The 2016 Major League Baseball season starts today. The New York YANKEES first game will be tomorrow in New York against the Houston Astros. The starting rotation has been decided, the twenty-five man roster has been decided, and tomorrow the drive for the playoffs will begin. This is not fantasy baseball, played by stat fraud fools who live by meaningless individual statistics, this is real baseball where winning is determined by what all players on each team contribute to help their team win the most often. These contributions are measured by wins and players producing at the right time, when it matters, and not by how much or how many stats they produce for themselves as their team fails.
The injury bug has bitten the YANKEES, as it has bitten every team in one way or another. First baseman Greg Bird is likely out for the season. Pitcher Brian Mitchell may be out approximately three months, and pitcher Andrew Miller with a broken bone in his non throwing wrist may have been the luckiest, and will lose no playing time.
Several YANKEE WIN METHOD youngsters are blooming and growing and are on the roster to start the season, and several more are on the near horizon and will start their season in the minors.
Several years ago the WIN METHOD made a concerted effort to find pitching talent each season and the YANKEES drafted many of these youngsters. The time is here for some of these youngsters and the time for others is just around the corner.
The YANKEE management led by the brilliant dealing of General Manager Brian Cashman have added several new players to this seasons roster and have deepened the bench for 2016. Also, three very possible future stars are so near. Catcher Gary Sanchez, right fielder Aaron Judge, and shortstop Jorge Mateo are getting closer to the major league roster every day. Playing regularly in the minors right now is best for them and their development. But they will soon be heard from.
Remember fans, it is a long season, there will be ups and downs, and as always only wins and winning will be the determining factor on which teams earn playoffs spots and go on to the second season. Let the stat fraud fools play their fantasy games. We will play for real baseball and root for our team to win and root for the contributions of each player to help our team win.
LETS GO YANKEES

«Oldest ‹Older 1801 – 2000 of 2843 Newer› Newest»Betances and Miller have been used, we need to score.
Miller gives up HR on first pitch in ninth and Yankees lose 2-1.
It's a nightmare.
This is how you lose when you don't score crooked numbers when you have the chance. Failure by almost every player to produce when it counts has cost this team dearly all season.
Good night all wherever you are.
Didn't someone say a little while back that this just not be our season and the stars are aligned against us? It sure looks that way if that is what contributes to not producing when it matters. .500 will not make the playoffs. Losing one run games will not make the playoffs. There is still time.
Chad Green today to try not to get swept.
Nice late Sunday afternoon game, at least it's not the espn night game.
Green has been doing very well at AAA. He had a shot earlier in the season and struggled a bit. Lets see if he has improved.
Lets win by a bunch of runs so we can out hit and out pitch the Padres for the series but lose the series.
Game started. How can you tell? Sarcastically, the first two Yankees reached base, the 3,4,5 heart of the lineup could not even advance them a base much less score them.
1-1 after 2.
Yanks up 2-1 after 4.
Yanks lead 2-1 after 6.
Green threw six inning of one run ball and pitched one of the Yankees best games of the season. Looks like Girardi is going to the bullpen.
Betances struggles in 7th but grinds his way through inning keeping Yanks up 2-1.
Teixeira leads off 8th with HR. Yes, an insurance run.
Miller struggles through 8th just as bad as Betances in 7th and he also grinds his way out of the 8th with a 3-1 lead.
Yanks clinging to 3-1 lead after 8.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
Final 6-3 win.
You called it jimbo. Yankees outscored and outhit the Padres but lost the series. Yes stat frauds, your stats are meaningless.
We needed that. On to Chicago for a July 4th afternoon game.
CC tomorrow and we need innings. And we need to hit. And we need runs. And we need to win.
Tommy Lee, just more documentation that stats are meaningless. Anytime something is proven false, it just proves it should not be trusted. I have yet to see a win not be a proven fact.
Marty, we need to produce when it matters.
Jimbo- tommy lee
Yes, stats over three games are meaningless. Everyone says this. Stats over that small of a sample size don't prove anything one way or the other. The fact that you constantly site these examples as "evidence" of anything shows a great deal of ignorance.
Producing when it matters.......That is all baseball is. All the individual stats in the world do not make a player or a team the best. Producing when it matters and thus who wins determines the best players and and teams.
Happy 4th of July.
CC this afternoon. A win evens the road trip and we do need wins.
Steven Fischer, The ignorance is all on you. You are trying to quantify a fallacy. However any time someone can show any part of a concept to be false, the concept itself is false, no matter how you want to spin it.
Yesterday Milwaukee out hit St. Louis 16-11. Milwaukee loss. These serious faults in stats happen almost everyday, the same with series each week. The difference being, wins never is wrong. EVER!
This has been explained to you several times now. The team that wins, be it for one game, a series, a month are the best for said period of time. To make the playoffs at the end of the season the teams that go to the playoffs are determined by wins and only wins. It makes absolutely no difference what any stat is or who has the most and or least of any stat. It is only wins that matters. If you cannot understand and accept that fact that only leaves you in the wasteland of convoluted meaningless stats and the fantasy world.
Fact. You score more runs than your opponent in any one game, who win that game. Absolutely nothing else matters, absolutely no other stat matters. The losing pitcher can pitch a complete game with an 0.00 ERA.
Wake up Steven.
I'm wide awake.
Wins are the ultimate goal and the most important aspect of the team- yes.
However when evaluating individual players- you have to look at more than their teams wins to get a viable picture of their individual performance. Your examples show that you can't figure out an appropriate way to use statistics in analyzing results.
When you name one game where one team outhit the other as evidence that stats are useless, also proves you don't understand the appropriate way to use stats.
Stats aren't useless if you use them in the right ways, you guys clearly just don't understand how to use them, get confused, and go bah they're useless! I assure you the Yankee organization couldn't disagree with you more.
Steven, wins should be the goal of every player, not only the team. When a player plays for himself, the team fails more than it should. The facts stated by others here show why stats are meaningless, mainly because they do not always give the facts. That is why they mislead. The pitcher pitches nine inning and does not give up an earned run, but he losses. The hitter hits three HRs and has ten RBIs and his team loses. I can go on forever showing showing just how meaningless stats can be. Of course everyone uses stats. They tell me much about individuals. When I want to know who is best between pitchers and hitters I find the guys who win.
2 run HR for Headley in 2nd. 2-0.
Yanks up 2-0 after 2.
Steven F...just because who repeat the same thing over and over, does not mean it is right. You admit stats for a short time can be wrong, but miraculously over a long period of time they become valid. Wins are always right and valid, no matter what the time frame may be.
CC gives up 2 run HR in 4th. 2-2 game.
I bet every poster here uses stats to some degree, and likely in many different ways. I would also bet many fans here may have been stat frauds at one time. Finally I would bet, most if not all know that wins and winning is everything you need to know.
2-2 after 4.
candycane, yankeeclipper21, you are both a inning ahead. 4th inning just ended, but it is still 2-2.
We haven't produced when we had our chances so far today.
Yanks down 5-2 after 5.
The Yankees have failed to produce when it mattered far too many times again today and that is why they are trailing.
Yanks down 5-2 after 6.
Yankees trailing 6-2 after 6.
Yankees behind 6-2 after 7.
Thru 8 innings Yankee batters are 0 for 12 with RISP. When you fail to produce WHEN it matters you will lose.
Yanks down 8-2 after 8.
Final 8-2 loss.
What a miserable game.
How about 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position.
Am i missing something because i can't find and stats for any hitters with hitting with runners in scoring position. Does anyone know if it exists, and if not, why not.
The Yankee pitchers must start every game as if they can't give up a run or two. That is an awful lot of pressure to pitch under every time out.
Cal Fuerst, I've been looking and really can't find anything concrete. I found a couple of stat fraud sites that knocked hitting in scoring position however, which leads me to believe it may be a factual stat that they are deathly afraid of. Likely because it makes their convoluted garbage look bad.
Guys, don't lose sight that all RISP at bats not equal. Also all games are not equal.
Augie
You can easily find all stats for hitters when hitting with runners in scoring position. If you go to a player on espn.com for instance and click on the "splits" tab - you can find all the information there.
Green takes over Eovaldis starting spot. Eovaldi to the bullpen.
Steven Fischer, Thank you very much. Now I start doing some research.
Augie
I can do some for you:
As I'm sure we can all agree, the Yankees have struggled to score runs this year. This in part due to them having the second lowest batting average with RISP at .230. Further compounding the problem, is that they're 20th in chances with RISP. So basically - they don't get RISP very often, and when they do, they're not doing a good job driving them in. This in my mind, is a pretty logical, and stat supported, reason for why we've struggled to score runs.
Pitching is a little less bleak - we've been about middle of the pack in terms of runs allowed (and also ERA, though I know how "meaningless" it is to those here because it doesn't consider all runs).
In summary, we're not just struggling to hit "when it matters", but we're also struggling to create scoring situations as compared to other teams around the league. A middle of the pack pitching staff and a bottom 3rd offense are why we are where we are.
Tanaka goes tomorrow on extra rest.
Steven Fischer, pretty much what you posted is more or less common knowledge here. What I was hoping to find was exactly when failures occurred. My point being a hit in the 8th inning with risp when you are winning 8-0 is not equal to a hit in the 8th inning with risp when you are trailing 2-1. The statistics provided don't have enough detail and can be skewed.
That is why when it matters is paramount. It does not matter in one situation, but can mean the game in a different situation. In the end it all comes out in the wash in the win total.
We can debate stats until we are blue in the face. Everyone has their own ways of looking at stats and how they use stats. The convoluted man made stats tend to corrupt the game and for why the game is played. Baseball is played, or should be played with just one agenda. For the team to win with all players contributing in their own way to help the team win as much as possible and make the playoffs.
So we can debate, discuss, argue all we want, in the end only one thing determines the best. WINS!
Let me throw this out at y'all. If the scouts, and the numbers are so great how in the world do 8th, 10th, 12th round draft picks become major leaguers and some above average major leaguers. This is why there is a WIN METHOD.
Erica Nuyens, Nothing is perfect. You even have first round picks that fail miserably. That would lead me to believe that WIN METHOD is right and always has been since he developed all this from players starting 60 years ago. It is what is inside a player that determines how well he will do at the highest level. Every single player has baseball talent. There is speed, throwing, hitting, etc as the basics. Some players can do some things better than other players and vice versa. It is the whole ball of wax that determines how players are rated. The biggest thing is getting inside the head and soul of players. That is just not done at the level that is needed but for one, WIN METHOD. In the end players that can help a team win are the best.
Very deep and heady stuff guys. I am a simple man. Wins and only wins determine the best. Anyone who says the winning team is not the best is a fool.
We need to beat the white sox these next two games.
Another fact. No matter what any other stat ever is only wins will get a team into the playoffs.
Ultimately wins and losses are the end result of everything.
The stats tell the beginning and middle of the story and how they get to the wins (or losses). Looking at just wins doesn't give you the full story basically, which is what I am interested in.
It is all about wins.
Steven Fischer, Wins always gives you the full story. And in truth stats can give you a false and or misleading story.
Gardner only left handed bat in lineup tonight. Didi sits, Castro at ss, Refs at 2b.
Lets go Yankees.
Yanks up 2-0 after 2.
5-0 Yanks after 4.
Yankees hitting tonight, lead 6-0 after 5.
6-0 Yankees after 7. The real story is the Yankees have 16 hits and only 6 runs. 3 of the runs are from a solo HR and a 2 run HR. The should have at least 10 runs.
8-0 Yankees after 8. Tanaka a very strong game, but pitched with no pressure.
Yanks up 8-0 after 8.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
Final 9-0 win.
A true laugher. 9-0 win. 20 hits. Lets see what happens tomorrow.
Rubber game tonight. Pineda goes and a win will take this series and even our road trip at 3-3.
If we only do what we did last night consistently for the rest of the season will be fine.
Here are the Top 5 Yankees in Win Probability Added (WPA) according to http://www.fangraphs.com/livewins.as...=0&season=2016
Tanaka: .210
Rodriguez: .166
Beltran: .156
Castro: .052
Headley: .044
According to WPA, Rodriguez was the Yankees' most valuable hitter and Teixeira was the Yankees least valuable hitter. Rodriguez went 1-for-6 with no runs or RBI. Teixiera went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI.
CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN TO ME JUST HOW WPA HAS afraud WITH A HIGHER RATING THAN EVERY OTHER YANKEE BUT FOR TANAKA.
AGAIN PURE BS AND MORE PROOF OF THE UTTER MEANINGLESS CONVOLUTED STATS.
How can you be valuable when you contribute absolutely nothing to the nine runs scored. What fraudulent garbage. Probably someone trying to skew the fantasy game numbers.
Just more garbage from the stat frauds. But to this day no stat fraud can disprove wins and what wins mean and the outcome of wins and winning.
Stat frauds would want you to believe that 2+2=5 when they say so.
Lets see what Eovaldi can give us knowing he only needs to go an inning or two.
If Chad Green can do what he did last time out, that helps the rotation and Eovaldi makes the best bullpen in baseball even better.
Our season isn't over, and as Yogi said, "it ain't over until it's over".
Patricia, I think you pinned the tail on the donkey.
Getting back to afrauds phoney WPA from last night, he was the only Yankee starter that did not either score or drive in a run last night. What garbage he is.
Lets go Yankees, do it again.
Left handed lineup tonight. Castro only righty bat in lineup.
Throw another big one Pineda.
Yanks down 4-0 after 2.
Yanks down 4-0 after 4.
Miserable production with men on tonight. Down 4-0 thru 4.
Yankees trail 5-0 after 6.
Yesterday 20 hits and 9 runs. Today thru 8 innings 6 hits and 0 runs.
Final 5-0 loss. We had 8 hits and the Sox just 5. The Sox score 5 runs on 5 hits when it matters and we don't get a hit when it matters all game.
Another series lost.
If the team does not produce when they have the chances they will lose. The White Sox got four hits in one inning with one walk, all with two out and that was the game because the Yankees with all their opportunities did not even get one hit when it would have meant scoring runs.
Nova starts tonight in Cleveland.
A sweep of these four games would be enormous.
The way we have been playing it will likely turn out 2-2.
Lefty lineup tonight. afraud and Hicks on bench. Refsnyder in rf and Castro 2b the righties.
Will the real Yankee team please stand up.
Peter, 2 & 2 against the Indians isn't that bad. 3 & 1 would be fantastic.
0-0 after 2.
2-2 after 5.
5-4 Yankees after 6.
Betances with a shutout 7th. 5-4 Yanks.
Miller with a 1,2,3 8th. Yanks 5-4.
Yanks up 5-4 after 8.
Chapman struggles but earns the save.
final 5-4 win.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
Tough win, but a win.
Nova gets the win and the big three bullpen does their job.
Can we build on last nights win. We must build on it. Yes we can. Do not quit.
If we can win this series we can win any series.
Chad Green in tonights game. If he repeats his last time out we will be in good shape.
I am hoping the Yankees don't make any foolish trades this month. All to many fools out there want the team to give away quality proven pieces for other teams maybes, hopetobes, or guys they aren't playing. Somebody wants one of our big three relievers they must give us a starting everyday player of our choosing. They don't like it then let them lump it.
It has been said in this blog many times by many fans. Cut afraud, put a real player on the roster, move forward, cut the cancer, and we can win it all we what we have.
Each player needs to keep in mind that he does not have to be the hero, keep the line moving, take advantage of what the other team gives you, and make them pay dearly. In other words, WIN.
Candycane
I'm glad your not the one doing negotiations with other teams.
Lets go Yankees.
Steven...I disagree, I think candycane is dead on right. We don't need anything as bad as the contending teams who think they can win the WS this year. We have decent pieces in our organization. A few very easily could be much better than another teams piece. We can trade from a power position and if they don't give us what we want, as candycane said, they can lump it.
Same lefty lineup as last night. Castro 2b and Refsynder rf the right handed bats. Lets do what we did last night. Win.
Shouldn't it be logical that the team that trades from the power position should get the better of the deal. There is never in my opinion a reason to trade a gem for potential. Caveat, unless you truly feel you know something that the other team does not.
Gus
How can you say that this Yankee team, with 0 playoff wins in the last what, four years, doesn't NEED anything as badly as contenders. We have a ton of needs.
No team is going to trade a star caliber position player for a relief pitcher, to even suggests that shows me you are overvaluing relievers.
Steven, My point is we may very well be able to supply our own needs. We have three very possible starting position players very close. Sanchez, Judge, Bird. If you do not think a premier reliever is as valuable as a position player that is your prerogative. Tell that to KC who won a WS with vast help from the bullpen. If a team does't want to give a position player for a reliever, I would then love to see them lose in the playoffs or the WS because then didn't have the premier closer to save them. They then can answer to their fans for not doing the deal. It takes two to make a deal. I agree with candycane, I wouldn't give a premier reliever for anything less than a proven comodity. I hope the Yankees see it that way also. I rather hear the stat frauds whine and cry for us not dealing than us dealing stupidly.
Steven Fischer, I would trade Beltran, but I still would want a starting position player for him. I believe do Beltran has less trading value than any of our big three closers. But if another team really wants him, I wouldn't give him away for nothing. I would Beltran for less than what I would want for our closers.
KC won from vast help from everyone, it wasn't just the bullpen - the starters and offense had to work together to give them the leads in those games.
My basis on this is very a simple. A relief pitcher at most pitches 60-80 innings, a position player can effect every inning in every game on the field and with the bat. Why do you think starting pitchers and position players get paid so much more? It's because good ones are much harder to come by then relievers. If you recall - Betances and Miller were failed starters before becoming relievers.
To your point - what would be a realistic trade for Miller in your mind? I don't suggest we trade any of these guys for nothing, but I think a high potential prospect is much more realistic.
Jack - I would too trade Beltran, he's not in the future plans of this team, and I actually think he could hold some value to other teams.
Green fives up 3 first inning HRs. Yanks down 4-0.
Yanks down 4-0 after 2.
Green getting pounded. Yanks down 6-0 after 4.
Yanks down 9-0 after 6.
Steven, yes KC won the WS because of the contributions from all player. That is a tenet of the WIN METHOD.
Yes, a closer may only pitch a very minimal amount of innings, but the closer has a 100% direct affect on the outcome of every game he pitches in. That is vital. A premier closer is worth his weight in gold and a premier closer, in my view, is very much as important as an every day player.
Therefore I would not trade any of our three closers for anything less than a proven starting position player. As I said, if the contender does not give what I want, they can go to the playoffs with what they got.
If you are going to lose, I rather get trounced, and we are getting trounced.
After seven innings. Cleveland 10 Yankees 1.
Gus
What are some players specifically I'm asking - proven starting position player comes in many shapes and sizes.
I think every player has a direct affect on the outcome of the game - it's just position players have affect on many many more than the 40 or so game a closer saves.
160>40, it's math.
Plus there are a ton of good relievers available every offseason, they're much easier to find.
Final 10-2 loass.
Steven, a good reliever is not a premier reliever. If the contending teams were satisfied with they have, they wouldn't be looking. If they want the best, they pay top dollar or they don't get any one of the big three. Let them try to close with someone elses closer.
Steven Fischer, the starting position players only have the opportunity to affect every game they play in. The have various degrees of affect in each game. The closer for any team has a total instant win loss effect on each game he closes. We can debate the values of each, but a premier closer is worth his weight in gold.
All we can do is try again tomorrow.
Alright, well if they truly are that important, it really has shown on this team as we've struggled to play .500 baseball the entire season.
The whole point of trades is trading from a position of strength to fill a position of weakness.
We have 3 guys that can close, and I think a potential everyday position player outweighs having a really good 7th inning reliever.
Also gus, you've yet to answer my question about what specific players would be suitable to you.
CC today. Let it fly CC. We need the win.
Steven, we have three dominant closers, all cannot pitch the last inning, thus they pitch the 7th, 8th, and 9th.
Here is what I am willing to do. The Cubs get their choice of any of our three closers, they also get Beltran. I want one of these three Bryant, Contreras, or Rizzo.
I can't really discuss with some one who thinks Miller and Beltran for Bryant/Rizzo is a fair offer. You're so off base that I question whether you even understand baseball.
Contreras would be more realistic but we do already have Sanchez
Gus Papa.....I could live with your deal. Moving Beltran out would be fine. Lose the age and the contract. One of our closers could mean the whole enchilada for the Cubbies.
Steven, If they give Contreras, I do the deal. If not I walk away telling them they may have just cost themselves in the playoffs or more. then I move to the next team interested in one our closers.
We are facing Salazar today who has been the Tribe best pitcher. would be a feather in our cap to defeat him.
I rather keep BMC, develop our kids and move a spare part here and there. How about this as a possibility for 2017. Sanchez/McCain c. Bird/Teixera 1b. Castro 2b. Headley 3b. Gregorius ss. Gardner lf. Judge rf. Elsbury cf. Beltran dh. Refsynder utility.
Maybe try to move Hicks and Romine. There are also a couple of pretty good other options in WilkesBarre. Keep developing the young arms, Severino, Clarkin, Kaprielian, etc. A couple of other will be recovering for TJ surgery. Even Mateo could have an impact moving Headley out. And of course, the very first thing, chuck afraud.
Steven, There is also a caveat to any trade, WIN METHOD if he hasn't already, must be given the opportunity to pass/fail players.
Gus
At this point I think this team needs talent, there seems to be a lack of that on the roster.
The interview didn't seem fruitful with Castro and Hicks thus far.
Steven Fischer, If you are not aware, not every player on the Yankee team is a WIN METHOD selected player. WIN METHOD does not sign, trade, or deal any players. We all know without doubt, afraud was not a WIN METHOD selected player. And he has been a cancer.
Steven Fischer. What makes it so hard for you to understand that the Yankee organization may very well have the upgrade in talent you are clamoring for in house, with the several players that have been mentioned by other posters. Also what makes you think if that Hicks and Castro haven't worked out, another teams trade bail will.
There is so much none of us know about players that the organization does know. Anyone can say do this or do that, but that accomplishes nothing because only the organization will make those decisions. The organization may or may not have a well thought out plan, but none of us know. But all too many disparage the organization. More important, it is always the performance of each player that will determine if a plan, a trade, or a signing works out.
I have lived thru brilliant years and eras, putrid years and eras, and mediocre years and era. I live with the good and the bad. Some before WIN METHOD and some after. This team isn't as bad as some people think. We will survive and things will get better, if not this season, but in the next few.
Sid
What makes it hard for me, is the fact that the Yankees have been one of the worst teams over the last decade in developing players in-house.
I don't give them the benefit of the doubt because they don't deserve it at this point.
Sadly, many of the players the Yankees developed are playing for other teams. Far too many others have had injuries. There are ups and downs. No team wins and is successful all the time, but the Yankees still win and are successful the most. The worm will turn again, it always has.
How quickly forgotten......Brett Gardner, Joba Chamberalin, Ian Kennedy, Mark Melancon, David Robertson, Austin Romine, David Phelps, John Ryan Murphy, Adam Warren, Shane Greene, Bryan Mitchell, Chase Whitley, Greg Bird, Rob Refsynder,
Still in the pipeline.....Ben Gamel, Tyler Austin, Jack Cave, Branden Pinder, Nick Goddy, James Pazos, Eric Jagielo, Aaron Judge, Ian Clarkin, Tyler Webb, Jacob Lindgren, Jordan Montgomery, James Kaprelian,
Also we signed this years first ten selections.
Not included are the international signings. Top one Jorge Mateo.
Bud light,
That's not a very impressive group you just listed you do realize right?
Guys, I'd rather worry about winning todays game than what has happened over the past ten years, one of which we did win a WS.
Don't forget Melky and Cano.
First inning today the story of Yank season. Yanks get two first inning hits and do not score. The Indians get one hit, an infield grounder single and they lead 1-0.
WHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yanks down 1-0 after 2.
6-5 Yankees after 6.
6-6 after 7 as Betances gives up a run.
Miller shutout 8th. Still 6-6.
6-6 after 8.
Miller stays in for the 9th as Yankees fail to score.
Chapman comes in to get last out in 9th. Extra innings at 6-6.
6-6 after 9.
Win or lose this has been one heck of a game.
On to the 11th as Chapman has 1,2,3, in 10th.
Chapman stays in for 11th as Yanks take 7-6 lead.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
A big HUUUUUUGGGGGGE win. 7-6.
Another step closer to the playoffs.
We need to win tomorrow. Yes we can.
5 1/3 innings from the BMC today for the win. Tomorrow it is Tanaka as far as he can go and then Shreve/Eovaldi/etc?
The Indians likely may be in the market for a closer. If we get what we want they can get their closer.
After yesterdays great game, we have the chance to win this series and go into the all star game break on a high.
Tanaka today. We likely have none of the big three bullpen available. Maybe Betances at best. A win today would be enormous. Beating the team in the AL with the best record, even splitting the four games with them shows we are competitive and a force to be heard from after the break.
I can think of nothing better than making the playoffs this season. How sweet that would be.
New regarding Aaron Judge....
Heralded Yankees prospect Aaron Judge has been placed on the Minor League disabled list due to a mild PCL sprain and a bone bruise on his left knee, the team announced Saturday.
Judge exited Friday night's game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the sixth inning after he dove for a ball in the outfield and later ran to first base on a groundout. The outfielder reported feeling a pop in his knee before exiting. Judge immediately saw a team doctor Friday night and was re-evaluated Saturday, when an MRI revealed the injury to his left knee.
Judge was hitting .261 with 16 home runs and 54 RBIs in 83 games of International League action, and was named the league's Player of the Month for June after hitting .343 and leading the league with nine home runs in 28 games. He was scheduled to participate in the IL Home Run Derby on Monday night.
The timetable for Judge's return is unknown at this point, according to the Yankees. The club stated that Judge will "not participate in baseball activities for an undetermined amount of time."
There is no way of definitively knowing but I wonder just how many Yankee draft picks have had their careers ended, significantly reduced, and hampered to some degree over the past decade.
Lefty lineup. 3 right handed bats. Castro, Refsnyder, Romine.
If we trade a piece, don't do it just to do it. Get an immediate impact player for now, not a future maybe. There are several teams that are viable trade partners, but not for what they want to dump, but it must be for what we want. Otherwise, let them rot with what they got.
Watching todays game and what a pleasure it is not having afraud batting in the first inning killing rally after rally. Love Didi batting fifth.
Tanaka struggling thru 2 but Yanks lead 4-1.
Yanks up 4-1 after 2.
Some bullpen arms are going to have to step up today because Tanaka is struggling mightily. Tribe has left five men on in just three innings.
5-1 Yanks after 4.
Tanaka with his best and easiest inning. 3 up 3 down. 5-1 Yanks.
An afraudless lineup is beautiful and keeps rallies going a little longer.
Everyone is hitting today.
Just what we needed.
Tanaka can't even muddle through five innings to earn a win. Given an 11-1 lead in the 5th, Tanaka allows 6 runs and leaves leading 11-7. The laugher is no longer a laugher and isn't won yet.
Eovaldi in with a chance for a win. Gets last out in 5th. Yanks led 11-7.
Eovaldi with a 1,2,3 6th. Yanks up 11-7.
