WIN METHOD 2017 SEASON - INJURIES - PERSEVERANCE - BLOOM AND GROW

Hello WIN METHOD  fans.  This season, as so many youngsters bloom and grow, has had far too many downs.  To be contending for the division title with all the injuries our players and team have sustained is remarkable and displays the character of our players and team.  We will overcome no matter what is thrown at us.

The 2017 disabled list (DL) has included Gary Sanchez, Greg Bird, Tyler Austin, Starlin Castro, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, Jacoby Ellsbury, Matt Holiday, CC Sabathia, Adam Warren, Aroldis Chapman, James Kaprielian, Gleyber Torres, Clarke Schmidt, and Dustin Fowler.   Several of these players have had their season ended.   For a few of these men recovery will take many months and they can only look forward to 2018.   The others can still contribute this season.  I just want to give a special shout out to Dustin Fowler whose injury may be the most devastating.   I have had a special liking for Dustin for a long time now and I will pray for his healing, full recovery, and return to the YANKEES in 2018.

It is truly hard to believe, that with all the injuries, this team is still right in the thick of the pennant race.   The character of these WIN METHOD players is their crutch, the attitude they display when challenged with adversity is magnificent.
They play with one goal, for the TEAM to WIN.  Everyone contributes, and they win or lose as a team.   The goal is always the playoffs and beyond, in the past, now, and in the future.   These WIN METHOD men will fight to the end.

With every setback, the door of opportunity opens for another player.   Hopefully another youngster will race through the door and seize the chance before they expected.

As WIN METHOD fans, unquestionably the smartest and most knowledgeable baseball fans in the world, we support or team, ownership, management, players, and coaches.   We don't whine and cry, and we don't criticize and blame.
We leave that to, yes you guessed it, the stat fraud losers of the world.

There is most of the season left to play and we will persevere, playing the best we can.   We will continue to bloom and grow.  The draft was wonderful and the WIN METHOD got what it wanted in several draftees.   Our number one selection will be something to look forward to.  LETS GO YANKEES.

I wonder if any other team in the history of baseball has had these many injuries to so many players in one season.

Nice blog post WIN METHOD. You sure have built a juggernaut of a farm system. Hope everything blooms and grows and comes to fruition.

The Yankees can't keep everyone on the 25 man roster. Eventually Castro, Holiday, etc will get back.

Deb F said...

Todd, true, but all our talent gives management options plus it fosters competition for playing time, thus hopefully driving performance. Performance when it counts is needed before individual stats is the key. Performance when it counts creates wins.

Pitchers usually take more time yo bloom and grow. Montgomery has reached the top level, bot he is still learning and developing. So far so good. Earn a win tonight Monty.

Another first timer for Yankees today. In right field Clint Frazier as Judge gets day off.

I'd almost rather see Judge at 1b even thou he has never played there. Still, he does need day off once in a while.

After Chad Green pitches the 6th and 7th scoreless innings. In comes Betances for the 8th and stinks beyond belief. Chapman now in with men on 1st and 3rd and 2 outs. Betances has already allowed 2 runs to cut the Yankee lead to 6-5 and both runners are his responsibility.

jimbo said...

Chapman gives up a double and Yanks down 7-6. Betances and Chapman have killed the Yankees so far this season. The a K for 3rd out after the damage done.

jimbo said...

Yankees go down 1.2.3 by Houston closer. Another dreadful one run heartbreaking loss.

will-i-am said...

Final, devastating loss 7-6.

Felix Lopez said...

It is hard to believe that Betances and Chapman can choke so often. Betances still can't hold a runner and a runner in a wheel chair can steal a base every time on him.

Mark Wagoner said...

I was hoping the losing this way was over. Losing late inning games because of the bullpen is killing us.

Steve said...

Ten one run losses in June. Take two meaningless runs from several of our blowout wins and give them to just five of those ten losses and look where we would be in the standings. Meaningless runs defines the meaningless stat frauds. Wins are what counts, not how many runs you win by or your meaningless run differential. Come on you clueless stat frauds and debate here where you won't get banned instead of banning posters who know baseball at your clueless feckless forums.

Tom Loughlin said...

Yanks still down 5-3 after 8....Had a man on second with no outs twice this game and never scored them. Too many times when you play for the big inning you get burnt. Scoring one run at a time can lead to a bigger inning or keep you in the game. One run is usually better than 0 runs.

will-i-am said...

Final 5-3 loss and Yanks go 1 for 16 with runners in scoring position. The ultimate fail when it matters most. A sure way to make for losses.

White Knight said...

I fully expect a rousing run after the All Star game.

Lori Kelly said...

I think Judge swings and misses at far too many pitches.

jimbo said...

Lori, I agree. I would he could do better if he didn't swing so hard and just hit the outside pitches to right. When the pitchers come in on him, then pull the ball. It doesn't make any difference how hard you hit the ball nor how many home runs you hit. It is far more important to any and all players to be able to produce the most often when it matters most to the team and win games. Yes, I know the stat frauds are unable and or unwilling to understand this concept.

bigbadwolf said...

Mid season break. The Yankees have four days to pull their act together if they want to win their division and or make the playoffs this season.

Tonight is the farce called the HR Derby. The stat frauds will all be agog measuring how far, velocity, launch angle, how many balls are hit for home runs in a meaningless contest. None of which tells how much any of the participants help their team to win games by producing when it counts.

Hobbs said...

All things considered we're really not all that bad off. Only two games behind Bos in the loss column for 1st. Considering all of our injuries which have decimated the lineup, and some of our horrible pitching, we are not in a bad position at all.

If what we've just seen is the Yankees without several key players, then I think we have a bright immediate future when we include Hicks, Castro and Holiday. Those are three very important bats.

And now that Choi is an instant replacement for Carter, I like our chances.

Pineda season done and also next season. Needs Tommy John surgery. That explains much. Greg Birds issue found, has been diagnosed with os trigonum inflammation. Possible surgery likely. That explains his problem. The os trigonum is an extra needless bone behind the ankle.

Tough luck for Pineda and the Yankees. Just hope the Yankees do not go after the dog Quintana. Pineda with a bad arm was 8-4 this season while the dog Quintana is 4-8 and has been a sub .500 pitcher for his career while being lauded by the stat frauds.

If the Yanks don't make the playoffs this season I can't be down after all the injuries this team has had. Pineda out does give a rookie or two and opportunity.

If Girardi can manage this team into the playoffs this season, it would be a giant feather in his cap and possibly rank him as the best manager in baseball.

By chance will Chance Adams get a shot? or maybe someone else that isn't hurt?

Oh well, we lose our best pitcher, 4 games over .500 at 8-4 and the team as a whole is only 4 games over .500 at 45-41. Do we throw in the towel, heck no, we leave that to the stat frauds.

The Yankee season reminded me of this old Nat King Cole song called SMILE.

Smile tho' your heart is aching
Smile even tho' it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by

If you smile
Thro' your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shin-ing thro' for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide ev-'ry trace of sadness
Altho' a tear may be ever so near

That's the time
You must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worth-while

If you just smile
