WIN METHOD 2016 SEASON -- Only wins and winning determine the best.

The 2016 Major League Baseball season starts today.  The New York YANKEES first game will be tomorrow in New York against the Houston Astros.    The starting rotation has been decided, the twenty-five man roster has been decided, and tomorrow the drive for the playoffs will begin.  This is not fantasy baseball, played by stat fraud fools who live by meaningless individual statistics, this is real baseball where winning is determined by what all players on each team contribute to help their team win the most often.   These contributions are measured by wins and players producing at the right time, when it matters, and not by how much or how many stats they produce for themselves as their team fails.

The injury bug has bitten the YANKEES, as it has bitten every team in one way or another.  First baseman Greg Bird is likely out for the season.  Pitcher Brian Mitchell may be out approximately three months, and pitcher Andrew Miller with a broken bone in his non throwing wrist may have been the luckiest, and will lose no playing time.

Several YANKEE WIN METHOD youngsters are blooming and growing and are on the roster to start the season, and several more are on the near horizon and will start their season in the minors.
Several years ago the WIN METHOD made a concerted effort to find pitching talent each season and the YANKEES drafted many of these youngsters.   The time is here for some of these youngsters and the time for others is just around the corner.

The YANKEE management led by the brilliant dealing of General Manager Brian Cashman have added several new players to this seasons roster and have deepened the bench for 2016.   Also, three very possible future stars are so near.  Catcher Gary Sanchez, right fielder Aaron Judge, and shortstop Jorge Mateo are getting closer to the major league roster every day.  Playing regularly in the minors right now is best for them and their development.  But they will soon be heard from.

Remember fans, it is a long season, there will be ups and downs, and as always only wins and winning will be the determining factor on which teams earn playoffs spots and go on to the second season.    Let the stat fraud fools play their fantasy games.   We will play for real baseball and root for our team to win and root for the contributions of each player to help our team win.

LETS GO YANKEES

Yanks get 1 in 7th, trail 3-2 after 7 with 11 men LOB.

Eight innings complete. Down 3-2, one more chance.

Stan the Man said...

Yanks lose again. 3-2 final and leave 14 men on base for the game.

will-i-am said...

Wow, another can't produce when it counts loss.

bigbadwolf said...

OK fans, and for so many newer WIN METHOD fans. The oldest and one of the best WIN METHOD tenets that puts the game of baseball in perspective. When you are playing your best, you are not that good, and when you are playing your worst, you are not that bad. The worm will turn.

Deb F said...

The word is afraud want to leave MLB by making a name for himself. Everyone has heard of the Mendoza line in baseball which is used to describe a batter who is having trouble batting .200. afraud is trying to create the afraud line which is going to be used for a batter struggling to bat .100.

Wilsonsway said...

That is great Deb. The afraud line. He has already made a name for himself as one of baseballs all time liar and cheat.

sid greenberg,nyc said...

Tanaka today to try to break the losing skid. The pitching hasn't been the problem.
The problem has been the inability for the hitters to deliver the big hits when the would matter the most. Just one or two hits at the right time in the past few games could have meant wins instead of losses.
wolfie citing the WIN METHOD tenet puts things in perspective and the worm will turn.

YankeeMike said...

I have two requests. 1. Let the worm turn. 2. Out right release afraud.

Victor Grandozi said...

Lets go guys, turn it around on a dime.

Izy Hernandez said...

afruad still in lineup, that means the black hole is still there, but down in the six hole now.

Mike said...

Well Arod just had a pretty big hit...credit where credit is due

bigbadwolf said...

afraud must read this blog. After being called out repeatedly here, and rightly so, he hits 2 run HR to give Yanks 2-1 lead after 2.

jimbo said...

3-1 Yankees after 3.

Steve said...

4-3 Yankees after 5.

Gene A said...

It looks like afrauds HR was just a fluke in 1st AB. In next 2 ABs he Ks and pops up leaving 4 men on base.

candycane said...

4-3 Yanks after 5.

will-i-am said...

Yanks 4-3 thru 7. Betances in for 8th.

Carl Hooks said...

Betances 3 up 3 down, all Ks.

Jack Gordon said...

afraud strikes out again in 4th at bat.

Jack Gordon said...

Miller for the 9th and he also K's all three batters for the save.

will-i-am said...

Theeeeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnn.

candycane said...

Final, a 4-3 win.

Linda Pardo said...

In the last two games Betances and Miller have faced 12 Mariner batters and struck every one of the out. Spectacular.

Audrey Barnes said...

Off day tomorrow and them just maybe we can start a roll.

Zack Norris said...

Think how pathetic a hitter yo must be that you can go 1 for 7 and raise your BA. afraud makes Stephen Drew look like an all star.

Mike said...

You guys are acting like goons, it's been 9 games - ya know Jeter once batted .161 with 0 home runs and only 4 rbis through the first 19 games of the season.

Bud Light said...

Off day tomorrow.

Sharon/NC said...

Off today..Tue, Wed, Thurs, nights at home with the Oakland A's. Pineda, Eovaldi, and Louie Louie for the Yankees. Then Fri, night, Sat, and Sun, afternoons with the Tampa Bay Rays. CC, Tanaka, Pineda for the Yankees. that will finish this homestand.

Alex Antonious said...

Mike, we may be goons, but we are not stupid. The difference between Jeter and afraud is that afraud lied and cheated baseball as a game, lied and cheated MLB, lied and cheated his team, lied and cheated the fans, and most important, lied and cheated his family.
Jeter did none of that, none.

Linda Pardo said...

Alex, also, Jeter could play the field and run the bases. There are several ways to help your team.

Mike said...

Was talking about strictly on-field performance, nine games doesn't mean much of anything.

Norm Jackson said...

A good time to string some wins together.

jimbo said...

We have two home series this week. Win them both and we move forward. Lets go Yankees.

Vladmir Tinzik said...

Agree, lets get the the wins rolling. We are better than we have been playing.

Felix Lopez said...

Pineda starts off the A's series tonight.

Yankeedoodledandy said...

We have been getting decent pitching, even from the starters, the hitting when it counts has been the drawback so far this season.

Wayne Littlebear said...

It would be nice for Pineda to set the tone of this series with a dominating start tonight.

Glen Corbett said...

Different lineup tonight. Lets see what happens.

Boston Yankee fan said...

Glen, I checked out the lineup. It is intriguing. Ellsbury out. Hicks in. Castro up to 2nd. afraud 5th.

sid greenberg,nyc said...

Guys, it doesn't matter who bats where. All that matters is producing when it matters.

Gloria LeClair said...

One hit that matters and helps win a game is worth...you fill in the blank____________.

Chad Copely said...

Ok team, do it.

Steve said...

1-1 after 3.

Stan the Man said...

2-1 Yanks after 5.

Stan the Man said...

2-2 thru 7.

Cory said...

2-2 after 9. We need to hit when it matters.

Steve said...

Yanks lose 3-2 in 11.

will-i-am said...

the lineup stinks up the place once again. 2 runs in 11 innings. Just enough to lose.

Patricia Piper said...

All we can do is try again today. The worm needs to turn in our favor.

Warren Hammond said...

Eovaldi tonight, but it won't make a difference until the Yankee hitters start to produce at the right times. The pitching has not been the Yankee issue, it has been the hitters failing time and again when the opportunities present themselves. Mixing up the lineup does not make any difference. I have little doubt that a player like Alex Rodriguez at this time has a devastating effect on the production of the lineup.

RLA said...

My kingdom for a winning streak!

Diane Stahl said...

Warren, you are right. If the team and its ownership are willing to accept cheating and lying, they have to sleep in the bed they made.

Quay Ho said...

The hits and runs will come. Just have to go with the flow right now and stay close.

Robert Mandel said...

No lineup posted for tonights game yet.

Wilsonsway said...

Cast same as like night except Ellsbury in and Gardner out. afraud bats 6th and Hicks bats 9th. Castro in the 2 hole again.

Greg Stone said...

HITS and RUNS

Bud Light said...

Game time, first pitch, single up the middle.

Gus Papa said...

0-0 after 1 as afraud stands there looking at the third strike to end the inning leaving the bases loaded. There is a black hole in the lineup at whatever spot afraud is inserted.

Sal Mineo said...

Didi solo HR. Yanks up 1-0 after 2.

Stan the Man said...

Yanks down 3-1 after 4.

Stan the Man said...

Yanks down 3-1 after 6 and bats look terrible.

Sal Mineo said...

Yankees down 3-1 after 7 failing to score in the 7th with men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.

Stan the Man said...

Solo HR by Beltran in 8th, but Yanks down 5-2 after 8.

Sal Mineo said...

Game over, another loss, 5-2 down.

Teena/Bronx said...

This hasn't been pretty.

Victor Grandozi said...

Louie Louie Severino starts tonight to try to stop the bleeding. The way the Yankees have been hitting, if Louie Louie gives up a run or two he may have no chance at winning.

Izy Hernandez said...

afraud is no no no no no no no no no bueno.

Lou Lis said...

Get afraud off the team already. He is a cancer.

White Knight said...

This is the way the team was hitting last September.

johnsondc said...

George Steinbrenner must be turning over in his grave. What do you think he would be saying if he were alive for this debacle.

will-i-am said...

Gardner, McCann, and Didi not in lineup, but afraud is. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Linda Rice said...

Eight right handed bats tonight. Really overdue to produce when it counts. Hopefully the dams will open.

Peter Raines said...

I could see George Steinbrenner kicking afraud off the team, as things now stand.

Brian Cowley said...

Hicks rbi single for 1-0 lead after 2.

Tommy Lee said...

candycane said...

Final, another loss. 7-3.

will-i-am said...

Game over 7-3 loss. Swept.

Mike said...

The Yankees worst season in the past 10 years was the year Arod was suspended, if you think this issue is about him you're kidding yourself.

This is a team issue. Not an Arod issue.

bigbadwolf said...

We can't start to rise until we hit bottom. Where the bottom is will be the issue at hand right now.

Benny Pake said...

I can't even say any of our starters will be the stopper. At least not until the lineup scores some runs and gives them a chance to win.

Gloria LeClair said...

Losing streaks stink.

Cory said...

We have to start hitting, scoring, and producing at some point. That is what determines averages. And averages are meaningless compared to producing when it counts.

Yanks23245 said...

Hicks in CF for Ellsbury. Other positions the usual. We need production.

Saul Irving said...

OK, I will predict a win tonight.

Guy Padikian said...

2-2 after 2.

Could Ellsburys steal be the spark that changes the momentum?

Sal Mineo said...

McCann rbi single for 4-3 lead after 6.

2 run double by Ellsbury in 8th puts Yankees up 6-3. Hits when they count.

Ellsbury and McCann step up, Yanks play around afraud 0-4 again.

RLA said...

We needed tonight.

Patricia Piper said...

It may be ingsignificant for the stat frauds, but Ellsbury could very well have changed the tone of the Yankee season. Lets move forward.

Stanley Chin said...

Let the sun shine in. Tanaka this afternoon. Build on last night.

Dane Ostroff said...

Lets go Yankees. We will win it all.

Vladimir Tinzik said...

Betances and Miller are amazing. Betances struck out all three men he faced and Miller struck out two of his three. Their strike out rat is phenomenal and Chapman will have much to do to show he is at least their equal.

Deb F said...

Maybe, just maybe, could we have hit the bottom of the barrel. Is the worm turning. Lets go WIN METHOD.

Fred Slube said...

Nice effort last night led by Ells and McCann.

bigbadwolf said...

The Yankees are facing a pitcher they have never seen before, and in the past the Yankees tend to do poorly against someone they have never faced.

Norm Jackson said...

Mike, you cherry picked one season. FACT: afraud since coming to the Yankees, the team has won one World Series. In the immediate similar time period before afraud became a Yankee the team won four World Series. When you look at the big picture you get the truth.

Paul Hirschman said...

How can anyone defend any player who cheated the game all through his career, then lied repeatedly about doing it, until he was nailed and banned.

Al Ashton said...

Yankees take 1-0 lead after 1 as afraud makes the final out leaving runner in scoring position.

1-0 Yanks after 3.

Yanks trail 2-1 after 5.

muchomachoman said...

Get the bats going guys. Just a couple of runs.

Gus Papa said...

Yanks scratch a run on Gardner rbi single for 2-2 tie after 7.

candycane said...

Gardy walk off 2 out HR in 9th for 3-2 win.

will-i-am said...

Theeeeeeeeeee Yankeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees Winnnnnnnnnnnnnn. AGAIN!

Dan Evans said...

Betances and Miller with shutout 8th and 9th innings and Tanaka 7 innings just 2 runs and a couple of hits by Gardner to tie and win the game does it for the win.

muchomachoman said...

Just enough to count. 3-2 win.

Mike Smith said...

The bad, the stain, the black hole. afraud 0 fer 4 again. A team can't keep playing around this zero.

Sharon/NC said...

A tough win, but a win none the less.

muchomachoman said...

A thought. In May, chuck afraud off the team. Beltran becomes DH. Judge promoted to RF and takes afrauds place on roster. Sanchez promoted and Romine goes to AAA. The team becomes better immediately and the black hole in the lineup is gone.

Domenic said...

muchomachoman, The sad part is I think they don't have the intestinal fortitude to release the fraud.

Victor Grandozi said...

Ellsbury and McCann the heroes Friday and Gardner today. Tomorrow another name?

Quay Ho said...

Pineda tomorrow for the sweep.

Yankeeforever said...

Hard fought win yesterday. The combo of Betances and Miller are unquestionably the best closing duo in all of baseball.

will-i-am said...

Lets sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

White Knight said...

It's a long season, someone has to lose early and someone has to win early, but it only matters where you are after 162 games.

Artie S said...

Regular lineup again today. The black hole is still there.

Phil Jenkins said...

Yankees have their work cut out for them as Pineda gives up five runs in first inning.

Yankees down 7-1 after 5.

Yanks down 7-1 after 7.

Stan the Man said...

Game over, 8-1 loss.

Billy Tedder said...

Wire to wire loss. Never in it. 8-1 downer. And yes, the lone rbi when it mattered least was from afraud the fraud.

Deb F said...

3-6 home stand. Now on to a nine game road trip.

Tommy Lee said...

Billy, I was think of that when the Rays scored 5 runs in the 1st. This is the type of game afraud does something, or up 8-0. I should have.

FrustratedFan said...

This honestand showcased the Yankees weakness of both offense and starting pitching.

Everyone has been relatively healthy and still we've struggled mightily. This team doesn't look like a playoff team- and it's not just Arod, it's a number of "winmethod" players.

What has winmethod done to this once proud franchise.

Walt Bellamy said...

Turn around immediately with a 6-3 road trip.

Patricia Piper said...

Frustrated Fan, It appears you think playing 10% of the seasons games defines a team. We might just as well go home now. Losers like you whine, quit and go home. We play out the season, ride the highs and lows, play the cards we are dealt, and go on to the playoffs. "struggled mightily" indeed, we have 10 losses, as has Tampa and Toronto. Boston has 9 losses and the worst team in the division has 6. If you think these few games determines the future, Baltimore wins the division. You are smoking something.

Victor Grandozi said...

Patricia, well said.

Frustrated, What WIN METHOD has done for this always great franchise is, since its inception, the WIN METHOD has guided this team to more playoffs, pennants, and World Series championships than any other team in baseball.

FrustratedFan said...

Patricia
We haven't won a playoff game in any of the last 3 seasons. We missed them entirely in two of them. I'm frustrated that this team hasn't played up to the fans or owners expectations in years now.

No one said that the season was over, not sure why you insinuated that, but this play is not acceptable to me - nor is not winning a playoff game for 3 years. This team hasn't gotten worse over the years, not sure how you can debate that.

Quay Ho said...

We start nine game road trip tonight. 3 in Texas, 3 in Boston, and 3 in Baltimore.

FrustratedFan said...

Has gotten**

Sorry for the typo

Teena/Bronx said...

FF, You stated "This team doesn't look like a playoff team." If you believe that, then you believe the season is over. Or is it that your words don't matter. Many teams haven't won a playoff game in the past three seasons, and many haven't even been to the playoffs. Frustration breathes losing and that looks like you. We will overcome despite the negativity of far to many fans, but happily, very few on this blog.

Tony Manchu said...

Eovaldi starts tonights game. Lets get off on the right foot.

bigbadwolf said...

Sadly, we know what you meant Frustrated Fan, no need to apologize. Typos, grammar, spelling are no issues here. Wins and winning is the goal. One win at a time.

Rahm Mahood said...

Sometimes things have a way of turning around with a change of scenery. Like a road trip.

FrustratedFan said...

Teena
That's a kind of silly conclusion. At 7-10 and last place, they have not been playing like a playoff team and as such, they do not look like a playoff team right now. They need to play a lot better than they have been thus far.

Why are you making it more complicated than that and putting words into my mouth?

reinvaldez said...

Eovaldi like to pitch in Texas.

Teena/Bronx said...

FF, Your words again "At 7-10 and last place, they have not been playing like a playoff team and as such, they do not look like a playoff team right now." The same can be said for Tampa, Toronto, and Boston. How a team performs over 10-20-30-49 games during the 162 game season does not tell if they will make the playoffs or not. The 162 game season will decide that. I think they are very well a playoff team that has started the season off poorly. That is not complicated by any stretch of the imagination.

FF said...

Teena
So what of my words exactly do you disagree with, you think we've been playing like a playoff team?

Teena/Bronx said...

FF, I'm saying I think we are a playoff team and will be a playoff team, despite the outcome of just a handful of games. Again, not complicated by any stretch of the imagination.

FF said...

Teena
No I agree it's not. I also never said we weren't a playoff team. I said we haven't been playing like one to this point.

William Mensom said...

WIN METHOD fans, the discussion you have been reading between Teena/Bronx and Frustrated Fan illustrates rather potently the difference between a positive outlook compared to a negative outlook.

Tom Loughlin said...

FF, I don't think any sub .500 team ever made the playoffs in MLB. What would you say in September about a team in first place, but just finished the month of August winning 10 and losing 20 games? Would you say they are not a playoff team and not playing like one although they are leading their division.

There is always only one thing to remember, that at the end of the season only one thing matters, and only one thing determines what teams go to the playoffs, and only one thing determines who the best players are. WINS. W-I-N-S.

Victor Bruno said...

afraud and McCann not in lineup. Ackley and Romine in.

FF said...

Tom
I would argue they are not playing playoff caliber baseball at that time. The difference between that example and this team is that this team has yet to show a stretch of consistent winning yet.

The example you made is similar to how the Yankees struggled down the stretch last year- playing sub .500 baseball in the second half, lost their hold on first place, and ultimately lost their lone playoff game. We did not play playoff caliber baseball in that 2nd half like we did in the first and it showed once we actually played the wildcard game.

Tom Loughlin said...

FF, it is not whether you play playoff baseball at any point in time, or stretch of time, it is whether you play playoff baseball over the 162 game season. That is all that matters.

FF said...

These guys arent robots Tom. Playing good baseball going into the playoffs boosts a teams confidence and gives them a greater chance of a deep playoff run or championship.

I'm just giving my evaluation of the team so far, and based on what I've seen we have a lot of issues. That can change in baseball quickly for sure, but I can only base my opinion on what the team is showing me.

Stan the Man said...

0-0 after 2. Didi and Romine both leave bags full in 2nd. WHEN.

Gus Papa said...

FF, People can look at the same thing and see different things. The difference is anyone can look at a 5-10 team and say they aren't playing good. The knowledgeable people can look at the same 5-10 team and say they aren't going well right now, but they are going to be one of the better teams by the time the season closes.

AAA said...

Yanks up 2-0 after 3.

FF said...

Gus,

WINMETHOD predictions from '13 and '14

2013 - We have so much talent on the horizon the YANKEES will continue their run of superiority and dominance unrivaled during the past two decades.

2014 - 2014 season outlook. Even at this time, without the rosters being finalized and spring training not yet open, the YANKEES look like a solid sure thing playoff team.

Point is neither you or I knows how the season will play out - so don't toot your horn about how much more knowledgeable.

We'll see how it goes and I hope they turn it around soon.

Sal Mineo said...

2-0 Yankees after 5.

Gus Papa said...

FF, there is nothing to turn around, the wins will come when the hits come when it matters. Finished 1zt in 2011, finished 1st in 2012, finished 3rd in 2013, finished 2nd in 2014, and finished in 2015. Always a winning record and always competitive. Being more knowledgeable I have no doubt it will be the same in 2016.

Sal Mineo said...

3-0 Yankees after 7.

Glen Corbett said...

What do you guys think about the fact the Yankees spend the second most on statistical research and development?

Linda Pardo said...

Louie Louies turn tonight. Just do what Eovaldi did and you will get what he got. A win.

White Knight said...

Kat, statistical research and development is meaningless claptrap. Reason: Statistitcal research and development has led to too many teams playing dreadful losing baseball. Seven teams lost over 90 games last season. Another seven did not play .500 baseball last season. Throw in the fact that the three teams with the best records in baseball last season did not get to the WS.

What any team spends is their prerogative. What it gets them is nothing. You pay for garbage you get garbage.

Nick Polito said...

Kat....Man made convoluted stats and formulas are useless and created for fools to drool over. Wins and only wins created by players on teams working together to produce at the right time to earn wins for their team. WIN METHOD buries false stats.

White Knight..Great post.

Kat..1. I don't think anyone has any idea what the Yankees or any other baseball team expenses for anything involving baseball operation. Particularly with any degree of accuracy.
2. Why don't you or the website you posted ask the 14 sub .500 teams just how statistical research and development are working out for them.

Kat said...

Maybe most of the sub .500 teams don't have as advanced R&D divisions...?
