SPRING TRAINING

Spring training is just about over and the regular baseball season is ready to start. The YANKEES are concluding one of their best spring trainings ever. Much of that do to the loss of Alex Rodriquez (a non WIN METHOD player), and the continued development of some of the best WIN METHOD talent under contract. The longer Alex is out of the lineup, the better the chance of the team to win the AL East division. I talked with the YANKEE players and discussed how to handle Arods return to the lineup. How they must minimize the distraction, the controversy, and play their WIN METHOD game. Play around Arods lack of team play and ignore his antics. This is a very deep squad, with many players who could be starting for many other teams, riding the bench at one time or another. The outfield, the catchers, and the DH will be rotated with everyone getting a chance to contribute. Shortstop is the most solid position on the team, and barring injury will be the heart and soul of the team. Look for the team to get off to a decent start and keep moving forward into the playoffs. That is the goal of the WIN METHOD team. Individual stats are secondary and meaningless, except for the non WIN METHOD players, the stat frauds, and fantasy games. Remember fans, for winning baseball, it is WHEN you produce, not how much or how many you attain for yourself. Except for pitchers of course, we want them to earn as many WINS for themselves as they can, because a WIN for a pitcher is a WIN for the TEAM.

Truer words were never spoken. Afraud can only hurt us. WIN METHOD, hope your words of wisdom got to the team. Welcome back.

Lets rock and roll. Let the season begin. Love you.

I am trying to follow in the steps of WIN METHOD and yes Afraud is the teams problem.

Walter O said...

Great spring without Arod. Love the 912project linking.

Vince said...

No question, Arod has been the Yankee problem. He has hurt every team he has played for, plays for himself, is a distraction to the team and team mates, and just can't be counted on in a big game, big time enviroment.

Here is a post from a knowledgeable baseball fan on one of the forums....
"""If stats won games, each team could submit them to the umpire before the game and he could declaire a winner without a pitch being thrown. There is much more to a team than All STAR status. The Rays had a team they called the hit show a few years back.It was full of stats guys.It was the worst team I have ever seen, and I have seen the early mets.I don't see it as AROD hating. The guy is a distraction to the team ,any team,You can't say they sent him to colorado just for rehab. He could have done that in tampa. They wanted to get him away so the team could gel.It was a very smart move on their part. The players you mention for the astros do not cause distractions to their team. You can't compare them to the yankees situation with AROD.Many teams have players that are great stats guys but don't fit in.Some can go somewhere else and help their new team, some can't.Not everybody that thinks this way can be put in the catagory of ;your an AROD hater. It's a poor rebutal to an obvious situation that is recognised by many fans.""""

Great stuff.

More and more fans are starting to see the light of the WIN METHOD and the meaningless of individual stats in judging talent.

Harold Jenkins said...

It would be great to see the Yankees get off to a great start and Ransom play great. Then when the Afraud comes back and things go to hell in handbasket, more and more people will see the frauds uselessness,

Glad your back, keep the blogs coming.

And down goes Old Sweater in another baseball forum. Buried by WIN METHOD facts, another stat fraud takes his lumps.

I don't know if the funniest part of this blog is that apparently Chuck Knoblauch is a better baseball player than Albert Pujols, or if it's that the player stopping the Yankees from winning the WS is the guy slugging .573(or did I just make that stat up?), or maybe the fact that this site even exists in the first place.

But you know, I've learned something from reading this blog. I've learned that you shouldn't look to closely at so-called "facts" and "logic" because they're just made-up things invented by stat frauds in a global conspiracy to tarnish the fine sport of baseball. I've learned that the best 25 players in the majors last year all played for Philadelphia. I've learned that even though you can't judge an individual player's worth by what that individual player does, you can judge that same player's worth by what his entire team does. But most of all, I've learned that the best way to get your point across is to CAPITALIZE THINGS, because this is the way to assert the GLORY of the WIN METHOD over every other INFERIOR system.

HAIL WIN METHOD!

WIN METHOD said...

There is one major problem with what you say you learned from reading the WIN METHOD. You learned little and most of what you learned, by your comments, is sadly wrong. You need to go back to stat fraud school Mr. anonymous.

Yet another stat fraud gets dirt thrown on his grave. What fools.

Surfing baseball sites. I like this one because I think winning should be the object of a team and all its players,

Paul Dixon said...

An Afraudless spring and the team plays great baseball. Looking good.

Henry Moscowitz said...

Curious as to why you label shortstop as the most solid position on the team, WM. Even coming off surgery and at his advanced age for a closer, I believe Mariano Rivera is in many ways due at least as much credit (if not more) than Derek Jeter for the Yankees' past success. He was better than ever last year, while Jeter's erosion is visible.

Lou L said...

Thank heavens. Someone who knows baseball and isn't corrupted by stats.

WIN METHOD said...

For Henry M....Mariano Rivera is viewed as the best relief pitcher in baseball over his career and gets the best in the game acknowledgment from the WIN METHOD. An every day player or a starting pitcher however is viewed as the most valuable commodity by the WIN METHOD. But do not let that ever diminish the value of Manuel Rivera being the best relief pitcher in the game over the past two decades.

Robert Lynch said...

I have talked to my friends about this blog. The stat guys hate it, and get irritated by it. But they can't beat it with logic. It seems they would rather lose and say theire guys are great, than win with lesser stats.

steven grady said...

Magnificent common sense. Great blog.

A poem.................
WIN METHOD rules
stat frauds are fools

frauds connive and deceive while
WIN METHOD is someone you can believe

frauds claim losers are the best but their argument can't pass the test

WIN METHOD rules the others are fools.

bigbadwolf said...

Very nice Erica. Most important, very true.

Mike Morris said...

WIN METHOD is to "stat fraud" as creationism is to evolution. Either you believe it or you don't.

In some of these messages, though, you could just as easily plug in "witch" for "stat fraud." It's a little unsettling.

Steve said...

For Mike M...I can think of a lot of words for the stat frauds, but this is a clean site.

Erica N...Your poem is great.

I have a poem too...

Roses are red, violets are blue,
STAT FRAUD STAT FRAUD STAT FRAUD

bigbadwolf said...

Hey annon....my wolfie senses smell a stat fraud. If not, that was a lousy poem.

bigbadwolf said...

Hey WIN METHOD and everyone, I am using that quote re stats and giving them to the umpire to decide the game in my sig on the blogs I post at.

Steve said...

I wish I had that quote when I talked to Franseca on his show. I am going to start use it to. That will make the stat frauds cry.

Anonymous said...

There's one slight problem with that quote. See, stats are records of things that have happened in the past, in other games, whereas a game that has not been played yet would be in the future. I hope you understand the concept of time now.

Look, no one is saying that stats will tell you the future. But statistical trends will give you an idea of what might happen, and which players will do the best for your team.

What I don't get about this blog is that everyone here talks like having good stats and winning are mutually exclusive. How do you win games? You score more runs than the other team, which is itself a stat. Other stats like on-base percentage and slugging percentage will tell you the players who will help your team score the most runs, to win. Winning games is obviously the most important thing in baseball, but stats are how you get there.

Curtis Fitzgerald said...

Wang to throw the first pitch in the new Yankee Stadium and Jeter to be the first Yankee to bat. How great.
WIN METHOD at its finest.

bigbadwolf said...

Anyone want to explain the WIN METHOD to anonymous. He does not seem to be able to comprehend.

Jimmy Helton said...

My first time here. With the season starting, I will be back.

bigbadwolf said...

WIN METHOD fans. you want a hoot. Go to baseball-fever.com. Go to the Yankee thread and read Domenics posts. This clown is a shyster lawyer who knows nothing about baseball and spews useless stat after meaningless stat.

Erica Nuyens said...

I'll take a shot at anonymous(afraid to use his name). What you are missing is we WIN METHOD fans do not care what any individual players stat are. As long as the season results in the playoffs and beyond, it makes no difference what any one players stats are. What you miss, it is not about how much or how many any player gets (except for wins for a pitcher), but when he produces. You erringly assume it is the quantity of what a player achieves that defines him. You would be wrong. It is when a player achieves that defines him. The best players help lead their team to playoffs, pennants and beyond the most often. And these players are evaluated on their role on their team. Therefor, a player can have great individual stats and help his team, while a player can have average stats and help his team just as much. Stats are not how you get there, they are just records of what has been achieved. How much, how many. The end result and the object of the game is the win. The win, in the end is what counts, the stats only document the events in the game. A win by 1 run has the same value as a win by 15 runs, thus nullifying stats to a great degree. What stat frauds do not understand is the value of the win compared to the value of individual stats.

Steve said...

Great job Erica.

bigbadwolf, you are right. that guy is a blooming idiot on that forum. he can't get anything right.

Sharon/NC said...

We women know baseball too. Winning is the game. Stats take a hike. Nice Erica.

First of all, what is this thing about names on this blog? There are so many problems with that, I'll have to make a list.

1. The guy who writes this blog and who you all love does not use his name anywhere on this site. You seem to be ignoring this.

2. I don't see how I am "hiding." Like somehow I'm scared to tell you my real name in case you come to my house and beat me up for insulting your perfect system?

3. My name is useless to you. Why the heck would you need it anyway?

The only real reason I can think of for using my name is so you know that it's me talking and not some other anonymous guy. Therefore, from now on, I will be going by the name Ricky the Magical Flying Unicorn.

OK, now just like I said last time, YES, it doesn't matter how much you win by. Winning is more important than stats. However, the problem is when you try to use winsand things like that to tell who is the better player, because you can't tell how good an individual player is by things like wins, which are greatly dependant on a player's team and luck. There's a difference between a player's INDIVIDUAL skill and what happens with his TEAM on the field.

johnsondc said...

For Ricky the MF....Almost all WIN METHOD fans know the great joek as the creator of the WIN METHOD. In his bio, you know his age, sex, where he lives, and @ month of birth. We tend to use are names, because we are proud of our beliefs in the WIN METHOD. Yes there is a difference between a players individual skills and and what happens with the team on the field.

*+*+* Now try to follow this..what a player does for his own statistics is meaningless to the team. The only thing that matters to the team is winning. To quote the creed of the WIN METHOD..."""It is WHEN you produce for the team, not how much or how many you attain for your individual stats, that determines the best players."""
In other words, great stats and losing mean nothing, lesser stats and winning can be far more important. Particularly the winning.

Giambino said...

Hope we can get todays game in. I'm stoked.

Stan Musinski said...

When I talk to stat freaks, they seem to think every stat of a player has equal value. they can't seem to grasp the concept of WHEN over quantity. To me the WIN METHOD focuses on quality over quantity. that is what WHEN means to me. A hit in one situation can mean the game and a win, while in another instance, the hit has absolutely no value to the team or the outcome of the game. It will only have value to the individual, illustrating the fact that individual statistics do not mean much. The games must be won as a team.

WIN METHOD said...

Stan...I was sitting here having breakfast in Baltimore and your post came across. Your post was exceptional and a very inciteful view of my WIN METHOD. Welcome to the WIN METHOD and please keep posting.

johnsondc said...

Stan M.. nice stuff, that is what the WIN METHOD is about. WHEN (quality) over how much (quantity).

Jim Alderson said...

CC hasn't looked today. He will get many more chances. I think Wang is the real ace anyway.

Sharon/NC said...

Yes, Wang is steady, and will carry us through the season with the most consistency.

With our starters and backups in the minors, at least the team should not have any long losing streaks. Just take the next two, and we will be off on a good foot.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Afraud comes back.
1.When will Girardi allow him back
2.How will Ransom be doing
3.What will fan reaction be
4.How will the team be doing
5.How will he hurt team chemistry
