd and not scoring him on an out.
Cessa goes this afternoon. Lets make it 2 wins in a row. It's been a long time.
Tanaka pitched his best game of the season last night and gave us a chance to win. Gardner clutch HR and Torreyes walk off game winning hit. Need to build on that today.
Carter is finally gone. Tyler Austin called up. We are better already.
I would think Austin will be at first base today with Carter 86ed.

Williams in cf for Hicks who is in left for Gardner. Austin at 1b. Carter is no longer with us.
Next step is to get Bird back and WELL.
For sure we are a better team with Austin on roster instead of Carter.
Yanks down 1-0 after 2.
Yanks down 3-0 after 4.
Judge HR in 6th nets Yankees first run, down 3-1 after 6.
Yanks down 3-1 after 6.
Austin can't be worse than Carter. Three at bats, K, K, DP. 4 outs in 3 at bats.
Girardi may have given up on this game. With the Yankees down 4-1 going into the 9th, he brings Clippard in to work out his woes and Clippard gives up 4 runs before finishing the inning putting Yankees down 8-1.
Final, Yankees trounced 8-1 and not looking good right now.
Series even and rubber game tomorrow afternoon.
Pineda tomorrow to win a series in a long time.
Lets go Yankees.
If we can win four or five series in a row, we may not have a long winning streak of games but we will build a lead in the division.

Would like to see get a big hit or two real soon so he doesn't become associated with Carter in a negative way.
Big Mike quickly puts his team in the hole 3-0 in first inning.
Pineda gives up 3 run HR in second putting Yankees in a 6-0 hole.
Sanchez 3 run HR in 5th gets Yankees back in game somewhat. Down 7-4 after 5.
Yanks down 7-6 after 7.
Final. Yanks lose 7-6.
Big Mike gave the game away by himself. See ya Mike.
It seems like we are playing in an abyss. Everything is wrong in a unison leading to defeat after defeat. Watch out when we get our act together. Any day now.
Monty tonight in the first of four against the White Sox. We could really use all four.
We need to start winning or we will get passed by several teams.
Did anyone think that after the past three weeks of baseball we are playing we would be in first place? Now think about where we will be when we start winning again.
I can't wait until Greg Bird gets into this lineup. I believe he will do very well.
Eddie... I agree, we are hanging tough because no AL East team is better than us. You are right, when we start winning we will draw off.

Different look. Ellsbury back in lineup. Holiday & Didi out. Hicks out for a month. Castro batting in the 2 hole. Austin in 5 hole.
I sort of like Castro batting second.
Interesting to see Austin hitting 5th behind Judge and Sanchez. Girardi is giving him a golden opportunity. It is up to Austin to produce.
Castro hurt running to first in 3rd. Hamstring?
Yankees trail 1-0 after 3.
Five complete. Yanks up 3-1.
Austin HR in 6th for 4-1 lead.
6-1 Yanks after 6.
Shreve in for 9th and gives up 3 run HR to cut lead to 6-4. Chapman called in.
Chapman in, allows single and rbi double. Lead cut to 6-5, man on 2nd with 1 out.
Ground out for 2nd out. Runner at 2nd.
Fly out game over.
Final 6-5 win. The good, Monty great 7 innings. The bad, bullpen crashes again. Chapman could not miss a bat. Two hits and two batted outs.
Nothing is coming easy. Now Castro out. Yankees calling up Wade from AAA. Our kids are getting their opportunity. Sad it is because of injuries.
Seven great innings from Monty then Holder and Betances in the 8th loading the bases but at least not allowing a run. Then Shreve and Chapman in the 9th both pitching poorly and both giving up runs before the Sox ran out of outs. Allowed 4 runs and scraped by 6-5.
Louie Louie tonight. He goes against a stat fraud favorite Jose 'dirtbag' Quintana. Bury him Louie Louie.
