Hello WIN METHOD fans. It is that time, the 2017 MLB season is set to begin, tomorrow the games count. The magic of the spring training 25-9 record means nothing. The home runs, runs batted in, the wins, the losses the strike outs, etc, none of it makes a bit of difference. Now is when it counts and matters, performing under pressure, and producing when it matters to earn wins for the team is all that counts. WINS and only wins will, by seasons end, determine who are the best teams and players. They will be the players that help lead their teams to the playoffs.
The YANKEES for 2017 and beyond are blessed with an abundance of talent all through the organization. And success breeds success as each youngster pressures and pushes the players ahead of them to reach the final goal of reaching and playing in the major leagues. Once there, the goal of making the playoffs and advancing to the World Series can be reached. Hal Steinbrenner has come on board the WIN METHOD train and his decision is going to reap benefits as the YANKEES reach the playoffs more consistently and the fans come to the ballpark to see the new young talent for years to come.
The YANKEES will start the 2017 with three youngsters in the starting lineup. Aaron Judge in right field, Greg Bird at first base, Gary Sanchez catching. Unfortunately, shortstop Didi Gregorius is starting the season on the disabled list, hurting his shoulder playing in the sham world baseball classic fiasco. The YANKEES have added youngster Pete Kozma to the roster to fill in until Didis' return.
Johnathon Holder another youngster is also on the roster as a relief pitcher to start the season. During the season you will likely see many different youngsters see some time on the YANKEE roster and do not be surprised to see one or two stick with the team this season. Two of the brightest prospects are Gleyber Torres who is on the cusp of sticking with YANKEES this season and has a very bright future ahead of him. The second is Blake Rutherford who will start the season in single 'A' Charleston as a nineteen year old. Blake is my own personal favorite to be a real big star in the major leagues as he shows much of the character, charisma, talent and desire of Derek Jeter. Can you all imagine having a youngsters follow in the footsteps of Jeter who was the best MLB player in baseball over his twenty year career. More playoffs, pennants, the World Series rings than any other player in baseball over his playing time span.
The WIN METHOD blog has now exceeded over one hundred sixty-four million views and the number one baseball blog in the world. The growth over the past two years has been exponential as more people are learning that only WINS and winning determine who the best players and teams are in baseball. Individual stats show abilities of players to play at different degrees. Batting average, power, speed can be illustrated via individual stats for hitters, while strikeouts, walks, hits allowed can be illustrated for pitchers. But, the ability of any player to be the best can only be shown by WINS and winning. You can't be the best unless you win. WIN METHOD fans already know this, and as more and more people from all over the world read, enjoy, and follow this blog, they also become the smartest baseball fans in the world. They have learned that no players individual stats are more important than wins and winning. Wins and winning is the goal of every team and should be for every player. Wins and winning is what makes the WIN METHOD the best player evaluation tool in the world.
Now, as the 2017 season begins, we are looking for a winning season, the playoffs and beyond, as the team keeps getting better and more youngster keep getting better and becoming good enough to make the big league team. Thank you, to all you fans from all over the world, baseballs brightest and most knowledgeable. Lets all get ready for a great season. LETS GO YANKEES.

«Oldest ‹Older 401 – 600 of 1452 Newer› Newest»I see they are chopping heads at ESPN with many talking heads going down the Rangoon receptacle. Their stat garbage and stat casts and their lauding individual achievements have been nauseating to knowledgeable baseball fans who detest their talking baloney. The only thing ESPN is good for is televising games, but sadly too many of their announcers are garbage also. I don't need to have the camera on the garbage announcers when they are talking, keep the camera on the game.
Holiday first inning HR for early 1-0 lead.
johnsondc. far too many people have been brain washed with meaningless stats.
WHEN......2nd and 3rd no outs. Higashioka Ks. Then Gardner Ks. Then Hicks Ks. Hope this is not a game defining inning.
Yanks lead 2-1 after 3 but have left 7 men on base in 3 innings.
3-1 Yanks after 3.
Yankees down 4-2 after 6, but a hit or two when it mattered and the could be winning by 4 or 5. Still 3 innings to go.
Yanks down 4-2 after 8.
We have one more chance. If we fail, go back to that 2nd inning of futility.
Didi delivers with 2 outs and bags full for 4-4 tie in 9th. Finally.
This game shouldn't even have gone to the 9th. Come on guys, end it.
Carter K's looking. Extra innings.
Brian Mitchell playing 1b in the 10th.
Chapman K's the side in 10th. Time to win.
Romine single, Gardner sac bunt fielders choice all runners safe, Hicks sac bunt. 2nd and 3rd one out Bird pinch hits for Holiday. Bird HBP, bags full. Castro hits into force out at plate 2 outs bags full, Judge up. Judge K's. 3 more men left on base.
It could almost be said, we do not deserve to win this game.
Mitchell back pitching in the 11th. Bird at first.
Orioles produce once again when it matters to take 5-4 lead in 11th. The wheels fall off the wagon as O's score 2 more for a 7-4 lead. Oh my, what a sad day.
One very very very very very sad loss.
Game over 7-4 loss.
This was a team effort loss. Likely everyone had a chance of two to put the game away early and failed. Learn and move on, build on defeat, commensurate, then bloom and grow.
What is done is done. We start a new series tomorrow. Win that one.
We close out this home stand with three games with the Blue Jays. Possible issue with the weather however. Take the series and move forward.
Louie Louie is scheduled to start tonight.
Inclement weather may have affect on tonights game. A front is headed this way.
Likely most fans here are Yankee fans, but I would like to offer my condolences to our crosstown rival Mets baseball team and their fans who are undergoing a very bad time right now with the amount of horrid injuries several of their players are experiencing.
sid greenberg,nyc.....very nice of you. I concur. Injuries are no fun.
No matter what, I hate losing a game like yesterdays. Far too many chances to produce and didn't.
Monday 5/1 7:05pm
Luis Severino (R)
vs. Blue Jays - Marco Estrada (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
5. Jacoby Ellsbury (L) CF
6. Aaron Judge (R) RF
7. Greg Bird (L) 1B
8. Austin Romine (R) C
9. Ronald Torreyes (R) 3B
Something a little different from Joe Girardi.
It has been pointed out here many times, it doesn't make any difference where you bat in the lineup, what matters is that you produce when it matters. That wins games.
Not a bad lineup, can't wait until Sanchez is added to it.
Then in another year or so, Torres and Rutherford, etal. No way do you spend $40 mil/yr on any free agents. Now if something untoward occurs, maybe.
Lets roll guys. Take this series. Dominate Louie Louie. Yes we can.
Yankees down 2-0 after 2.
Yanks trail 2-1 after 4. Bird not looking good. K and rally killing DP.
Yankees down 5-1 after 6.
Louie Louie struggled tonight allowing five runs. Yanks down 7-1 after 8.
Final 7-1 loss. Did not look good tonight. Appeared lifeless.
Tanaka tonight to try to even series.
As of now I have one major disappointment with the season so far. Greg Bird. Something needs to be done to get him back on the right track. Playing him almost everyday and failing is not good for him or for the team. 1.Maybe he should play against lefty pitching. 2.Maybe he should be sent down to AAA. Carter is not the answer.
Victor Grandozi, I just don't know how long you let Bird go. If the team keeps winning, I guess you can go a very long time with him. If the team starts struggling then a different route may be necessary.
Birds wonderful spring training was such a waste, months like March need to happen when the games count, not when they don't. Remember how good Billy McKinney looked in March, he has been as bad as Bird has been and he is in AAA not producing.
Tuesday 5/2 7:05pm
Masahiro Tanaka (R)
vs. Blue Jays - Mat Latos (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Chase Headley (S) 3B
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Starlin Castro (R) 2B

7. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
8. Chris Carter (R) 1B
9. Austin Romine (R) C
Carter at 1b against a right hander. Bird????
Bird was placed on the 10 DL because of his ankle. Refsynder called up. That stinks.
Well if the ankle is causing that much of a problem, so be it. Just get it corrected. We didn't seem to have an issue with Didi and Sanchez being out for an extended time frame.
That leaves us a left handed bat short again.
And we are feeling sorry for the Mets?
If Bird can get over his injury (if that is the problem) we should be in good shape. It is a long season.
Every team has injuries to some degree. Injuries tend to measure a team depth.
How do the Yankees let this happen. They seem to have allowed the injury to fester over a month now. Played what appears to have been a bat short, and now on the DL. Something is not kosher.
Bird had an MRI today that revealed the bone bruise in his ankle is no better than it was in the last MRI in early April. Hard to believe things like this happen in multi-million dollar organizations.
Wouldn't it be smart that once you give an MRI to find the problem, you give another MRI to make sure the problem is cleared??????
Gus Papa, wouldn't that be common sense?
We do need to win tonight. Every game counts.
Sad. Yankees open first with three straight hits, one run in, men on second and third, then don't score any more. 1-0 after one.
Hicks 2 run HR followed by Gardner 2 run HR in 2nd for 5-0 lead.
Yanks up 5-0 after 2.
Judge solo HR for 6-0 lead after 3.
Gardner in 4th 2nd HR of game, a solo job for a 7-0 lead.
Yanks up 7-0 after 4.
We are about at the point where Yankee runs are meaningless now.
Judge 3 run home run in 7th.
Final 11-5 win.
Easy win tonight.
Rubber game tonight. CC goes.
A win today would be very nice.
CC needs to come up big tonight.
If we hit like last night we can win tonight.
This a a pretty big game tonight for several reasons, one of which is a road trip is coming up. Nice to leave home on a win and a winning series.
If CC keeps it close, and the lineup produces when it counts, we win.
Wednesday 5/3 7:05pm
CC Sabathia (L)
vs. Blue Jays - Marcus Stroman (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
3. Matt Holliday (R) DH
4. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
5. Aaron Judge (R) RF
6. Chase Headley (S) 3B
7. Chris Carter (R) 1B
8. Ronald Torreyes (R) SS
9. Kyle Higashioka (R) C
Three left handed bats in lineup tonight and two are switch hitters against a tough right hander.
Hope we can get some help from Carter and Higashioka tonight. But they both are far better than the bad old days of afraud, the black hole, being in the lineup.
Ahhhhhhh!!! afraud, one of the biggest dirt bags to ever don the Yankee pinstripes. A black mark on Yankee history.
Lets go guys, lets play some WIN METHOD baseball. Win.
Hope we have a ladder as CC puts Yanks in a hole allowing 4 first inning runs.
Holiday 3 run HR gets us climbing out.
CC still digging, gives up 2 more in 2nd.
Yanks down 6-3 after 2.
Judge on the ladder with a 2 run HR in 3rd. Yankees trail 6-5 after 3.
Yankees load bases in 5th but Higgy K's looking for final out. Still trail 6-5 after 5.
Yanks rally in 7th, score 3 for an 8-6 lead.
Now to hold it with Betances and Chapman. Yes we can.
Betances with a 1,2,3 8th.
Yanks up 8-6 after 8.
Five innings of shutout ball from the bullpen and the win.
Final 8-6 big time win.
What a nice win. Sure didn't look good early.
A well deserved day off tomorrow. A solid 6-2 home stand against the AL East competition.
Nice ending the homestand 6-2. Nice having off day. Better to keep playing WIN METHOD baseball. Best is having a player with the talent, character, integrity, and charisma of Aaron Judge.
Lets go Yankees. Never give up.
Word is Sanchez to be in lineup this weekend.
Three games in Chicago against the Cubs this weekend and our rotation is Big Mike, Monty, and Louie Louie.
It sure looks like WIN METHOD has found the Yankees another gem of a player and human being in the mold of Derek Jeter.
Castro gets to play against his former team this weekend.
If Sanchez is back all we are missing is Bird.
In case any fans do not know....TODAYS GAME AGAINST THE CUBS IS AT 2:00PM.
Big Mike Pineda this afternoon. Would love a gem from Big Mike and the bats to produce when it counts.
I am so stoked with this team and what WIN METHOD has done for the Yankees working with Hal Steinbrenner as he did with Mr.S. We can bloom and grow out own and not spend a ransom for big name free agents. That thought process should fit right in with Hal.
I can't wait to see Girardis lineup. The man is genius and innovative.
Friday 5/5 2:20pm
Michael Pineda (R)
@ Cubs - Kyle Hendricks (R)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
3. Gary Sanchez (R) C
4. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
5. Aaron Judge (R) RF
6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Chase Headley (S) 3B
8. Chris Carter (R) 1B
9. Michael Pineda (R) P
Sanchez in, Ellsbury still out. Inferior league baseball with no designated hitter.
Taking this afternoon off to watch game at home.
Would really like winning game one today.
Everybody hits. Lets go Yankees.
What we have today is the next World Champions playing the present World Champions. Got to be optimistic, just like I know WIN METHOD is optimistic.
I will be posting a season tracking post periodically, and I will explain it to everyone. I got the idea from a post here a while back.
44 degrees game time temperature in Chicago. Strong wind blowing in.
Pineda gets a first inning reality check giving up HR as Cubs take 1-0 lead after one.
Yanks down 1-0 after 2.
Yankees 0-5 with RISP so far today. Trailing 1-0 after 5.
Yanks down 1-0 after 5.
Yanks down 2-0 after 6.
Pineda has given up 2 hits, both solo HRs and trails 2-0 thru 6. The Yankees have 7 hits, had 2 men thrown out at the plate and have hit into 3 DPs.
A defining WIN METHOD when it counts event. Down 2-0 in the 9th, 2 Yankees reach base, with 2 men out and 2 on Gardner comes to bat, with 2 strikes on him and the Yankees down to their last strike, Gardner hits a 3 run HR WHEN it matters most and gives the Yankees a 3-2 lead and a chance to win the game.
OMG!
Chapman in to try to save it.
Even if we would have lost today or do lose, we can play and beat anybody. And we will.
Headley boots easy grounder to start ninth. Runner on second no outs.
Chapman gets first out on looking K.
Chapman gets 2nd out on infield grounder to Headley, runner still on 2nd. One more out.
Chapman gets 3rd out and save on 3 pitch K.
Final win 3-2.
A great come from behind win. Yes we can.
Don't forget the 2 men who got on base so Gardners HR could put the Yankees in front. Team effort, all wins are a team effort. To heck with individual stats and stat frauds.
What a sweet never give up win.
This is the highest I have felt about the Yankees since Jeters retirement.
Yes a big win. However, we did shoot ourselves in the foot several times early in the game to create the final scenario. Baseball is a funny game, and the best sport in the world.
Big Mike did his job and kept us in the game, with the bullpen doing its job for the win and save. Monty to get his chance tomorrow night. If you think today was cold, imagine a night game tomorrow.
We won the first game, now to take game two.
Jordan Montgomery starts tonight as he blooms and grows. 7 PM game on FOX network.
A point about producing when it counts. In yesterdays game, the Yankees had several chances early in the game to produce when it counted, but failed. What that means is that the opposing team which is trying to win the game produced when it counted to prevent the Yankees from scoring. One of the teams is going to reach the desired outcome of the win. The teams that reach the most desired outcomes, wins, over the season reach the playoffs. The point being made is how often a team produces with runners is scoring position is a stat. An important stat, but winning and wins has, is now, and always will be the only stat that determines the best.
WIN METHOD...It's all just common sense.
Thank you WIN METHOD. Love ya'
Monty has earned his rotation spot. Now to refine his craft, learn at the MLB level, and win consistently.
Looking at what WIN METHOD posted. In essence the Yankees could have come into the 9th inning with never having a chance to produce when it mattered. Then in the 9th inning 2 men reached base to setup a chance to produce when it mattered. A single would have extended the inning and then another batter would have had a chance to produce, if Garners drive hits the wall, both runners would have scored to tie the game and another batter would have had a chance to produce when it counted. What the end game is, for the team to win. How many times you get a chance to produce when it counts or the percentage of times you produce when it counts are both just more stats. Just use common sense, a grand slam in the 8th inning when you are leading 1-0 or when you are trailing by reasonable amount of runs is important. Hitting a grand slam in the 8th inning when you are winning by many runs is meaningless. Common sense fans, not foolish stats.
Lets not wait until the ninth inning today guys. Score early and often.
Thanks for the info and update WIN METHOD. Love your blog and all the fans here. they know baseball and make it fun.
Stat frauds seem to like to anoint greatness or the best by using made up convoluted phony stats. Then when asked how their anointed player can be considered the best when his team doesn't make the playoffs, they with s straight face, blame their proclaimed stars team mates.
Stat frauds are the dumb baseball fans. They detest wins and call the winners lucky and or then credit the winners team mates. Stat frauds are the bottom feeders of the baseball world.
Saturday 5/6 7:15pm
Jordan Montgomery (L)
@ Cubs - Brett Anderson (L)
1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
3. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
4. Aaron Judge (R) RF
5. Gary Sanchez (R) C
6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Chase Headley (S) 3B
8. Chris Carter (R) 1B
9. Jordan Montgomery (L) P
Same as yesterday except Sanchez and Castro flipped.
Lets take the series today. Yes you can.
Produce when it counts, earn the runs, get a well pitched game and you can win enough to make the playoffs.
Yankees come out of the gate on with all cylinders firing scoring five times. Now, stay calm Monty and pitch your game.
5-0 Yanks after 2.
Castro 2 run HR in 4th for 8-0 lead.
Yanks up 8-0 after 4.
OK guys. Take it easy. Save some runs for another day.
Montgomery goes 6 2.3 innings and leaves leading 8-3. Very strong.
Hicks with unneeded 3 run HR in 8th for 11-3 lead.
Layne in for the 8th and gives up 3 runs. Warren has to come in to close out inning. 11-6 Yankees after 8.
Cubs using catcher Montero to pitch 9th trying to save bullpen.
Warren puts it to be with a 1,2,3 9th.
Final 11-6 win. A series win and a chance for a sweep.
A nice easy win. We deserve one.
Louie Louie tomorrow to go for the sweep. And Judge is do.
We have the despised ESPN Sunday night game today. I guess I can accept it after winning the first two games over the Cubbies. The Yankees do have a lifetime 19-4 record against the Cubbies.
Louie Louie and the Yankees to try for the sweep tonight.
Hope Louie Louie has his act together tonight, really want to beat johnboy.
We produced early and often last night and cruise controlled to an easy win.
Hey there fans. This blog with the help from all you WIN METHOD from around the world just crossed the one hundred eighty million viewer mark. Thanks for being part of and making the WIN METHOD blog the best in the world.
bigbadwolf, hear hear.
Judge hasn't done anything in Chicago. Time to produce when it counts.
The stat frauds are deadly using their garbage stats. So many frauds wanted the Yankees to trade some blue chip youngsters for a sub .500 career starter Jose Quintana. So far this season Jose is 2-5 and lost today to the Orioles. We have Jordan Montgomery, home grown, cost us none of our talent, is younger, is a winner, and is all around a better pitcher than Quintana. Thanks WIN METHOD for helping stay the course.
We are blooming and growing. Watch Louie Louie tonight.
bigbadwolf, congratulations to all the intelligent baseball fans who read and post here. 180,000,000. WOW!
I hope the guys brought the brooms.
Score early again guys. It makes a difference.

Holiday at first base.
1-0 Yankees thru 1.
1-1 after four.
1-1 after 5.
Louie Louie goes seven complete dominant innings and leaves with a 2-1 lead. Betances and Chapman chomping on the bit?
Ellsbury 2 run HR in 8th for 2 big runs and a 4-1 lead.
Betances throws a shutout 8th. Still 4-1 Yanks.
No jinx, no jinx, get the brooms ready.
Chapman walk and single to first two batters.
Swinging K. 1 out 2 on.
RBI single, 1 out 2 on Yanks up 4-2.
RBI single Yanks up 4-3. Men on 1st and 3rd, one out.
OH no.
Man on first steals second. 2nd and 3rd one out.
Two out on a swinging K.
After reaching 3-1 count, intentional walk to load bases with 2 outs.
HBP for a tie game, bases still loaded. Game tied.
Chapman being taken out, Clippard in. Oh my.
I should be hung. I am embarrassed.
Maybe the Yankees didn't bring the brooms after all and we just didn't know it.
Chapman gave up 3 hits, 2 walks, and a HBP. But 3 runs and blows the save.
Clippard gets 3rd out on grounder to 2nd. Extra innings.
4-4 after 11. On to the 12th.
On to the 13th.
4-4 after 12. On to the 13th.
There is a 14th inning.
14 innings in the books. 4-4
I wonder how many people will miss work tomorrow.
We go to the 16th inning.
Castro comes to bat in 16th wearing ski mask. Maybe he is trying to fool the pitcher.
17th inning starts now.
All who have been watching have now watched and witnessed the MLB game with the most strikeouts by two teams ever.
Austin Romine goes down as the batter who breaks the record.
the only pitcher the Yankees have left after Shreve who is in now, is Layne.
18th inning.
