WIN METHOD - JETER 3000 and more

In the next few days Derek Jeter, the greatest major league baseball player over the past twenty years will reach 3000 hits. Jeter will be the twenty-eighth player in the history of baseball to achieve this feat. Jeter will be the first YANKEE to  reach the 3000 hit plateau. Jeter will be the only shortstop who played his entire career at the shortstop position to achieve this individual milestone. When you consider the names of the great YANKEES of the past, and the miniscule amount of players on all teams who have reached 3000 hits, Jeter reaching 3000 hits is a major accomplishment. Jeter is the consummate professional, no ego, plays for the team to WIN not individual statistics. One of the greatest defensive shortstops in the history of baseball. Second to none on popups, turning the double play, coming in on slow rollers, and vast range in all directions. Jeter is the poster boy for MLB. Never an iota of bad publicity, no steroids, charming, and charismatic. No player in the past twenty years has led his team to as many playoffs, pennants and World Series titles. Those are the true measure of greatness and great players, NEVER meaningless individual stats. WINS and WINNING determine the greatest of the great players of the game. Jeter will be the first to tell anyone who really knows baseball, and is intelligent enough to listen, just that. Jeter plays for the team to win and no player over the past twenty years had done that more or better. Congratulations to Jeter for his individual accomplishment, but more and bigger congratulations for helping his team WIN.

It appears steroids are catching up to Alex Rodriquez. His body seems to breaking down with more and more nagging injuries of every kind. Sad to say, the YANKEES may have made Rodriquez the most overpaid player in the history of baseball.

The second half of the season should be fun in the American League East with three of the best teams in baseball in the same division fighting for the pennant. The return of Jeter, Colon, and Hughes could be the edge the YANKEES need to win it all. Then there is always the possibility making a deal to fill any perceived needs.

WIN METHOD special draft selection Adam Warren started the season at AAA Scranton moving very quickly through the minor league system. Warren is 6-3 so far this season while showing some flashes of brilliance at time. Warren will reach the major league level soon one way or another.

To reiterate to all fans of the WIN METHOD and anyone else who reads this blog. WINS and WINNING determines the greatest players in the game. Individual personal stats do not make a player great, only WINS and WINNING can make a player one of the greatest of all time. The stat geeks when asked why their individual stat player doesn't help his team win, will always respond..it's his team mates fault, if he played somewhere else he would win. In this day and age of baseball any player can go anywhere he wants, IF a team would have him.

A win tonight if the game is played could be of up most importance, if Saturdays and Sundays games are rained out.

Vinnie Ferrero said...

The sux have us by two games in the win column but we are even in the loss column. Just keep winning.

Zhaire said...

Lets go AJ. You just can't keep losing and hurting the team before you have to pay the piper.

Carl Hooks said...

AJ doesn't start winning, he may find himself the odd man out.

Quay Hoy said...

AJ has to throw a good game one of these days. Maybe tonight?

Gus Papa said...

If we hit like we did yesterday, this series should be easy. IF!

Teena/Bronx said...

It's going to rain this weekend in NY. LOL

Sharon/NC said...

The residents down here may be catching a break. Irenes intensity appears to be backing off a bit. The Yankee intensity needs to be to keep winning. Maybe AJ can try that novel idea.

Jorge Hernandez said...

Put up or shut up AJ.

Linda Rice said...

AJ allows six runs in the second inning. Oh my, oh my. A train wreck.

Stan the Man said...

AJ has crashed and burned. But is he dead yet? Allows nine runs to the O's in five innings.

Linda Pardo said...

Where are all the comments, haven't seen any posts for about a week. What's going on?

Deb F said...

I am looking forward to Jeter having a very good 2012 season and leading the Yankees to teh final goal.

Teena/Bronx said...

Jeter continues to be the best player in MLB and has shut up the naysayers. Will he continue on to 4000?

Carl Hooks said...

6/15/12 Yankees at Nationals. Seventh inning, Yanks up 2-1, bases loaded, one out, Jeter delivers a game breaking single scoring two runs in the clutch, when it counts. Still the best in the game.

Deb F said...

Jeter is still amazing. Two clutch two out hits for 3 RBIs last night to earn the win for Sabathia and the Yankees.

EricClaus said...

It is hard to believe I am living in the era of one of the greatest players in the history of baseball. Jeter is the best in the world over the fpast 20 years.

bigbadwolf said...

Derek Jeter has now moved into the top ten MLB players in hits over his career. Jeter has been the greatest MLB to play over the past twenty years.

William Mensom said...

Jeter 38 years od, brilliant defense at shortstop, second to no one, and leading MLB in hits. The greatest player of his generation.

Lee Askew said...

To lead the major leagues in hits is fantastic. to do it at 38 years of age is being the great of the great.

Tom Loughlin said...

Deb F.. your comment from March was right on and what you were looking for has happened. Good call.

William Mensom said...

We must try to prevail yet another obstacle thrown at us. Admittedly this obstacle of Jeter being down, may very well be insurmountable, but we must try. Do the other players have it down inside them to step up their game to new levels yet before unseen?

Deb F said...

Best wishes on your surgery and recovery Jeets. You went down making a diving stop of a ball destined for centerfield. You went down doing what you do best, playing the best defensive shortstop in baseball.

Eugene Rico said...

Happy New Year Derek. Get well and be ready for 2013 to lead the Yankees to another winning season.

Cory said...

Jetes says he will be ready to open the season at short. You know he will come hell or high water.

Teena/Bronx said...

Jeter to start at short tonight. first game back since October broken ankle. Will be 100% to start season.

Cory said...

Jeter will miss first few games of 2013, but he will be a force to be reckoned with in the 2013 season.

Tom Loughlin said...

Now the win streak is on Hughes.

Deb F said...

Derek Jeter the best shortstopin baseball, offensive and defensively suffers a small break in his healing left ankle and is now projected out until after the All Star game.

Deb F said...

Unless Jeter is secretly someone other than the man we've watched since the 1990's, there is nothing he could do that would ever destroy his legacy. He's already a baseball immortal

Erica Johnston said...

Come back strong Derek, I can't wait.

matterhorn said...

Get us the win Amdy. One more chance at the playoffs and then retire.

Sal Mineo said...

Jeter is a baseball immortal who has been the best MLB over the past 20 years.

2014 will be Derek Jeters final season as an active MLB player for the New York Yankees. Jeter who has been the greatest baseball player in MLB over the past 29 years of his career and who will be a first ballot HOFer will be missed. Jeters character, integrity and ability along with his brilliant over the top defense has led the Yankees to the best W/L record, more playoffs, more pennants, and more World Series wins than any other team in baseball. A true living legend.

jimbo said...

Jeter in his last season is being greeted with great love and admiration by the fans in every stadium.

sid greenberg,nyc said...

how about Jeters fake out double play without touching the ball the other night. The best defensive shortstop in baseball for the past 20 years.

White Knight said...

The other night Derek Jeter reached another magnificent milestone. Jeter has had multiple hit games for the 1000th time and still counting. That is more than six full 162 game seasons.

Teena/Bronx said...

What a grand celebration for Jeter at the 2014 All Star game. Standing 10 minute ovation by the fans, hugs and admiration from his peers, plus two hits in two at bats. Jeter always rises to the occasion and is the epitome of greatness.

Greatness = Jeter.

White Knight said...

Jeter has now passed Carl Yastrzemski on the all time hit list.

Deb F said...

In his final season Jeter is putting together one very nice year for a 40 year old playing on the biggest stage and under the brightest lights. Plus, the stat frauds are infuriated and blaming everyone and anyone that Jeter is still playing shortstop every day and doing it brilliantly as always.

Raul Vasquez said...

Jeter now alone in 6th place on all time hit list and alone as the greatest shortstop of all time.

Carly Jones said...

Derek Jeter is my hero.

Carl Hooks said...

Jeter is putting out one heck of a final season offensively and defensivly at 40 years of age.

White Knight said...

Jeters career being celebrated and honored at the stadium this Sunday September 7th. I'll be there. The kings career is coming to closure.

Erica Johnston said...

Jeter still playing some fantastic baseball at 40.

YES, Derek Jeter was the best player in MLB for the past 20 years.

Ichiro was a fascinating player to cover since coming to the Yankees in a mid-2012 trade, and his MLB Network interview will air Monday night at 8 p.m. in an episode of Studio 42 with Bob Costas. Among the topics discussed: Derek Jeter’s final game in the Bronx.

“One thing that I will never forget about Jeter that will be with me for the rest of my life is the scene of his last game at Yankee Stadium,” Ichiro said. “To see him take the field in the first inning, go to his position — and I was in right field — it was just such an emotional game, such an emotional moment, and I felt, in right field, watching him, experiencing it, I felt like it was going to bring me to tears. And I knew that it had to be so emotional for him, but you never felt that. I never saw the tears, I never sensed that it was as emotional as it was for him as I knew it had to be. And I just wondered, ‘How does he have the ability to control his emotions to that degree? How does he have the ability to not show that side of him to all of these people?’ That’s something that will be with me for the rest of my life.”

Teena/Bronx said...

How soon will it hit Yankee fans that there is no Jeter this season.

Teena/Bronx said...

Man o h man.do I miss Jeter.

White Knight said...

No question Gregorius can't cover the ground Jeter could and he even has trouble with routine plays that Jeter could make blind folded. Jeter was the best shortstop in baseball defensively.

White Knight said...

We are in our second year of Didi Gregorius as Yankee shortstop. The poor guy who had to replace Jeter. First of all, no one can replace Jeter. As competent as Didi is he is not nearly as good a defensive player as Jeter. Didi has less range, close to as good an arm, but not Jeters and Didi just doesn't make the plays Jeter did, and misplays balls that Jeter may have misplayed one out of a couple hundred. Didi is not even comparable offensively as Jeter, but in Didi's defense very few players are comparable to Jeter offensively in the ability to perform when it matters and help your team win. Add in baseball acumen and Jeter was one of a kind. In the right place at the right time, and making plays no other shortstop could dream of.

Teena/Bronx said...

The Yankees will be retiring Jeters number in May this season. Get your tickets early and celebrate the greatest baseball player over the past several decades and one of the greatest all time.

yankeeclipper said...

Derek Jeter is still ranked as the best player in baseball who has played the game during the past two and one half decades. More most seasons, more pennants, and more World Series rings than any other player. A great captain, a great leader, an astounding clutch performer both offensively and defensively, and the face of Major League Baseball.

Great post but I was wanting to know if you could write a
litte more on this subject? I'd be very grateful if you could elaborate a little bit further.
Appreciate it!

It has been 25 years since Derek Jeter stepped on to the scene of MLB in 1995. Over these past 25 years and counting there has not been a better baseball player in the game. Jeter has helped the Yankee team to more wins, more playoffs, more pennants, and more World Series than any other player in the game.
