Mr. S. --- The BOSS

World champion New York YANKEE owner George Steinbrenner passed away today at his home in Tampa, Florida. The greatest owner the game of baseball has ever known or will ever know leaves a legacy of winning and World Championships over his ownership era, second to no one. Mr.S. who had the wisdom to see the WIN METHOD as the greatest tool ever created in baseball for evaluating and finding some of the greatest talents to ever play the game and the wisdom to fund and use this tool to make the YANKEES of the past decade and a half the greatest sports team in the world. Mr.S. took a 10 million dollar investment, and built the greatest and richest sports franchise in the world. His continuous and never ending reinvesting of his profits to continually build and get better is an ear mark of the free enterprise system that has made America the greatest power in the world. I wish to offer the Stienbrenner family my warmest condolences, with all YANKEE fans a tear of sadness, all WIN METHOD fans a cheer for having the wisdom of being the smartest fans in the world. I have lost a friend and partner and am very sad, but as Captain Derek Jeter stated today, 'we must rejoice in what "the boss" has done for us and baseball and celebrate his life.' Hail the Boss, the Boss is dead. Rest In Peace Mr.S. We will have another beer together in heaven.

A gigantic win last night coming from 5 runs down, knocking out Lee, Jeter and Thames knocking in the tying and winning runs in the 9th and Mo saving the game after allowing a triple then getting the next 3 without the tying run scoring.

bigbadwolf said...

What a sweet win yesterday. But that is why we are the World Champions.

Bert Jackson said...

Four in KC with CC opening. At least 3 of 4 is expected.

Roy Addison said...

Lets get greedy and bring out the broom. We still haven't had a prolonged win streak, say like 10 games.

Frankie Sergi said...

CC pushed the envelope and it almost cost us. But the WIN is in the bank. Go for three straight tomorrow.

Sam G said...

CC was tough, but I agree went one inning to far. Save that arm for the playoffs. Moseley tonight, see if he can bring it again.

Nick Polito said...

Moseley looks like he may be done with all the injuries over his career. If he keeps throwing the way he did against the bosux he will do very well and may even push Javy off the team.

will-i-am said...

We get a good win streak started now we can open up some daylight before the final stretch run.

Giambino said...

There has been very little wrong with the pitching that our lineup with all the bats they have shouldn't overcome almost every game. Need to run that 10 game win streak right now. damn it!

William Mensom said...

We are just keeping Tampa and Boston alive by losing games we should be winning easily.

sid greenberg/nyc said...

Weird as it may seem we have a better W/L record at this date this year than last.

Andy K said...

Well lets just the next two and come home with a 4-2 road trip and go from there. Hughes tonight.

johnsondc said...

Yes, we are allowing the other teams to stay close when we should be burying them. but they are good teams. Remember 28 in 10.

Eddie OConnor said...

Nice win, at least got some rum support as the Captain Jeter gets the tying run home to even the game.

Ted Long said...

The streak is one, AJ lets build it o the highest level of the year.

Yankeeforever said...

Dominate AJ. Clear your head and throw the ball over the plate.

Bill Behan said...

Same old same old. We face a pitcher for the first time and he shuts us out on 2 hits. Pathetic.

Norm P said...

AJ has a great game and still loses. What a downer day.

johnsondc said...

We are home now. Hope we get the train rolling. Lets all help. choo choo.

James Curcio said...

Yes, lets start rolling like only we can roll. WINS, WINS, WINS. Choo choo.

Bert Jackson said...

Yeah, lets get the train rolling again. 28 in 10 choo choo.

Sharon/NC said...

Take no prisoners. Bury the wanabees. 28 in 10. Choo choo.

Alan James said...

choo choo choo choo choo choo, get out of the way. choo choo choo choo choo 28 in 10.

sid greenberg/nyc said...

OOoppps. Another pitcher starts that the Yankees haven't seen before. Another loss . I guess the train starts rolling with CC on the engine. 28 in 10. choo choo.

Benny Pake said...

If the train doesn't get rolling, we may be left at the station. 28 in 10. choo choo.

Zack J said...

Choo choo right now. No more delays and or excuses.

Victor Bruno said...

Rumor has it that whoever we play in the playoffs is going to start all minor league pitchers who we have never seen. Tongue in cheek. Choo choo.

Victor Gandozi said...

Not only could we use some wins, but we need some wins. Start the engine CC Choo choo for 28 in 10.

Steve said...

CC is the best. But the Tigers used a pitcher we have faced already.
So we beat a top notch pitcher. Choo choo.

RLA said...

Moseley today. Pettitte still has pain in groin. Backed up a minimum of another week. Keep the train rolling. choo choo

Dana M said...

Don't forget the added plus. Arod was out of the lineup which helps. choo choo

Robert Mandell said...

Choo choo, can we finally get a streak going, a long run and get this train to full speed. Choo choo. 28 in 10.

Teena/Bronx said...

We have to keep winning because the Rays ain't giving up and neither are the bosux. Choo choo , so get this train up to speed.

Fred Slube said...

Wasn't Arod out yesterday and out again today. No wonder the train is starting to roll, the dead wood is gone. Choo choo.

bigbadwolf said...

Arod is not on the train. the train is starting to roll. choo choo, lets get #3 this afternoon. Choo choo.

Nick Wilson said...

The bulpen has been fantastic for a long stretch now. The best in the game right now. choo choo choo choo

johnsondc said...

Just keep winning. The individual crap is for the stat frauds who no nothing about baseball but BS you to death.

Seth Jones said...

Lets get the 3rd straight now and keep the train rolling into high gear. Choo choo.

Roy Addison said...

Arod out again today. gives us a great chance to keep the train moving ahead and pick up steam. choo choo.

Tom Loughlin said...

That's 3 in a row and the train is picking up speed. A rod out is a boon with his 4 hole filled with a quality bat, making 3,4,5 a deadly combo with him out. Keep the train rolling over the weekend. choo choo 28 in 10.

Steve said...

WINS are the only stat that truly mean anything in baseball. WINS determines the best players and teams. Stat frauds are utter fools.
Choo choo right over the stat frauds and WIN the pennant. 28 in 10.

Erica Johnston said...

Alone again at the top as the Rays go down in Oakland. Seattle for the weekend. The train needs to reach high gear with a sweep. Choo choo.

Harry Beisenett said...

The longer Arod is out of the lineup the better off we are. We can beat King Hernandez and Seattle if Arod is on the bench tonight. Keep Arod off the train. choo choo to 28 in 10.

sid greenberg/nyc said...

If AJ pitches tonight like his last start we should get a nice win and get the train really going. Choo choo for 28 in 10.

Sandro Icavor said...

Get your TV warmed up Yankee fans, the train is about to leave the station. Choo choo. Clear the tracks.

bigbadwolf said...

Arod starts, crippling the lineup, and then jumps from the train wasting a player. I'm afraid the train is going to have to start again tomorrow, hopefully without Arod.

Ted Long said...

Well the Rays and bosux both lost, so another day off the calender in our favor. We get another chance to roll the train today and hopefully Arod is not on board. choo choo, just keep winning. Nothing else counts.

William Mensom said...

Here is a fact and quote from two writers for MLB....""""""""As important a piece as Rodriguez is to the Yankees' offense, the team is a remarkable 10-1 when he doesn't play, including the three wins earlier this week against the Tigers."""""""
Some people (stat frauds, talking heads, sports writers, all too many ignorant baseball fans), just don't get it. No ONE individual is more important than the team. That is why the WIN METHOD rules baseball because the WIN METHOD rates players who help their team WIN over their own individual meaningless stats. Baseball is played for the success of the team, not the success of any individuals.

YankeeMike said...

10-1 without Afraud in the lineup. WOW. Great post William. Vasquez up today and is overdo for a real good game. We need it with Pettitte still out and only CC and Hughes to really count on.

Stan the Man said...

The stat frauds would say the 11 games are to small a sampling or better yet an anomaly. What fools. Yes, Javy needs to win and pitch well, or he may not be around next year.

Gene P said...

Arod out of the lineup. That ups our chances of winning. Go Yanks. Choo choo.

Jerry Curcio said...

Not only does it up our chances, but we do win with Afrauds replacement knocking in the winning RBI. Javy was garbage again, the pen was fantastic again, and we win without Afraud again to go 11-1 without him.

Roy Addison said...

Gutty win by the Yankees today as we head down the stretch run for the pennant. Pressure on the Rays and sux to keep up tonight. CC tomorrow to win the series.

bigbadwolf said...

Big time break for the Yankees. Arod is put on the 15 day disabled list. Choo choo choo choo, the train starts moving for the stretch run.

Teena/Bronx said...

Great news with Arod out. A lot of rain here today and could make game iffy this afternoon. I am sure they will try to do everything to get game in. Choo choo, lets win again.

Giambino said...

Looks like another Arodless win for the Yankees and 17th for CC the best pitcher in baseball.

Zack J said...

Looks like the Yankees are bringing up Nova to pitch Monday in Toronto. Lets get another engineer at the helm of the choo choo. Choo choo 28 in 10.

Vinny F said...

Solid win today. Now whoever we use, we have a real cleanup hitter. Nova gets his big chance tomorrow. Choo choo Ivan, keep the train rolling.

Yankeeforever said...

Good luck to Nova, we need a shot in the arm. Nunez and Nova can be the vacine. Choo choo.

Sharon/NC said...

It would be great if Nova does to Toronto what most first time we see pitchers do to us, WIN, Choo choo.

bigbadwolf said...

Wins are the only thing that counts in baseball. Wins determine who is best. That is why the WIN METHOD rules and the stat frauds are fools.

Victor Gandozi said...

I agree the WIN METHOD defines baseball teams, players, and talent. Only the losers use meaningless individual stats, and when theri players don't win, they blame anything and everything else but their losing players and their useless stats.

Les Kirkman said...

Great game from Nova. Hope he replaces Vasquez in the rotation. Tough loss never the less. Need to bounce back today with Moseley. The train isn't rolling yet and it is getting late. choo choo.

Larry Stewart said...

Tough loss, but Nova was surely a bright spot. Need to win tonight. Choo choo.

Billy Morgan said...

Nova did look good and deserves more opportunities to start. rough loss, but we will perservere.

Steve said...

I am very glad I never joined any of the baseball forums. I was looking over the Yankee posts at a dump called baseball fever and was astounded by the overwhelming amount of mis-information, utter garbage, and ignorant opinions of almost all the posters there. If you want to get some laughs and really appreciate the knowledge and wisdom you find here, go to baseball fever and laugh your a's off.

bigbadwolf said...

I have visited there a few times. I can't believe so many there do not know baseball in the slightest. The laud garbage players and demean the best in the game. But that is what you get when you are a stat freak.

William Mensom said...

You live by stats, you die by stats. You live with WINS, you win championships. Logic prevails, winning is the most important thing in baseball. Winning defines the game. Losers talk individual stats, winners win games and championships. Case closed.

Dana M said...

Moseley needs to earn us a win tonight and get the train rolling. We still have not made a sustained run at any point this year. Dpwn the stretch is the time for champions.

Carl Joyner said...

Great win. Bats made it easy for Moseley. But most important, another win. Hughes for the series win in game three.

Nick Polito said...

Tampa won to keep pace, what a stretch run this will be. The bosux rained out , and need to play a double header today to keep pace and alive.

Alex B said...

Just wins, just wins.

BevB said...

Hughes today to keep the train moving. Choo choo 28 in 10 choo choo.

YankeeMike said...

Now 13-1 without Arod. we are just plain and simple a better team without him. Lets win the series tonight and take the division down the stretch. choo choo

Linda Pardo said...

The bosux are playing a two today, but we can not control their outcome. We can only control our games and need to control them by WINNING. choo choo

Gene P said...

This is baseball at its best. Teams fighting tooth and nail for playoff spots. Go Yankees, choo choo.

sid greenberg/nyc said...

We aren't winning and we are hanging by a thread. The train isn't gathering momentum because we are not winning. Baseball and being the best is all about winning and WINS.

Eddie OConnor said...

Never should lose a game like last night. Frustrating that we are now putting daylight between us and the competition. The choo choo better start running.

Warren Hammond said...

People, remember, all we have to do is make the playoffs. We don't have to win the division. Get into the second season and go from there. Choo choo.

Steve said...

Day off then WIN or perish with the stat frauds.

Ted Lyles said...

You've got it Warren. Just have to make the playoffs, and then it's a whole new season. Choo choo.

Claude G said...

It should be a great run to the finish, the bosux are still alive.

bigbadwolf said...

OK people, time to put up or shut up. And WINS will shut up a lot of people. Choo choo.

Ken Sheppard said...

Rays and sux are playing each other. Great chance to gain separation with a sweep in Chicago. Go Yankees, get the choo choo rolling.

Erica Johnston said...

Earth to AJ. Earth to AJ. Come in AJ. This is a SOS. SOS to AJ. We need you to pitch a good game. Choo choo.

Deb F said...

Very nice Erica. I second your thoughts.

Victor Bruno said...

Game time. Go Yankees. The final run. Choo choo.

Mitch Daniels said...

AJ is burying us. Bring up another AAA pitcher.

William Mensom said...

AJ is killing us, bu;t we are still in first place. CC tonight. What a great pitcher he is. Pressure to break losing streaks, pressure of post season games, and CC seldom fails. The best there is. Choo choo.

Redsoxfan6 said...

We are coming to get you all. Right now I think we are the best team in baseball. Peaking at the right time.

WIN METHOD said...

Your team is a great representative of the AL East, the greatest division in baseball by far. I have stated since the beginning of the season that the three best team in baseball where the YANKEES, the Rays, and the bosux. It is sad that one of the three best in the game will not get a chance to make the playoffs, and one will not get a chance to play in the World Series. Good luck and may the team with the most WINS, win. Sorry stat frauds, but the team with the most WINS and their players are the best.

Erica Nuyens said...

Dead on right WIN METHOD. But then again, you are almost never wrong. We need to be one of the two going to the playoffs. CC can't do it alone. Choo choo. Love ya.

RLA said...

We are still the best and we are going to win it all. Led by the Captain and CC. Choo choo.

Giambino said...

If he have anything in the tank, time to let it go and get on with the job at hand. WIN. Choo choo.

Harry Beisenett said...

CC can't carry the team by himself. Hughes has held his own, however he may seem to be weakening after a long first full season. Pettitte is consistent and reliable, but is ailing and hopefully he will be back by mid September. Vasquez is a inferior nl pitcher who struggles in the big league AL. AJ is a bitter disappointment, ugh. Nova could be the September surprise that carries the day.

Sharon/NC said...

Well said Harry. This is why I post here. Intelligent opinions with almost no BS from the phonies who don't know baseball.

Steve said...

Not a pretty win, but a win never the less. One less day of the season and still in first.

Linda Rice said...

Nova can be our shining star today and breathe life unto us. Choo choo, Ivan.

Redsoxfan6 said...

Thank you for your comments WIN METHOD. I respect your words because I feel you know more about baseball than anyone I have ever come across. We lost a tough one yesterday and with all the injuries we have had this season, I have come to realize how much baseball is team and winning over any ones individual stats. We are still in contention because of not any few single players, but because we win as a team with everyone, all 30 to 40 players contributing in their own way. A fan forever.

bigbadwolf said...

Great reply redsoxfan. Wins and winning always determines the best. Only the most knowledgeable baseball fans accept this fact. Other play their fantasy league games and with themselves.

YankeeMike said...

Lets get another great game from Nova and earn the win. Wins carry the day and will determine the best.

Erica Johnston said...

Bring the bats guys, Nova be our shining star. Go Yankees.

Sam Long said...

There has to be a lot of pressure for Nova. But the Yankees bring their kids along slowly and deliberately instilling in them the competitive edge of a champion. Go Ivan, become the next home grown rotation pitcher.

Stan the Man said...

We didn't bring our bats, our shining star earns his first major league win, and the best bullpen in baseball is perfect to close out the WIN. One more game and one more day off the calendar.

Eddie OConnor said...

A hard fought win, but we got it. Head home and hopefully a big string of wins. Nobody is throwing in the towel. Great game from Nova, he really looks good and is earning his way onto the rotation.

Gus Papa said...

One of our competition has to lose a game to us tonight. That's what winning can do for you. Moseley tomorrow at home.

Deb F said...

It should be near improbable for the redsox to make the playoffs after losing to Tampa again last night. Moseley tonight, hope he throws another good win. But we need to score some runs. Choo choo.

Fred Slube said...

Well it looks like it may be a dogfight for first, but it seems we have a lock on the playoffs right now. If we finish 16-16 which is poor the sox must go 22-9 just to tie. And if we finish 18-14 which is very realistic the sox would have to go 24-7 to tie. We are looking good, but lets win it all. Choo choo.

Stan the Man said...

A win a day keeps Tampa at bay. Get a big time win streak going guys. This is the perfect time. The cream rises to the top.

George W said...

Just win one game at a time and win the division.

Nick Polito said...

Great games from Nova to keep us alive while recovering from injuries. This kid has been brought along slowly and brilliantly by the Yankee organization which is the best in baseball.

Les Kirkman said...

Good win. Finish August with a final win for the month. Choo choo.

Phil Jenkins said...

Tampa and the Yankees have now set a new MLB record for being tied for first place for the most consecutive days during a season at 8. The season total is now 23 days tied. Looks like both will make the playoffs as Boston may have a very time catching either.

Bill Behan said...

Hughes tonight. Keep it rolling Phil. Choo choo.

Tom Loughlin said...

Keep it going Phil. Suck it up and pull it together. Shine and WIN. Choo choo.

johnny said...

Go Yankees.

Teena/Bronx said...

Game time. An Arodless lineup could mean some more big innings tonight and a deadly middle of the lineup. Very hot and miserable here.

David Stern said...

Teena calls it as it is. Arodless middle of the lineup is solid and wins games. In first alone starting September. Close it out guys.

Alan James said...

A very solid win last night. Hughes gutted it out to earn the win. AJ tonight. Don't blow the momentum AJ. Keep the train moving or get off.

Don Robb said...

Just WINS fans. WINS are what the games are played for and all that counts. WINS determines the best.

sid greenberg/nyc said...

There is this old expression, and it very appropriate for AJ today. """S_ _ _ or get off the pot.

Billy Morgan said...

Yes Sid, AJ needs to get his act together, start and keep winning. The excuses need to stop.

Davos Akropolous said...

This is the best baseball site in the world.

Vinny F said...

Welcome Davos to the best baseball site in the world. Remember, to be the best you must win. Try to win AJ to keep the train rolling. Choo choo.

johnsondc said...

AJ earns the win and the bullpen is impeccable again. The train is rolling. CC at the engine tomorrow.

will-i-am said...

Nice job by AJ to keep the train moving and clinch the series.
go for a four game sweep todsy with CC. Choo choo.

Xavier M said...

The train is moving faster and faster.. Keep it rolling CC. aka Choo choo.

Another win is at hand. CC has been super and Granderson has been grand. The A's have been swept and the train is moving fine. Choo choo.

Lou Lis said...

Six in a row. Choo choo. the cream is rising. Choo choo.

Steve said...

Our shining star Nova goes tomorrow to keep the train rolling at high speed. The Jays are throwing Morrow and have said it will be Morrows last start of the year, because they want to shut him down do to his innings pitched. Wonder if he will let it all hang out in an effort to beat the Yanks in his last appearance. Go Ivan, keep us rolling. Choo choo.

Teena/Bronx said...

Keep hurricane Earl away from NY. We
want to keep the train rolling without any stops. Choo choo Ivan.

Billy Morgan said...

Choo choo, lets keep it going. Choo choo.

Steve said...

One more inning and the train is cruising at high speed for the seventh in a row. This finally looks like the long awaited non stop run. and it couldn't come at a better time than the September run to the finish. Bullpen is fantastic. Choo choo.

Phil Jenkins said...

The win is in the bank. 27 games left. This team is super without Arod, and it just goes to show how much the Yankees do not need him. I can just see when he comes back and struggles and creates the hole in the lineup, him saying, """I need time to readjust my swing and eye.""" But he will come 'out of it' with a 3 HR game in a 14-2 Yankee win.

Alan James said...

Arod really does not help this team. I also think that he is physically breaking down do to his extensive use of steroids over his career. He seems to be deteriorating not only physically body wise, but in general lack of overall power.

YankeeMike said...

You may be right Alan. Hope he does not cause a letdown when he gets put into the lineup. Maybe we will get lucky and catch him on a hot streak.

johnsondc said...

Vasquez goes today after two long relief stints where he was exceptional. Javy was hitting 90mph and looking good. Lets see if he has his arm and stuff today to keep the train rolling for an 8th straight win. Choo choo

Harry Beisenett said...

Vasquezs rotation spot is being challenged by Nova. The ball is in hands to whether or not he responds positively or not. But the train needs to keep moving. choo choo

Linda Pardo said...

Rumor has it Arod may not be able to return to lineup after stint on DL. Oh happy days. Choo choo

Sandro Icavor said...

Wow! 8 non stops. the longest train run of the season. All without Arod. The best bullpen in baseball throw another 4 1/3 innings of no run baseball. Choo choo

Les Kirkman said...

Javy was nothing special. The bullpen win another. Thames with game winning two run HR. Go for sweep tomorrow. choo choo. Stay home Arod.

Carl Joyner said...

Great game for the Yankees. The playoffs are assured with the bosux losing. First or second in the division makes little difference, but first is what we want. Choo choo.

Evan Donovan said...

Yes, another playoff season for the Yankees led by Caaptain Derek Jeter. How sweet it is. choochoo.

Billy Morgan said...

Hughes on tap today trying for 17th win. Wins are good and count for something unlike other pitching stats. Keep the train moving Phil. choo choo.

Deb F said...

I am prayer that Girardi does not play Arod until the train ride is over and we lose a few games. Keep him on the bench and out of the lineup, please. Choo choo.

Cory said...

Yes, Arod needs to be kept out of the lineup. His insertion can only wreak havoc to the team psyche and cause a train wreck while the train is moving at full speed. No stops, no Arod. Choo choo, full speed ahead.

Anonymous said...

Lets go Phil, look sharp, be sharp. Choo choo.

Frankie Sergi said...

The playoffs are a sure thing, now to win the division and gain home filed advantage. Choo choo.

Teena/Bronx said...

Nnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooo, Arod is in the lineup. Can we play around him and keep the train rolling? One good thing, the weather is gorgeous.

bigbadwolf said...

If we lose, we all know who will be to blame. But lets win and play around the hole in the lineup.

Stan the Man said...

Afraud IS back. Two on two out and he hits a 35 foot roller fielded by the pitcher and is tagged out by same. I have bad vibes.

Giambino said...

Hey hey Arod is back. The train comes to a screeching halt and the team loses. Ugh.

Gus Papa said...

One consolation. Tampa loses to Baltimore with the dreaded one run loss.

Ken S said...

We better not go on a losing streak with Arod in the lineup. AJ tomorrow to get the train going again.

Mike Smith said...

We did catch a break today with Tampa and Boston losing. But we need to keep winning and define our own destiny. We can't let Arod get in the way and hold us back.

Norm P said...

AJ facing a team that just took 2 of 3 from the Rays. Try and get the train back on the tracks. choo choo.

Linda Rice said...

Wow, another day game. Is that 6 straight?

Dana M said...

Hey hey Arod is back. Two games, two losses. Same old same old.

James Curcio said...

Our hide is saved again as Boston trounces Tampa. This Arod crap has to stop.

Sean Smith said...

I wonder what would happen if Girardi benched Afraud for a week. Probably a 6-1 or 7-0 win record for the team.

Al Ashton said...

CC goes for his 20th tonight. Hopefully that will overwhelm the Arod negativity.

johnsondc said...

I have seen much well deserved Arod bashing here. For those of you new to the WIN METHOD, let me explain using the greatest WIN METHOD tenet. It is not what one accomplishes for themselves, but what they accomplish for the team that matters most. Meaning if you hit four HRs in a game with eight RBIs, it means nothing if the team loses. Winning is as much an attitude, desire, and will as anything else. Winning is always the desired result of each game, and never what one player accomplishes for themselves. Every play offensively and defensively determines the eventual outcome of each game. No one player is bigger than the game.

Eddie OConnor said...

WIN METHOD fans understand johnsondc, it is the stat frauds who would rather die with a high individual stat loser than win as a team.

Linda Pardo said...

Get us straight CC. get the train rolling. Work around Arod.

Steve said...

Even CC couldn't overcome Arod. Arod back for three games and we have a perfect record. three losses.

Zack J said...

Maybe our shinning star Nova who hopefully hasn't been tainted by Arod can break the slide and get us back on the tracks. Choo choo Ivan.

YankeeMike said...

Nova pitches great and keeps us in the game. the bullpen is impeccable and earns the win as Swisher saves our souls with a walk off two run dinger.

bigbadwolf said...

A day off before heading out on a nine game road trip. Three in Texas, Tampa, and Baltimore. We need to just WIN games. Winning determines the best except in the idiot fantasy game world of fools.

William Mensom said...

Tough win yesterday with Swish getting the walk off pie. Pitching has been relatively solid with the bullpen the best in the game. the bats need to be more consistent. Jeter in a horrendous slump doesn't help but he will be out of it just in time to make a brilliant impact during the playoffs. Hopefully Arod will get hot at the right time and help us out a bit.

Steve said...

I had a conversation with several very ignorant stat fraud geeks this morning and I was amazed to hear that not one of them considers CC Sabathia in the top five picks for AL Cy Young award. Their consensus opinion is that wins mean nothing. My last comment to them was illustrated in my first sentence above and finished with that they were jerks who know nothing about baseball.

johnsondc said...

William, pay the stat frauds no mind. The are the most ignorant people in the world. I have had many say to me that losing is better than winning if their individual player does well. The talk forums are notorious for stat fools. they spew venom at players who are champions and idolize big time all time losers.

RLA said...

Every once in awhile some stat geek posts here and questions the WIN METHOD tenets. They are always humiliated regarding their ideas and views. Winning and wins is truly the only thing that counts in baseball and always determines the best. To think otherwise makes one look like and utter fool. And I can give you right now a hundred names of fools who post on the baseball forums.

Phil Jenkins said...

This is the garbage you hear from the BS stat frauds. 'My pitcher had a 1.00 ERA for the game, your pitcher had a 5.00, my pitcher is better and the greatest.' Sorry stat fraud your pitcher lost the game and my pitcher won. Stat fraud, ' but my pitcher has a better ERA.' So you think losing is better than winning? Yes, my pitcher is better than yours. What God damn fools the stat frauds are.

sid greenberg/nyc said...

As of right now the three best pitchers in the AL and therefore MLB since the nl is inferior, based on WON?LOSS records are CC Sabathia, David Price, and Phil Hughes. Baseball is played to win and the pitchers who do this the most and lose the least for their team must be considered the best in the game. Any other stat used by the fools who live and die by individual stats is just that, a fools stat.

Gus Papa said...

Vazquez goes tonight. Unless he sees the light we better bring the bats. Wins are what decides the best. we need to keep winning.

Bert Jackson said...

The september games will be auditions to see who earns playoff honors. Using the age old expression, '''s__t or get off the pot.'''

Stan the Man said...

Also, don't be surprised to see Jeter bounce out of his slump with a vengeance. He hit the ball very well in the last O's game the Yankees won. Javy does need to get on board, or he may be looking in for the playoffs.

Sharon/NC said...

Javy, AJ, and Moseley are slated for the Texas series, holding out CC and Hughes for Tampa. Very interesting. A big test for the Texas trio.

And that would slate Nova as the third starter in Tampa. I wonder if Joe is telling everyone something.

Javy was just so so. The bats put plenty on base, but did not deliver WHEN it counted the most. Rotten loss.

AJs turn to be the man after yesterdays bitter loss. Step up AJ.

We need this game tonight. AJ needs to come through now.

The Rays have routed the Jays. We need the win to hold a game advantage. This is baseball at its best.

WIN METHOD said...

Take heart WIN METHOD fans. This is not the end of the world or even signs of trouble. First, we have made the playoffs. The sole goal for every team over the 162 game regular season schedule should be to make the playoffs. Everyone plays an unequal biased schedule with some teams having it easier than others. But, that is the way the present day MLB schedule is constructed. One winner in each division and the 2nd place team with the most WINS make the playoffs. Everything comes down to and is based on WINS and winning. Nothing else matters, no individual stats (except for WINS and Saves by pitchers), How many HRs, or runs scored, or BAs. Only WINS, and WINS determine the best players and teams over the 162 game schedule. What I am getting at, is it makes no difference whether or not you win your division or are the wild card, the four teams all go to the playoffs. The playoffs are where the 'second season' begins. As a team you win your first series and you move to the next, you lose you go home as one of the eight best teams in baseball, sadly giving the far inferior national league equal value as the much superior American League. Some American League teams do not go to the second season even though they are better than the national league team who do go to the playoffs. Being the wild card is not so bad and even may be a blessing to a quality American League team. It just might raise the awareness of the wild card team, that yes even though they are a great team, but there are other great teams with the same goal, the WORLD Championship, as you. That can only be earned by winning and WINS. Absolutely nothing else matters, no matter what you may hear from brain dead talking heads and the stat fraud fools of the world.
