We are a week into spring training and I am in Tampa now for a few days before heading out to the colleges across America looking for the best potential WIN METHOD players out there and available.
Everything is looking good so far this spring, but for the loss of Greg Bird for the season with shoulder surgery. Bird is one of several YANKEE youngsters on the cusp of contributing to helping the YANKEES earn playoffs, win pennants, and win World Series in the coming years. Louie Louie Severino is here and looking for a very strong 2016 as a starting pitcher, Dellin Betances is here and one of the top relief pitchers in all of Major League Baseball. Gary Sanchez may make the team this spring and/or if not this spring, sometime this season. Also right fielder Aaron Judge and shortstop Jorge Mateo are making a very strong impression right now this spring and either one or both while still going to start in the minor leagues this season, could be seeing action with the YANKEES this year. There is also Rob Refsyder contending for a utility infield position. Plus any of several youngsters may come north with the YANKEES as middle relievers. Don't forget pitchers Lindgren and Kaprielian. The ones who do not, could also quickly develop and prove themselves with more development in the minors and be ready at a moments notice to help in the YANKEES drive for the pennant this season.
WIN METHOD fans, remember it is not what a player does for themselves that defines the best players, but what they contribute to help their team make the playoffs and advance through the playoffs. A sacrifice fly or advancing a runner, a single, a stolen base, a bunt can contribute to a win in any game, while a grand slam home run in a game you are winning 8-0 can be utterly meaningless to the team. Any team whose pitchers earn the most WINS, will make the playoffs, no other pitching stat can do that, no other pitching stat is more important than WINS. We all know it takes a team of players to help pitchers earn those wins and that is what determines the best teams and players in baseball. Players contributing to help each other win games. What you do for yourself means nothing if you do not help your team win by producing when it counts the most.
An issue was brought up by a poster a few months back regarding dating on blogger posts. After contacting Google representatives it was discovered that Google allows the false dating of posts, however the false dating of a blog will be discovered when Google actually dates the publishing date of the post in its search engine. In other words, a blogger falsely can post a blog post right now with a date of October 1, 2015, but when Googles search engine publishes the thread in its search engine it will have todays date as to when it was actually published. The blog date can be altered but the actual publishing date cannot.
The real baseball season, when the games count, and producing when it matters is just about a month away and baseball, Americas greatest sport will begin its 2016 season. Good luck to all the teams, but as always LETS GO YANKEES. The YANKEE team is getting younger and farm system is starting to produce players more consistently. Then there is always the possible WIN METHOD free agent when needed and available.

ReplyDeleteThose pitch trackers in spring training are almost never accurate. Severino faced 12 batters, 3 of which he struck out for a minimum of 9 pitchers. That would mean of the other 9 were one pitch outs, which seems highly unlikely.
Louie Louie threw strike after strike today. When a pitcher does that the batters know they have to swing. If the pitcher has decent movement the batters are swinging at what he wants to throw and where he wants to throw it. Three solid innings from Louie Louie.

We haven't been scoring many runs so far this spring. That may be to the extended use of so many minor leaguers so often. On the other hand the pitching has been very very strong and that goes for so many of the pitchers top to bottom.

ReplyDeleteJust to add, we have had views from over 200 countries, territories, etc., from all over the world. The United States is responsible for 95% of the views, the rest of the world 5%. Take it or leave it. No one is forced to post here and no one has ever been banned. The only posts not allowed are those that have foul curse words or those that are obvious spam.

ReplyDeleteIt was a request, not a demand. It's easy to type statistics on a blog and shows something of your character and brings in question the validity of everything you write that you refuse to show a screenshot of the picture.
Considering the lack of comments this blog has, that number of views would mean that like .1% of people who are viewing are actually posting. This is way below the standard, actually a crazy low percentage, and so it seems curious to me.
Thanks for bringing your claim even further into doubt.

ReplyDeleteRoy, do you realize that CC had a major personal issue, and a injury he tried to pitch through. Both his decisions were bad. He is tackling his problems head on and hopefully will overcome them. The light blinds many and they do not see, but would rather live in darkness and despair.

ReplyDeleteDo you realize his knee issue is permanent. He's technically always going to by trying to pitch through an injury. He was bad last year, bad the year before that, and bad the year before that. He's now 35, not a good age for a pitcher to be successful.
He not only needs to overcome his issues, he needs to change his entire pitching strategy - which for the last 3 years he's shown to be unable to do.
Realistically it's unlikely he performs well this year. He's just not the same pitcher he used to be.

ReplyDeleteZhaire, the stat fraud have been know to give up after one bad outing a player may have. Or if a pitcher does not throw at the velocity the stat frauds deems what it should be. Or if a hitter reaches a certain age and his batting average drops from .290 to .260 over one season, he his done, toast, over the hill, on a down slide, etc.

ReplyDeleteSteve - One bad outing? It's been three bad years. He's been trending downward for three years. Ever since he lost his velocity, he's struggled mightily, so in this case it does seem to be important for CC. Girardi even noted he might not earn a spot in the rotation...

For this story, there are those in the big boy camp who grew up and loved the great eras of baseball, guys like Goose Gossage, an era where players played year to year for their livelihood, a time when you got rated year to year, and you had no long term contracts. Then there is the little boy camp, where rules are created by unions and baseball owners to protect their overpaid, long term contracted, whining, sniveling, loser players. Whah, whah, whah. Player safety issue, Barabara Striesand. Go back to no batting helmets, no padded fences, the old rules, etc and lets see how these pampered little boys perform.

ReplyDeleteYou can dwell on the past all you want. The game is what it is now. Player safety - in all sports - is becoming a bigger issue. Honestly I like to see great players play the game, I don't see how injuries are good for baseball. So if they can do things to prevent injury, I'm all for it. There's nothing fun about a guy running into a wall and not getting up, or a player getting taken out at second and being out. That's not what baseball is about to me, and winning baseball teams should certainly not be trying to injure the other team, as you were implying with your sharpened cleats remark.

ReplyDeleteRoy, tell your story to Gossage and other past greats. I love baseball even with all its changes. It's just not the same or as good as in the older days. If you hate to see guys getting hurt, you must hate boxing, where the goal is to pummel your opponent.

ReplyDeleteFrank - I don't like boxing, but as you say - the goal in that sport it to knockout your opponent. The goal in baseball is not to injure the other team.
Personally I don't really give a hoot what Gossage thinks. Just because he was good some decades ago doesn't make him an authority on anything. His most recent comments were uncalled for and embarrassing, so much so that Yankees called him to denounce them. Baseball isn't hurting just because he says it is. Baseball isn't less great just because you say it is.
Roy, The Yankees did not reprimand Gossage, nor did they denounce him, they discussed his comments and expressed their stance. Your opinion has no more nor no less value than anyone here. His comments were they way he felt. His comments are the way many fans feel.

ReplyDeleteAll sports were played by men trying to make a living with the talent they had in the past. As each sport evolved the games via rules and regulations have been diluted and stripped of hard nose competition. The sports have been watered down and diluted. The games are now played by players where even the worse players get paid far more than the average working man. It is a shame.
ReplyDeleteMateo and Judge got their taste of the Yankee team. It is best that they keep developing and playing everyday. They will make their mark soon enough.
ReplyDeleteThe game is what it is. Times change, somethings get better and unfortunately somethings get worse. Just live with it and play on.
