WIN METHOD 2016 SEASON PART THREE

We are a week into spring training and I am in Tampa now for a few days before heading out to the colleges across America looking for the best potential WIN METHOD  players out there and available.

Everything is looking good so far this spring, but for the loss of Greg Bird for the season with shoulder surgery.  Bird is one of several YANKEE youngsters on the cusp of contributing to helping the YANKEES earn playoffs, win pennants, and win World Series in the coming years.  Louie Louie Severino is here and looking for a very strong 2016 as a starting pitcher, Dellin Betances is here and one of the top relief pitchers in all of Major League Baseball.  Gary Sanchez may make the team this spring and/or if not this spring, sometime this season.   Also right fielder Aaron Judge and shortstop Jorge Mateo are making a very strong impression right now this spring and either one or both while still going to start in the minor leagues this season, could be seeing action with the YANKEES this year.  There is also Rob Refsyder contending for a utility infield position.  Plus any of several youngsters may come north with the YANKEES as middle relievers.   Don't forget pitchers Lindgren and Kaprielian.  The ones who do not, could also quickly develop and prove themselves with more development in the minors and be ready at a moments notice to help in the YANKEES drive for the pennant this season.

WIN METHOD fans, remember it is not what a player does for themselves that defines the best players, but what they contribute to help their team make the playoffs and advance through the playoffs.  A sacrifice fly or advancing a runner, a single, a stolen base, a bunt can contribute to a win in any game, while a grand slam home run in a game you are winning 8-0 can be utterly meaningless to the team.   Any team whose pitchers earn the most WINS, will make the playoffs, no other pitching stat can do that, no other pitching stat is more important than WINS.  We all know it takes a team of players to help pitchers earn those wins and that is what determines the best teams and players in baseball.  Players contributing to help each other win games.  What you do for yourself means nothing if you do not help your team win by producing when it counts the most.

An issue was brought up by a poster a few months back regarding dating on blogger posts.  After contacting Google representatives it was discovered that Google allows the false dating of posts, however the false dating of a blog will be discovered when Google actually dates the publishing date of the post in its search engine.   In other words, a blogger falsely can post a blog post right now with a date of October 1, 2015, but when Googles search engine publishes the thread in its search engine it will have todays date as to when it was actually published.   The blog date can be altered but the actual publishing date cannot.

The real baseball season, when the games count, and producing when it matters is just about a month away and baseball, Americas greatest sport will begin its 2016 season.  Good luck to all the teams, but as always LETS GO YANKEES.  The YANKEE team is getting younger and farm system is starting to produce players more consistently.  Then there is always the possible WIN METHOD free agent when needed and available.

The views of the WIN METHOD blog will break the two hundred seventy million mark in the next week.  The WIN METHOD blog is viewed by people from all over the world and continues to be the best baseball blog in existence with the smartest most intelligent posters in the sports world.  WIN METHOD posters and followers continue to bury the stat frauds and fantasy game players on the baseball forums.  WIN METHOD  players know baseball and what it takes to win and be a winner.  The best teams and players win.

  1. Pineda with two scoreless innings in his first outing. 0-0 after 2.

  2. Welcome back WIN METHOD. Hope you had a good and successful trip. Glad to see more posts. Love ya,

    ReplyDelete
  3. 0-0 after 4 innings. Louie Louie with two shutout innings.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Severino goes three innings throwing 18 pitches, 16 of which were strikes.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Miller goes one shutout inning. Betances now in to pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Betances gives up a run. Yanks down 1-0 after 8.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Pestano and Lindgren with scoreless innings. Yanks coming to bat in 9th down 1-0.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yankee minor league subs rally in 9th but fall short leaving tying run on 3rd. Fianl, 1-0 loss.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Welcome almost home WIN METHOD.

    ReplyDelete
  10. WilsonsWay
Those pitch trackers in spring training are almost never accurate. Severino faced 12 batters, 3 of which he struck out for a minimum of 9 pitchers. That would mean of the other 9 were one pitch outs, which seems highly unlikely.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Louie Louie threw strike after strike today. When a pitcher does that the batters know they have to swing. If the pitcher has decent movement the batters are swinging at what he wants to throw and where he wants to throw it. Three solid innings from Louie Louie.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Getting a lot of nice pitching from several sources.

    ReplyDelete
  13. CC Sabathia starts today as Yankees travel to Miami to play Marlins. Lets go CC.

    ReplyDelete
  14. CC make first start today.

    ReplyDelete
  15. First baseball step on the road back for CC.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Best of luck CC. You can do it. Stay clean, play hard, do your best, and have a great winning season for yourself, your family, and your team.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I think it is going to be a season where the Yankees fool many of the naysayers, doubters, and utter fools.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Zhaire - who specifically are you referring to? For such a positive blog it seems you guys care a lot about what others think...

    ReplyDelete
  19. CC goes two very strong innings.

    ReplyDelete
  20. No score after five.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yanks down 1-0 after 8.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Final, Yanks go down 1-0 again.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The WIN METHOD blog just surpassed 270 million views a few minutes ago.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Pics or didn't happen!!

What a poor comment to view ratio.

    ReplyDelete
  25. We haven't been scoring many runs so far this spring. That may be to the extended use of so many minor leaguers so often. On the other hand the pitching has been very very strong and that goes for so many of the pitchers top to bottom.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sorry Roy, you are wrong again. Millions upon millions upon millions of people read book, but do not write them. The same for going to the most watched movies, but people don't go make movies. People just want the best and the WIN METHOD blog is the best.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Did you just compare going to a movie vs. making a movie to viewing a blog and commenting on a blog?

How in the world is that even remotely similar? Making a movie/writing involves money and a ton of work, so obviously more people are going to view them than create them. Commenting on a blog that you view takes little to no effort.

What point are you trying to make?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Roy gets cut off at the knees with johnsondc's brilliant, intelligent, and most important, accurate retort.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Brilliant? Cut at the knees? He just named a completely different scenario that in no way relates to this.

I feel like you people have lost your minds.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Roy, you conveniently skipped the reading of books by millions of people. It dies not cost money to write a book. If it is great, it will be read, just like this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Dan - no I didn't, I mention how writing a book takes a ton of time. Commenting on a blog does not. Do you not see the difference between writing an entire book to commenting on a blog that you frequently visit?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I haven't lost my mind, I'm just crazy. Crazy about baseball, the Yankees, and the WIN METHOD.
    Lets go Yankees.

    ReplyDelete
  33. There are millions of blogs, most with little no no readership. The WIN METHOD blog is just the opposite, it is one blog with millions of readers.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Great stuff here. That's my take.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think the point johnsondc is making is that great things attract vast amounts of viewers. A bad movie gets very few views and dies off, A bad book just withers away. A bad blog, gets no views, etc. It is not the making or writing or building, it is the attraction. The WIN METHOD, the Yankees, the baseball, the winning, the positive attitude, is the attraction.

    ReplyDelete
  36. One step forward for CC today. Keep positive CC, stay the course, and help your team win.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Be the man again CC. One step forward at a time and one win forward at a time.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Victor - does that change the fact that despite the alleged amount of views (270 million) this blog gets a very small amount of comments? That's the only thing I was saying, failing to see how anything he said relates to what I said.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Roy, the 270 million views are alleged only in your opinion. The views are in reality factual. It is similar to baseball, where wins determine who is best in the real baseball world, while meaningless individual numbers exist in the fantasy world to fool people and play make believe games.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Prove it. Screenshot.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Roy, anyone who does not believe the Yankees will be hot and heavy in contention for the division crown and more.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Don't do it johnsondc. Don't cater to anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  43. They give a view of where in the world the views are coming from as well, I think people here would find it pretty interesting.

Stop acting like I'm asking for something crazy here...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Also, while I agree wins determine the greatest, to exist that individual numbers exist in a fantasy world is pretty strange. The numbers DO reflect the events in the real world.

It just so happens they don't tell the full story.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Roy, type in WIN METHOD on any search engine. Enough said. Go play some fantasy baseball.

    ReplyDelete
  46. All stats exist in the real world. The only stat that determines the best in the real world is wins. In the fantasy world, the wins stat means nothing, only the individual stats count and are used to determine the fantasy best.

    ReplyDelete
  47. NJYANKEE - what a jerk response, that doesn't tell anything at all.

What are you getting so defensive for anyway, you make bold claims about this WINMETHOD guy and how popular this blog is, and the one time where some one can easily show proof of the claim, you guys get up in arms over the request.

Why, what are you so scared of?

    ReplyDelete
  48. NJYANKEE, Even on foreign search engines.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Roy, we do not cater to the demands, as foolish or righteous as the poster may believe they be.
Just to add, we have had views from over 200 countries, territories, etc., from all over the world. The United States is responsible for 95% of the views, the rest of the world 5%. Take it or leave it. No one is forced to post here and no one has ever been banned. The only posts not allowed are those that have foul curse words or those that are obvious spam.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The Yankees and Mets meet this afternoon. Nova goes for the good guys.

    ReplyDelete
  51. bigbadwolf
It was a request, not a demand. It's easy to type statistics on a blog and shows something of your character and brings in question the validity of everything you write that you refuse to show a screenshot of the picture.

Considering the lack of comments this blog has, that number of views would mean that like .1% of people who are viewing are actually posting. This is way below the standard, actually a crazy low percentage, and so it seems curious to me.

Thanks for bringing your claim even further into doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Roy, I think you are getting carried away with yourself. You are relatively new here and you post many views you obviously believe in. To make demands from the blog creator and or his administrators is a step to far in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Nova needs to produce to earn a starting spot. Or it may be long relief for him.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Eovaldi may get his first game action today.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I like that we are getting so much good pitching from many guys. I'll bide my time on the bats for another week or two, when the extra extras are shipped off to their various minor league teams.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Game time. Step up Nova. Earn the spot.

    ReplyDelete
  57. No score after one.

    ReplyDelete
  58. How are you all defining good pitching?

We've been losing more games than not, wins are the only pitching stats that matter...

    ReplyDelete
  59. 0-0 after 2. Both teams have 3 hits.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Nova with 3 scoreless. Yanks lead 1-0.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kaprielian in for a 1,2,3 4th. 1-0 Yankees.

    ReplyDelete
  62. For the uninformed. Use common sense. The games in spring training have zero value.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Kaprielian tagged for 4 runs in his 2nd inning. Yanks down 4-1 after 5.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Nick Goody Goody gets last out in 5th and then 1,2,3 6th. Down 4-1 after 6.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Seven complete. Yanks down 4-2.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Going to top of 9th. Yanks down 4-2. Again, one bad inning by one pitcher.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Two HRs from minor leaguers tie game in 9th 4-4. Valle and Higashioka.

    ReplyDelete
  68. 4-4 after 9. Going to play one more inning per agreement by managers.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Lindgren in for 10th.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Final 4-4. Lindgren looked good.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Another good pitching game for Yanks. Just one bad inning.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yankees have used many minor leaguers in lineup for almost all the games.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think Kaprielian will be real good after seasoning in the minors. Having college seasons behind him is an asset, now he will get professional advice on fine tuning his wares.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Tomorrow the Yankees will have their first split squad games with the Orioles and Blue Jays.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The pitchers have to get in their work. 18 innings will help.

    ReplyDelete
  76. We still haven't seen Eovaldi yet this spring.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Just wait to when we start using our regular lineup.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Split squad games today. Mitchell and Eovaldi to start for the Yankees.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Eovaldi making his first appearance of the spring is the last potential starter to see action.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Sanchez hasn't kick started so far this spring. He has 30 days more in the minors and the Yankees keep control for another year. That means Romaine likely to start season with Yanks. Probably good for Sanchez to develop that extra month at AAA.

    ReplyDelete
  81. johnsondc
I hope they give arugula a chance too

    ReplyDelete
  82. One thing is for sure, Girardi is getting a pretty good look at his minor leaguers.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Three innings complete in each game. Yanks up 2-1 in O's game. 2-2 with Jays.

    ReplyDelete
  84. 4-1 Yanks over O's after 5. Mitchell 3 innings allowing 1 run.

    ReplyDelete
  85. 4-3 Yankees over toronto after 5. Eovaldi 2 perfect innings. Miller gives up 2 runs and Chapman gives up a run.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yankees go down 8-4 to Jays after 6.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Tanks/O's 4-4 after 7.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Yanks and O's 4-4 after 8.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yanks down 10-4 to Toronto after 8.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yanks and Orioles out of pitchers 4-4 tie after 9.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Final 4-4 Yanks and O's.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Game over, Toronto 11 Yankees 4.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Eovaldi had a good first game Two perfect innings.

    ReplyDelete
  94. No one has given up the ship between the potential starters yet.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I thought Eovaldi was very sharp. Only had to throw 22 pitches for the six outs.

    ReplyDelete
  96. The Yankees are taking it slow with Gardner. Trying to extend his stamina into the season?

    ReplyDelete
  97. The Yankee team has gotten stronger with the addition of Castro, which was a brilliant deal. The team will be very strong when we start the season we the regulars.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Brilliant deal? We did have to give up a valuable piece in Adam Warren. Way too early to call any move brilliant.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yanks - Orioles this afternoon. Tanaka to start.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I think Gardner gets himself to amped up and that drains him. He and Ellsbury are the table setters and a major factor in how far this team will go.

    ReplyDelete
  101. It was mentioned somewhere that afraud could be a manager in baseball. Manager of illegal drug abuse and not getting caught?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Let the proven veterans take it easy. Let the youth develop and then let them all together to start the season.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Yanks have 7 regulars in lineup today. Missing Beltran and Gardner. Judge in and Denorfia in.

I agree AAA, Castro is going to be a gem for us.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yanks up 2-0 after one.

    ReplyDelete
  105. 7-0 Yankees after 4. Tanaka a very strong 3 innings and then Shreve with a domination 3 up 3 down inning. Shreve pitches to one batter in the 5th and gets him easily. Throwing hard moving strikes.

    ReplyDelete
  106. 7-0 Yanks after 4.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Cessa will have an impact on the Yankees before the season is over.

    ReplyDelete
  108. 7-1 Yankees after 7.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Yankee pitchers dominant again. 1 unearned run and just 3 hits.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Stats, stats meaningless stats...we got the win and that's all that matters.

    ReplyDelete
  111. The lineup scored runs today.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Very excited at our chance this season.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Spring training games do not mean anything. Players are honing their skills trying to get ready for WHEN THE GAMES COUNT at the start of the 162 game regular season.

    ReplyDelete
  114. And yet the scores and stats are constantly being posted here...

    ReplyDelete
  115. What stats Roy? No BAs, no RBIs, no ERA, no W/Lx, no SBs, no Rs, no HRs, and the beat goes on. Get over yourself Roy, you've been caught off base to many times.

    ReplyDelete
  116. " 1 unearned run and just 3 hits."
    "Final 7-1"
"Mitchell 3 innings allowing 1 run"

You blind? And actually I've never once been caught off-base by any reasonable measure. So get over yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Game facts Roy by posters following the game and passing on information. No BAs, no RBIs, no ERA, no W/Lx, no SBs, no Rs, no HRs, and the beat goes on. Get over yourself Roy, you've been caught off base to many times.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Ok I said stats and scores were being posted. They were. End of conversation. Your game facts are stats. You can name all the stats that weren't posted, but some still were.
Why did you repeat yourself. I'd like you to name one time I was off base. Otherwise be quiet

    ReplyDelete
  119. Also learn English- it's too many times

    ReplyDelete
  120. Louie Louie Severino goes for the Yankees today against the Tampa Bay Rays. Bloom and grow Louie Louie.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Roy, the WIN METHOD is a world wide blog. We have posters from all over the globe. We NEVER worry or complain about spelling, or tense usage, or any other middling misuse of English. Give it a break and try to be positive.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I normally wouldn't, but if he's going to incorrectly dispute something about me but repeating the same thing over and over, he can at least spell it correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Louie Louie should be set to go 4 or 5 innings this outing.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Only one definite regular in Yankee lineup today, Beltran. Another good look at the youth corps.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Game and Louie Louie time.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Louie Louie very strong thru 3. Hit Longoria with a pitch and best of all Louie Louie has hit at least three guys so far this spring. Don't let them dig in. No score so far.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Best of all he's hit three guys this spring? Really? I understand the need to use all parts of the plate but he isn't intentionally hitting these guys, it means he's missing his spot inside. I don't see how the batters getting his is a good thing

    ReplyDelete
  128. Louie Louie goes 3 2/3 innings of scoreless dominant pitching on 59 pitches. blooming and growing.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Still scoreless after four.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Really Roy. I am old school like many here. The Sal Maglie, Bob Gibson school. High and in and keep then off the plate.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Sorry, I guess I'm more interested that he's effectively retiring batters rather than hitting them (and shattering a guys wrist in one of the cases).

You can keep on rooting for him to hit people though.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Maturity beyond his age.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Yanks trail 2-1 after 7. All minor leaguers in now for Yanks.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Still getting a lot of great pitching this spring.

    ReplyDelete
  135. The Yanks have many very promising youngsters, that this team may be very solid and contenders for many years to come. A few may even be dealt for a needed quality piece.

    ReplyDelete
  136. That piece will have to fit in and of course be WIN METHOD. One mistake in signing afraud is enough for any team.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Love what WIN METHOD has done to help Cashman be able to deal for good parts making this team better than a good playoff team from last season. Without any disastrous injuries this years team could surprise many. But not the all knowledgeable WIN METHOD fans.

    ReplyDelete
  138. You know better than most William. It's been fun being a Yankee fan.

    ReplyDelete
  139. CC continues his comeback this afternoon against the Phillies. Keep moving forward CC.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Yes Bob, CC could be the story of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  141. If CC can produce on the field and win that could mean a very uplifting experience for the team.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I agree Deb F.

    ReplyDelete
  143. CC very sloppy, not helped by three errors, can't finish second inning and leaves trailing 2-0.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Nope CC is still awful, has been awful for a few years now

    ReplyDelete
  145. Yanks down 3-0 after 3.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Five inning complete, Yanks down 3-0.

    ReplyDelete
  147. """""""" Roy said...
Nope CC is still awful, has been awful for a few years now

    March 13, 2016 at 1:56 PM Delete""""""""""

Mr. negative rears his head again.

    ReplyDelete
  148. He's been bad for 3 years and has been getting worse each year. It's almost unheard of for pitchers to bounce back at his age. You can call me negative all you want but it's blind hope to think he can do any better

    ReplyDelete
  149. Yanks down 3-0 after 7. After CC's poor effort, Betances, Miller, Pineda, Chapman give up nothing looking very strong.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Roy, there are none so blind as those who will not see. The blindness is yours.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Shreve and Bleier finish off the 8th and 9th with scoreless innings. Yanks lose 3-0 all runs off CC Sabathia.

    ReplyDelete
  152. What am I not seeing in CC that you are that makes you think he'll turn it around

    ReplyDelete
  153. Roy, do you realize that CC had a major personal issue, and a injury he tried to pitch through. Both his decisions were bad. He is tackling his problems head on and hopefully will overcome them. The light blinds many and they do not see, but would rather live in darkness and despair.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Sean
Do you realize his knee issue is permanent. He's technically always going to by trying to pitch through an injury. He was bad last year, bad the year before that, and bad the year before that. He's now 35, not a good age for a pitcher to be successful.

He not only needs to overcome his issues, he needs to change his entire pitching strategy - which for the last 3 years he's shown to be unable to do.

Realistically it's unlikely he performs well this year. He's just not the same pitcher he used to be.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Off day tomorrow for Yankees. A little R&R for the vets.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Roy, where there is a will there is a way. When you give up you are done. Jimmy Valvano said it all, never give up.

    ReplyDelete
  157. The Yankees have an off day today.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Zhaire, the stat fraud have been know to give up after one bad outing a player may have. Or if a pitcher does not throw at the velocity the stat frauds deems what it should be. Or if a hitter reaches a certain age and his batting average drops from .290 to .260 over one season, he his done, toast, over the hill, on a down slide, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Lets see how Sabathia bounces back next time out.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Win it all guys.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Steve - One bad outing? It's been three bad years. He's been trending downward for three years. Ever since he lost his velocity, he's struggled mightily, so in this case it does seem to be important for CC. Girardi even noted he might not earn a spot in the rotation...

    ReplyDelete
  162. Here is an interesting link. Many of the older posters here will agree with Goose Gossages view on present day baseball.

Just cop and paste into your browser.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Thanks Cory. Old time baseball the way it should be played. to many whiners in the game now making to much and don't help their team to the playoffs. Bob Gibson would lay all of them on their butts and then we could separate the men from the boys.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Thanks guys, real baseball, not fantasy baseball. High and tight pitches. Take out the middle man on a double play. Catcher blocking the plate. Sharpening cleats.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Frank
Baseball is changing, you're going to have to accept that. Half the things you mentioned are illegal now. It's a player safety issue, which you seem to have little to no regard for. You sound a little bit like a maniac actually.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Roy, remember where you heard this. CC Sabathia 2016 AL comeback player of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Roy, there are two sides to stories. For this story, there are those in the big boy camp who grew up and loved the great eras of baseball, guys like Goose Gossage, an era where players played year to year for their livelihood, a time when you got rated year to year, and you had no long term contracts. Then there is the little boy camp, where rules are created by unions and baseball owners to protect their overpaid, long term contracted, whining, sniveling, loser players. Whah, whah, whah. Player safety issue, Barabara Striesand. Go back to no batting helmets, no padded fences, the old rules, etc and lets see how these pampered little boys perform.

  168. I'm to young. I never saw baseball played any other way than it is now. I read about it and here the old time players talk about it, and Gossage is not really that old. I don't believe some of todays players could play in the old days.

  169. Hear hear. Great post Frank.

You can dwell on the past all you want. The game is what it is now. Player safety - in all sports - is becoming a bigger issue. Honestly I like to see great players play the game, I don't see how injuries are good for baseball. So if they can do things to prevent injury, I'm all for it. There's nothing fun about a guy running into a wall and not getting up, or a player getting taken out at second and being out. That's not what baseball is about to me, and winning baseball teams should certainly not be trying to injure the other team, as you were implying with your sharpened cleats remark.
Linda - no chance, and you have no basis of reasoning for that claim.
Benny - It's amazing how nobody here knows how to use "too" correctly. I'm starting to get convinced that the same poster is posting under different names.

  171. Roy, they don't teach English in schools nowadays. The dumbing down decades.

  172. Judge and Mateo assigned to minor league camp so they can play everyday and bloom and grow.

  173. Roy, tell your story to Gossage and other past greats. I love baseball even with all its changes. It's just not the same or as good as in the older days. If you hate to see guys getting hurt, you must hate boxing, where the goal is to pummel your opponent.

  174. Tomorrow is Yankees first spring night game. Nova starting against the bosux.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Benny - are you in school right now where that would even be relevant?
Frank - I don't like boxing, but as you say - the goal in that sport it to knockout your opponent. The goal in baseball is not to injure the other team.

Personally I don't really give a hoot what Gossage thinks. Just because he was good some decades ago doesn't make him an authority on anything. His most recent comments were uncalled for and embarrassing, so much so that Yankees called him to denounce them. Baseball isn't hurting just because he says it is. Baseball isn't less great just because you say it is.

  176. Roy, The Yankees did not reprimand Gossage, nor did they denounce him, they discussed his comments and expressed their stance. Your opinion has no more nor no less value than anyone here. His comments were they way he felt. His comments are the way many fans feel.

  177. Night game tonight with Nova starting vs. the bosux.

  178. All sports were played by men trying to make a living with the talent they had in the past. As each sport evolved the games via rules and regulations have been diluted and stripped of hard nose competition. The sports have been watered down and diluted. The games are now played by players where even the worse players get paid far more than the average working man. It is a shame.

  179. Mateo and Judge got their taste of the Yankee team. It is best that they keep developing and playing everyday. They will make their mark soon enough.

  180. The game is what it is. Times change, somethings get better and unfortunately somethings get worse. Just live with it and play on.
