WIN METHOD 2017 SEASON - INJURIES - PERSEVERANCE - BLOOM AND GROW

Hello WIN METHOD  fans.  This season, as so many youngsters bloom and grow, has had far too many downs.  To be contending for the division title with all the injuries our players and team have sustained is remarkable and displays the character of our players and team.  We will overcome no matter what is thrown at us.

The 2017 disabled list (DL) has included Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird, Tyler Austin, Starlin Castro, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, Jacoby Ellsbury, Matt Holiday, CC Sabathia, Adam Warren, Aroldis Chapman, James Kaprielian, Gleyber Torres, Clarke Schmidt, and Dustin Fowler.   Several of these players have had their season ended.   For a few of these men recovery will take many months and they can only look forward to 2018.   The others can still contribute this season.  I just want to give a special shout out to Dustin Fowler whose injury may be the most devastating.   I have had a special liking for Dustin for a long time now and I will pray for his healing, full recovery, and return to the YANKEES in 2018.

It is truly hard to believe, that with all the injuries, this team is still right in the thick of the pennant race.   The character of these WIN METHOD players is their crutch, the attitude they display when challenged with adversity is magnificent.
They play with one goal, for the TEAM to WIN.  Everyone contributes, and they win or lose as a team.   The goal is always the playoffs and beyond, in the past, now, and in the future.   These WIN METHOD men will fight to the end.

With every setback, the door of opportunity opens for another player.   Hopefully another youngster will race through the door and seize the chance before they expected.

As WIN METHOD fans, unquestionably the smartest and most knowledgeable baseball fans in the world, we support or team, ownership, management, players, and coaches.   We don't whine and cry, and we don't criticize and blame.
We leave that to, yes you guessed it, the stat fraud losers of the world.

There is most of the season left to play and we will persevere, playing the best we can.   We will continue to bloom and grow.  The draft was wonderful and the WIN METHOD got what it wanted in several draftees.   Our number one selection will be something to look forward to.  LETS GO YANKEES.

1-1 going to the 8th. Lets go Yankees, lets get some runs.

Louie Louie was hit by a comebacker in the 4th on his left non throwing arm pretty hard. That is likely why he was taken out. At least I hope so.

Chapman on for the ninth.

Yankees lose 2-1 as Sanchez drops throw at plate where runner would be out by ten feet.

will-i-am said...

Final another one run loss 2-1 again. Down in the series 2-0. But we are as good as any team. We will come back just as we did against Cleveland.

Domenic said...

At least we don't have to win three in a row like against the Indians.

The kids are gaining experience and learning on the fly. Let them make their mistakes now and bloom and grow next season.

CC to the rescue again?

Matt Cooper said...

We got two very well pitched games, but the bats have been horrendous from top to bottom. Everyone has been swinging at garbage. Learn guys, learn.

Val Avery said...

Off day today after two very tough losses where the bats lost their way. Need to win four before losing two more. Yes we can.

Greg/Morristown,NJ said...

Odd as it may seem, we still have a better chance at this series than we had at the Indian series, and we won that one.

Steve said...

These past two games could have been won, two of the very best teams in baseball are playing their hearts out.
- The difference being the Astros executed similar plays, where the Yankees didn't.

- Relay throws from OF- Astros nailed Gardner, Altuve scored winning run on poorly aligned relay.

- Play at plate - Astros handle short hop to tag Bird, Yankees fumble short hop - allow winning run to score.

- RF fence - Headley just misses HR at fence, Correa just sneaks it over maybe.

These razor thin examples are magnified because the results have swung a possible 2-0 Yankees lead to being down 0-2. Realistically they had a great shot at a split...

No need to panic and this group is resilient, they will find a way to send the series back to Houston.

Victor Grandozi said...

I have seen a lot of baseball over many decades and I can't fathom the way today's players swing at so many pitches out of the strike zone. Far to many wild hard swings instead of seeing the ball and hitting the ball over the plate by just meeting it and driving it to where it is pitched. When you try to pull and outside pitch your at bat will not fair well. You go with it and drive it to the opposite field and you will be a hitter to reckon with.
Home plate is there for a reason. To differentiate pitches as either strikes or balls. If a batter cannot differentiate he will have problems.

Cal Fuerst said...

Steve, Victor Grandozi, Excellent observations.

Cold front coming thru tonight as CC tries to get Yanks a win. In the cold the Yankee bats need to get hot.

Randy Holt said...

Not a must win game tonight, however a really big game. Anything is possible, but coming back from down 3-0 and having to win four straight over the Astros would not be easy task.

So lets win tonight. LETS GO YANKEES.

Dave Mathews said...

Need to get back to basics tonight. The pitching has been fine and hope it stays that way. The hitting has fallen into a pit. The hitters need to adjust.

yankeeclipper said...

Warren with another scoreless inning. Yanks up 8-0 after 8.

Likely Girardi will use Betances in ninth with this big a lead. That would save all the arms for tomorrow if needed.

Betances is coming if for the ninth. Remember, this is a no pressure situation. Lets see how he does.

NJYANKEE said...

Betanaces walks first batter on 4 pitches. Betances walks second batter but does get two strikes on him. Betances out of the game. How sad. I think everything may go back to Betances embarrassing himself in his arbitration battle with the Yankees. He lost big time and still is getting overpaid.

NJYANKEE said...

Kahnle coming in. Gives up single, bases loaded no one out, top of lineup coming up.

Yanks23245 said...

Easy win last night, how sweet it would be if we won just one of the first 2-1 losses. A win today would be great. Gray steps up or crashes and burns. The ball is in his hand.

muchomachoman said...

Gray has never pitched in big game situations nor with a big game team, he may not have the intestinal fortitude to be able to perform at this high a level. That is my opinion. However Gray will be given the opportunity to prove me wrong and it would be great for the Yankees if he does. Go out and win today Sonny and maybe you will start playing down the name Gray skies. Lets go Yankees.

If we score runs like yesterday hopefully even Gray can win. The best scenario is Gray goes six shutout innings.

Ziggy Mann said...

Judge had a very nice game defensively last night, going back and coming in for catches.

Victor Bruno said...

Have to give Gray credit for last nights effort. He did go four scoreless innings and if the Yankees had scored first and were up 6-0 in the fifth maybe Girardi would have left Gray in longer for the fifth inning after the first two batters reached base. ???? Robertson just got beat by a good hitter and that can happen to any pitcher. But we won, that is the only thing that counts.

Andrew J said...

Every time I watch Gray pitch I feel he is going to implode at any time. He has some movement of pitches but he doesn't seem to go long into games, throws many pitches, and is not in charge. Lets see how he progresses into next season. As a fifth starter he would likely be fine. But he is nowhere at top of the line starter.

Carl Hooks said...

Tanaka starts today. Hope he does again what he has done the last few starts. If the hitters get to Keuchel the worm may turn in our favor. What this Yankee team has accomplished this season was seen only by WIN METHOD the greatest baseball talent evaluator in the world.

Dave Mathews said...

If we can only score early against the Astros today and put big pressure on them to come back.

Jack Gordon said...

Like anything, things tend to even out to some degree. Not scoring a run off Keuchel is due to change for some runs to eventually be scored off him. Maybe today?

Lou Lis said...

Keuchel and Verlander both won in this series, if we beat even one of them in the next two games this series goes to a seventh game.
