WIN METHOD 2017 ----- BLOOM AND GROW

Yes WIN METHOD fans, you have spoken, therefore the title of this blog post.  BLOOM AND GROW.  As 2016 nears its end, and the baseball winter meetings are held where deals are talked about and some consummated, and as the 2016 year concludes with the Christmas holidays, and the new 2017 year arrives and it will be a season for the New York YANKEES to BLOOM AND GROW.

After a couple of recent seasons of not making the playoffs, getting older as a team, disappointing the fans, dropping attendance, and overall down years, the YANKEES look like they may be going full bore at getting younger with many of their WIN METHOD selected youngsters being given a real chance to make the major league roster, make the team younger, make the team a contender more consistently and winning the World Series again.  Time for the farm to bloom and grow.

The list of YANKEE prospects is very promising.  Likely not all will make the major leagues, some may be traded away for a piece the YANKEE decision makers feel they need for a certain position.  The best part however is they will all get the chance to bloom and grow and some will make a major impact on the YANKEE team this 2017 season as Gary Sanchez has done already in the last seven weeks of the 2016 season, apparently earning the starting catcher job for the 2017 season.  Look for these names in 2017 and beyond, outfielders Clint Frazier,  Aaron Judge, Blake Rutherford, Dustin Fowler, Billy McKinney, Mason Williams, Jake Cave, Trey Amburgery, and Leonardo Molina. Infielders Gleyber Torres, Jorge Mateo, Miguel Andujar, Wilkerman Garcia, Tyler Wade, Hoy Jun Park, and Kyle Holder.  Catchers Luis Torrens, and Donny Sands.  Pitchers Justus Sheffield, Domingo Acevedo, James Kaprielian, Albert Abreu, Dillon Tate, Chance Adams, Ian Clarkin, Drew Finley, Jordan Montgomery, Chad Green, Dietrich Enns, and Freicer Perez.

Do not forget, Greg Bird returning in 2017 after missing 2016 with major shoulder surgery, other youngsters who have been placed on the 40 man roster or have seen some major league experience, Johnny Barbato, Richard Bleier, Giovanny Gallegos, Domingo German, Nick Goody, Ben Heller, Ronald Herrera, Johnaton Holder, Brian Mitchell, Yefrey Ramirez, Luis Severino, Kyle Higashioka, Rob Refsnyder and Tyler Austin.  There are so many with so much potential.

Some of these guys will become big names, some lesser names but yet accomplished major leaguers, some roll players that help make the team as best it can be,and some dealt away.  Bloom and grow. We wish them all healthy and fruitful careers wherever their career takes them.

Also, look forward to a very special day in 2017.  Mark your calendars,  Sunday, mothers day, May 14th against the Houston Astros, the YANKEES will retire the greatest ever WIN METHOD players number 2 Derek Jeter.  May the YANKEES be so blesses that as the youngsters bloom and grow we have another in the mold of Derek Jeter, the best and greatest major league baseball player in the past three decades.

Never forget that wins and winning always defines the best players and teams in the real world while individual stats and make believe made up formulas created by the foolish stat frauds are only for their fantasy games and fantasy world.

LETS GO YANKEES!  BLOOM AND GROW

Steve, Jeter even though being the best baseball player in the world during his 20 seasons in MLB, he is not infallible in every decision he makes. And playing in the wbc is a bad decision by every MLB player who plays in their garbage competition. There is no question any player can get hurt at any time in any game, but in this case Didi was playing out of position.

Gil McKenzie said...

If Didi is out Wade is the left handed bat that could fill the bill. Then use Torreyes for Wade against a left handed pitcher.

Tony Manchu said...

I have never seen one pitch of any game ever from the world baseball classic. I don't like teams made up from different teams and breaking their routines to fit the desires of another manager to try to win meaningless games that they try ti make into something it is not nor ever will be. If I was Yankee management I would ban any of my players from participating in the sham games.

This is me expressing my own opinion. I wouldn't trade Greg Bird for Trout straight up. Bird is going to help his team to the playoffs this season and likely Trout will not. Wins and winning, are more important than individual stats.

March 21, 2017 at 12:43 PM """""

I agree, I think Bird will blow away much of baseball this season. He is younger than Trout and makes tons less money.

Benny Pake said...

yankeeclipper21, Heck, Sanchez may be better than Trout. Particularly defensively as a catcher.

Augie DeFonce said...

Anyone thinking of either Bird or Sanchez, much less a package of four to six players of our prime young WIN METHOD talent is a fool.

White Knight said...

I know he is still young and not major league tested, but it is very possible that Gleyber Torres could become better and more valuable than Trout. And Torres is far younger with a long career ahead of him. I would do right now, Headley, Refsynder, Hicks, Romine, and Enns for Trout.

Quay Ho said...

Montgomery gets the start tomorrow vs. the Rays.
Also, Tanaka at 18 2/3 scoreless innings this spring. We need those innings when it counts.

Stan the Man said...

I like Severino, but I hope that Girardi just doesn't hand him a rotation spot, he needs to earn it, and right now he is being out performed by a couple of guys.

AAA said...

This 2017 Yankee team is good.

Steven said...

White Knight
Why would the Angels even consider that? That isn't realistic.

White Knight said...

Steven, I don't care if the Angels would consider it. Just as I would never consider trading either, Bird, Sanchez, Torres, and several others players for Trout.
Several posters seem to feel the same as I do, they wouldn't trade several of our blue chippers even up for an over-hyped player who doesn't lead his team to anything.

Steven said...

Oh ok well if you don't care.

Steve said...

Steven, I think you missed the gist of White Knights post. WIN METHOD fans are smart and stat frauds are stupid. WIN METHOD fans wouldn't trade for Trout by trading away several very likely better players to be. All Trout has accomplished is solid individual stats and has not shown the ability to help his team to the playoffs. And you know wins and winning is what determines who is best.

Steven said...

Def smart, only smart people constantly talk about how smart they are constantly.

Deb F said...

Steven,,,, It have not offered your opinion on trading for Trout. What would you give up for Trout? Do you think he will help the Yankees more than our many top tier future WIN METHOD stars who will lead the Yankees to the playoffs often?

Norm Jackson said...

Steven...True, smart people know they are smart, stupid people only think they are smart.
My being smart allows me to wisely state I would not trade our future for Trout.

Steven said...

Well I think to say trout isn't a great player is laughable, no one in baseball would agree with you. No one.

I think he would certainly help the team, but as the Yankees have many areas of need I wouldn't blindly trade all of the prospects. Would I trade bird for trout straight up? In a second. a CF who can do what Trout do is much harder to find than a first baseman that can do what bird does, and I like bird a great deal.

The whole discussion is a point to the inherent flaw of your method. You're seemingly blaming trout entirely for the Angels lack of success, but at the same time acknowledging wins are a team statistic. How else are we to evalauate a team other than by evaluating each of its components separately? I'm afraid looking at wins does not allow you to do so.

Steven said...

For the record, I'm not advocating going after trout because I think the costs would be too high and I don't consider OF a big area of need at the moment. Having said that some of the posts made in here about it laughable and absurd, and make me question whether some of you watch baseball.

Steve said...

Steven, Yet again you miss the entire gist of what the WIN METHOD is. You claim what we know is true and then try to say what we believe is false.
1. Teams with all players contributing that win the most are the best.
2. Any player with great individual stats does not make him a great player. Only winning can make a player great. That is what stat frauds cannot understand.
3. What any player accomplishes or does not accomplish for one team may or may not transfer to another team.
4. Any players true greatness is in his ability to help his team to playoffs, pennants, World Series rings. Players do this by producing when it matters most to win games and not how many times they produce and not win.

All through this blog from the time it started these points have constantly been pointed out. Norm Jackson stated above smart people know they are smart and can easily understand the points being made. On the other hand stupid people who think they are smart cannot understand or refuse to accept these points.

Phil Jenkins said...

Steve, you may be beating a dead horse. Norm Jackson hit the nail on the head, a stupid person who thinks they are smart is near impossible to convince.

will-i-am said...

Steve, you said you would trade Bird for Trout in a heartbeat. I wonder if you will still say that after this season when Bird in his first full season helps lead the Yankees to the playoffs and Trout helps lead the Angels to another losing season. Some people just don't get it.

Steven said...

I just don't evaluate players the same way as you do.

The fact that you think your opinion on baseball is a sign of your intelligence is telling :).

Warren Hammond said...

I, we, us, WIN METHOD fans are intelligent because we look at wins and winning at determining the best. That is common sense. A horse that loses a race is not the best. I think you may be confusing talent and success. All MLB baseball players have great talent. And we may very well agree that the players who attain the greatest individual stats have the most talent. But having the most talent doesn't make a player or the team the best unless they win. The winners are the best. Period. The players over their career who help their team to the playoffs and beyond the most are the best. That is not hard to understand for anyone with intelligence. What defines stat frauds is their lack of intelligence to understand this.

Quay Ho said...

Oh my God. English is my second language and I understand the WIN METHOD and what determines the best.

Tom Loughlin said...

What confounds me is someone not being able to see the difference between having great talent and being the best. You can have all the talent in the world and not be the best.

Jeb Hill said...

It is quite possible the Yankees give a rotation spot to Severino and likely Mitchell. Montgomery goes to AAA. Severino and/or Mitchell fail and Montgomery called up to take either ones rotation spot. The pitcher who is replaced either goes to AAA or the bullpen and someone in the bullpen is dropped.
In essence what I am saying is it may not make any difference right now how Montgomery pitches in his last two outings this spring. Then again, I could be completely wrong.

Steven said...

I understand win method, I just don't agree fully with it. My point has nothing to do with labeling who's the best, it's about who I think would help this team win the most games. I don't think the angels not winning means that Mike Trout wouldn't help this team win.

seems like you are the ones who don't understand what I'm saying.

Warren Hammond said...

Steven, your response is fair, because you are always entitled to your opinion. I agree Trout may help the Yankees win, maybe WIN METHOD knows that. But there is no way on earth Trout will help the Yankees win more the Sanchez, Bird, and very likely a couple other youngsters. There is no way Trout is worth several of out youngsters much less one for one. Also, do not forget that there is a difference between talent and success.

Steven said...

Warren
"But there is no way on earth Trout will help the Yankees win more the Sanchez, Bird, and very likely a couple other youngsters."

Read my earlier posts, I said this very same thing. People on here get up in arms over very little.

Warren Hammond said...

Steven, You never said any such thing in your posts. You did say however "" Would I trade bird for trout straight up? In a second. ""

Steven said...

Please refer to these previous posts from me

"I think he would certainly help the team, but as the Yankees have many areas of need I wouldn't blindly trade all of the prospects."

"For the record, I'm not advocating going after trout because I think the costs would be too high and I don't consider OF a big area of need at the moment."

I stand by the Bird for Trout straight up requests, and I believe every GM in baseball would do the deal in a second.

Warren Hammond said...

Steven, you say you wouldn't trade all the prospects, does that mean you would trade some of them for him?
Where do you stand on the Bird for Trout request? I think Bird will be a better player than Trout this season and help the Yankees to the playoffs. I would not even consider Trout for Bird.

Better defined how? Based on their respective teams W-L records at the end of season?

If so- that's the flaw of your system, you're using team statistic for two individuals. By your method a bad team can't have a good player, and a good team can't have a bad player. I happen to think trout is a good player on a bad team. Simple as that. You don't have to agree.

Eddie OConnor said...

Steven, your response is that of someone who loves individual stats and not winning. Your response is that of someone who rather stick with a player who has shown he cannot help lead his team to the playoffs instead of going with a younger WIN METHOD player who may very well lead his team to the playoffs very often over his career.
You take Trout and live without air, I take Bird and fly high and then higher. Remember this post and we will see what the season brings.

Alex Antonius said...

One week until opening of the 2017 season.

Steven said...

Again using a team statistic to compare two individuals is inherently flawed.

Are you suggesting if we traded Trout for Bird the Yankees would no longer be a playoff team but the Angels would vault into the playoffs?

Gus Papa said...

Steven, why are you fixated on a meaningless individual award given to a player who can't help lead his team to success. Every once in awhile they get it right and the award goes to a player who does lead his team to success, but it should never go to a player who doesn't help his team. It is just like the garbage academy awards. They give the best picture award to Moonlight who people don't like and don't pay to see while Rogue One who people overwhelming love and pay boatloads of money see is not even nominated for best picture. The monetary difference between Moonlight $27,612,470 and Rogue One $530,997,499 is mind blowing. Yet, the loser gets the award. Stat frauds earn their name and rightfully so.
I guess to conclude I would have to say only a loser would want a proven loser than rather go with a very possible gem in the making.

NJYANKEE said...

Team statistics are pretty much meaningless also, except for wins. Winning 12-0 has the exact same value as winning 4-3 except to stat frauds. The players on the teams that produce the most when it counts and matters are the players and teams that go to the playoffs the most. Wins are the only statistic that matters and counts.

Steven said...

Wow you must've really like Rogue One huh?

I just think the Yankees would win more if they made that trade. Simple as that. Using team W-L records you're rating Trout the same as the other 24 Angels players. Doesn't make any sense.

Yankeeforever said...

The frauds are so enamored with statistics. At the all star game break when they have the home run derby every home run is raved about by how far it went, 460 feet, 420 feet, etc. Who cares, the 460 foot HR has the same value as the 330 foot HR. What fools the stat frauds be.

Gus Papa said...

Steven, you did not address the gist of my post. Most of the country liked the Rogue One, and most of the country disliked Moonlight. The loser won the award. Trout may be the best player on the Angels, his stats tell us that, but he has proven so far not to be the type of player who helps lead his team to the playoffs.

Steven said...

Gus
Not that this is relevant, at all, but some movies are given large budgets with the main purpose to entertain and make lots of movies. We call these, blockbusters. Other movies are made with smaller budgets with the purpose of delivering a message or telling a particular story. Moonlight made 28 million with a budget of 1.5. Rogue One had a budget of $200 million. You're comparing apples to oranges here.

Shockingly a futuristic war movie has more of a mass appeal than a movie about an African homosexual. Doesn't mean it's by default a better movie.

Steven, you do have screwed up views. What you are saying a player paid 1 million can't be better than a player paid 20 million. That is utter Barbara Striesand. Same as your movie comparison. There have been many so called 'high budget blockbusters' that have failed miserably, simply because they were no good. Moonlight stank and Rogue One was brilliant. Thus my belief, Trout has failed, Bird will excel. Lets play the season and see.

The worse the movie, less people pay to see it, the less it takes in. Just common sense, like the WIN METHOD. Now Steven, if you think everyone is stupid and would rather see a good movie, than rather see garbage like Moonlight, that is your choice, albeit another wrong choice.

bigbadwolf said...

Off day tomorrow WIN METHOD fans.

Steven said...

Gus
Either way, you have no way of knowing if that trade would ultimately benefit or hurt the team. You have your opinion, but it is t fact.

Dave
Like I said, if you want to rate your movies based on commercial success go right ahead. I'd rather watch them myself and form my own opinion. How out of touch with the world are you though to just assume all good movies make a ton of money and all bad movies don't? There are good movies that aren't commercial successes and bad movies that perform well at the box office. It's a beautiful life and shawshank redemptions were not commercial successes, but (in my opinion) were pretty good films all the same.

Dave Matthews said...

Steven, I have no problem at all with people liking whatever they wish. However, to give an award as the best picture of year to a movie that a vast majority of people (not all people) don't want to pay their money to see says much about the movie. On the other hand, a movie that almost all people want to see and spend their money to do so (not all people) has to say something special about that movie and maybe the foolish powers that choose which movies are chosen for the best award consideration should maybe think that what they are doing is not in the best interest of the public who strongly reject the award givers choices. By all means spend your money on what movies you wish and enjoy, and it may be great in your view, but don't tell me it is great when the vast majority reject it.

Dane Ostroff said...

Maybe we won't find it who the 5th starter is until we need the 5th starter to start.

Steven said...

Dave Mathews
Like I said, I can call it great since I watched it and thought it was great. If you want to determine how it was based on how many people saw it, and don't want to form your own opinion, fine by me. Don't really see how I'm wrong for enjoying it.

Dave Matthews said...

Steven, never said you were wrong for enjoying it and even thinking it was a great movie. That is your choice and I can happily survive you thinking it great. I'll still stick with the vast majority that didn't want to spend their money to see it. That is my choice.

Tanaka, Montgomery and Severino get their final spring starts Tuesady, Wednesday and Thursday.

Jill Byrnes said...

To hopefully close out the discussions. No award given by a select few, such as the best movie, most value player, best of anything at the movies, or best of anything in baseball is meaningful except by the frauds who decide who gets the award and those who foolishly accept the decision of the frauds.
In baseball the best is always decided on the field by player performance when it matters.
At the movies the best is always decided by the vast throngs of people who spend their dollars to attend the movies.

The Yankees will be making their final cuts this week. I would think Didi starts on the DL. Austin and Higashioka go to AAA. And two pitchers go to AAA, Green & either Heller of Holder?

AAA said...

I hope Wade makes the 25 man roster. I like he is a lefty bat and I love his defense and speed.

Yankeedoodledandy said...

AAA....I agree. Wade hits the ball everywhere also. I can see him with a big hit or two when it matters.

Wilsonsway said...

Over the winter almost everyone here asked for the Yankees not to trade away any of our blue chippers for some dolt another team wanted to dump. So far so good. A good omen to start the season.

Xavier Young said...

Roll with our own youngsters. Bloom and grow.

Brian Cowley said...

Blake Rutherford is starting the season for the Yankee, Charleston, SC team.

Kyle Jakes said...

Tanaka with final tuneup tomorrow.

Donald Blazina said...

Wan't Rutherford WIN METHODs number one pick that he was so high on and felt would be a very special player?

Steve said...

Donald Blazina, Yes, WIN METHOD has said he felt that Rutherford would be better than the highly touted Frazier. Jeter like was the comparison.

bigbadwolf said...

Just for fun, and anyone can respond. What ONE Yankee youngster would trade if you had to?

Ziggy Mann said...

Mateo, if Gleyber Torres is the future shortstop Mateo may have to change position.

Artie S said...

Frazier, he is a snowflake.

Billy Tedder said...

I think it would depend on the trading partners needs. Mateo or Frazier I have no problem with since we may have just as good or better already and/or in the pipeline.

yankeeclipper21 said...

I don't know if I would want to give anyone away. We appear to have developing talent at every position. As our veterans leave we have the pieces from within to replace them. So, I would keep the kids, you never have as much talent as you may need.

Cal Fuerst said...

Dietrich Enns, he should be in his prime about now. Someone may need a winning left handed starter.

Xavier Young said...

Frazier is my choice to go.

Dane Ostroff said...

I agree with Artie S.
Frazier is a snowflake and should go.

Eddie OConnor said...

Mateo.

Trade Frazier and/or Mateo to a team for their number on 1 draft choices for the next three years.

candycane said...

Tanaka tonight, single, double to the first two hitters and allows first run of the spring. Was hoping he would gives up some runs and not start the real season with 20+ scoreless innings.

candycane said...

Bird and Sanchez with errors, Tigers score 2 as Tanaka pitches out of a big inning.

Teena/Bronx said...

Trade no one.

Stan the Man said...

Tanaka goes five good innings allowing just the two first inning runs.

Betances crashes and burns in 6th allowing 2 runs on 3 hits.

AAA said...

Judge solo HR in 7th.

Stan the Man said...

Friere in for the 8th and gives up another HR, a 2 run job..he needs to be let go before the night is over.

candycane said...

Yanks go down 6-3. So far so good. We need a loss or two this week.

Nick Polito said...

Along with Friere I would let Chris Carter go also. Because anytime you would have used Carter you could use someone like Tyler Austin. I would think Austin should be close to ready about now. Likely just needs at bats.

NJYANKEE said...

Montgomery makes start today against the Blue Jays. Big stage for Monty, and he could cement a rotation spot.

All the roster decisions any day now. 25 by Sunday.

Remember WIN METHOD fans, as the Yankee hierarchy decides who will be sent to the minors and who will be on the roster to start the season, they are deciding based on all the information and knowledge they have, of which none of us have. They do know what they are doing, we only guess. What we don't know is more than many think.

How do you explain and over .700 winning baseball spring training? Winning when veterans play, winning when projected starters play, winning when top youngsters play, winning when next in line youngsters play, winning when next to next in line youngsters play, winning when projected rotation starter play, winning when hopefuls for rotation spots play, winning when relievers play, winning when closers play, winning when single 'A' players play, and all producing when it counts to create wins as a team. The WIN METHOD.
