WIN METHOD - YANKEE BASEBALL                              HOT STOVE 2024 - 2025

The 2024 season has concluded, not in the way YANKEE fans were looking for.  Playing the 162-game regular season and making the playoffs was really good. Winning two playoff series against two of the best teams in baseball and earning the right to be one of only two teams in the World Series was great.  Losing the World Series, even maybe the way the YANKEES lost the World Series was a big letdown, and a sad way to end the 2024 season. Bad things can happen at bad times, and vice versa, it is part of baseball.

The 2024 season is now part of the past. We are now between seasons, and the hot stove is lit, as the stove is warming up.  There are some big names in free agency who teams will be wooing and bidding on.  None bigger than Juan Soto.
The YANKEES will do everything they can to keep Soto in pinstripes and teamed with Aaron Judge, keeping intact the most formidable one-two offensive punch in baseball. The YANKEES will also be in the market, either through free agency, trade, or from their minor league system a first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, starting pitcher, high pressure relief pitcher, and an outfielder.

From the horse's mouth, the YANKEES will be all in on reaching and winning the World Series in 2025. It's up to the YANKEE brass to put the pieces in place to make it happen, and then for the pieces to make happen on the field. Watch for a couple of internal options this season.  WIN METHOD baseball will be the battle cry.  Hal Steinbrenner and company will do their best; however, it always takes two parties to make a deal happen.

For you, the fans of the WIN METHOD blog and concept, this blog will hit the two billion view mark over the next two weeks.  That is simply amazing.  Fans read and post on this blog from all over the world, you all have made the WIN METHOD blog the number one YANKEE baseball blog in existence, bar none. Thank you for being here and all your comments.  Isn't it great to have no advertisements, no sign up nonsense, no popups, and no ignorant moderators telling you what you can and can't say.

Thank you all again, for being an integral part of this blog.  LETS GO YANKEES.

Final. Yankees lose 7-5. Warren was very strong, going 4 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 1 hit, a 2 run HR. Left game up 4-2. Dominquez, Volpe, and Rice each with a solo HR. Cruz pitches 2 innings 6 up 6 down striking out 4. Then 8th inning, Hill in and gives up double and rbi single before getting a ground out. Leiter in, 2 walks loading the bases and blows game giving up grand slam, taking the loss. A should've, could've won game, BUT, Leiter failed big time when it mattered most.

OK WIN METHOD fans. >> If Williams is not on maternity leave, after Cruz pitched his 6th and 7th shutout innings and the Yanks go into the 8th up 4-2 as they did tonight, Hill and Leiter don't pitch, Weaver and Williams pitch the 8th and 9th and the Yankees likely win the game.

Hedrick, Gomez, and Weaver each went two innings allowing 0 runs and 0 hits. Weaver, our closer allowed a hit in the eleventh and that lost the game. Great WIN METHOD production from three relievers. No production from the starter and closer who lost the game. Lineup. Chisholm rbi double in first inning, and from innings innings two thru eight the Yankees did nothing at all. In the ninth Peraza rbi double and Grisham 2 rbi single tie game at 4, yes, when it mattered most. In the tenth and eleventh inning the Yankees had six outs to produce when it mattered most and they lost the game.

Final. Yankees win 4-2. Fried 6 2/3 gives up 2 runs and earns the win. Weaver 1 1/3 perfect innings for the hold. Williams 1 perfect innings for the save. Wells rbi walk with the bags full, followed by Dominguez 3 rbi double for the game winning hit when it mattered most. Tough game but a win and the series is won with a chance for sweep tomorrow.

Fred Slube said...

A 4-2 win. Freed with a good 6 2/3 innings allowing two runs for the win. Judge 2 hits and Dominguez 3 hits, and Volpe 1 hit. Dominguez's third hit was the big hit of the game, coming with the bases loaded, a double clearing the bases for 3 rbi's.

Schmidt with his debut tomorrow. Could make for a gigantic plus for the rotation.

Clarke Schmidt pitching well with no setbacks this season will help cover the absence of Cole.

The Yankees really dodged a bullet when the spotlight hog, phony, Soto did not accept their contract offer this winter. We built a better team with the money and have his replacement in Grisham for 1/150th of the cost. Throw in we won't have to worry about Soto when he breaks down.

Todays Yankee Lineup

Clarke Schmidt RHP

P Goldschmidt (R) 1B
C Bellinger (L) RF
A Judge (R) DH
J Chisholm Jr. (L) 2B
A Volpe (R) SS
A Wells (L) C
T Grisham (L) CF
J Domínguez (S) LF
O Peraza (R) 3B

Peraza should not be starting at 3B or anywhere. Schmidt five innings?? Only if he throws strikes and is truly ready.

Very nice game from Schmidt. Goes 5 2/3 innings and leaves with a no decision and a 3-3 tie. 73 pitches right on target for first start.

Final. Yankees win 4-3. Schmidt with a strong first start of the season. Goes 5 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs. Leiter goes 1 1/3 shutout ball for the win. Cruz goes final 2 innings for a 6 out save, helped by a great final out diving catch by Bellinger. Three game sweep of the Royals.

Yanks sweep KC with 4-3 win. Now go on road to play Rays in Tampa, at Yankees George M. Steinbrenner Field, the Yankees spring training home field. Four game series with Yankee pitchers named, Warren, Rodon, Carrasco, and Fried. Thursday thru Sunday.

Of course, the Yankees won tonite 4-3, but I really enjoyed watching the game. It was well played, crisp, clean, and fast; just 2 hours and 20 minutes. Finally, Judge home run to win the game.

Final. Yanks win 6-3. Warren started and was in trouble early, went 1 2/3 innings 4 hits and a walk but only 1 run, when Yarbrough came in to get the 3rd out and the bases loaded in 2nd inning. Yarbrough went 2 2/3 innings and was also in trouble, giving up 6 hits 1 walk but only 2 runs. Then Hill came in, went 2 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs and earned the win. Hamilton went 1 2/3 just 1 hit, 0 runs and earned a hold. Lastly, Williams in for the save and closed it out with a 1,2,3 9th. Judge rbi single, Rice 4-5 with 2 rbi's, Bellinger ground out rbi, Dominguez ground out rbi, and Cabrera 2-3 with a solo HR. Enough production when it mattered by the offense, and enough production when it mattered by the pitchers for the win.

Yankees win a nail biter 1-0. Rodon goes six shutout innings for the win. Leiter a shutout 7th for a hold. Cruz a shutout 8th for a hold. Weaver a shutout 9th for the save. Each Yankee reliever struck out 2 batters in their inning. Lone Yankee rbi from Grisham when it mattered most.

Eddie OConnor said...

Yankees with a 1-0 win. Grisham rbi single for the only run of the game. Yankee pitchers with shutout. Rodon 6, Leiter 1, Cruz 1, and Weaver 1 innings combined only gave up 3 hits and 2 runs for W-H-H-S.

will-i-am said...

Final. Yankees win a sparkler 1-0. Rodon pitches a six inning 0 run 2 hit gem for the win.
The bullpen finished it off with a gem of their own. Leiter one inning, Cruz one inning, and Weaver one inning each struck out two batters. Only one Ray reached base on a single off Leiter. Leiter and Cruz earned a hold, and Weaver earned the save. Yanks take first two games of this series with two games to go.

Zhaire said...

Grisham with the winning rbi and a great defensive play on a ball off the centerfield wall relaying the ball on the fly to Volpe who relayed the ball on the fly to Cabrera who tagged out the hitter at third base. The hitter was the first batter in the inning, if he had made it to third, the Rays would have had a man on third with no outs in a one run game. Likely could have turned the game into a Ray win. The play was an example of a WIN METHOD defensive play when it mattered most.

Swen Jorgensen said...

Will Carrasco repeat his last start? Hope so. Just keep the Yanks in the game, and hope they put up a couple of crooked numbers. Earn the win.

Yankee with a horrendous loss. Leading 8-4 in bottom of ninth, Yank closer was an utter failure giving up 4 runs for an 8-8 tie. then Yanks in 10th fail to score with men on first and third with no out. Then Gomez gives up game losing HR to first batter he faces. 10-8 loss. Sad.

Reed Harris said...

A dreadful loss, lead from first inning, all through the game, go to last Rays at bats with 4 run lead, have your closer in to get three outs, and you don't win. Goodbye Clay Holmes hello Devin Williams. Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dominguez 2 run HR in 7th and Chisholm 2 run HR in 8th gave the Yankees a chance. Cabrera single in 9th after one out brought the tying in run to the plate.
