WIN METHOD EVALUATION

Rating players using the WIN METHOD evaluation method is reasonably simple. The results will give you the best of the best of the greatest players in the game. I will claim one caveat however. It is near impossible to compare players of different eras reliably or fairly against each other. It is best to use the WIN METHOD to compare players of the same era or time frame. Different eras had different rules, ballparks were different, the introduction of more teams and the playoff system, there were no Negro, Latin, or Asian players during many eras. Equipment was different, the pitching mound has been altered, etc.

One thing is positive and undeniable (except by stat frauds), is that the greatest of the great players always and consistently helped their team to success and championships. Not individual misguided personal stats, but for the reason the game of baseball has been and is played. The things that determine the greatest. Wins and winning. To be able to determine the greatest of the great players, one only needs to go to the record books and find which players over their careers and eras helped their team to the most playoffs, pennants, and World Series Championships. Rate players by their respective role to each players team. Compare starting position players to other starting position players. Compare pitchers to pitchers, relief pitcher to relief pitchers. Backup infielders to backup infielders and backup outfielders to backup outfielders. Use common sense and always ask why. Why did these players achieve for their team more than others with greater individual stats did for their team. One gigantic WIN METHOD reason, they played for the success of the team, not their individual statistics. Winning was paramount to these greatest of the greats. Their character and will to be the best made them willing to sacrifice individual stats in order to help their team win. There you have it WIN METHOD fans. Take the stat frauds with a grain of salt, look them in the eye and ask them just how their individual stat guys could lose and still be the best. There answer will usually be, it was the players team mates fault.

I think the WIN METHOD is fantastic. "Stat fraud" is worth a million dollars.

I would hope most baseball fans would think that winning the World Series would determine who the best players would be. Isn't anything else foolish?

Anonymous said...

I always believed the winners were the best, but was always told stats said who was best. I'm glad to see this blog and so many agree with the winners being the best

This sure beats those baseball forums. Some of the posters in those forums don't know heads or tails but just ramble on and on with their nonsense. Keep up the good work.

I've read this blog from start to finish. Why don't the few and far between posters who question the wisdom of the blog ever use their real names? Too embarrassed I guess.

"One thing is positive and undeniable (except by stat frauds), is that the greatest of the great players always and consistently helped their team to success and championships."

That's the weird thing about the last, oh, lets say 8 years. There really haven't been any teams that consistently win championships, prior to this period the Yankees were consistent winners, but the last time that a team made consecutive WS appearances was 2000-2001, as the Yankees finished off a 4 year span of making the WS, since then no team has made back to back WS, teams have consistently had success, but many of these modern players haven't helped their teams consistently win championships.

I just find that kind of weird, it's not a disagreeing response, just something weird that hit me.

WIN METHOD said...

YDNTK...Much of that has to do with the playoffs. To win the WS a team must win three rounds of post season games. With the competition being as close as it is teams find it difficult to win consecutive WS. But as stated in the WIN METHOD the players who help lead their team to the most playoffs, pennants and WS are the best of the best. Therefor, the players who have reached the playoffs and reached the WS over the past few years are the best of the best. Many of the Red Sox players have won two WS over the past five years and have made the playoffs other times. Let us not ignore their great accomplishments.
Do not be afraid to use your real name, as most do here, because they are proud WIN METHOD followers.

I've been posting on a baseball forum and just got scolded by an ignorant 'stat fraud' moderator for mentioning the WIN METHOD and using A-fraud. Being buried in their individual fantasy stat games, they do not have the ability nor the common sense to understand what winning really means. Great job here.

Hey bigbadwolf: I know exactly where and who you are talking about.

I was told to visit here. Amazing how you knew of the big signings and wrote about it days before anyone else. You sure know what you are talking about and will keep looking for more.

Hey bigbadwolf, which forum? If it was baseballforum.com, that isn't surprising, it's a rather horrible forum, there are some that will scold you, but they won't ban you, and thats just how life works, there's always one group who has different ideals from the other, and they'll both battle it out, not everyone will agree with this, and especially not on baseball forums, but as long as you can get it out there and be able to fight for it, that's all you need to do, the rest will take care of itself.

Oh and WINMEHTOD, I prefer to keep my handle as this wherever I am, just a neat handle to see when it says "You don't need to know who said....."

For: you don't need to know, It wasn't baseballforum. That forum has died over a year ago. Some real garbage running it from what I have heard. It is probably better I do not mention the forum name here. But you are right, all you can do is express your opinion. That is why I love this blog. I am a big time believer in winning over individual stats.

If the winner isn't the best, then who the hell is? The loser! Good rating system crediting winners.

I'm glad you are a Yankee. I would hate to see the WIN METHOD in the hands of the opposition.

What do you mean by stat fraud. All statisticians are not frauds.

WIN METHOD said...

Jeanne, when the term stat fraud is used here, it is meant to identify people who try to use legitimate statistics to determine false outcomes. In baseball it is a 'stat fraud' saying so and so is the best player based on his individual statistics. In the real world the best player can only be best if he helps his team win. Statisticians and statistics are vital in this world. It is there use in misleading, invalid, and convoluted ways that has given us the term stat fraud.

I've go my son who palys little league reading the WIN METHOD. I want him to know what it takes to help a team win.

A couple of years ago, I posted on a baseball forum, and all I got when I asked why the individual stat guy could never help his team win was "it was his team mates fault". You called it right on.

Anonymous said...

I was doing a google search on winning baseball and came upon your blog. Very nice. I listed it on my go to sites.

This is the greatest blog I have ever come across for baseball. I agree with what Don Webb said in particular. You can't argue with stat heads. Although stats are useful, I can't stand people who live and die by them. It's like arguing with a wall.

Anonymous said...

I love the WIN METHOD. It makes the stat frauds cringe.

Anonymous said...

WIN METHOD: thank you for the stat fraud clarification. I agree with you. Too many people try to manipulate stats, and that is just wrong.

Anonymous said...

when you get paid millions of dollars, i would hope winning would be your desired outcome. now i see why some of them so called super stars aren't able to win.

LOL

I find these comments funny. I'm sure the "blogger" himself has been adding most of the positive comments.

Fraud!

WIN METHOD said...

Anon lol: I just had to show your post. Undoubtedly you are one of the stat frauds who have been proven to be out of touch with reality. The fact that you find it impossible to believe so many people understand winning baseball and refuse to get mislead by stat frauds just has to infuriate you.

Anonymous said...

BigBadwolf...I'm in the same forum as you as you're the one actually pointed this site out to me lol...I won't say anymore details.

to the auther: When are more blogs going to be posted?

WIN METHOD said...

Baseball logic: I try to post an installment whenever I can. I will be heading to Tampa Sunday and will be gone for a bit of time. I will also try to pass along any info I get that is pertinent.

Is this used just to determine who the winners in baseball are, or can it actually be used to predict who will win?

Because it doesn't take anyone with half a brain to figure out who has won, but it takes some intelligence to determine who will win.

WIN METHOD said...

True, anyone with half a brain knows the WIN METHOD is very accurate on predicting which teams will likely have the most wins for each season.
WIN METHOD fans leave the folly to stat frauds.

Anonymous said...

Are the naysayers of the WIN METHOD, all really that stupid, or is it the false manipulation of stats their goal?

WIN METHOD said...

TJ: I really don't wish to be negative and it is not this blogs goal to demean anyone. Lets just leave it at anyone who tries to determine a players value by individual stats is a stat fraud.

Anonymous said...

I've scoured several forums. WIN METHOD has the stat frauds whining and crying. Making false claims and throwing around dumb innuendos like the US Treasury is printing money.

True, anyone with half a brain knows the WIN METHOD is very accurate on predicting which teams will likely have the most wins for each season.

Then, make a prediction, tough guy.

Still waiting for your 2009 prediction....

Carlos, Carlos, The WIN METHOD is the greatest player evaluation tool in baseball history. Wouldn't waste my time making predictions on other teams that I have no association and or dealings with. As far as the YANKEES. The YANKEES will cruise to the playoffs if Afraud is out for an extended period of time. they will still likely make the playoffs if he comes back in May. Talked to all players this spring encouraging to stay away from the fraud while still speaking highly of him in public. Now go play on your forum.
