WIN METHOD / ANDY PETTITTE
Recently WIN METHOD fans were told Andy Pettitte would pitch this year for the YANKEES. At the time of that post Andy had confirmed he would pitch this year. Andy stated such in his retirement press conference today. Earlier this week Andy changed his mind because he felt the WIN METHOD desire was no longer in the pit of his stomach. That statement from Andy, that the overwhelming desire to go through the grind and have that desire in the pit of his stomach defines the WIN METHOD. That desire is the WIN METHOD. You aren't the best unless you are WIN METHOD. That is what made Pettitte the winningest pitcher in baseball over the span of his career, the winningest pitcher in the history of post season competition, and the starting pitcher with the most World Series rings over his career. Andys' departure leaves a huge void in the YANKEE rotation, but that void will be filled by an up and coming future star from the YANKEE farm system. We will overcome. Andy will be missed. We congratulate Andy and his family, and wish him all the luck in the world in any future endeavors.

Two hours until we take the field in an attempt to earn our third win of the season. Poor bosux, their ace staff gets hammered again.
Take charge, throw strikes, and dominate Phil. Lets get on a good roll right off the bat.

Game time, did WIN METHOD bring his broom to NY for the opening series?
Hughes getting lit up so far. He may not get another inning. 5-2 Tigera after 2 1/2.
Hughes finishes with four innings allowing five runs. 5-4 Tigers at the end of four. Colon starts the fifth and first two batters single and HR. 7-4 Tigers. Ugh.
Hughes and Colon give up 9 runs and Yanks lose 10-7. No sweep but the series is won. Next in the Twins.
Hughes showed very little today. Somewhat disappointing.
Don't be surprised to see Nova move up to the three spot in the rotation this year. His ball moves more than Hughes.
Nova gets his shot tonight with for real baseball and the Hughes situation needs to be addressed.
Get back on stride and win tonight. Nova to pitch the best game of the starters.
I see CC is going again Tuesday with Garcia Wedneday. Need two of the three at minimum. 28 in 11
Hughes was disappointing. He may need another pitch.

Rain shine, it makes no difference. Every team has weather problems, injury problems, etc at some point in the year. You play around it and win.
Nova and Garcia getting off to good starts would be a big lift to the team and a load off Yankee fan minds.
They are talking of three days of on and off rain. Hopefully we will get them all in.
The Yankees brought Nova along very nicely last year. He got good MLB experience without being abused. I look for a big breakout year from Ivan.
The Yankees are probably the best organization to be in if you are a youngster trying to reach the bigs. They don't abuse you and if they feel you can't help them you have a great chance of being moved into another organization.
I agree, we have many of our kids playing as regulars on other teams who couldn't make the Yankee team.
Very nice start from Nova.
Nova goes six and leaves leading 4-3. Joba throws a three up three down seventh. Excellent first start for Nova.
Soriano closes the eighth and Mo closes the ninth for the 4-3 win earned by Nova. 28 in 11.
Solid start to the season. CC goes again tomorrow. One win at a time as we go for 28 in 11.

This will be the first lefty starter the Yankees will see tonight. slightly different lineup for the Yankees. Jeter lead off and Swisher in the two hole. Andruw Jones may get to see his first start.
Gardner and Jeter have started slow individually, but they both hit some rockets last night, but right at somebody.
Raining now. We need to get game in tonight or we lose CC for the bosux series.
Nova pitched better than his meaningless individual stats showed. The two out two on three and two pitch to Thome was a good change up that Thome went and got very low and golfed to right center for a double. Nova just got beat by a real good hitter. Nova struck Thome out in the sixth to end the inning and his night while earning the win.
In the end the truest test of a pitcher is after he goes through the league two or three times and the batters adopt, if they can or not. And then if the pitcher can adjust and recommand or not.
In the end and the final analysis is do you WIN. If you don't win nothing else matters.
Lets take another step forward with a win tonite.
Very light rain now, but I think we will get the game in tonight.

The Twins just received a 3 run TEXt message. 3-0 Yankees after One.
I see silence here. Last nights loss was as bad as it gets. Getting that kind of loss early in the season must be used as a positive for the team. Take nothing for granted and you really don't win until the game is over. All the great individual stats for CC and Tex become meaningless because the TEAM loss. Not because of what they did individually but because of what was achieved by the team. I feel like WIN METHOD writing this. I have learned real baseball from him and enjoy the game far more than I ever did. Build on the win guys and move on. Today is another day.
Thanks johnsondc, I needed that. Lets make up for it today and tomorrow.
What un ugly loss. Those are the ones you expect from a sub 500 team.
It will be a big lift if Garcia comes up big for us. He is a veteran who should know what it takes.
Yes, a rotten loss. Need to try and stay away from those. Nothing what a couple of wins won't take away.
I couldn't believe what I saw watching last nights game. It was a nightmare and I wasn't asleep yet. We can't give away games like that.
Tough tough loss. We can rectify all with a win from Garcia today and a win tomorrow. that will give us 3 of 4 for the series. 2-2 would be a downer.
Lets see what Garcia gives us tonight. It is very early in the season and I guess we should wait until at least May to see how things shape up. A good effort would be very fine tonight.

Rained out tonight. If we had to have a rain out, today may be for the best.
They will get in todays 1pm game. It is slowing clearing out.

Garcia is being skipped today. AJ will go on his regular turn. See how he does now that he is hopefully recovered from his cold. Go AJ, lets take series 2.
AJ dominate, throw strikes, control and WIN.
AJ will prove the stat frauds and doubters wrong as he has his best season of winning for his team this year. Go AJ. 28 in 11.
AJ very solid after five. Yanks up 4-2 coming up in the bottom of fifth. AJ will probably only get six innings.
AJ earns the win to go 2-0 as the trio of Joba, Soriano, and Rivera throw the 7th, 8th, and 9th for the hold and save. Onto bosux town for a weekend three game series. Lets take one more series.
Nice one run win. Excellent outing from AJ. Very strong and in control.
If AJ keeps throwing the way he has this year he will be a big winner. Command, control, dominant. CC and AJ back to back will be tough for the opposition.
It will be fantastic if Hughes can come up big against a very powerful bosux lineup.
After Hughes it will be Nova Saturday. He will get a good testing.
I'm not trying to be negative, but would anyone in this world have thought that the Yankees would be going into boston this weekend, one week after the season starting, and even if the Yankees would get swept by the bosux, the Yankees would still be in front of them? Unbelievable.
Hughes may be the key to the season. He won 18 last year. If he does it again, we are a shoe in.
A three game series in Boston on the second week of the season. Hughes, Nova, and CC. I would love to be able to win the series, but Boston is just to good a team to keep losing and things will turn around for them at some point. Hopefully it will not be this weekend yet.
Hughes always had potential and came into his own last season. One season does not make a career. Repeated great years does. Throw hard, throw strikes and control the game. Against the bosux is a good way to step forward. 28 in 11.
After a very good start last year, Hughes was just a .500 pitcher. He can't be satisfied with that, unless he wants to be the 5th starter. A win today would be great or at least a top notch effort keeping his team in the game.
Lets take another series guys. Crush the bosux.
Hughes may be just what the bosux needed. He looks like he is throwing batting practice. Has no velocity, no movement, and mo location. That spells disaster. 6-3 bosux after 2.
Colon comes in and throws a flawless 3rd and 4th innings. Throwing hard and throwing strikes. Yankees cut boxux lead to 6-5 after innings.
Colon has looked fantastic. Hughes may lose his starting spot.
Hughes earn the bosux their first win. Don't be surprised to see Colon take Hughes' turn next outing.
Hughes is just going to have to re-earn his starting role. He can't pitch like he has and think he can stay in the rotation. He hasn't earned that respect yet. So you are right William.
The bosux will get back to the real world when they face Nova tomorrow.
A point of info. The Yankees have not won an opening day game in boston for over 50 years. Alas, today is not opening day anymore and the sux will get a tast ov Nova.
What a boost to Novas confidence if he can today.
Would love to see Nova win today and then I'll take my chances with CC in the rubber game.
Hope Nova doesn't get the jitters pitching in Boston. Just be WIN METHOD Ivan and you will overcome the bosux.
Nova hanging tough. 2-1 Yanks after 3 complete.
8-4 Yankees after six innings. Nova grinds it out but can't finish fifth as Robertson comes in to quell the bosux rally and pitch a 3 up 3 down sixth. Robertsons game to win as of now.
A very nice win today. Solid team effort. Lets keep the bosux on their downhill slide with CC tomorrow.

What is making everything nicer is the fact the bosux have gotten off poorly. Especially if they lose tomorrow. They will still be there at the end. Do it again CC. 28 in 11.
Girardi was wise in not using Sorianno and Rivera in todays game. CC can win us the series tomorrow.
Tonights game is possibly a very telling game. Not so much for the Yankees as for the bosux. If the sux lose, they will be 1-8, and they would have lost their first three series of the season. The sux have added some very expensive pieces, but are the pieces WIN METHOD? As WIN METHOD fans know all so well, it is not what a player achieves for himself but what he achieves for the team.
WIN METHODs special draft pick, Adam Warren has been moved to AAA to start the season.

Girardi managed well yesterday, taking Nova out in the 5th. The kid has to learn to earn the win. And although Nova was hampered by Cano's error of omission, all he had to do was pitch a shut down 5th to earn the win.
I wonder if Warren could reach the big team this year? But we play one game at a time. CC needs to take care of business tonight. Jeter and the boys will take care of Becket.
Girardi has put the team into the position of being able to use almost every arm tonight, if needed. 28 in 11.
Would love to see CC get a complete game win tonight. Beat the sux while their down, because they will come back from the dead.

The sux Becket pitches one of his finest games ever tonight and dominates the Yankees from start to finish. CC hangs tough allowing one run and that is all the sux needed.
Down but not out. Day off then the O's are in. We are 5-4 and CC hasn't won a game yet.
Tomorrow we get back on track. But it is nice that we are in front of the sux while only being 1 game over .500.
The big project right now is to get Phil Hughes up and running.
Hughesw will be all right. He's to young to just have lost everything over the winter. I would like to know what his training regimen may have been, however.
Swish broke the Japanese Twin second basemans leg on a clean takeout slide last week. The second baseman looked awful on a DP turn before Swishes takeout. It was just a matter of time.
I was watching those games, and I thought the same thing. He looked horrible in the field and appeared to have no arm at all.
A revamped Baltimore team visits the Stadium starting tomorrow. Do not take them lightly. We need to take this series and get moving to 28 in 11.
I think you are right Carl. Baltimore has improved very much under Showalter. Showalter was very much WIN METHOD when he was with the Yankees.
AJ goes tonight, making his third start. AJ has won his first two and it would be nice to have him run off a big streak of wins.
I would like to predict an eight series winning streak starting today. 28 in 11.
