In the next few days Derek Jeter, the greatest major league baseball player over the past twenty years will reach 3000 hits. Jeter will be the twenty-eighth player in the history of baseball to achieve this feat. Jeter will be the first YANKEE to reach the 3000 hit plateau. Jeter will be the only shortstop who played his entire career at the shortstop position to achieve this individual milestone. When you consider the names of the great YANKEES of the past, and the miniscule amount of players on all teams who have reached 3000 hits, Jeter reaching 3000 hits is a major accomplishment. Jeter is the consummate professional, no ego, plays for the team to WIN not individual statistics. One of the greatest defensive shortstops in the history of baseball. Second to none on popups, turning the double play, coming in on slow rollers, and vast range in all directions. Jeter is the poster boy for MLB. Never an iota of bad publicity, no steroids, charming, and charismatic. No player in the past twenty years has led his team to as many playoffs, pennants and World Series titles. Those are the true measure of greatness and great players, NEVER meaningless individual stats. WINS and WINNING determine the greatest of the great players of the game. Jeter will be the first to tell anyone who really knows baseball, and is intelligent enough to listen, just that. Jeter plays for the team to win and no player over the past twenty years had done that more or better. It appears steroids are catching up to Alex Rodriquez. His body seems to breaking down with more and more nagging injuries of every kind. Sad to say, the YANKEES may have made Rodriquez the most overpaid player in the history of baseball.
The second half of the season should be fun in the American League East with three of the best teams in baseball in the same division fighting for the pennant. The return of Jeter, Colon, and Hughes could be the edge the YANKEES need to win it all. Then there is always the possibility making a deal to fill any perceived needs.
WIN METHOD special draft selection Adam Warren started the season at AAA Scranton moving very quickly through the minor league system. Warren is 6-3 so far this season while showing some flashes of brilliance at time. Warren will reach the major league level soon one way or another.
To reiterate to all fans of the WIN METHOD and anyone else who reads this blog. WINS and WINNING determines the greatest players in the game. Individual personal stats do not make a player great, only WINS and WINNING can make a player one of the greatest of all time. The stat geeks when asked why their individual stat player doesn't help his team win, will always respond..it's his team mates fault, if he played somewhere else he would win. In this day and age of baseball any player can go anywhere he wants, IF a team would have him.

For me todays game was a real downer.
CC sure hasn't come up big against the bosux. Our 3 or 4 runs should have carried the day for us.
The challenge for CC is evident. Being a WIN METHOD player look for CC to respond big time next time he goes against the sux.
You would thin the bosux have the advantage tonight, but many thought the Yankees had the advantage yesterday. So much for meaningless individual stats. The game will be played and decided on the field.
Turn around is fair play. We need to beat the sux and Becket tonight.
Let the bosux win the regular season games, as long as we win the playoffs.

This series just doesn't seem that important knowing unless there is a total breakdown both these teams are going to the playoffs.

Rivera blows the save. 2-2 and into extra innings.

Hughes comes in for the 10th and loses it giving up two hard hits.
A good guy, but don't just blame Hughes. Mo cost the game.
Tough one to lose. Rather lose now than in the playoffs.
Day off today. We just came off a 5-2 road trip. I'll take that over every 7 game stretch for the year. The best is still in front of us.
We now have three games with the Angels, and if we let down they will hurt us.

Still clinging to a 1-0 lead after five. AJ is solid, but the Yanks aren't scoring either.
After 5 shutout innings, AJ does it again, shoots himself in the foot, actually both feet and gives up four runs in the 6th. All on him.
Burnett has his rotten inning to give away the game. The team comes back to tie it and take AJ off the hook. Wade and Robertson are great in the 7th and 8th, Then Mariano blows and loses his second straight game. from what I can remember that is the only time in his career Rivera lost two straight games.
This has to be a nightmare year for AJ. He can't do anything right.
Can't look back and take away the loss. Must move forward and start a run of wins to reach the playoffs.

Granderson puts Yankees in front with first inning 3 run HR. Yanks up 3-0 after 2.
9-3 Yanks after 7. Nova goes 6+ innings weakening in the 7th. Soriano comes in the 7th with bases loaded and none out and gets DO and pop fly out allowing only the one run to score on the DP. The series is even and the rubber game tomorrow afternoon.
9-3 final. Ayala pitches scoreless 8 and 9 innings. Bullpen well rested for tomorrow. Solid win tonight.
Colon this afternoon in the rubber game and for a series win. The Angels must have this game to try to stay a distant close in the wild card race.

Jeter leading his team with 3 hits and a walk while scoring 2 runs helps bring the Yanks from 2-0 down to a 6-2 lead after seven.
Final 6-5 Yanks. Rivera gives up 3 run home run in night to make it close. Soriano gets win with scoreless 7th and Robertson a hold with a scoreless 8th.
Teena gets us another win.
BC threw six solid innings with one real bad pitch allowing a 2run homer. We win the series and take a giant step closer to the playoffs by defeating the closest wild card challenger.
Good series win at home against a quality team. Now the Rays come in for three. CC and Price again for third straight time tomorrow night.
Hopefully Rivera will straighten himself out very soon. Three bad outings in a row. At least today it didn't cost a win.

Things might be very interesting if Hughes pitches like he did in his last six scoreless inning start.
Hughes goes scoreless five, then allows 2 runs in the sixth. Very solid effort. Yanks up 9-2 with Posada showing the way. Series even.
Second excellent start in a row for Hughes. If it was up to me and looking at the schedule for the next three weeks, I would positively go with a six man rotation. That would allow for some extra arm rest for the guys. then I would pare down to five and base my decision on how each performed during that span.
Good solid win today. Garcia scratched from start tomorrow and will be out for several days with a cut finger. AJ will start tomorrow against big game James Shields in the rubber matchup.
AJ getting the start today vs. Shields is typical of how his year is going. Garcia cuts a finger, misses his start, AJ is next in line and faces a top line pitcher with eight complete games and four shutouts.

Tom, I'll go a step further. Afraud is a cancer to baseball teams. It has been clearly and unequivocally documented how Afraud has hurt each team he has played for and when he left each team they got immediately better. His life has been one of corruption, cheating, and despair. He cheated his wife, he cheated baseball, ruined his family, and he has no character. All he has is money.
Tom, johnsondc, I have seen the numbers of games won and lost by teams Arod has played for for the pas decade and a half. And yes, each team he has left won more games after he left and each team he went to lost more games each year when he got there.
We will just have to keep playing around him and hope for the best.

Jeter leads with his third hit of the game and Martin with a grand slam for a 10-7 Yankee lead after six. Nine unawnsered runs by the Yankees.
Yanks batting in the 8th leading 16-8. Everybody hit and a very needed win was earned. Onto Baltimore for a very wet weekend. Lets see how many of the five games get played.
Cano, Martin, Granderson each hit a grand slam home run today. What is remarkable is that this is the first time in baseball history, yes baseball history, that three players on the same team have hit three grand slams in a single game. Just think how many games have been played in baseball history. There is a first for every thing.

The 3 grand slams by the Yankees today is making the national news. First time in the history of baseball. That's a heck of a lot of games.
On to Baltimore for five games. There is no way all five games will be played, but tonight game should be able to. AJ really needs to get his act together, particularly after Hughes' poor showing yesterday. Win tonight and keep hitting.
The best part of yesterdays game was Arod got a couple of hits and walks and did not hurt the team.
Now if we can play tonights game before the hurricane and win then will be rained out of the double header Saturday.
